With the bulk of Morsetania's military forces in the eastern part of the country battling terrorists, opponents of President Andrew Morse capitalized greatly on the situation, as heavily-armed paramilitary forces loyal to Morse's half-sister Amanda Rosewell, who has long coveted a nation of her own, made their way into the Morsetanian capital city of Androvia today and began indiscriminately killing anyone with which they came into contact.
The rebel forces also set fire to the Presidential Palace in the heart of the city. Morse himself just barely escaped the flames, and he and several of his high-level cabinet officials have been transported to a secret location.
The current death toll from this surprise rebel assault is believed to be around 600,000 and climbing, as the militant forces continue to slaughter anyone who might stand in their way of taking over the embattled country.
The opposition forces are attempting to take the nations capital building, but are being held off just outside of it by a small and determined force of militia, police, and the few soldiers remaining in the city.
From his secret hiding place, President Morse has declared a full state of war in Morsetania and ordered the activation of the entire military force. At this moment, several thousand soldiers are advancing from the north and into the city of Androvia in an attempt to crush this attempted rebellion.
Meanwhile, with much of Androvia in flames, Morse's sister Rosewell has proclaimed herself the first Empress of Morsetania and the only true leader of the country and has set up her own government in an office building just north of the capital building.
Elsewhere in Morsetania, Islamic radicals continued to sack the southeastern village of Clarion, bulldozing an abortion clinic, killing 25 in the process, and blowing up a shopping mall, killing an estimated 600.
With a quarter of Clarion's population now dead, the remaining citizens of the town are now attempting to flee the carnage as terrorists clash with Morsetanian Marines all throughout the city.
Muhamad bin Almadi, the head of the Jihad Party, which is responsible for the raids, says "The tyranny of the infidel shall soon be over. All signs of Western perversion and decadence are now being purged from our sacred land."
President Morse urges all the nations that border his to seal off their borders to prevent this Islamic uprising from spreading to their countries.
There is now an eerie silence throughout the nation of Morsetania as the streets of most cities are empty and the normal cheerful light blue national flag has been replaced by the red and white flag of war on all public buildings.
There will be much more to come as this situation does not look like it is going to improve any time soon.
