IC: The sun shined brightly in Kalimntan-Maiju-Riandu kali, or shorter: KaMaRi kali. KaMari kali is something like the secret capital of Rejistania, the biggest city by far, the center of economy and also culture. The second Baptism of Fire tournament was about to start and 'The Rejis' was co-hosting it. Fans from the different participating countries as well as many soccer fans from FIFA (the region, Rejistania is in) travelled into the country. In the stadium of Hanin Sekhika, the opening ceremony took place. "Hejida vana!" Teke Daran, chief of the rejistanian soccer association started his speech, he continues in the slow, accented english, he is known for. "Ladies and gentlemen, the ÜberkapitaliZt Republic of High C... sorry, Commerce Heights and the Orange-White-Blue Regions of Rejistania welcome you to the second Baptism of Fire tournament. This is the chance for the newly established nations to experiance the spirit of competition for the first time in your national history, the first time you compete on a friendly level. No matter where you will finish, first or last, the most important thing is to participate, to gain experience and to become capable of improving. You all have nothing to lose and much to win. Han'iln ji va'iln veka!" (After he slow english, which always sounds well thought, people are always surprised when they hear Teke Daran speak rejistanian totally differently.)

After the speech, dances, which were both, based on rejistanian tradition and ment to represent the ten participating nations. For
Commerce Heights, no dance could be agreed on and so the dancers just formed the logos of the corporate sponsors to their jingles, but for every other nation, there were no similar problems and all was done with extreme accuracy and skill. After the dances, inikresaistic shamans entered the field and cleared the last bit of negative energy by traditional chants, then the first game was about to start.

Excerpt from "The CSoBGA Telegraph" of May 28:

King Morrigan I has declared today a national holiday in Morriganavia - and a good thing too! Almost the entire nation is suffering from a hangover after drinking long into the night following yesterday evening's televised international football match.

Morriganavia was playing its first ever international match at senior level in the Baptism of Fire Tournament (a precursor to and warm up for World Cup XV). In Rejistania, the brave lads of the national team overcame gallant opponents Turori with a single goal scored in the 69th minute by central defender and captain Percival.

Head Coach Arthur said, "We're over the moon! The lads done great! All the journos what wrote us off must be sick as a parrot! Me and the lads reckon we can go all the way, so all you folks at home stock up on beer!"

Krytenia's team made their debut in senior football with a one-all draw with fellow debutantes Haperd.

Haperd took the lead on 11 minutes, <Haperd#9> scoring with a thumping volley, however a quick counter led to a simple finish for Ari Smith to equalise on the hour.

Ed Bye was quoted as saying:
"We're a little disappointed not to win, but there are still two games to pull ourselves into the semis. We MUST make sure we take more of our chances next time."

Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) 0 - 1 Morriganavia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=morriganavia)

The Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) Eels entered into their first ever Inter-NationStatal match with high hopes. However, those hopes soon turned into disbelief when the Vilitan (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita) Colony learned their first match, against Morriganavia, would be played in Rejistania. It was a similar situation encountered by the Tropics of Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita) themselves that led to 720 consecutive goaless minutes for the Jungle Cat national team in their first ever World Cup outing.

However, the fears of Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) ans were soon realized, as the final whistle blew on their Baptism of Fire Cup debut with an unproductive defeat against fellow newcomers Morriganavia.

The first half of the match was fairly even, with Maritus Banda, the 36 year old brother of Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita) U-21 World Cup Hero Callum Banda, who qualfies due to the pairs Grandmother, twice hitting the bar for the Eels. However, the match went into half time all square with neither side having much else to be proud of.

The second half was a different story, with the Morriganavese looking the stronger side throughout. Their persistence paid off 20 minutes from time, when captain Percival put the Morriganavia National Team in front. From there, a stiff defensive hold prevented Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) from getting any notable chances, and the final whistle blew on the Eels maiden voyage, falling 1-0 to Morriganavia.

Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) 1 - 1 Krytenia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=krytenia)

The Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) Eels entered into their second ever Inter-NationStatal match downbeat after a dissapointing loss to Morriganavia. Similar to their controlling entity, the Tropics of Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita), the Eels have opened their history books with a goalless loss.

However, Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori)ans would soon seperate themselves from their colonial controllers, opening the scoring early in the 12 minute. Again, Maritus Banda, the 36 year old brother of Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita) U-21 World Cup Hero Callum Banda was strong for the Eels, powering past the Krytenia defensive line and slotting home from 8 yards out.

It took a defensive miscue by the Eels to surrender the lead half an hour from time, in an otherwise stout defensive display. Neither team threatened in the closing stages of the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Eels now face Haperd in the final match of the group. It is a must win for the Eels, if they look to qualify for the Semi Finals. A draw would mean the second spot would go either to Haperd or Krytenia on Goal Differential, with Morriganavia already locked into the semi finals. The Eels will be looking for Morriganavia to take at least one point from Krytenia, coupled with a Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) victory that would see the Eels through.

Excerpt from The CSoBGA Telegraph, May 30:

There were jubilant scenes last night in both Morriganavia and in the Morriganavia Ravens’ dressing room as the national football team qualified for the semi-finals of the Baptism of Fire tournament. A hard-fought 2-1 victory over Haperd not only ensured that the Ravens topped their qualifying group, but also maintained the team’s 100% record in senior international matches.

Morriganavia had the game tied up after two early strikes (7mins and 19mins) by big, burly, old-fashioned centre forward Gawaine. A late, dubious penalty decision, which Haperd converted to give them a consolation goal, did nothing to dampen the celebrations.

Many sports journalists had written off Gawaine, claiming he was too old to function effectively at this level, but the 33 year-old answered his critics last night with a commanding display of leadership from the front. Interviewed after the match, Gawaine commented, “My hero is Teddy Sheringham. He was still playing at the highest levels at 38 so if I can avoid injuries, I can’t see any reason not to keep on going. If Arthur keeps picking me, I’ll keep bangin’ ‘em in!”

Arthur, the head coach of The Ravens, was his usual, eloquent self. "We're over the moon! The lads done great! All the knockers what said we hadn’t a snowball’s must be as sick as a parrot! Me and the lads reckon we can go all the way!"

Rumours around the camp suggest that Arthur will rest both the older players and the stars of the team for the final group match. At least five of the “Young Guns” of the squad are expected to run out against Krytenia, and they hope to give Arthur a real headache when it comes to selecting the line up for the semi-final.

Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) 4 - 2 Haperd (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=krytenia)

The Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) Eels entered into their final match in the Baptism of Fire Group Stage knowing they could not advance with a victory over the lackluster Haperd side. However, A Morriganavia loss would render any result meaningless and send the Eels crashing out of the competition.

It was the team from Haperd that took control of the early stages of the game however, and they should have opened the scoring just 4 minutes in when the Right-Winger darted into the box but could only trip over his own feet just 8 yards from Milauo Slietah's goal. He would make no mistake 10 minutes later, when a corner evaded all until the 26 year old winger volleyed home from the edge of the box. Haperd set out to defend from there, and fully deserved their 1-0 lead at the half

However, Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori)ans would soon have something to cheer about. Maritus Banda, the 36 year old brother of Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita) U-21 World Cup Hero Callum Banda tallyed his 3rd of the competition from the spot after strike parnter Jualiar Vumaou was brought down by a Haperd defender on 48 minutes. Just 6 minutes later, Vumaou would get a goal of his own, sent all alone by the crafty Makaus Likao, and making no mistake with just the keeper to beat.

Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) then took total control of the match on the hour when Likao was tripped up 25 yards out. The ensuing free kick was one for the highlight reel, as Cuolia Tuirma sent the ball into the far corner, leaving the Haperd goalie completely motionless in the process. The game settled down before Captain Banda notched his 4th of the competition after a defensive miscue gifted the ball to him 15 yards out. Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori)ans began celebrations at this point, knowing a 4-1 lead with 8 minutes left would surely see them through to the Semi-Finals. However, one Eel fan, adorned completely in his replica Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) kit, ran onto the field just before stoppage time. Unnoticed by the Ref, he proceeded to tackle a haperd player on the goal line on the edge of the box. The ref quickly produced a red card and awarded Haperd a cruel penalty, completely ignoring cries from the Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) players that the player carded was not actually Marlian Hunial, but just a fan wearing a Hunial kit.

In the end, the result was what counted, and Krytenia's failure to beat Morriganavia sees the Eels through to the Semi-Finals where they will face the Winners of Group 1.

Celestials Eliminated After Three Ties

NO goals, no fun, and no entry for the Krytenian National Team after a dour nil-nil draw with the impressive Morriganavian side.
Neither side created many chances, though Krytenia did score - Cecil Poldov thumped one home but was cruelly judged offside, the linesman not noticing the fact that Poldov received the ball through a stray backpass.

The 0-0, coupled with Turori's thumping of Haperd, insanely sees the unbeaten Celestials home early.

Turori vs. Oaker BoF Cup Semi Final

Maxisoft Stadium, Commerce Heights The Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) Eels stepped out on the pitch for the first time ever in the knockout stage of a recognized WCC Competition. Adorned in their professional kits, fashioned 3wide Designs, based in the Tropics of Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita), They looked a class above the unbeaten Oaker Sharks. However, the everyone in the stadium knew, the Sharks were unbeaten for a reason. Something the Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) Eels were not. The Maxisoft Stadium, filled to the brink with Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori)ans & Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita)ns alike, supporting the little island nation to the North East of the Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita) Mainland in their Baptism of Fire cup effort.

The match kicked off with no changes in either sides starting lineup. The Sharks, unbeaten in the Competition, and the Eels unbeaten in their last 2, provided little action in the first half. I mainly defensive affair, no team would find themselves with any real opportunity to open the scoring. Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) keeper Milauo Slietah came closest for either side when his Goal kick in the 39th minute was carried astronomically by the high winds inside the Maxisoft Stadium, and clipped the top of the Oaker Netting before going into the stands. 3 minutes later, Midfielder Boaibou Houabou was yellow carded for a late challenge on one of the Sharks. The Match entered the half notched up at 0-0.

The second half started much brighter, with the Sharks twice going close through there fan favorite striker "El Jawz." It is unknown what the strikers real name is, as the Sharks do not wear names on their jersey. A somewhat quiet day by the regenerated Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=vilita)n born Maritus Banda was enlightened on the hour mark as Banda rounded the keeper and easily side footed home, only to see the assistant referee raise his flag for offside. That would prove to be the last real action of the half, and it appeared both teams had settled for deciding this one in extra time. Full Time 0-0.

The tempo quickly begun to match what one might expect of a Semi Final match when the extra time began. The Eels attacked close, with Banda again finding the back of the net, and again being called back for offside. With the first extra time period coming to an end, the Strong Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) support was silenced. El Jawz connected with a low ball in the area and prodded it passed Slietah to give the Sharks the advantage going into the final 15 minutes.

The Sharks made two defensive substitutions to start the second half of added time, seeming content to take the 1-0 scoreline. However, this allowed Turori (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=turori) to push defender Linoai Niabula into a more attacking role, creating lots of space for the powerful striking duo of Banda and Jualiar Vumaou to trouble the Oaker Defense. 8 minutes from time, Vumaou connected well with a Cuolia Tuirma cross to level the scores at 1-1. Oaker, having used up all their substitutions, were stuck in a defensive formation and now looked to settle for a penalty shootout. However, they would not make it as far as Makaus Likao's staggering one-two play with Banda down the Left opened space for an inch perfect pass to Vumaou who was able to tap the ball home from just two yards out to send the Eels into the Final of The Baptism of Fire Cup, against a more than fortunate Ascensia side.

(How in the hell did we make it to the finals? Btw... I was going to rp in here, but my first post got eaten by server lag, so I got discouraged. I'll come up with something once I get my team roster together and once I get the results of the finals, promise.)

Have you come up with anything yet? My roster is on the front page, I'd love to see what you can come up with for the final.

Btw, Until you get a match report up, I'll just post this...
