Sakkra

The news-feeds in the Sakkran Empire come online, and a stage can be seen, with a podium evident. A moment passes, and the form of the Chief Engineer to the Empire, Jouuha, comes onstage and taps the mike. "Ahem. Testing testing. All set? Good. Now then, I am Chief Engineer Jouuha. For several decades now, the Kastaa Bio-Med facilities, in conjunction with Guaah Armor Works and Eeorouh Aero-Space Industries (of which I am an esteemed member), have been working with cyber-organic technologies. It is now safe to say that we are prepared to test a new prototype ship. One that is fully sentient and bio-engineered from bow to stern."
*brief pause* "This is not a transplanted sentience in a ship frame, but a whole craft grown from its earliest stages to full adulthood. Educated, trained and even allowed play time. It may or may not have registered as an anomalous ship on the sensors of other nations during some of its earlier forays into the world. Other times it may not show up do to its radar-ablative outer hull."

Jouuha lifts his specs on his scaley eyelids some, and consults some notes as the lights dim and a holoscreen comes on. "With the contribution of the Snel's Crana-Web technology on the first fully organic ships, the Pakayg, we have been experimenting with cybernetic augmentation on organic vessels of conflict. It was discovered, to make the experience less traumatic, that cybernetic enhancements would be added slowly over time as the craft grew, until it reached full size. This way the enhancements would not be seen as new and frightening, and the ship, which we have named Corsaire, would have time to acclimate to the new functions opened up with each enhancement."
"Cybernetic enhancements include the tying in of a hydrogen-fusion engine bank for propulsion. Organic ram-scoops built into the craft can attain fresh hydrogen from the toposphere of gas-giants, thereby allowing a fairly long amount of time before having to undergo maintanence. Bio-organic maintanence drones in the ship, which act much like the healing agents in your body, and mine, maintain the functions of the ship's inner workings and ensure everything is in good order."
Light-pointers pick out specific areas on the ship, and zoom in as the Chief Engineer continues. "Helium-plasma weaponry, as well as gauss guns, are also attached cybernetically to the ship. Much as with the hydrogen, helium would also be scooped, and filtered to containment nodes, ready to be used after some processing within the ship. Asteroid belts would be the areas for the Corsaire to gain ammunition for the gauss guns. Chewing and ingesting ferrous stones, the 'stomach' of the ship filters trace minerals and such for use by the body, and ferrous metals are rolled around in a smaller, separate stomach which breaks up the metal, rounds and smooths it until they are shaped into 'bullets' for use in the gauss weaponry."
"The Corsaire will still retain piloting crews and gunners for the sake of efficiency. Donning the neuro-interface helmet symbiotes, they will connect directly with the Corsaire and act as multiple brains around the ship. Communication and sensor arrays are organic in nature, as there will be a compliment of Grass-Walkers who will use their telepathy to communicate out-ship. The crew would be able to, through the use of the neuro-helmets, see, feel and sense what the Corsaire senses which include long-range radar, infrared and passive night vision, ultraviolet light sensors and so on."
The Chief Engineer shifts his notes about for a second, and continues. "Ah, here we are. Rather than have standard environmental controls aboard the Corsaire, it has been opted that a breathable oxygen/nitrogen liquid mix be used in the interior of the ship. This would allow for superior inertia compensation and greater ability to remain comfortable during high-G maneuvers. The first crew-members of this ship on its maiden voyage will be given a charted course around Imperial holdings to test the extent of its maneuverability."
"Now then. As this ship is cyber-organic in nature, I have managed to patch a line directly to it. The Corsaire will be able to answer questions within reason."
