What is Technology Unleashed?

The Society Technology Unleashed is unlike any society ever before. A society based on ten key principles.

1. Technology improves life.
2. Restrictions other than those against behavior that harms technological progress decrease the quality of life.
3. Capitalism is needed.
4. Greed, as long as it does not deprive others of basic rights, propery, and a minimum standard of living, is good.
5. Social programs need to ensure that everyone has a minimum standard of living, property, and equal access to technology.
6. The Government should leave people alone, except for taxation to provide social programs.
7. Pleasure, Change, and Success are the key aims of life.
8. Ecosystems much be preserved as much as possible.
9. Societies are not truly democracies until they have direct democracy, economic democracy, and knowledge democracy.
10. You can never have too many bright lights, beeping noises, or features attached onto anything.

Where is Technology Unleashed?

Technology Unleashed is an arcology located in the Pacific Ocean, rising up off the seabed.

What is for sale in Technology Unleashed?

Pretty much everything except for firearms, recreational drugs, animal products, and computer viruses. While the middle two may not seem to be in line with our principles, recreational drugs damage the brain, and thusly decrease the individual's capacity for innovation. Animal products can be substituted without the suffering involved for the animal, and increase medical ailments, placing a greater strain on the single-payer (but not single-provider) healthcare system in place in Technology Unleashed.

How can I go about becoming a citizen of Technology Unleashed?

Just show up. You will be issued with your TechPad, a PDA-like device that links you into elections, news, products, and the like.

What is the government like?

A direct democracy, that is taken place many times daily over the TechPads. The process has been made completely secure.

The constitution is an elaboration of each of the principles, explaining how they are practically carried out.

Describe your culture.

The culture has very few, if any, taboos. Nudity is common, people gamble and dance, have sex in the corridors, all sorts of stuff like that. And we like it that way.

A typical day for our citizens is exercise, work, play and party. Our nation's nightlife goes on all the time. Work hours are flexible. An estimated 90% of our citizens choose to exercise daily.

It does emphasize, however, working hard during the work time.

Describe the inside of the Arcology.

A mix of Vegas, Tokyo, and a wild jungle (There is literally a tropical rainforest ecosystem set up interspersed with the lights and the buildings.)

What benefits do I get by becoming a citizen?

Ownership of a compartment (apartment) in the Arcology, free health care, free access to the latest technologies, free tech support, free food, a free education as far as you want to take it, free internet access, and a minimum standard of living guaranteed. You must hold a job, however, to get any of these. It's not hard though- the government gives jobs out if people cannot find one.

What duties do I have?

Paying your taxes, and obeying all laws passed.

Visit, and enjoy the wild atmosphere, or become a citizen, get voting rights, and live here whenever you want!

OOC: You might be wondering about this- this thread is just a generic information thread on TSOTU.

Post if you want diplomatic relations, or comment on our ideals. Or pretty much anything.

We are pleased that someone has contacted the arcology. If you like, we could exchange embassies.

We are also very interested in a technology exchange.

Yes, an embassy would be very good indeed

Also, we precise your nation to be strong, and we see you are peaceful, we wonder then, about your military standing. A nation with such abundant focus on their citizens and social programs may not spend much money on their military program, and a technological rich nation may be a tempting target for other, more malicious, nations.

I offer you, then, a Treaty of Protection. Should your nation fall under unjustified attack, the armed forces of my nation will aid you in repelling the invaders. We would not want to see such abundant technology fall into the hands of people who may use it in the wrong way. We can discuss the details of this, and of a technological exchange, via TG

Please contact me via TG

Thank you
