Halfassed Gales off to Lowbury.

The Halfassed under-21/youth side have been drawn in Group A for the third Cup, once again taking place in TnUI.

The Gales will have a tough time trying to improve upon the one win gathered last time out, having been drawn with Krytenia, The Eagles Nest and Jeruselem.

The first match will be against Krytenia later to-day in the 31,000 capacity Lowbury stadium, home of TnUI club side Chronic Nose Hair Rovers.

Gales captain, John Bell, seemed happy with the draw, "We'll take on anyone - to win the thing we'll have to beat the best of the rest at some point, so why not in the opening round?" said the young bravdo.

When asked about the tactics the team would use, and if they would change from game to game, he replied "The idea is simply to score more than them, we'll probably concede one or two, but we intend to score 4 or 5! As for changing tactics from game to game - why? it'll only complicate things!"

From what this reporter can tell, its going to be an interesting cup!

Excerpt from Starblaydi Combined Broadcasting's top sports show, 'Block and Tackle', every Saturday at 7:30pm

With a large black suit to match his huge frame, ex defensive-lineman Trey Pickworth shuffled his notes and winged the introduction to the next segmen.

"And now, we cross live to Veronica Brasse at Saint Fry’s Park in Total n Utter Insanity, hosts of the 3rd under-21 World Cup. Veroncia?

The picture changed to the pretty reporter struggling to be heard over the stadium announcer and packs of cheering fans. There wa also a brief delay on the satellite link-up.

"Thanks Domingo, alas, the young bloods of Starblaydi Football were defeated in their first match of the tournament. Although star man Simeone Di Bradini opened their scoring, supplemented by a well-struck Ricky Torino free-kick from around twenty-three yards, Starblaydia was soundly beaten by Europa Brittania four-two. This leaves Starblaydia bottom of Group E with no points and a minus-two goal difference."

Back in the studio, Trey was staring at the blank green wall which would show the viewers at home the live feed from St. Fry's.

"So what does this mean for Starblaydi hopes, Veronica?"

"Well Domingo, it's not looking too good at the moment, but hopefully the defensive situation can improve in their next match."

Back in the studio, Trey had to look a bit saddened by the news, though he cared little for 'soccer'. Now it was onto Hockey, a much better sport.

"The Starblaydi Rayzors kept their undefeated streak going, streching it to nine wins and one tie..."

From Radijo Desnike:

Newsspeaker (it is not normal that anchormen or -women use their names in the broadcast): ...the linijanija party loses by this 4% in the kalesa and will surely not participate in the coalition of Kanasajija, Rilakandida and Hsidikinla.

Now for the sport: The soccer U21 tied NAST1C 2 scoreless. Coach Jisu Jetta used a merely defensive tactic which reminded of a System Jesejil, while NAST1C 2 played in a System Karela-ish style. The match saw few chances for both teams and none could be capitalized. Coach Jisu Jetta called the draw 'encouraging'

Vilita 5-2 Corrupt Feudal States

Vilita outplayed Corrupt Feudal States in almost every department and thoroughly deserved their crushing 5-2 victory at Selby Park.

Striker Germán Salomón, grabbed a hat-trick with Umberto Melli and Jan Christiansen also on target.

Vilita dictated the opening stages with Salomón giving them a 21st minute lead and six minutes later Umberto Melli hammered home a left-foot shot to put Baron O' Toole's Jungle Cats two up.

But Corrupt Feudal States's Striker Mia Feif twice went close before they got back into the game in the 43rd minute, heading into the roof of the net to give the corrupted side a glimmer of hope.

Vilita scored a third goal in the 53rd minute. David Leacock's long ball upfield found the head of Christiansen, who flicked the ball on for Salomón to strike a superb drive beyond the Corrupt keeper.

Salomón completed his hat-trick with an 80th-minute penalty and then strike-partner Christiansen rose to head home the fifth to complete a memorable night for the Jungle Cats.

Feif grabbed his and Corrupt Feudal States's second in the 88th minute when he struck home a penalty of his own but it was purely academic and this defeat cranks up the pressure on Corrupt Feudal States who must Defeat group leaders Brazillico to have any hope at reaching the next round. The Jungle Cats would advance with at least a Draw at Liverpool England; And a favorable result in the groups other match.

Starblaydia edges out Kaze Progressa in seven-goal thriller
by 'Scoop' Jackson, The Jhanna Chronicle

With the other Group E game this week being a seven-goal walkover, Starblaydia and Kaze Progressa battled it out in a game where under-performing defences were the norm. Seventeen year-old J.J. Stark opened up Progressa's left wing time and time again, providing the first two Starblaydi goals, for Olaf Vikerman and Ricky Torino, before being brought down in the box for a penalty which was duly dispatched by Di Bradini.

There was much controversy when a seemingly two-footed tackle from Rastian Salaam failed to bring a red card for the nineteen year-old defender.

The whole defensive unit was streched time and time again, conceding three goals to the Progressa team, but Moses Brown redeemed himself with a minute to go, climbing highest in the box to power home a bullet header from a Perriman corner.

Promotional ad on SCB, advertising Starblaydia's final group game

Narrator: Their first time ever at the Under-twenty-one World Cup...

Images of young Starblaydi players walking out and lining up for the anthem, Starblaydia Triumphant, sixty-thousand flashbulbs creating a riot of light in the night, classical music and a choir overlays the scenes, creating tension and majesty

Defeated at first...

Shaven-headed Rodriguez Da Silva flounders in no-man's land as a succession of Europa Brittania players put the ball into his net. He punches the ground and screams silently at his defenders who can only hand their heads. The scoreboard is shown above cheering Brittania players: 4-2.

Then triumphant at last...

JJ Stark, the tall, slim, dark-haired seventeen year-old is shown using every one of his tricks to get past Kaze Progessa players and leave them in his wake: The stepover, double stepover, triple stepover, Cruyff turns, backheels, spin moves and keepy-uppy tricks. Big balding Olaf Vikerman smashes a vicious curving shot into the net from twenty yards, Ricky Torino taps in at the near post and then blonde adonis Di Bradini rifles in a penalty as the scene fades to Moses Brown nodding the ball home, with scenes of jubilation, victory and the score a 4-3 victory for Starblaydia.

With one game to go...

Rastian Salaams studs of both feet smash into the shins of a Progressa player as their bench and players go crazy over the unpunished foul, all snazzily edited together.

There's everything to play for...

Di Bradini throws his hands into the air in victory as the heavenly choir rises to a creschendo.

They only need a draw to see them through...

The fans are hushed in awe before going crazy as a penalty is smashed home. The music comes to a final, goose-pimply conclusion.

Be there, watch it all, join the team, only on SCB.

Shock as Gales crash out!

5-2 and 2-1 defeats see youth team take an early bath yet again!

For the second cup running, the Halfassed Gales will be heading home early after losing their opening two matches.

"What do ya mean only 3 games?" commented a less than happy John Bell when interviewed after the defeat to the Eagles Nest side. "We thought that there were 6 games - same as in the real WC qualifiers, thats why we lost the first couple of games. I mean come-on do ya honestly think we would let a bunch of useless pansy's like Krytenia score 5 if we thought the game mattered? We just wanted to give them some hope and hopefully let the wonderful game engross another nation. It was probably the biggest event ever for them, just don't tell them that we weren't trying, it would spoil it for them.
As for the game to-day, we were going to take a draw, but then we thought that if we had to win the last four matches to egde through it would be a better challenge, so I 'forgot' to mark the big #9 at the late corner and he just about managed to score with the free header! Now your telling us we only play 3 games. That's wack"
The Eagles Nest

"What do you mean they've already played 2 games???"

"Apparently they left and didn't tell anyone the matches were starting."

"Sheesh, you'd have at least thought they'd tell their coach..."

"True, but they've went 1-1 so far. They play Krytenia next. If they can win then they will be in good shape."

"When's the match?"

"Tomorrow morning"

"I'll never make it in time...I hope they make the knockout stages....oh there will be hell to pay for this....."

The Jeruselem U-21 team is unbeaten in the U-21 championship and is favoured to make the next round. In Group A, only the only other team who can qualify is the The Eagle's Next or Kryenia if TGE lose badly.

Dismay in the Second round for Starblaydia

After a fantastic 3-1 win over Magnus Valerius, Starblaydia were dumped out of the tournament 1-0 by Tanah Burung, giving the young Starblaydi's two wins and two losses for this competition.

In the final Group E game, Rodriguez Da Silva had pulled off a string of great saves to keep the scores level at 1-1 after Boomer Moore's successful one-on-one with the Valerius goalie. Ki-Jana Carter then hit a thirty-yard screamer for 2-1, before Di Bradini rounded off the win with a great run and shot to put Starblaydia through to the second round, second in Group E with 6 points and a positive goal difference.

Against Tanah Burung, who topped Group G conceding only 2 goals, the game seemed very even, with Starblaydia only conceding with half-an-hour to go. The Tanah Burung defence held well, withstanding everything that Starblaydia could throw at them.

All in all it's been a valiant performance from the U21s in their first international tournament. Plus they'll try to go one better next year!

A man is seen running towards a stadium in TnUI. It appears to be the coach of the Eagle's Nest U21 Team. As he gets to the steps he shows an offical pass and starts to go in, as a large crowd of fans come walking out.

Fan 1: Man, we almost had that match

Fan 2: yeah, too bad that shot went off TWO bars and out.

Fan 1: Well Audioslavia's a good team. They can go far.

Coach: Wait, what was the score?

Fan 1: 1 nil Audioslavia

Coach: OH NO....we lost already?

Fan 2: Yeah....hey aren't you the coach of the team? Where've you been this whole time? They probably woudn't have lost if you had been there to tell them not to do that silly 9-1-1 formation they tried.

Fan 1: yeah, it's your fault old man.

Coach: No one told me that the team had even left.

Fan 1: Ok whatever. I know you won't work for our FA anymore. I'll write in.

Fan 2: Yeah me too.

*The two fans walk away and the coach just stands there, dejected...after the crowd thins out he goes into the stadium and into the locker room.*

Hostage Situation Averted in Stadium

Insanican police force was successfully able to get the coach of the Eagle's Nest U21 team to release the 6 players he was holding hostage in the locker room after their 1-0 loss to Audioslavia. Apparently, the coach had just shown up for the tournament and went off. It is also rumored that the lockerroom is severly dmagaed from items being thrown around and that the Eagle's Nest FA should expect a small bill to arrive thier way fairly soon.

Thus ends a glimmer of hope after the National side went 0-2 on their group play, with a meaningless game against Lemmitania left to finish out what has turned very quickly from a time of great happiness, to one of total disgust.

Vilita Celebrates Historical Feat

The streets of Alikki-Corra were littered with flags and celebrations this evening as the final whistle blew on the Second Round match between the Vilita Jungle Cats and Footballing Giants Rejistania. A stoppage time header from Callum Banda propelled the Jungle Cats to a 3-2 victory of the favored Orange & Blues.

The Jungle Cats, fresh off an impressive 2-1 defeat of Liverpool England to finish 2nd in their group, only dropped points to an impressive Brazillico side to start off the tournament. The starting lineup for the Second Round remained unchanged, with Pop Duiker looking strong in goal for the Vilitans in his previous two outings.

Vilita had twice surrendered a lead during the game which looked to be heading for extra time. The Jungle Cats had gone in front early from the penalty spot, Umberto Melli making no mistake after Rejistania's Kansu Xana was penalized for hauling down Alexander Östling.

Rejistania levelled on 38 minutes when top scorer Lyku Ju struck a 30-yard free-kick into the top right-hand corner of the net.

Vilita restored their lead 15 minutes from time through Jonathon Stott, who reacted quickest after Alexander Östling's shot had hit a post.

Rejistania again battled back to equalise as poor defending allowed Mimu Jise to sneak in and score before Banda's late show.

Jungle Cat Hero Callum Banda connected with a Stott corner deep into added time, getting back at the side who made a mess of the Vilitan defense in the recent World Cup XIV Qualifiers, and sending Vilita through to the Quarter Finals with a daring header that the Rejis' Goalkeeper never saw.

The Jungle Cats will now go up against the next World Cup XIV foe on their hit list, Tanah Burung. Also from the same qualifying group as Vilita and Rejistania, The Jungle Cats will look to make amends for their second consecutive early World Cup departure by overcoming a strong Tanah Burung side to reach the Semi-Finals of a major competition for the first time in their history.
Kaze Progressa
24-05-2004, 17:39
As expected, Kaze Progressa failed to progress with their squad of eleven Faiwe Irafmas in the Under-21 championship. It was generally argued by most people the experiment should never have been taken to the international scene, and so it proved. However, the side did manage the distinction of conceding just ten goals in three games (there were four nations who let in more, including - unexpectedly - neighbours The Belmore Family), drawing with Europa Brittania who won both their other games, and scoring eight. A more sensible team will represent Kaze Progressa in the next tournament; the cloning factory in Yuzisan, on the Progressan-Belmorian border, is now dedicated to producing Alan Belmores instead of Faiwe Irafmas.

Jeruselem make U-21 quarter finals

A thrilling 4-3 win in extra time against Oaker pushed Jeruselem to the U-21 championship quarter finals. It was 2-2 after regulation full-time and Oaker looked like an upset against last tournaments runners-up. Oaker scored early in extra time to lead 3-2, but like Jesus, Jeruselem came back from the dead. Two Jeruselem goals in extra time against the trend sank Oaker's hopes.

Gales to fight Cubs for wooden spoon!

On hearing of the claim by the Bedistani cubs that they were taking the wooden spoon home with them, Gales captain John Bell commented "Will they heck (word substituted for decency) as like. We won the spoon fair and square. They got some points, we didn't how easy is that too work out? I'll give these Bedistani's one thing, they do have bottle (word changed again - Ed) even if they are as thick as sewage (ed - again sorry!). Taking our trophy - its the only thing a Halfassed team has ever won, and I'm proud to be the captain that broke that duck!"
At this point Bell stormed off in the general direction of the Bedistan team hotel, though a few of the halfassed team officals were quickly after him and were believed to have caught up with him before he arrived at the hotel.

Fugitive Football Team Believed to Be in Area
Reportedly pursued by Halfassed task force

CROTTS, ST (HDN) -- It felt as though a Gale had passed through the hotel in Total n Utter Insanity where the Cubs, Bedistan's international under-21 football team, were staying for the U21 World Cup.

Actually, John Bell, captain of the national team from Halfassedstates, didn't quite reach the hotel before being restrained by his teammates. However, the Cubs knew why he was headed their way and quickly evacuated the area. Apparently, the Cubs had helped themselves to an award (of sorts) for successfully finishing at the bottom of their group, when the award was supposed to go to the worst team overall, that being the Gales.

Seemingly afraid of reprisal, the Bedistani team members quickly went into hiding back home, but one witness has recently reported seeing about a dozen blue-and-silver clad men and women between the ages of about 17 and 20 somewhere in the woods near the town of Crotts here in the Southern Territory. It is believed Halfassed officials are still pursuing the team in an attempt to finally gain control of their precious wooden spoon, the only award ever won by a Halfassed team.

"Gales? Pfft," said one person we interviewed, "why, they're no more than a small breeze. And with a name like Halfassed, do you really think they're even competent enough to take the bloomin' thing back? Sorry, it's ours now. Go back to TnUI if you want your spoon."

Southern Territory police are reportedly searching for the rogue team in order to bring them to justice. Warrants are currently out for the arrest of them all, with one charge each of petty theft.

Jungle Cat march Continues

The streets of Alikki-Corra were again littered with flags and celebrations this evening as the Vilita Jungle Cats again upset ranked opponents to advance in the U-21 World Cup.

Again it was Callum Banda swept Vilita into the semi-finals of the U-21 World Cup III with a dramatic extra-time winner in a 1-0 victory against Tanah Burung.

The Vilitan striker got his reward for some tireless running with an emphatic finish to break Tanah Burung's hearts. It was cruel luck on the Burung goalkeeper, who gave a master class in shot-stopping at the Turfless Stadium.

The game started quickly when the Tanah Burung keeper made a marvellous double save from Banda in the second minute to prevent his side going behind and went on to hold the team together. The Vilitan striker met David Leacock's cross and delivered a powerful header that the Burung keeper turned away on the line. The ball fell invitingly to back Banda but the Burung keeper reacted superbly to push it away.

The Burung keeper was proving to be a formidable barrier and he saved twice in quick succession from Östling after Stott had whipped in a swerving 20-yard free kick. Vilita were dictating the pace with Jonathon Baledrokadroka and Jan Christiansen both seeing their efforts finishing marginally off target. Banda was incensed when he was denied a penalty after a challenge by a Burung Defender. The Jungle Cat Attack continued and there was a wave of anticipation among the Vilita fans when Stott got on the end of a cross from Christiansen. The National Team player only succeeded in blazing a shot over the top after a sweeping move which also involved Danilo Liguori.

The Tanah Burung manager decided to keep things as they were at the start of the second half even though his team had less then stellar. They made a bright start to the second half with 20-year-old Vilita keeper Bryan 'Pop' Duiker doing well to push away a header following a Tanah Burung corner. It was a good period by Burung, who showed their pedigree competition. The Burung striker then cleared the bar in the 54th minute after being released from midfield.

Vilita suddenly stepped up the pace and the Burung keeper was again forced to come to the visitors rescue. Banda, Stott and Christiansen were all marginally off target in quick succession. Then David Leacock cleared the bar before Stott rattled in a shot that the Burung keeper did well to parry. Liguori and substitute Serge Dupont then scuffed clear chances before Duiker tipped over a shot from Tanah Burung on the other end.

Then in second half-stoppage time, Baledrokadroka came to Vilita's rescue by clearing a header from Rory Delap off the line.

Vilita manager Baron O'Toole brought on the inexperienced Marasent Sioane for Östling at the start of extra-time. Sioane then found the net after being released by Dupont but it was ruled out as he had strayed offside. The young midfielder had already been celebrating with the fans before seeing the linesmans flag was raised.

However, Vilita made the breakthrough after 115 minutes when Banda swept the ball home after substitute Esemar Aliana drove it across the face of the goal.

Tanah Burung almost equalised when soon after, with their midfielder firing the ball well, but 20-year-old Duiker turned his effort onto the bar. It was breathtaking stuff but Vilita keep the momentum going after a strong defeat of Corrupt Federal States, and then highly publicized upsets of Liverpool England and Rejistania, and now look towards the Semi-Finals of a major competition for the first time in their history.

Vilita Ready for Final Round

The streets of Alikki-Corra were again littered with flags and celebrations this evening as the Vilita Jungle Cats again upset ranked opponents to advance in the U-21 World Cup.

[i]Fresh off Consecutive defeats of Renjistania, Tanah Burung and Liverpool England, Two goals inside the final 10 minutes earned elevated the Un-ranked Islands of Vilita into the Final of the 3rd under 21 world cup.

The Kingsford goalkeeper had earlier frustrated the Jungle Cats by pulling off sensational saves to palm away a Jonothon Stott free-kick and then a pile-driver effort from Callum Banda.

The 20-minute mark had band gone before the hosts at last bared their teeth when Stott embarked on a jinking run from the left wing, around the Kingsford Defense to to the byline before crossing towards Banda and Jan Christiansen only for the keeper to smother the ball.

There was more danger at the other end when Vilita were again caught dozing at a set-piece, on this occasion a lunging Kingsford player narrowly failed to connect with an excellent left-wing cross.Vilita wrested the initiative once more though and Kingsford found themselves under the cosh as the half ended, Vaesen spectacularly palming away Stott's free-kick curled from 20 yards before the Macedonia international went close with a glancing header from Matteo Ollirg' cross.

A goalless opening period ended with Vilita indignant after waved away penalty appeals after a Kingsford defender appeared to have handled Stott's cross from the left. In the second half the hosts picked up where they had left off the first as Banda burst along the left flank within moments of the restart before cutting inside and unloading a blistering drive which Vaesen athletically palmed away at the expense of a corner.

Vilita manager Baron O' Toole sprang a tactical surprise in the 55th minute when he elected to replace livewire Stott with Marasent Sioane, much to the dismay of the Hawthorns faithful who at first booed and then rose to applaud the Macedonian as he trotted from the field.

he un-ranked Jungle Cat'jangling nerves were calmed in the 80th minute as Price rose highest to power home a header from a right-wing corner flighted by Sioane.

Then, with three minutes left on the clock, Dupont made tracks along the left before pulling the ball back for Aliana who produced an assured finish to beat Kingsford low down at the far post.

Gales arrive home less one captain!

The Halfassed Gales arrived back from TnUI to-day fresh from their disasterous attempt at the Under-21 cup. The now infamous side quickly dispirsed to their various clubs, with the HFA chairman Peter Parks announcing that captain John Bell has gone AWOL.
The firey captain was caught attempting to reach the Bedistani hotel to 're-claim' the wooden spoon from the Cubs. However, when the team were ready to depart the next morning, he was nowhere to be found. Ominously, a note had been left in his room, it is believed to have been writen by Bell himself, but police would not let anyone know what it said.
Halfassed police have been working in conjuction with their Insanican and Bedistani conterparts to try and find the missing player, although the search has moved out of TnUI towards an area in Bedistan's Southern Territory.
After informing the waiting press of these developments in the man-hunt, Parks proceeded to announce that a ceremony would be held in the HFA headquarters to 'celebrate' the acheivement of finally bringing a trophy back to Halfassed.
Although he didn't show the trophy at the time, Parks claimed that it was due to arrive by airmail from TnUI within the next few hours. The ceremony will take place this weekend starting at 8pm in the HFA base in Whogivesa.

Audioslavia dont win RP award

Audioslavia lost to Jerusalem 3-1, but then went and beat Kingsford 1-0, so we rock, but not as hard as Vilita or Jerusalem.

Jeruselem crowned U-21 champions

In a thriller, Jeruselem beat Vilita 4-3 in the U-21 championship final. In other news Audioslavia beat last year's champions Kingsford 1-0.

In the game of the tournament, the scoreline reflected a fast paced high-scoring game of offense and attacking play. Critics poo-barred the Jeruselem 3-4-3 as defensively weak, but Vilita has much the same formation. This proved the offensive approach taken in the U-21 over the more defensive mindset, but Audioslavia's win with it's 8-1-1 formation worked against Kingsford.

The U-21 championship is Jeruselem's first ever cup after missing out last year.
