Assington Peace Conference (Only those involved in war)

OOC: Alright, this is a thread for the peace conference reguarding the current strife within my nation. No others allowed besides those involved.

Civilian Seaport E2, just outside Emerald City.

The ambassadors were waiting calmly when General Whang arrived at the designated location. The 1st ambassador moved forward and greeted the General, extending his hand.

"Greetings General Whang. Welcome to the location of the hopefully successful peace negotiations."

The seaport consisted of several large domes scattered along the coast and a few further inland. One of the larger domes was obviously the administration building where the conference would be held.

The area was buzzing with life as military personel worked vigourously to set up blockades of defences ranging from 5 quad minigun platforms, 10 anti-air batteries, 5 computer guided missile batteries and one Infernal. The infernal was simply a missile battery that fired two rockets. One was released towards the enemy and appropriately released canister upon canister of hydrogen gas. The next missile is fired in the exact same path, but it releases flames, ignigiting the gas. Both missiles are quite close together so and timed precisely so the gas can be ignited before it disperses too far.

1st amassador noticed the General observing the Infernal.

"Let us hope that does not need to be used."

At this moment the representatives from Valient arrived.

"Ah, more guests."

Ambassador Lan pinched the bridge of his nose as he stepped off of his flight. Asstonians...eugh. He waited as his personal car was slid from the transport hatch, and then he leapt in. "Grigor, drive."

The vehicle took off, barelling down the streets to the peace talks.

"Indeed. I believe we now only wait upon the agressors of this situation."

1st Advisor's tone was bitter, yet he maintained a level of politeness in front of guests.

"I believe a Roanian shall be present as well."

The bitterness was still there....

Field Marshal Irving Morder blearily looked over the plans that the Foreign Office had shipped him, fresh from the Kaiser's hand. Bullshit. This crap can't be Tremalkien policy. No reparations? No peacekeepers? What the hell was Von Leuten thinking when he let these orders pass? Well I know what our real priorities have to be.

As he read, his bodily drifted ever closer to sleep, finally spurring his suit to apply a stimulant. Suddenly alert, the Marshal checked his watch. We should be arriving... with a screech the Tremalkien APC came to halt in front of the Conference hall.

After clearance was granted by his half dozen Askandar Guards, the protection specialists from the Hammers, he emerged, ready to do what he knew was best for his nation.

OOC: As I am involved with both the military action and the negotiations, I will post in both forums.

IC:

Valient and D'rtang immediately singled out General Whang and headed for him, followed closely by the DEO escorts.

The two men watched as the defense emplacements were set up.

"Well, at least we won't have to worry about attacks while in here," Valient mused, pointing at the miniguns.

D'rtang only nodded, speaking next to the General.

"General, I am Joseph D'rtang, Admiral of the VRN. This is Alexander Valient, President of Valient."

In turn, Valient and D'rtang shook Whang's hand.

"So," queried Valient "Where do we go from here?"

Mikatopia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Josef Remmel got out of his jet- black limo wearing the trademark black leather trenchcoat of government officials. The coat was adorned with various medals and ribbons, all of them genuine.

His black shoulder-length black hair shimmered in the moonlight (I'm assuming it is night). He was flanked by two tall muscular Royal Guardsmen, each in a similar leather trenchcoat without the medals.

Remmel looked to the two Guardsmen and moved his head subtley, the Mikatopian Miltary Sign Language equvielnt of "Are you ready?'

The two men looked at one another and then nodded, so subltey that if Remmel wasnt looking for it he would of missed it.

Remmel smiled , put on a pair of sunglasses and entered the Ambassador building.

Ambassador Lan marched into the room, at the head of a phalanx of Imperial Legionnaires. He greeted everyone politely, and then he took a seat at the head of the table. "Gentlemen, I hope that we can discuss this matter peacefully. I suggest," he nodded to the Tremalkierian ambassador, "that the aggressive side place its demands on the table."

OOC: I'm a disinterested party, and I told Assington that I'm sending someone to mediate.

Quite frankly, I icly consider most of you people overly violent. I've had experience as a Diplomat before. If you want to have someone else take charge, then I'll step aside. If you want no one to take charge, I'll step aside. I'm trying to help.

1st Ambassador smiled as others arrived. All was ready to begin negotiations. He indicated that everyone should follow him and moved into the large, administration dome.

Several minutes later he halted outside a pair of large, polished oak doors and spun around.

"Alright. I'm sure you're all aware of the rules, but let me restate this one point. You are all allowed to have two guards present within this building. Others will have to wait outside. One shall remain outside these doors and guard them whilst the other is permitted to enter the conference. This is non-negotiable."

A few seconds of silence fell upon the group as the ambassador let that sink in. Spinning around once again, 1st Ambassador heaved the doors open and moved into a large room decorated with a suitingly large round table.

The ambassador took a seat and indicated that his guard may stand behind his left shoulder. He now awaited the others to be seated.

Field Marshal Irving Morder cast a scornful eye around the assembled diplomats. Nobody had told him yet that he would have to get rid of his suit, so he wasn't. At least they can't see me, always a good thing.

Upon the news he could only take two guards he quickly turned and with a pair of hand signals selected the two men he would bring. One, a foreigner from an allied nation, had been snuck into Tremalkier for this conference. The other...well...he was just a guard...sorta.

Quickly scanning his screens, he noticed a small message had arrived. Openning it, he glimpsed a small quote from the Bible. Laughing he decided to do as it suggested. Entering the room, he proceeded directly to the furthest back chair possible. Let them figure out what that means

Laughing inside his suit, the Marshal presented the grim mask of the suit to the world, knowing full well that this wouldn't go as everyone planned.

Remmel looked at his two guards, he only had two, thats all he really needed.

He made his move into the conference room and looked with distain upon the Tremalkier representive in his suit. Mikatopia did not have such suits, though every since the conflict had begun the government was forcing scientists to work night and day nonstop on these suits.

Remmel had no love for Tremalkier, the people there were too highly zealous. Although, Remmel could be called a Zealot of his regime, so maybe zealotness was not so bad after all.

Remmel was especially nervous of the Tremaliker and Ronanian representives, they came from heavely Christian countries, while Remmel was Jewish.

Calm down. He told himself , you've never failed in negotiations before, handle yourself and all will be fine.

(OOC: We aren't technically Christians, rather the religion is derived from Christianity, loosely. As for zealots...we all serve our interests, though some do truly have too much zeal. Finally, as for making suits...well it took us thousands of years to create this design, and its still not perfect, so have fun, I'll see you in a few millenia, once you figure out who to make the right materials, stop internal explosions, etc)

Ambassador Lan rose to his feet, and directed members of his personal security forces to leave the room. The two he picked to remain had carefully designed weapons, each one of them capable of taking out an elephant with one shot. They looked just like normal assault rifles, though.

After that was done, he scanned the table. "Very well. Now, I am given to understand that the nation of Tremalkier is representing the aggressive powers? Field Marshal, what are your demands?"
Assington
23-05-2004, 04:06
1st Ambassador calmly eyed the Field Marshal as he waited for a response. Upon a subtle signal to those sitting behind the cameras, recording commenced, noting every detail within the room.

The Ambassador was not worried about the suit. If his so called enemy felt it necessary to hide behind a mask, he could care less. The only thing that mattered was ending this conflict so the people of Assington could go back to their daily lives.

23-05-2004, 04:39
Field Marshal Irving Morder continued scanning his incoming messages. Carefully reading the stringent orders, Morder could only sigh and begin. Turning down the output on his suit's speakers, he began to speak.

"Assembled nations of Metus, and other allies. We are Tremalkier, and we represent all forces currently opposing your policies."

"Today, we see nothing different in Assington then we saw when we arrived. Persecution continues, and the believers are abused by the hand of the infidel. We still receive refugees at our gates every day. Your policies must end."

"Thereby, our demands are as such. Tremalkier is to be allowed to bring in as many as 5000 inspectors, to make sure that Assington cooperates in the rebuilding of destroyed religious buildings, and reparations to the persecuted. Furthermore, Tremalkier demands that the expenses it has put forward to protect the persecuted refugees be paid in full by Assington. Lastly, we demand that the colony of [insert colony's name here] be granted to Tremalkier to be administered as a haven for those refugees who are unwilling to go back."

"Those are our demands...for now."
Roania
23-05-2004, 04:45
"Your forces are outnumbered, and I am advised that in a conflict that the Divine Imperium will side with Assington and Melkor Unchained in this. This is an internal matter, and unworthy of a war."

He checked his own notes. "The balance of the world is at stake here...surely you can see fit to modulate your demands?" Lan turned to the Assingtonian Ambassador, and he glared at him. "However, you have some explaining to do for daring to set the world at risk of war after all these years. Do you have an explanation for President Calis's actions?"
Assington
23-05-2004, 04:59
The Ambassador returned a cool gaze to the Roanian as he listened to updated information upon the issue. Finally he spoke.

"First may I bring to your attention that those persecuted were guilty of terroism or conspiracy of terroisim. No others have been harmed in any way. I cannot make excuses for Calis, but even he agrees that he has made a harsh decision reguarding the situation. Right now he is engaging in negotiations with religious leaders of Assington to come to a conclusion that everyone is happy with."

Now turning the Field Marshal, he kept the same face. Ambassador looked at his notes for a few seconds then returned his gaze.

"According to my sources, not one of our refugees has fled to your nation. Perhaps that is because you threaten to destroy them with war. We have seen no evidence of an attempt to protect our citizens. Protecting does not involve marching in with hostile forces and threatening to destroy us."

The Ambassador took a quick sip of water.

"We may be willing to allow some inspectors into the nation, but they would go completely unarmed, and numbers would be far smaller than you suggest. The fact still remains that this was an internal affair and your nation had no right to intervene. Anyone that does not wish to return to Assington is welcome to move to a number of other nations without us hindering them. There is no need for a colony."

The Ambassador fell into silence as more information came over his ear piece.
Mikatopia
23-05-2004, 05:41
Remmel smiled at the Assington Ambassadors well played politics.

He then turned to the Tremalkier Field Marshal. He coudl see the man was insecure, the man hid behind his metal suit, not a thing a good ambassador would do. Then again the Field Marshal probably was more military type, always afraid someone was out to get them.

"We of Mikatopia agree that Tremalkier violated Assington's rights as a sovereign nation by barging into Assington's private affairs. Now, as the Tremalkier government may not know, this is not a good politcal move. I understand that you held concern for the religous of Assington, but they have not been harmed in any physical way. If God doesn't like it, then God will deal with them when thier time comes. You sir are not God. You can speak his word and spread his Good News, but killing people is not what religon is about.

Now, considering what I have said, I must speak for myself and the Mikatopian government when I say that in no way shape or form do we approve of Assington's decision to ban religon, but all we will do is point our fingers and say: 'shame on you.' We are NOT going to go in and kill innocent lives and make life hell for the people of Assington. While this may be the Tremalkier way of diplomacy, this is not the way the world works. If the citizens of Assington were physically being abused and slaughtered, I assure you that Mikatopia would be the first to enter in and liberate. But this is not the case. War should not be waged over such things, and such bloodshed is utterly stupid, especially in this situation.

In my opinon, Tremalkier should get a 'spanking' of sorts, some sort of taxation or repremand, then be forced to leave the nation."

Remmel sat back down as he let his words sink in.

To whom it may concern,

Although I understand these talks are quite close to commencing in progress, but the Imperial Dominion would be interested in sending a representative to this summit [probably myself].

I feel it necessary to apologise to Assington for the rather delayed response, as I understand it could be contrued to mean that I'm not interested in what goes on in your state. I assure you any delay in that regard is my fault personally, and I can only hope it doesn't reflect poorly on the Imperium.

With Imperial representation at this conference, I can eludicate the aggressors as to the Imperium's policy demads as it pertains to Metus and Assington's defense. Remember now, no one save for the speaker [or a chosen representative thereof] can claim to speak for Metus. Quite frankly, my presence is vital if you're to seek Metus support.

Warmest regards.

Foreign Minister Jay Reaven

***
Reaven strode through the corridor with purpose, a satchel in his hand. He whistled idly to himself as he made his way through the tunnels and up to the Executive Transit Station [ETS], where he and his entourage were to board a shuttle bound for Assington. He had sent a letter as a formality of course, but he knew that in order to count on Metus' support, Assington would pretty much have to take him. Besides, Assington was an ally. A nominal ally at best, but still, it didn't seem too likely that the Imperium would be turned down.

As he came to the tarmac chamber, he grinned broadly. 25 of the Imperium's finest bodyguards awaited him: trained rigorously in the arts of the vaunted 'exec protect' program offered by the Imperium's finest academy, the men were, to say the least, very good at what they did. They had to be, if they were to protect someone like Jay Reaven. Most of them were probably counting on some manner of ill-conceived assasination attempt.

Reaven closed on the shuttle and the men snapped to attention. One, clad in crimson, approached the Foreign Minister with a grin. "Hello, Mister Reaven. Looks like were going to Assington today!" he said with a chuckle. "Lets see if we can get you back in one piece."

Field Marshal Irving Morder nodded at the words of the Assington Minister, not really paying attention, they wouldn't affect his stance. However, once the Mikatopian minister was finished, the Marshal could barely constrain the rage that so wished to be unleased upon the room in a halo of gunfire and grenades.

Glad his suit would again dull the seething rage in his voice, the Marshal made his seemingly calm and collected response. " Who are you to tell me that I am not God? Do you know that? Who are you to tell me what is the way of my religion? Do you know it? Do you practice it? No. Our God is a god of vengeance, reminiscent of the God from your "Old Testament". How you dare to question our policy, and say that is not how the world works is beyond us. This IS how the world works. Men and nations do not change their ways through gentle prodding, they do it serve and save their own interests. War has been waged over lesser things for millenia. If you cannot broach the waters of war, then don't come grovelling before us when your weak policies of appeasement fail. We shall not allow any situation to escalate."

"To finish, our demands are unchanged, and until such a time as the Mikatopian government issues a full apology for the statements of Mr. Remmel, the Tremalkien government has withdrawn from this Conference. Until then, goodbye."

Standing, the Marshal signalled his guards, and left the chamber.

If looks could kill, the Imperial Foreign Minister would have easily struck down anyone in the room who looked to him upon his entry. Clad in a simple black suit with no tie [he always hated them], he nodded to his guards, leaving two of them at the door. The other two followed him in as he searched for a place to seat himself. He glanced at the Assington Minister. "You'll kindly pardon my tardiness," he says firmly, with as much pleasantness as he can muster. "But the Foreign Ministry has been very busy lately, and to be honest we didn't expect this situation to escalate to the degree which it has." He bowed his head slightly, and took his seat.

"So...where are we?"

Hustling after the Tremalkieran Field Marshall, his personal guard moved to follow him out of the room. One of them, a hair slower, scanned the room deliberately, settling on the Milktopian minister before leaving.

Out of the room and heading away from the conferance room, the "guard" notices the arrival of the imperial foreign minister not far away. There was an imperceptible change in his step, undoubtable blazingly obvious to the elite imperial guard, as he looked away, choking down a grimace. Things were not going as planned.

IC: Remmel glared at the Ronanian ambassador, "I'm sorry sir, but who are you to expell me when Assington is in charge of the confrence, I will not leave unless the Assington delegation tells me to do so." He smiled at the Assington Ambassador.

"Now, before I am removed, I would like to make some closing comments. I am indeed sorry that theTremalkieran delegation cannot bear to understand the truth. but the fact still stands: There is absolutley no valid reason for Tremalkieran troops inside Assington. Not one. The people of Assington have not been harmed, and already I am told that the Assington government is working out a solution with thier religous leaders.

My fellow delegates, the Tremalkier way is a way of action, not of words. In my opinion, a government that sends a man in full battle armor, readily equiped I would presume, is not a government intersted in peace. I still do not see how I have insulted the Field Marshal, I was making points that if I had not made, someone else would have. Tremalkier cannot think that they may barge into Assington and harm its citizens with no concequence. There are apporximatley 2.271 billion people in this country, and even that is an estimate. If action is not taken against Tremaliker, we are in effect damning 2.271 billion people to an untimely and unecessary death."

With that he sat down and folded his hands, waiting for Assington's verdict.

Indeed Mr. Lan, the attack on Tremalkier and Sketchian forces could be effective, but I am not sure war is the answer either. Tremalkierian forces seem to be devoted to this cause, and the more we kill, the more they will send. Too much blood will be spilt. Mikatopian soldiers are like this as well, we train them, or as some say:brainwash them," He grinned again, "to the point where they are utterly devoted to duty. What does this mean? It means many Mikatopians will die needlessly for this cause. Therefore, I believe that this confrence may be the last possible way to avoid bloodshed. So on behalf of Mikatopia and my self, I apologise to the Tremalkierian delegation."

I'd just like to point out that at no time did I actually officially announce my intentions. While it may be obvious that my position is indeed with Tremalkier, via fleet movements or whatever other justification you need to fabricate, there is no proof that I am part of this deal. If you will note, there has been no formal Sketchian commitment either way (sans private communications with Tremalkier). To attack me outright without just cause would be a folly on your part, even considering your METUS backing. It would be far more prudent of you to try and convince me that my interests lie elsewhere. Not to mention, attacking rashly would do much more to hurt your cause than help it.....it's not like waiting will cause any harm

OOC: For the record, I was under the impression that Sketch had outrightly declared itself to be with Tremalkier. My apologies if it is otherwise.

Also for the record, in response to Tremalkier's comments about international waters...

And your point is? If a fleet is obviously maneuvering to attack a country, then international waters is no longer a legal protection. Sorry about that, but international law is pretty evident. Also, I'm pretty sure that the mere existence of your beachhead might be considered a declaration of war. Still, I'll let Assington decide that one, the break-up of the conference means that my work here is done, and it's now all in the hands of the military hyperpower we like to call Arda.

I'd say it was nice knowing you, but since we've crossed swords before Sketch, you'd think I was lying.

Reaven slammed his fists on the table angrily and rose slowly. He was quite clearly, in every conceivable sense of the word, enraged. "God dammit, you fucking prats!" He roared, his fingers clutching and releasing the air slowly as they rested at his sides.

His gaze turns first to the Roanian. Lifting his hand, he levels a finger at the man. "I just flew halfway across this god damned planet to be here for this ridiculous excuse for a 'Peace Conference,' he shouted. His voice grew louder but he did not move, nor did his guards stir. He grilled Lan with his gaze, still pointing at him, thrutsing his finger forward to stress certain points. "And I've got you waving your prick in the breeze like you're King Shit."

He shook his head, and lowered his hand. "You goddamn Roanians could fuck up a wet dream, I swear to God," he announced loudly. "You don't run the show here, and if anyone does, it's him," he continues, pointing his finger at the Assington rep. "And not your presumptous ass."

He turned his head and broadly addressed the rest of the delegation. He seemed to have quite a bit of vocal capacity."We're not here to kill each other, for Christ's sake!" He rests his knuckles on the table. "Am I the only professional here?" he asks, turning to his guards. He gestures to them, and turns back to the delegation with a loud laugh. "The only reason I'm toting these fellows around is because I don't trust anyone here or anywhere else further than I can throw them." His gaze flickered back to Lan. "And, of course, there's a level of incompetence I've come to expect from the general body of ambassadors which one of my post is often likely to come across. My men are not here to kill other ambassadors. They're here in case crazy little bastards like you decide to put your money where your mouth is.

He points that finger at Lan again. His voice slowly rose again. "And if it's your intent to shoot me or anyone else for what they have to say here today, then you'd better be able to hit me more than once because it'll take a lot more than that to stop me, by god. There is a time for war; any Ambassador or ruler worth his weight in shit knows that." He says a bit more quietly. "All you've done here is destroyed your credibility and exacerbated the situation. I'd suggest, for the remainder of these talks, however short they may be, that you shut your mouth and listen, for a change. It should be a novel experience."

1st Ambassador rose and made his way toward the door. The scene caused by Reaven not disturbing him.

"I shall speak with the Field Marshall."

He departed before anyone could object, his guard remaining whilst others joined him outside. Quickly moving down the hall, the ambassador caught up with the Field Marshall.

"Field Marshall. Perhaps we can have a word between us. I have been informed of changes within the government's stance upon religion that I'm sure you're government will be interested in. Let us forget the petty bickering and come to a reasonable agreement."

Lan fell silent, considering his options. "Very well, Minister...perhaps I did...speak in haste."

(OOC: People, you might want to look at the Assington post itself for my changed stance. My troops are withdrawing, moins some rogue elements. Also, the Conference is about to be hit by the Hand, so if you've got anyone important in there, that is someone who can't die, get them out now)

Remmel relaxed when he heard the news. The Tremaliker forces were leaving, the religous of Assington were free to worship again, all was well.

He smiled at all present and sat down quitely and sipped his glass of water.

All would be fine.....

OOC: Tremaliker, you have permission to kill Remmel if you wish, I really don't care one way or another, but if you DO: Remmel is also a member of the Mikatopian Royal Guard (Mikatopia's version of the Gestapo/SS) and he is armed with a Wolfram PP7, he wont go down without a fight.

OOC: Tremalkier. As I understand it, the hand is underwater. This dome the conference is being held in is further inland by a few hundred metres. The Hand would have to burrow through solid rock to get underneath it.

Not to mention the extensive land, air and sea defenses surrounding the complex.

OOC: The underwater guys are understandable. But the hand inside the city? How do you propose they go in? Keeping in mind all cities are on high alert, civilian activity is non-existent and military forces are everywhere. Also, the port isn't in the city, it's a few km down.
__________

IC: First Ambassador cursed. The complex began to rumble slightly as mortar barrage commenced. Heading back to the conference room, he spoke to all those still present.

"We have an emergency aircraft in place for such a situation. Would any of you care to follow me or do you wish to leave by your own methods?"
__________

Sirens buzzed all over the base as the mortar fire continued to damage the complex. Planes were already in the air and naval vessels have locked onto the source of the attack.

A squad of 10 hunter submarines moved towards the targets at full speed, torpedos and motion tracking drills armed. Active air forces in the area locked onto the source of fire and proceeded towards target, ETA 5 minutes.

(OOC: Go back to the very beginning of the situation, the very first thing that happened was the Hand arriving, and about 2/5ths of them went into your city. This was before you even announced anything about security, or brought up the military. They were in before the big trouble began, the rest, those not underwater or originally in the city, would probably be located directly around it, and moving in thanks to the forces already inside. Also, before I forget, don't take these rebels as making Tremalkier weak. Note that its mostly the foreign legion. This has been a storyline thats been built up for a long time, and now its occuring. Doesn't really effect Tremalkier itself, but more like its colonies and other holdings. Think massive conspiracy theory that actually is true.)

OOC: Point taken about them landing initially. But as I understand it, the hand are all in suits. That isn't exactly difficult to spot, especially since Assington has no suits within the military.

Also, let's keep the military actions in the other thread, I forget that when I last posted. We'll just do the whole evacuation of delegates in this thread.

Remmel looked around the room of ambassadors, seeing their fear. He was afraid too, but Mikatopian training had taught him how to keep it off his face. Motioning to his two Guardsmen, Remmel spoke:

"Friends, as I am fully trained in military and martial arts, I will not be leaving with you, rather, I will be assisting Assington soliders repel this terrorist attack.

I have only known you gentlemen for a very short time indeed. Yet, there is no group of human beings that I respect in this world more than you who are assembled here. I forsee that a few of us may not escape this country alive, but even if we are to all perish, at least it was for the most noble of causes. It may not have been this body of Ambassadors that ended the conflict, but just the fact that you came here to prevent a war that could claim billions of lives speaks volumes. Today you have saved 2 billion Assington people. You came here knowing fully that war could erupt an you could die. Yet you still came.

On the behalf of Mikatopia: I thank you. And with these words I bid you all goodbye, may we meet again in a better time and place..."

With that Remmel and his guards left the hall, guns drawn...

1st Ambassador nodded to the Mikatopians as they departed before gathering all those that remained into a protective barrier of his guards. They all rushed quickly through the shaking halls, occassionally having to dodge splintering walls.

Finally they reached the dome exit, just as the mortar fire ceased.

"You may now either take the air escape vehicle we have provided or find means of your own. The choice remains forever yours."
