Stadia

Commerce Heights

Cliff Broquard National Stadium sponsored by Air Terranordalis
http://www.thirdgeek.com/national%20stadium.png
National Stadium, initially built for a WC11 hosting bid with Kaze Progressa, became the home stadium of the Commerce Heights international team for WC10. The stadium was built with 135,000 seats, equal to James Parker National Stadium in neighboring Bedistan, though the stadium has recently been renovated to allow for extra seating if necessary (renovations are not shown in the image due to stricter regulations on the usage of helicopters and airplanes over downtown Commerce Heights). The stadium is expected to use the extra space to increase its capacity to approximately 145,000 for the final.

Chan Mrzigod Memorial Stadium
http://www.thirdgeek.com/memorial%20stadium.png
This stadium, the only major soccer stadium on Terranordalis's Southern Continent (most Commerce Heights land is on the Northern Continent, also known as Paleoparipia), was originally known simply as 'Memorial Stadium' when it was built, long before the Commerce Heights Footballing Federation was founded. The stadium has hosted many important domestic matches, and is often used in NSL final games because New Lexington has little chance of actually reaching that game. One of the few international matches hosted there was a match against then-#2 Haraki, which the CH Bulldogs surprisingly won. If TBF and CH are selected as WC15 hosts, Memorial Stadium will most likely be the venue for at least 2 knockout round matches.

Noka Communications Stadium
http://www.thirdgeek.com/noka%20communications%20stadium.png
Noka Communications Stadium, the largest stadium in the Jativan Islands, was the first stadium completed in Terranordalis. Though it has not been used for many major events before, the CHFF decided to put an end to it and request use of the stadium for a potential WC15 hosting bid. Noka Communications Stadium will most likely only be used in the group stages.

Chorion Industries Stadium
http://www.thirdgeek.com/chorion%20industries%20stadium.png
Chorion Industries Stadium is a relatively new stadium, completed in 2 TE. Since the stadium for the West Bend NSL team has not been completed, it is home to both the Chorion Bluffs and West Bend squads. Though it appears to be a baseball stadium when viewed initially, this is an intricate illusion created by a Maxisoft product, and the poor performance of this product in most situations causes its true purpose - soccer - to be revealed occasionally outside of matches. This unusual stadium will be used for the group stage and second round only.

[note: Unity Stadium (capacity 75,000; International City, Terranordalis) was to be used for the bid, but the recent sinking of the Siokaji Islands and the resignation of Lontorica from the Terranordalis Union have caused the CHFF to reconsider the wisdom of holding a WC match in international territory which Lontorica partially controls.]

The Belmore Family

Flavento Stadium

Cost: 59,000,000 alans = US$102,813,400 = CH§51,381,400
Completed: 3 Jan 2004
The all-new Mussex United Stadium was purposely designed for great all-around viewing. With the circular design and perfectly angled seats no one's view will be compromised. Filled with 40 commentary boxes all around the stadium this stadium will provide stunning TV moments.

Belmorian International Stadium

Cost: 89,000,000 alans = US$155,091,400 = CH§77,477,800
Completed: 11 Jan 2004
Belmorian International is a real feat of design. Holding 100,000 citizens it creates a great atmosphere and will lead teams to glory as it hosts the World Cup third-place playoff. To the North of the stadium is a giant roster, purposely built to hold the cup of which TBF is hosting.

Winter Wonderstadium

Cost: 49,000,000 alans = US$85,387,400 = CH§42,639,800
Completed: 17 Sep 2003
Located in the northernmost region of TBF, Faci is one of the most spectacular areas for football. Consistently covered in ice or snow, the ball zips off the top testing the keepers to extreme. A place great for the stars but not if you're only average as many players found out in the BPL last season.

Alan Belmore Tribute Stadium
http://www.thirdgeek.com/tbf%20alan%20belmore%20tribute%20stadium.png
Cost: 26,000,000 alans = US$45,307,600 = CH§22,625,200
Completed: 13 Nov 2003
Located in the southernmost region of TBF, right on the border with Belmorian Scandinavia, this ground is punishing on the athletes taking part. With temperatures reaching up to 40ºC, lasting the whole 90 minutes is tough. With the Datelian Flaventoes being promoted to the premiership for the new season, the crowd will be ready to see some stars in action.

Grippa International

Cost: 30,000,000 alans = US$52,278,000 = CH§26,106,000
Completed: 29 Mar 2003
The oldest stadium in The Belmore Family, located to the east of Alan City in the Belmorian desert. Surprisingly enough the teams that hang on to the rounds that this stadium will be hosting will be treated in luxury despite being miles away from civilization. The locals of Alan City old town are ready for footballing action so vote TBF/CH for WC15 host!

The System

The TBF-CH bid will use the proven KPB formula used in WC12, a formula which uses the points accumulated in the KPB rankings instead of sequential ranks assigned to teams. The KPB point system allows differences in team strength to be more accurately represented in the formula. In addition, it will eliminate the need for an RP bonus multiplier to be used for newbies, since the square root already makes the RP bonus count more for low-ranked teams. The exact details of the RP bonus to be used are not yet available, since this might allow for exploitation of the system and the bonus is still being tested.

In qualifying, there will be 15 groups of 7 drawn using pots. After 14 matchdays (a significant improvement over the 18 taken by the 10 groups of 10 in WCs 13 and 14), the top 2 teams in each group will qualify, along with the hosts to make 32 teams for the first round.

EDIT: The RP bonus system to be used in the bid has been finalized.
RP Bonus (added to rank points) = Quantity Bonus + Length Bonus
Quantity Bonus = number of RPs since last bonus update * 0.125 or 0.5, whichever is higher
Length Bonus = number of characters (as in alphanumeric characters, not as in in-character ;) tables, previous results, and other items selected by the hosts as 'non-RP' - i.e. Spaam's 'blah' paragraph in WC12 - will be excluded from the count) * 0.0002 or 1.5, whichever is higher
The RP bonus will be recalculated every 2-3 matchdays.

Strengths/Weaknesses

Strengths
KPB points instead of sequential ranks allow for the difference between team strengths to be better represented in the formula
Formula has already been tested in WC12 and seemed to work well
Total of 16 Cups of participation and several hosting experiences (including CH's future hosting of the pre-WC15 Baptism of Fire tournament) between co-hosts
RP bonus is not subject to fixing, as it does not take quality into account
New qualifying system will allow more teams to participate in a shorter qualifying than the system used in the other 3 bids
We have more strengths listed than the other bids
We're smart enough to use the phpBB [list=] tag instead of formatting the list manually :P
Anything I forgot ;)Weaknesses
Like LE, TBF has made numerous failed hosting bids
Length-based RP bonus can allow exploitation (but other RP bonuses are either subjective or don't take anything into account other than the presence of RPs)
We have more weaknesses listed than the other bids (but we wouldn't if I removed this weakness ;) )

I take it the Savana Football Grounds, used by a national team that nearly qualified for WC14, doesn't quite qualify as a "major soccer stadium"? :P

I meant in the CH-controlled portion of it, not the entire continent :P

(besides, Tingitana is an 0mfg n00b  )
