Is my airforce realistic?

I was hoping I could get some insight. My nation has a population of 2.725 billion, tax rate of 67%, is a democratic socialist nation, has an economy rated as frightening, and has defense listed as the third priority being juggled by the government. I've been working on a map and military of my nation, and was hoping to get some input since I don't have any experience RPing. Any pointers would be much appreciated. I've nearly finished my airforce and was wondering if it was too big or too small for a nation of my size. My nation is imagined to be mainly an air and sea power with a weaker army of 8 or 9 divisions.

My current airforce consists of:

96----- B-1 Lancers
288--- B-52 Strato-Fortresses
-----Total 384 heavy bombers

300----- F-22 Raptors
1200--- F-15E Strike Eagles
2600--- F-20 Tigersharks
700----- F-111 Aardvarks
180---- A-7 Corsair II's
-----Total 4980 strike fighters

180----- C-5 Galaxies
120----- C-141 Starlifters
40------ C-17 Globemaster III's
155----- C-130 Hercules'
-----total 540 Cargo aircraft

320----- T-38 Talon Training aircraft
-----

I haven't finished my mid-flight refueling aircraft and AWACS composition yet, but was wondering if what I had is good. I've made a chart dividing my aircraft into wings and listing thier bases on a national map as well. I've never RPed before, but thought I might eventually get into it. Again, I would be thankful for some pointers on if it's too big or small.

I was also thinking about giving my navy 16 Nimitz class/Enterprise sub-class aircraft carriers. Is that too much? Thanks for any input.

For a nation that big, I think it'd be almost realistic.... but 2600 fighters of one type is a hell of a lot.

Your nation must be floating on a sea of oil.

BTW, my army has a corps of 10000 snipers. They infest cities that are being invaded and systematically take down the enemy army... it means I often take all of their equipment intact.

This would be unrealistic, if I didn't have auto-conscription :)

The F-20 is the cheapest fighter ever to operate. They cost about 2/3s that of an F-5 to operate. You can operate three F-5Es for the price of one F/A-18A/B.

Snipers are very rarely picked from conscripted troops. Additionally that strategy wouldn't work because enemy police and citizens would almost certainly fight back against the snipers. It would work in a defensive or civil war situation however, because then you don't have to deal with infiltration.

Our prefered strategy is a blitzkrieg with an aerial assualt behind enemy lines once air superiority has been gained.

Don't use so much American technology. News flash: it's expensive, and not worth the price. Develop some of your own weapons, son. Indigenous stuff, so you're not America's bitch.

Good luck keeping that army against armor or helicopters or napalm.

Well, I prefer to use real life hardware instead of made-up indigenous stuff. It makes it easier to compare multiple militaries, ie a force of 200 F-111 Aardvarks is clearly outclassed by a force of 250 MiG 29's - but if a force of 200 DF-861 Hellions meet up with 250 EBF-46L Skyfuries, it seems like everything would be much more confusing. And, with that, I tend to prefer American hardware to Russian and European hardware. I will admit that you do have a point on that though, my airforce is totally American at this point. I'll look at changing the F-15E Strike Eagles into EuroFighter Typhoons, seeing if there's another aging "on its way out" strikefighter I can use instead of the A-7, and seeing what alternatives there are for the cargo and training aircraft.

Thank you for the pointer, but I still want the F-111's long range since my nation is imagined to be a collection of multiple islands, some big and some small, the F-20 is so cheap I don't think there's a viable alternative that offers similar performance, and nothing comes close to the performance of the F-22.

American heavy composition aside, since there appears to be no comments on it, I take it that the rough numbers and costs of my airforce are fairly realistic for a nation of my size?
