"And this is the Imperial News Network." Ivan shuffled his papers, even though he had the tele-promptor in front of him. "The Holy Czar has announced that the Militaristic Imperial Reich of Derscon will be hosting the 2004 Winter Olympics. That time has come again for the nations across the globe -- and the galaxy, for that matter -- to join up and participate in the Olympic Games. The Czar was quoted as saying that 'The Olympic Games are designed to promote frendly compitition, promote athletics, and to bring nations together.' He was also reported stating that 'Whole wars have stopped because of the Olympic Games, and I wish to promote this brotherhood and peace.'

"We have Stephen Goering out at Saint Petersburg, where the games are going to be held. Stephen?" The television split to show Ivan at the studios in Moscow and Stephen at Saint Petersburg.

"Thank you, Ivan. As you can see behind me, major preparations are being made. The last major international event held here was five years ago, the Daytona 500, and as most of you know, TFU agents detonated a nuclear weapon, and the late Czar Rekjyavich the Second died, along with all the racers and 720 other innconent civilians.

"You can see that the Olympic torch is being placed to the right of the monument build in memory of those who died in that blast. Thankfully, the entire city was cleared of the harmful materials and rebuilt. In fact, Saint Petersburg is fifty percent larger than it originally was before the blast, and the giant Peter's Tower is in the distance, standing one hundred and fifty stories tall, making it one of the largest buildings in the world. The large Olympic banner is being prepared to hang on the tower. The banner is approximately twenty-five stories tall, so it will be a HUGE banner.

"Security is airtight, even now, during the setup. It is obvious the Czar doesn't want another tragedy to occur like the one that happened ten years ago.

"About the Security, Ivan said, on the other side. "What exactly IS the security like, Stephen?"

"Well," Stephen started. "Like I said, even NOW, during the preparations, it is air-tight. everything within a one mile radius is being patrolled by Derscon SS soldiers. Every hour, the place is being sweeped by the SD, and you can easily see Army Ranger snipers around. Even the Second Chief Directorate of the KGB has people here."

The SCD of the KGB was the most efficent branch of the Ministry of State Security -- The Counter-intelligence branch.

"Wow," Ivan said back in the studios. "The Czar really doesn't want anything to go wrong."

"No he doesn't," Stephen said. "In fact, rumors are going around that the Derscon SPARTAN soldiers will be patrolling in full MJOLNIR-VII battle armor. Well, this is Stephen Goering, live from Saint Petersburg. Back to you, Ivan."

"Thank you, Stephen. The other half of the screen disappeared so it was a full screen of the studio. "In other news, the Syskeyia situation......."

Well, when the Olympics start, which won't be for a bit, the Opening ceremony will be RPed, then the space in between will be RPed, then, of course, the events will all be RPed out. For sport events, though, the posts will be short, and go back and forth often. Anything else?

The Confederacy would like to regester its' Hockey, Figure Skatting, and Cross Country Ski Racing Teams.

Nope, this is NS. Athens doesn't exist. Plus, in RL, it is the SUMMER Olympics, but I like the cold, so I'm haveing the WINTER Olympics. The Place is Saint Petersburg, Derscon.


And Kenhood, I'm having the WINTER olympics. Track isn't gonna do much. Unless you want to track through the seven feet of snow on Herklanov Mountain.

The Allied States of Techn would like to register its Hockey, Figure Skating, Downhill and Cross-country ski teams, as well as it's Snow boarding team.

We would also like a contingent of our own military personel to make sure that our athletes have the best security possible, so we will have nobody but ourselves to blame if something goes wrong.

Derscon has security covered, but we understand your need for it. Unfortunately, we must deny your military presense. The Czar Himself strictly stated no forces other than Derscon forces are to enter Saint Petersburg during the Olympics. Reasoning is because he doesn't want another Daytona 500 tragedy like the one 10 years ago.


Zadomtokal, you don't have to move anywhere. You just send whomever is going to Saint Petersburg via plane and RP from there. There will be a thread, but since it is the Olympics, I am going to give a lot of time for people to sign up.

Hee hee. For Figure Skating and Hockey, yes, but only because the ice is too thin on the lake, and the lake is Derscon Naval Property, all tresspassers shot on sight, etc, etc.

Nope, sorry, can't give you an approx. time. I'll either TG everyone when it starts, but I'm creating a new thread for the games. This is just the signup. Like I said, I'm gonna wait a bit. I want LOTS of people to join. After all, it is the OLYMPICS.

Well, I suppose I have to withdraw my track team, but the Kenhood Basketball team prides itself in being a well disciplined and very respected team.

I would also like to request the ability to have 5 minorly armed bodyguards to protect the players.

My proposal, I send my 12 players to your country, and for every two people we have one bodyguard(6 in total). We're weary of travelling out of our region at the moment, and are only looking out for the best interests of the athletes. I assure you they will be armed no more than a standard police officer.
