Christians Push Assington Too Far

Assington National News Report

Last night an enormous explosion rocked the streets of Topaz City, destroying several city blocks and killing people within the high hundreds. The bomb was believed to be placed in a local education centre that was newly constructed after an ancient christian cathedral was demolished to make way.

An unknown christian group has laid claim to the attack and warn that several more bombs will be placed unless the government agrees to fund christian churches. As christianity is an insignificant minority within Assington, the government does not offer any funding. The group is pushing for a massive christian movement within the nation to oppose the government until demands are met.

Among those killed within the blast are the President's sister and two cousins. They were present within the education centre running a lecture on the theory of evolution when the bomb was detonated.

Information is still being gathered as emergency workers investigate the scene and begin the long clean up of such a horrific terrorist act. A statement from the President is expected this afternoon.

President Calis is seen standing behind a podium, contained rage evident upon his face. It is obvious the President has not had any sleep in the last two days as the issue has weighed heavily upon him.

"People of Assington. These blatant attacks upon our nation by these christian factions are unacceptable. It is common knowledge Assington is an atheist nation and has bee for some time, yet still we allowed christians and other faiths to practice at thier will. This will end tonight. Police have informed me of the thwarting of several similar attacks by other religous groups such as Islam and Hindu. This will not be tolerated."

Calis paused as he took a large swig of water then resumed.

"From this night on, all religion within Assington is hereby banned. In all forms and methods, no religious public display of faith is to take place within these borders. Of course the people are free to believe as they wish, but that is up to them and can be done within the privacy of their own homes. All churches will be destroyed, religious gatherings are outlawed and are punishable by penalty of jail or corporal punishment."

A man dressed entirely in black approaches Calis and whispers a few words into his ear. Calis nods in acknowledgement and returns to his speech.

"A special agency will be designated for the task of purging Assington of all public religions. They shall also act as the enforcers of such laws and are able to deal judgements and punishments. Their identity shall not be disclosed to the public."

A long pause whilst Calis gathers his thoughts.

"Those responsible for this attack and planning these other attacks will be executed immediately."

The President leaves as questions from the media erupt into a buzz of inquisition.

The screen goes blank.

ANN News Report

The President has informed the public that all those of any religious faith that object to his ruling are free to leave the nation within the month without any trouble from the government. Already several hundred religious groups have begun moving out of the border to keep their religious freedoms intact.

An unknown bishop has sent a letter into the ANN HQ voicing his opinion. The bishop stated that President Calis' actions are disgusting and he does not deserve to rule Assington.

The President replied with a comment stating that christians and other religious groups had gone too far. He had allowed their public practices and yet they demanded more.

Reports of mysterious men dressed entirely in black have begun to appear around holy sites, all bearing a number of weapons. They have no identified themselves but are presumed to be the 'agency' designated to handle the religious issues of the nation.

King Doran today came out with an statement condeming the actions of President Calis as punishing the many for the actions of an few and that such behavier was an great miscarrage of justice as well as utterly dishonorable. The Nation Of Mikatopia, which usually agrees with Assington's seemingly harsh politics, is "disappointed" that the Assington government seeks to ban public religious displays. President Samuel Whyte had this to say...

"Though we will not condemn the Assington government, we advise that President Calis to reconsider this edict. While the media and people can be restricted for the common good, religon cannot. Indeed, it is forseen that this act will cause MORE religous-fueled hatred and terrorism. I am saddened by President Calis' loss, but this does not justify religous intolerance."

ANN International Report

President Calis has made it clear that he will not undo his recent orders and the new laws shall remain in place. He assures the internation community that no harm will come to any peaceful religious followers as long as they abide by the laws. Religion is still allowed upon private property such as people's homes.

He also states that he will allow anyone to leave peacefully if they object to such a ruling, but he will not change his stance. Tensions have been growing between the atheist government and the religios minorities and the President is sorry to see this happen, but they have gone too far.

Another two bombs were found this morning bearing numerous religious scriptures. This merely fuels the President's relentless decision. All nations that wish to offer refuge to the various religious followers of Assington are allowed to send transportation if they wish so.

The demolition of churches and temples within Topaz City commenced today. Even more mysterious men have been spotted, yet no confrontation has yet to happen.

The christian group responsible for the blast in Topaz City were caught and executed last night. No details about who they were or where they were found is being released, but the government can assure that they were responsible and have paid the the price.

More details as they come in.

-----------------

President Calis has made a comment about justice being served for the deaths of what is now believed to be a death toll of 865 citezens. The groups that placed the two most recently discovered bombs are still being hunted.

There now seem to be several hundred black clad men within all cities of Assington, overseeing the destruction of churches and the hunt for more religious terroists. Although there has been no official identifying of these men, they public have dubbed these men as 'Dark Angels'.

The Knesett of the nation of Parsha, being a country founded on religious freedom, finds the actions of Assington gravely dissappointing. We are also upset that capital punishment had been imposed on the accused in this case. While we will not sever diplomatic ties, as that solves nothing, rather we will defer to the consensus of the other countries, and the United Nations. We, again, must state that we grieve for the reactions of assington but, then again, we are not assington, and, therefore will not claim to know all the circumstances. We do, however, wish you peace. Shalom, and may hate and persecution end.

The Kaiser approached the podium with the deliberation of a man slowed by age, for so he was.

"Friends and countrymen. Today the clouds of religious persecution set over Assington. There can be no mistake here. We have heard the reports of "private property religion" before, and it has always ended in massacre. There is a thin line that separates the destruction of public religion with that of private persecution, and it is a line blurred through violence. For that reason, Tremalkier must set forth an ultimatum. Either Assington will cease its vicious continuance of a cycle of religious violence, and allow its people to practice as they wish, or at least impose some type of state religion upon them. They cannot continue with this all-out assault on beliefs. Should they refuse this, Tremalkier will intervene to stop this persecution."

"As such, we must be prepared. It has been a long time since the Tremalkien war machine rolled forth, yet any who claim we have lost our edge delude themself. For the purpose of preparation of intervention, I have authorized the movement of the Third Fleet accompanied by the Pretorviski Carrier Group and the 3rd, 7th, and 22nd T-Wolf submarine squadrons to begin to create an interdiction zone around Assington. The 14th Hammers, along with the 2nd Iron Eagles, and the 62nd artillery corp shall compose all ground forces."

"There shall be a resolution. One way or another."

Those that were executed were guilty beyond doubt and recieved the punishment terroists do in our nation. I have not used violence upon the innocent religious population and I do not intend to. Assington is an atheist nation and has been for at least 100 years now. The total religious population in Assington is equal to about 5% of the total. There is no injustice against the people done by us. The injustuce is the murder of over 800 citezens of my nation.

I urge you to not make rash decisions when you do not know all the facts. If you object so much to the situation, you are welcome to open your borders to any that may wish to leave Assington.

I must say that i support Assington. A great attack has been done to Topaz city, and that crime had to be avenged. No matter who did it, the fact is that destruction should not be tolerated. Thats is not a case of religious war, but terrorism. Those who attacked Topaz city may have done it in the name of their god, but thats not the important. THe important thing is that they killed almost 700 people. If a religion encpourage that kind of action, it have to be stop.

The president of Assington did what he had to do and I dont think other nations should blame him for that.

In a statement issued today, Maester Seymour Guado, of The Holy Empire Of Seymour Guado, had this to say;

"You are over-reacting President Calis...what the Christians did was very brave, and you should not condemn them for that. They simply did what they thought was right. 865 dead? Heh...that's nothing. Your population will continue to grow. Little damage has been done...all can be fixed in time.

You are acting too much upon your emotions...that is not what a good leader should do. You simply want revenge for the death of your family...and you are hurting innocent people to satisfy this hunger for revenge. You are acting inefficiently.

I support The Kaiser of Tremalkier...your people should be free to do as they wish...and if that includes killing one another, who are you to stop them? You are not God...you cannot choose who lives, who dies and who does what...you have no right to do so.

Besides...if you do not do as The Kaiser wishes...the loss of life will be unbelievable. Considering how weakly you've reacted to the death of 865 people...it would be rather humourous to see how you would react to the destruction The Kaiser and his army would bring forth..."

With that chilling comment, The Maester ended his statement.

Empress Ithenril nos Galadriel was concerned about this, she was a C’tanist yes, but a majority of the Thelasi population was Christian, as such, she saw it fit to act, in some way.

Recently, the nation of Assington has banned all practice of religion, including, but not limited to, Islam, Christianity, C’tanism, Buddhism, and The Faith. As this is a dangerous road to take, and one which in the future may lead to even harsher actions, I am opening the boarders of Thelas to all legitimate refugees.

Unfortunately, Thelas is somewhat distant from Assington, as such, I am sending the Fifth Grav-Fleet to a position 200 Kilometers off of the Assington coast. The fleet will station there, rescuing refugees, checking them, and either returning them to Assington, or they will send them back to Thelas.

We warn the government of Assington to not interfere, all refugees are under Thelasi protection, any attack on them, the fleet, or the transports will be considered an act of war against the Thelasi Star Empire.

We deeply hope that the government of Assington reconsiders their actions.

Thank You, and Good Night.

Soon, from space, the twenty warships of the Fifth fleet plunged through the atmosphere, descending in a blazing cloud towards the coast of Assington, aboard the fleet were 20,000 marines, soldiers of the Second Rapid Response Force. The fleet hovered above the water, 200 KM off of the Assington coast there they waited.

We would like to register our concern over this unwarranted mobilization of troops and military posturing. Such behavior is not beneficial in any way to any of the peoples concerned, particularly the citizens of Assington, whether they be atheist or a practicioner of religion. We appeal to the concerned nations to cease and desist from any provocative military action, and to withdraw all troops from the vicinity of international borders.

The People's Republic of Kerker would welcome the temporary stay of Assingtonian refugees, which will be interred in designated refugee camps. These refugees will be granted Asylee status, unless found to have pending criminal charges against them in any court, to which they will be extradited.

"If the forces diverted do not turn tail, the Empire will set up a military blockade to prevent intervention in Assington internal politics, and any effort to breach that blockade from the outside will be met with all necessary force.

"However, if Assington requests that such a blockade not be set up, the Empire will adhere to the sovereign right of Assington to make that decision.

"Finally, the Empire fully condemns the over-zealous actions of the government of Assington, and those of the Christian extremists that have brought such trouble to that state."

Stepping away from the podium, the Kaiser was quickly ushered into a side room. Without ever taking his eyes off the maps in the War Hall, the Kaiser issued the long awaited orders.

"Get me two brigades of Niall, and get them into Assington now. If they try and go after our beachhead, I want them shattered. They must realize they cannot win this."

With these orders set, the Hall began to bustle once more with activity, nobody noticing the man slipping towards the Kaiser from the shadows. Security Advisor Von Leuten. With a voice like a whetstone against a blade, the true finale was revealed.

"The Hand of God has been unleashed on Assington."

The Ineffable Empire doesn't use chemical or biological weapons. Our ships carry small numbers of nuclear weapons as standard, to give them an occasionally needed edge, but chem/bio weapons are rarely if ever carried. None of the ships dispatched carry any, indeed the whole Empire has infintesimal amounts of the stuff.

Good afternoon, Kevin Tracy the Great, this morning, addressed the crisis in Assington and had the following to say:

[i]"The destruction of all religious places of worship is an outrage. If my Holy Empire was stronger, we would be standing alongside Tremalkian and his growing coalition right now. Because we have our own defense conserns though, we will not deploy. I do offer any economic or political support the coalition might need.
I also support the religious resistance in Assington and offer ALL refugees and freedom fighters political asylum in My Great and Holy Empire where they will be free to worship with my people.
President Cali, I emplore you to cease all actions and grant equality to the religious in your government."[\i]

Kevin Tracy the Great finished by putting on some big blue sunglasses and platform shoes and saying that a deaf, dumb, and blind kid plays some pretty good pinball. 8)

We are pleased to hear that the IE of TST has downgraded its chemical and biological warfare capacity extensively, and, as a show of trust, choose to accept the word of the IE of TST on this matter.

If the Ineffable Empire requests such aid, the Empire would be willing to provide fighter cover to protect incoming non-military vessels (such as medical ships) as a show of willingness to co-operate with Metus regarding the Assington situation.

Tremalkier

(OOC: I would suggest GDODAD as a whole not get involved here. I was myself a member not too long ago, and I have allies scattered throughout the alliance. It wouldn't make sense to have an inter-organizational war now would it, especially considering the fact Tremalkier might temporarily join said organization for a couple of wars that are currently being put together. As such it wouldn't make much sense to have this grow way out of proportion, i.e. nukes and 100 million men army, both of which will be ignored as they are solely the basis by which bad RPers work. Lets try and keep this restricted)

The Kaiser has released this press statement regarding threatened GDODAD intervention, as well as nuclear threats.

"In this escalated hour, we have seen the entry of two major forces, in the form of Diminix and The Silver Turtle, both well known, and by some highly regarded, yet by others regarded with nothing but apathy."

"Tremalkier has always prided itself on its ability to refrain from the use of massive armies, and usage of WMD in its warfare, as use of such denotes nothing besides an honorless, and pathetic nation."

"Tremalkier is hereby announcing its plan of action. Due to the extremity of the situation, the Vault is to undergo full wartime preparations. Any and all unregulated bunker movement is hereby banned. Surface movements are banned. Unregulated radio emissions are banned."

"At the same time, Tremalkier must reaffirm its earlier stance. We are here to stop persecution. Our forces that are arriving are solely to protect refugees. Any attack on Tremalkier forces will be taken as an act of war and warrant an immediate response."

End Press Statement

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile...

With a scurry of motion, men hurredly placed pins depicting all non-Tremalkien forces arriving near Assington. The heavy movements of both Diminix forces, and arriving Silver Turtle ships did not worry the Kaiser.

With a sly grin to his SA von Leuten, his joy barely restrained he began to speak. "Can you believe these knaves? They are bringing, AIR FORCES, AIR FORCES, in to face us? Haven't these fools ever heard of the Salvage Plains, where our Darts incinerated enemy squadrons before they could ever reach us?"

"Yet you forget my Lord, these men do not fight like us. Few do. They talk of nuclear weapons, and air superiority, yet they never bother to read up on their enemies. They do not understand Suit Warfare my lord. For them it is always talk of millions, pouring fire at one another. Greater and greater forces, yet never better and better forces. A single Hammer suit contains as much firepower as one of their entire squads. The fact is they don't understand how to fight it."

Nodding, the Kaiser's mind, slowed by age, slowly came to grasp with what Von Leuten was suggesting. "So...you are saying that we should let them attack us if they wish?"

"Yes my lord."

"Yet...what if they unleash their nuclear attacks?"

"Sir, you do realize the capacities of our suits don't you? Each of those suits was specifically designed to shrug off area effect weapons. We aren't talking about primitive armored knights here sir. We are talking about the result of five thousand years of tweaking, and refiguring. Each of those suits weigh as much as jeep, and are more heavily armed to boot. If it wasn't for the H-3 generators, nobody would be able to move inside of them."

"If they are so damned good then why do they still die under goddamned rifle fire?"

"Because every advantage yields a disadvantage sir. We can arm our men with a pair of Dart launchers, an auto-rifle, any number of accessories, and give them a sensor-communication system unrivalled in the world, yet all of that yields a disadvantage. These suits are built for major engagements. They are meant to shrug off support fire. Artillery has to squarely hit them to destroy them, aircraft has to evade the Darts to get at them, WMD have to penetrate armor to reach them...but all of this sacrifices numbers. We cannot put foward the numbers of suits that others can of normal units. Its why we also have the Militia Corps. A suit can withstand most rifle fire, but it does penetrate some of the time, and we do have casualties. That is why we must use our advantages to the best. In a small engagement, a single Hammer can destory a brigade of riflemen, if it has time to dig in, and full targeting abilities granted by the satellite grids. Yet if that same brigade is dug in, and the roles reversed, only properly trained officers know how to use our advantage."

"Sir, our forces are unique. There is nothing quite like us in the world, and we have to accept that few people understand how to fight us."

The Kaiser slowly nodded, his mind numbed as always by Von Leuten's twisted words. Still nodding, he could barely utter "What do we do now?"

"Let loose the Hand of God. They know what they are doing. We've given them Assington style weapons to go with their own. Let loose this new band of Christian terrorists, and Assington's consequental attacks on religious structures will only reaffirm our mission. If we let the Hand of God kill...say...5 towns and poison the water supply of a major city, that should do the trick."

"They cannot be traced to us?"

"No my lord. They are like me, dissenters from various nations. No one in their right mind would suggest such a motley crew would come forth from Tremalkier."

"What of the Niall?"

"The Niall? You dispatched Niall without informing me?" Rage contorting his face, it was with obvious difficulty he retained composure.
"Niall. Fine. Unleash them on something else. I don't care. There your babies, not mine."

An hour later the orders arrived in the headset of the Niall commander, Uskan Toria. Simple orders. Pest Control.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Under the seas around Assington's coast, a sudden rupture boiled the surface for only a moment, then was gone.

Ten minutes later the Hand of God had arrived in Assington with only one order. Kill everything.

(OOC: Let me just put forward my intentions here. If this becomes a full fledged war, fine, but let that wait for a little while, as I'm hoping to develope the Hand of God a little, especially its commander, the half crazed General Jornin. Also, a couple of clarifications. You can read up on suits in the link I provided earlier, or at least the divisions of different types. Also, lets try and keep this clean, i.e. no WMD. Honestly, WMD do nothing but turn good RPs bad, and who uses them? Only those who cannot win by any other means. In terms of fronts, if this becomes a war, I was thinking one in Assington, another on the Seas, and depending on Thelas' decision on how much they'll join in, maybe another land front as well. Finally, in terms of total nations involved, lets try and keep this down a notch. Too many nations does nothing but destroy a good RP. Given Diminix, The Silver Turtle, and Assington's GDODAD status, it seems that the maximum involvement could include one more GDODAD nation. As fo the other side, myself, maybe Thetis, and another large nation would make it a pretty balanced fight. Agreed?)

A MISATmk1b shuffles into a new position, propulsion system 'firing' for several long seconds after the position is attained to hold and lock into a so-called magnetosynchronous orbit. Similar to a geosynchronous orbit - but far lower, and requiring an electromagnetic propulsion system - such as magnetic impetus.

The MISAT - actually, MISAT-U (Magnetic Impetus Satelite/Advanced Tactical Unit) - applied pressure to its mercury lens observation telescope, powerful enough to count the hairs on the back of a flea at sea level from cislunar space. The satelite passively observes movements of forces towards Assington, relaying exact MPS co-ordinates back to High Command in Nenya.

"They do not respond, Sire," reported Ambassador Nejure.

Semir-randil scratched his chin thoughtfully. "Tremalkier concerns me. Our intelligence is sparse on their capabilities... if we provide air support for humanitarian support missions into Assington, we'll need to know more. - Thank you, Ambassador. Continue to wait for a response. If none is forthcoming, I will personally prepare a statement."

"Understood," Nejure's trimensional image stated flatly, before the corner of the room where his three-dimensional image had been projected returned to normality.

Semir clicked open an old-style contact in his desk. "Commandant, divert passive spotter drones to..."

He pokes at the numpad on his desk. "...these co-ordinates."

"Those are international waters, sir," the Commandant on his screen pointed out.

"And that's why I'm ordering passive spotters, Commandant. I'm sure you have some with civilian markings; have them set to meltdown if they're approached by any object not proclaiming one of our FOF acknowledgement codes. - Oh, and Commandant: have a recon squadron be put on hot-standby."

* * *

Two-hundred nautical miles off the coast of Assington; outside the economic exclusion zone of that state, squarely in international waters. Here, presumably, lies Tremalkier's fleet - although components of it are known to have moved inwards towards Assington.

Soon, the Tremalkier fleet would note inbound radar contacts - if they could detect the tiny spotter drones, flying low at 2,000 feet above sea level. If the drones are not shot down, they raise to 20,000 feet when their passive visual detection systems sight a naval vessel. They then attempt to take images, to determine size, shape, and number of the warships in the area.

I don't really want a space war, but it's become a standard tactic of mine to drop mechas and some advance forces in from orbit. At the same time, we would like to remind all other nations of the fact the Assington is a sovereign nation and can make laws of its choosing, and we are shocked that certain nations would be willing to go to war because of a legitimate government not doing what other governments tell it to.

Because we are relatively small, we cannot engage militarily if this becomes a war. In the event of war, however, we will send raw materials to Assington, to help them defend their sovereignty. We hope that it does not come to this, as it would be greatly unfortunate for everyone involved.

(OOC: Well I fight near-future, suits are just well powered machines carrying modern armanents. No space involvements, as you said, its too much work for something like this. As for Mechs, I've always despised the things myself. If you tone them down from the normal 30 ft tall, HVM launching goliaths to something more along the lines of my suits, then there shouldn't be a problem. No artillery however I cannot really accept. Tremalkien warfare has two facets: One destory enemy support hopes by usage of Darts. Two, always have lots of artillery. Every Tremalkien Unit has at least 50 pieces standard, most opting for more. I can go around this somewhat, but it'll mean a consequental deduction of your forces somewhere. Dropships are fine as well, assuming they can be destroyed, I use much the same thing myself. As for participants, if you bring in Nod...that'll have to prompt a counter-super power nation to join me. I was thinking Sketch, and maybe having Nak nak supply me or some such. In the meantime, the Hand of God has some work to do)

Grand Admiral Feutcang wasn't having a good day. Already one T-Wolf was reporting jamming in its missile tubes, whilest the few destroyers that had arrived had promptly begun a disagreement over what quadrant each was assigned too. Just one of those days

Glancing around the bridge, the Admiral noted one technician a little too intent on his board. Ignoring an overriding sense of dread, the Admiral glanced upon the screen that seemed to be warranting all the attention. Tiny green blips popped in and out of the screen, and the Admiral loosed a sigh that seemingly melted away all the ill feeling formerly pent up inside him.

"So, they are sending recon in? About time. Well, let em look for our fleet here, they'll find exactly what they expect. A small surface group, nothing out of the ordinary. Better shoot one down just to be sure."

Turning towards a weapons technician he nodded, and three missiles were loosed upon the incoming drones, two of which would miss their targets, no matter what.

"Good, things are going according to plan. Let them watch this fleet, and note its occasional state of the art equipment, but largely standard stuff. Let them think our missiles can't strike them down. Let them believe this is all we've got. But we aren't fools, we don't stay in International waters for long."

Meanwhile in Assington
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With a fierce crash in his chest, Arthur Rawlins knew he had landed. This would be his first engagement with the Hand of God. He had be chosen at the age of 8 to fight with them, and so all traces of his history had been erased. His family notified of a loading dock accident, his fingerprints erased, his face undergoing plastic surgery. Yet a dozen years later he wasn't sure he had made the right choice when they gave him the opportunity to be impaled rather than fight with the Hand.

Looking around, he saw the rest of the Hand gathering its equipment, and quickly jumped to do the same. The plan would be to stash the suits at the beach, and infiltrate Assington as native radicals. The men looked the part. One and all had undergone major reconstruction to look the part of the native, their vocal cords forcably reshaped to emit the accent of a native, fake records written to explain their existance. The Hand did nothing by half measures.

As he lay away his suit a scent appeared to him such as none he had ever witnessed. If rot was condensed into a single smell, this was it. It was only the crash of the single largest suit he had ever seen that finally provided the definite identification of the man. General Jornin. Quivering, he quietely asked the first thing that came to mind. "General, what are those upside down crosses with crossbones you've got on your shoulders?"

Turning slowly, he looked up, only to see the top of the Generals head. With obvious surprise he lowered his gaze onto a man less imposing then he would have ever imagined. Until that man spoke. "Those my son, are the marks of the heathen. Each represents a city of at least 20,000 of the unbelievers that the Hand has annihilated to the last."

Yet it was only once the General's eyes fixed upon him that Rawlins felt the first true fear he had felt since joining the Hammers. Those eyes were dead, there was no joy.

There were forty five crosses.

Speaking softly once the General commenced the attack. "Come men, we have unbelievers to kill. First stop, whatever resevoirs we can find. Second stop, whatever major communications lines we can find. Last stop, the closest seaport. Oh and kill anything that moves that you see along the way."
Mikatopia
16-05-2004, 05:58
President Whyte walked up to the podium in the Palace of Mikatopia today and had this to say...

"Tremalkier, we do not want to fight. This is no reason to kill, as a religous nation you should agree, this is not how the Divine powers wish to spread happiness, through death and destruction...if that IS the case, then God is a mindless, evil dictator who cares nothing for us. I understand that you are concerned for the religous of Assington, but as far as can be seen, no physical harm has been unleashed upon them.

Now one must understand that I am opposed to President Calis's desicion, but I am equally opposed, if not more so, to taking the fate of Assington into our outsider hands.

In order to try to resolve this conflict of opinion, Mikatopia will host a party for all leaders of nations involved in this disagreement. Here we may relax, eat, and discuss the matter like the civilized men and women we are.

Thank you and good night."
Callisdrun
16-05-2004, 06:41
Callisdrun would like to agree in every way with what the president of Mikatopia just said.

We shouldn't be killing each other over God(s) or the lack of. While we think Assington's measures are somewhat unnecessary, especially the destruction of the church buildings, the individual believers have not been abused or harmed in any way. No one has been even suffered a scratch, with the exceptions of the people killed in the terrorist attacks, the terrorists executed for those attacks, and probably some of the demolition workers tearing down churches.

No one wants war over this. Assington isn't telling anyone else how to run their country.

Thelas
16-05-2004, 14:55
Empress Ithenril had been sound asleep, that was until a somewhat embarrassed aide rushed in, babbling about a war with the GDODAD. In several minutes she was standing in front of a podium, shuffling notes,

“Ladies and Gentlemen… recently I dispatched a naval fleet to a position two-hundred kilometers off of Assington international waters. We have no territorial interest in Assington, and have even less interest in war. Apparently, many nations have misconstrued our acts as acts of aggression. This fleet is NOT an invasion force, it was meant to rescue people leaving Assington, people who were too poor to buy an airline or train ticket, people who would make rafts out of logs and twine.

I beg the leaders of all nations involved with this matter to use their sense; no one has any need for a war now. To show our good will, Thelas will not mobilize any more forces to this area, we will only send transports to carry supplies, troops on leave, or refugees, I hope that this will show our good will to the people of the world.”

****************************

From: Empress Ithenril
To: The Great Ineffable Bob

Our forces are about to be drawn into a war near Assington. This crisis must be averted or both sides will suffer. No doubt you remember the Shadow War in Knootoss, I believe you might also remember the loss in prestige that all nations involved suffered.

A peaceful solution must be found that preserves the honor of all nations involved, with minimal to no loss of life.

***************************

To: President Cali
From: Empress Ithenril

I do not need to tell you that this entire situation is about to degenerate into a full-blown war. We both know that the Thelasi fleet is not an invasion force, yet some nations seem to think that it is. A war could seriously and permanently harm many of the nations involved, and it would no doubt be in your best interest to avoid a war.

I am open to your ideas.

General Announcement By The Great Ineffable Bob To All Nations Involved
The Ineffable fleets shortly to be arriving are merely there to protect Assington against any military action taken against it. Ships will not be obstructed or attacked if they are noncombatant. Refugees may be removed peacefully, we will not interfere. However, should any retribution be taken against Assington for their deeds the Ineffable forces will strike at any military targets from the responsible party.

Message from TGI Bob to Empress Ithenril
Agreed. My forces were dispatched in an attempt to keep the peace, though I fear some people are more determined to act.
However, I wish I need not fire upon your forces. Mine have orders only to attack those starting trouble, they will not take someone firing a shot as the go-ahead to lay waste to anything that moves. I have no intention of starting a war.

Aboard the IS Razor's Edge
General Whang looked at the reports. Tremalkier looked most likely to start something. Indeed, there was some strange event that ocurred a few hours ago that may have been something starting. They were still half an hour away. Hmm.
Giving the order, he had two parties of three Aurora fighter-bombers dispatched on scouting missions. It looked vaguely cloudy, he didn't entirely trust the orbital photos. He glanced at the sky involuntarily, and noticed an array of golden-red streaks racing across the sky. The dropships, and the mechs. They'd be heading for large, unoccupied spaces near the sea. Whang knew that 50 of the streaks, the larger ones, were dropships, carrying a total of two thousand Ledan marines. The other 70 were J.E.D.I. mechas. This was just the contents of one of the ten carriers assigned to this mission. Hopefully the others wouldn't be needed, and could stay over The Silver Turtle, but Whang was doubtful. He'd been in too many of these situations before to misread the signs.

The Imperial Palace, Nenya, Ma-Nenya, EOTED

It had been at least a month since the last full official convention - physical - of the Imperial Executive Council, not including the work that all were doing at the ongoing Constitutional Congress.

Indeed, Rialla had enjoyed the 'rest' somewhat - but so much for that, now. Seated around the Table of Tables were all the members of the Council - herself, Semir-randil, Dejure, Aglar, Ax-randiri, Danielle - and none of them were merely transmitting from distance, as was usual for the Vilya Elenoston contingent.

The meeting had actually been going for some time, but Rialla had spoken only to open proceedings; the others had been bickering over involvement or non-involvement for the last twenty minutes.

Rialla raised her hand for calm, deciding that the actual meeting probably ought to start about now - this crowd would argue for days if allowed. "I believe we ought to discuss current options rather than whether or not the Empire was correct to attempt to interfere in this matter. - As we are all aware - we all voted on the motion months ago - we are striving to naturalize relations with Metus. This action is a required action for that reason alone; by defending Assington but striving to maintain our neutrality, we have maintained our previous position - 'anti-evil', if you like - and also moved towards our new position (anti-nothing).

"Now, I'm sure the Congress has made us all rather argumentative," chuckles around the Table, "but we ought to move on to our options. So?"

Rialla looked around the Table expectantly.

Ax-randiri Rihad stood, cleared his throat. "I respectfully suggest that the Empire stick to its current plan: non-interventional militarily excepting for humanitarian purposes."

Rialla nodded.

Semir shrugged. "I still think we ought to intervene if a war breaks out. Amerigo was the greatest enlargement of our sphere of influence that we've ever experienced; I think Assington is a very similar situation. We support and deride both sides of the argument - we disagree with the Assington internal policy decisions and disagree with those who wish to interfere with them (after all, Assington is not enacting ethnic cleansing). So why not support both sides equally, should war occur, by intervening with a large force to seperate both sides and force a peaceful conclusion?

"I'm sure High Lord Commodore Rihad will agree: if we time our intervention correctly, we can ensure that our forces are not directly involved in the combat while still exerting pressure upon the two sides to withdraw - in essence, we would make it too difficult to continue any engagement that begins. Because that would be our only objective - we would not be concerned with knocking out the enemy capacity to make war, for example - we would be able to divert far more significant resources to a single goal than the combatants would be able to divert to stopping our activities. Furthermore, because we have the capacity to strike without causing death or injury to property, it is partially plausable that we will be able to pursue this path without actually shifting our diplomatic stance at all with regards to those states entangled in the military conflict. In other words, we may not have to actually declare war without acting dishonourably - these would merely be surgical strikes to prevent a war."

"That's all well and good," Danielle, High Lady of Vilya Elenosto and, originally being from the Federation of Sentient Peoples, the only foreigner on the Council, said softly, "if it works. I don't see any similarity between this situation and Amerigo, frankly."

"Nor do I," agreed Aglar slowly, "because in Amerigo, we committed minimum forces to maximum potential. Nobody knew what we had back then; now, they do. This is different: I say stay the course."

Rialla sighed. This was going to go round and round for some time, she saw; she really didn't have an opinion yet - she tended to form those last, based on the opinions of the others in part; she found the discussion helpful, it fired her thoughts and gave her a direction to follow - but this time, she felt the need to actually contribute at this early stage. "I think we should recess and consider what we've discussed," she intoned softly.

The others nodded.

IDS Nenya, Central Atlantic Ocean, International Waters

Commodore Duponte gazed out across the ocean from the deck of his flagship, the IDS Nenya, with a sense of forboding. As the only Battlegroup away from home port, the 3 Naval Battlegroup - the Nenya Battlegroup - was most likely to be called upon to engage in combat operations if such was needed in the near future. Such as in Assington.

The reports from back home disturbed him; that was why he was up on deck. He was a Nenyan, and the sight of the sea disturbed him; it rolled and rippled, and somewhere deep down in the part of his genetic structure that was still Quendi, he quivered and yearned for it - but that imperative was gone: that Road was not for his kind.

Still, the sea was beautiful. Even in fear one could see that. Which was why he was here; the beauty of it, mixed with the fear, seemed to sharpen his senses, bring him awake: and so with this feeling of clarity, he shivered slightly in the cold breeze, and gazed to the South, back towards the Empire... and ignored the prickling at the back of his neck which always seemed to arrive shortly before danger.

As the Kaiser watched new markers being pulled into place to symbolize the arriving Diminix and Silver Turtle forces he allowed himself the first smile in a long time. Still things were going to plan. There was so much that could go wrong, yet so long as they looked and planned for their type of war, Tremalkier would persevere, as it always did.

Glancing at the latest reports, he knew that Von Leuten's words had been true. The hostile forces were being brought in a such a way as would present opportunities such as few Tremalkier's navy had ever had. Diminix, foolishly had split its navy and army. Satellite reconaissance had picked up the movements quickly, as they were hard to miss, and rather stunned the Admirals present. Who in their right mind would split their forces like that? Realizing the opportunity, the D-2 submarine group had been given shadow duty of the Diminix army. Staying out of sensor range, and deep enough to be out of the range of non-terrestrial equipment, the subs would tail the fleet, waiting for any order to pounce.

The Silver Turtle forces appeared largely the same. Using dropships and mechs in the open ocean, they appeared to be monitering the surface just as the Diminix forces did. A little force of T-Wolves and Zodiacs would be plenty to hold them.

As such he slowly surveyed the map. The T-Wolves were there in enough strength to hold for quite a while. It was the largest dispatch of T-Wolf squadrons since the Galahadian crisis had nearly seen the entire fleet go there. Twenty five squadrons of T-Wolves, not to mention the main Devastator group, should be more than capable of holding the surface huggers for a long time. It was only when he saw the great black star placed near the coast of Assington that the Kaiser almost hoped that someone would attack him. A zodiac fleet, nearly 5,000 strong already was ready to be unleashed. These fools wanted war it would appear, but they'd have to take it on Tremalkier's terms. Honestly, who else would send a fleet of submarines and rubber tubes (propelled by gasoline engines) to fight aircraft carriers and battleships?

(OOC: For those of you who haven't encountered my zodiacs before they are basically a rubber tube with a gasoline engine manned by two men. Equipment varies from small torpedo launchers, to suicide craft, to Dart launchers)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Hand had only just begun its actions, yet already General Jornin felt God's favor descending upon him. Today was a great day to send a river of souls to the Lord for his judgement. Gathering his men he brought forward once again his pocket Bible, marked beyond recognition to any man beside him.

" For all of those whom doubt me, I bring before you the argument of the Lord. Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT. Every city and province, without exception, that does not observe this decree shall be ruthlessly destroyed with fire and sword, so that it will be left not merely untrodden by men, but even shunned by wild beasts and birds forever. Esther 8:24 NAB. The men of Israel withdrew through the territory of the Benjaminites, putting to the sword the inhabitants of the city, the livestock, and all they chanced upon. Moreover they destroyed by fire all the cities they came upon. Judges 20:48 NAB."

"What we do, we do for the Lord."

Putting away his Bible he quickly issued orders.
"The First Born are to go and search for water supplies. Poison them all. I want them dead for a thousand years. Nothing to live in them, for they have fed the unbeliever. The Second Born are to search for any kind of communications and sensor equipment. It is to be destroyed, and those whom work it put to the sword. The Third Born are to infiltrate the nearest seaport, where the First and Second born shall join them in three days. The Fourth and Fifth born shall come with me. 'Emaciating hunger and consuming fever and bitter pestilence, And the teeth of wild beasts I will send among them, with the venom of reptiles gliding in the dust. "Snatched away by the sword in the street and by sheer terror at home Shall be the youth and the maiden alike, the nursing babe as well as the hoary old man' Deuteronomy 32:23-25 NAB. We shall perform the true work of the Lord. All will die whom we come across, and all their possessions destroyed. Let nothing live, let nothing escape, leave no stone unturned. For even the so-called faithful of this land have done nothing to stop this sacrilege. If they join in the slaying, let them join you. If not, put them to the sword."

"Go now my sons, and let the Lord's will be done. For our Lord is a vengeful God, and those who desecrate his temples shall suffer under his Hand. For we are the Hand of God, sent to punish the unbelievers."

(OOC: I was thinking that peace conference would be a great idea. If its held in a neutral seaport, i.e. where the Hand is resting, then perhaps some crazed religious fanatics might blow it up  , and set off the storm)

RE: Defense of Assington

Friend, the horns of war can be heard throughout your nation. The threat of war is given off by the demons of Thelas and Tremalkier. There is no question that Diminix must fufill the Metus charter and come to your aid. With your permission, we shall begin shipping Urban defenses to the three largest cities within Assington, including the Capital. Along with that, I also suggest and/or request the deployment of the 6th and 8th armies to Assington. Our Air and Naval assets are being sortied and seperated from other missions around the globe at the moment, but in a while, we will send you another comminque with proper naval and air deployments.

ANN News Report

As the suspected war draws ever closer, the pressure of danger to the citezens of Assington has sparked an unexpected event. Thousands of christians and other faiths have stormed the streets in protest of the invasion of their homeland.

Many signs have appeared condemning the actions of Tremalkier, stating a that religion is not about killing non-believers but living in peace with eachother and living one's life the best they can.

In a demonstration of true nationalism, the atheist population has joined the religious in the protest, demonstrating they are above the prejudices that the government of Assington and Tremalkier are displaying.

Bishop of Topaz City has made this statement to all hostile forces.

"I implore you all to desist your military action against our nation. It is true that our President has overreacted to the actions of several fanatic groups. His pain in understandable and we should mourn for the loss of so many lives.

Violence is not the way to solve things. You claim to be doing this to prevent loss of life whilst all you will do is cause even more. Let us negotiate with our own government and work this out."

Several others echo the Bishop's statement as demonstrations begin to erupt all over Assington.

President Calis appears behind a desk in his office.

"Nations involved in this conflict. War is the last thing the government and the people of Assington want. As you can see even those that fall victim to my decisions have been more clear headed than us.

I am sure that my fellow leaders do not want to cause a bloodbath over internal disputes as I do not. Reflecting on my decisions, I agree that I have been harsh and will commence negotiations with religious representatives of my nation.

May I also make an official statement backing up Thelas. They never stated to being hostile towards Assington and merely provided refuge for any wishing to leave the nation.

On a darker note, Tremalkier forces have been detected in several key locations and continue to threaten Assington. Military forces have been placed upon high alert and have moved into defensive positions all around the nation. They shall not attack unless provoked.

I do hope we could prevent any blood from being spilt and come to an agreement over such matters.

Good day."

OOC: The mechs and dropships are landing in Assington, not in the ocean
The IS Razor's Edge
"General, there's something you should know about this."
"What is it?"
"It's the Domination stealth subs, sir. They've detected something."
"What is it?"
"Well, they appear to have hostile intent. There are some submarines, and some other things."
"Things? Make sense, fool!"
"No details yet sir. It's nothing we've seen before, on the sonar it reads, well, it looks like rubber sir."
"Hmm. Keep them watched, I don't like the sound of that. Have they detected our subs yet?"
"Sir, are you joking? They're near invisible to us, and we designed and built the damn things!"
"Just testing you soldier. Now, move the fleet forward and start landing the troops. Have the two fleets go either side of the Tremalkien forces. It'll look threatening, and it'll give us an excellent position if they start attacking. I want the troop transports protected, mind you. They are to stay inside the Hells' formation, and I want no less than ten subs in an inner net around them.
Oh, and make sure the HyperSoars will be ready if called."
"Aye sir."

From: General Whang, Commander of The Ineffable Armed Forces
To: The Tremalkien Commander
Greetings. I'm sure neither of us want any pointless wastage of lives, so what do you say to some sort of a conference? You could make some requests, we could, and then we could all go home without killing anyone. Sound good?
In the mean time, don't be alarmed by my forces movements. We're merely landing our troops and equipment in Assington. We don't want to kill you if we don't have to.

Assington
After the landing, in which nothing appeared to have gone wrong, the troops stayed in the dropships as they glided along on their grav-drives. They'd landed not too far from a cliff, overlooking a large beach, and off on the horizon were visible the massive fleets. A quick check with the General determined that the 4th army would land here, protected by the troops dropped in. Getting to work, they piled out of the dropships. These took up position along the cliff, aiming their single gauss cannons in the general direction of the massed ships. The troops began setting up camps, it could be a while before they could leave...
The mechas, however, had landed closer to a port. Unfurling from their drop-positions, they assembled into their groups of five and ten of these headed towards the port, while the other three went to the beach to meet the troops.

Samuel Whyte and Mikatopian War Minster Harold Wesly walked in the dark levels below the Mikatopian Palace.

"God dammit!"Whyte swore, " This wasn't supposed to happen!"

"Sir?"

"I didn't think they'd actually start deploying troops, Jesus...."

"None of us did sir..."

Whyte began to swear vehemently, in English, German, and finally French, Wesly was relieved to hear French, it always meant he was calming down.

When he assumed that the President was sufficently calmed, he inquired: "Should I deploy forces sir?"

Whyte shook his head slowly and closed his eyes, "That won't be nessescary Harold."

"But sir, your speech...."

"DAMMIT HAROLD! Don't you get it? That speech was bullsh*t, I didn't really mean any of it. Nothing. Look at me Harold, do you think that a dictator of one of the most brutal governmental machines really gives a damn about a bunch of Jesus-freaks?"

Wesly shook his head. He was a bit offended as well, Mikatopians didn't have much freedom, but religon was utterly free. Wesly was a Lutheran, and proud to be one, helping out God's children any way he could.

"Anyway, I am taking care of the situation. War isn't the answer, the answer is getting rid of Calis."

Wesly was shocked, and raised his eyebrow inquiringly.

"Indeed Harold, with a new President, Assington could repeal the damn act and make everyone happy."

"So you're gonna stop supporting Assington?"

"Hell no, if I do that, the international media will have a field day. Plus, it will make Calis pissed if he lives. But I dont plan on that..."

"How?"

"Harold Wesly, meet Reverend Lopez."

Wesly looked up to see a man in all black, from his trenchcoat to his hair. All black, except for his collar, the white collar of a Catholic priest. His dark brown Hispanic skin looked so smooth and shone even in the crappy flourescent lights.

"Rev. Lopez will be taking care of our problems with Calis..."

"I shall take him to God. He will be purified and baptized by my bullets."

Wesly realized the man was serious, he actually thought he was helping Calis...

"Yes, God is good," Whyte said as he smiled," You better hurry, your plane leaves in an hour."

Rev. Lopez smiled, made the sign of the cross and left.

Lopez had heard what Whyte thought of "Jesus-freaks", when he came back from saving Calis's soul, he would undoubtably come back for Whyte.

(OOC: Can you explain how that happened? The whole point of the Hand is that its undetectable, it goes in silently, destroys, and leaves. The whole idea is that what they do cannot be traced. To explain how they arrived, they are transported in what is basically a modified submarine torpedo tube. They reach near the target, the tube fires, they hit the shore a couple hours or minutes later, depending on initial distance and accuracy needed. Furthermore, they were deployed unsuited, so they created no electrical fields or anything from starting the suits gear. How you detected a group of men dressed in native clothing, and armed with only hidden weapons and equipment, is beyond me. So if you've got a reason for this, let me know, but as of right now the Hand is instrumental for the future.

IC: Devastator Commodore Lukesh looked at his radar screens and grinned. The smile eerily looked alike to the main body of his force's boats name sake, no wonder they called him the Wolf.

Glancing at the screens, he knew the TST forces had spotted the main squadron. They'd better. The fools were still caught up in the days of stealth and active sonar. Unleashing a howlish chuckle, he turned towards one of the technicians whom operated the passive radar systems.

"Have we tracked all their ships yet?"

"Yes sir. Damn, you'd think these fools thought we were all back in the dark ages of ping-sonar. Christ, the Russians were trying to get passive radar 2 centuries ago, and even if they failed, other people should've picked up on it. Well, their loss."

The Wolf once again flashed his name sake smile, and prepared to give the orders he always loved to give.

"Ready to give em a shock? Enact sonar blanketing from the main Devastator Generators in T-minus 3 minutes. I want them blind and scared. What I wouldn't do to see their faces when everything goes black. Get all our ships to full H-3 generation, let these fools use caterpillar systems and ping sonar and all that primitive crap. Damn idiots really need to read up on their opponents."

"Sir...their forces are splitting up. It looks like their...their...their trying to go to either side of our temporary beachhead?!"

"SHIT!"

Jumping up the Wolf knew he had to act. If they went through their present course, they'd be hitting a minefield even the T-Wolves that set it would be afraid to traverse.

"Get the message to them now, we can't have a war start yet."

Your calls for a conference our granted, and we suggest the seaport city located at (insert coordinates) for the conference, as it is located between our main body, and the main body of Assington. Furthermore, we'd suggest you pull your fleet to the west, and significantly so. We wouldn't want you running over a minefield before you even had a chance to land now would we?

(OOC: The Devastator is the pride and joy of the Tremalkien Navy. Perhaps the largest submarine capable ship ever created, the Devastator can outgun most surface Dreadnoughts if it is forced up. However, its main uses are its supply and specialized equipment, notably the sonar blanket. Although it requires massive energy, the H-3 generators used on all Tremalkien subs barely compare to the massive powerplants of the Devastator. The blanketing field creates a massive energy field that, once relayed off the rest of the Squadron, completely blanks out all sonar by overloading them. Also, if you don't know it passive radar is the technology that is currently being developed by Russia to counter stealth bombers. Although its extremely hard to explain how it works, basically all you need to know is that it catches anything that moves, stealth technology being a complete nonfactor as the signature its blocks from active radar and sonar doesn't factor into passive radar's detection)
(OOC2: Don't do anything to big yet, I have to put in a second post to get the Hand moving, as well as some other details with the Kaiser)
Sketch
18-05-2004, 07:09
The terran forces of Sketch stirred. A call beckoned them from their deep slumber. For far too long troops had slept in cold sleep, as peace, or at least a sembalence thereof, had reigned supreme over the Sketchian terran holdings. Content with keeping out of the petty wars of NSearth and busy exploiting, or even raping as the environmentalist would put it, the vast resources of their holdings; Sketch Terra had often turned a blind eye to the conflicts surrounding them. Even now, the temptation to ignore this newest war was great. But such decisions were not up to the supervisors of Sketch Terra. No.....such things were decided by the shadowy puppeters on Europa. The ones who benefitted from the spoils of NSearth. Those same hands saw this newest war in a different light - while the ideology involved was not one of any particular interest to Sketch, the players were. Tremalkier was, and is still, reliable trading partner. In fact, outside of alliances based off of NSearth, Tremalkier was the trading partner. As such, anything that could jeprodize such a valuable asset would be most unwelcomed.

With the first stirrings of Tremalkien deployment, the Sketchian Terran force (STF) underwent activation. Now, already sometime into the conflict, the troops were nearly ready to deploy. Keepers dutifully powered up the modest, yet formidable, Sketchian wet water navy. Musky warehouses were exposed to "fresh" air as their great doors were swung open to reveal the deadly ordanance within.

Sketch Terra makes no formal declaration, no announcement, no grandstanding. In fact, other than a quiet promise to the Kaiser of Tremalkier, Sketchian presence will be known when the first STF shell falls upon the enemy.

Each mine was covered in a thin layer of sea plant to help disguise any visual identification whilst the mines themselves were angled to deflect sonar waves far away from their source.

The Memphis sat behind a wall of destroyers and subs as it awaited in a defensive position for any sign of attack. Admiral Dugalle sat within his office aboard, going over the current information on enemy movements. The Admiral looked up as an officer walke in.

The Admiral smiled as he went over a map of an outstetching headland.

"Very good. You see this headland here? There is a natural underwater tunnel down there that leads onto the other side of the headland some distance down the coast. We sometimes use if for navigation training. I want five ML subs sent through that tunnel."

It also has an adaptive optics visible camouflage system for use on the surface.
How can you use radar underwater? I'm pretty sure that doesn't work. To even send radio messages subs need to be surfaced or have an antenna extended to above the surface. The whole point of subs using sonar is because radar doesn't work. As for passive radar I just did a search so I can sort of see how it works, but I still don't see how you can use it underwater.
And your sonar blanket, the only way I can see it working would be if it blanks out yours also. Does it?

(OOC: I'll take your word on it...but I find it highly improbable that such a thing works. Even a white sonar generator would basically work only to counter active sonar, because its effect is still found in the area the submarine is. Passive sonar doesn't require the ping of active sonar. Instead of sending out its own frequency waves, it merely reads the ones already in the area. Using advanced computers which calculate which frequencies are being defracted by something in the area, the passive sonar, and radar, can find any moving thing in the area, without detection. The way it works underwater is largely the same as above water. Frequencies down there are still abundant, and made more so by your fleet. Buoy systems, any kind of communications lining, you name it, makes it possible. All it needs is something to read. Your white-sonar generator would actually make it easier, as it would produce a plethora of frequencies that would be easily traced to their source. I'm using your own electronics against you.
As for the sonar blanket, yes, it does knock out mine as well. Which is why I make sure to know exactly where you are before hand, and not just depend on sonar. There is plenty of other ways to detect ships.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Kaiser allowed himself a measured sigh as he watched the pins in the war room slowly be shifted to show the incoming army. It hadn't been easy to assemble the force, but it would be arriving on Assington within the hour. It was only the news that a peace conference would be held that had stopped them from already landing. Yet it was decided that Field Marshal Morder would be more than capable of attending the conference in the capacity of Tremalkier's delegate, as highly rated as Von Leuten made him out to be.

Piddling his thumbs, he knew the order would have to be given eventually. For three days he had deliberated, and to no avail. The Silver Turtle and Dominix had already put in too much for just the Third Army. It would require more if things went downhill, and it would require immediate action.

As the Kaiser deliberated, a shadow detached itself from the wall and slowly slithered beside him.

"My Lord, it is time for you to give the orders."

Startled, the Kaiser's old mind slowly reacted to the sudden words.

"What? Oh yes, of course Von Leuten, of course. Get the Marshal, tell him to get the Fifth, Seventh, and 11th Armies ready. Full support divisions, full Naval escorts, even get some Falconeers in there. Put them into position in the middle of International Waters. I don't want them close enough to raise eyebrows, but close enough to arrive shortly after any problems occur. Oh, and get the Jaegers ready, if we need to defend ourselves, I want those beasts ready to fight off any attack."

"Yes my lord...what of your Niall?"

"Oh...of course. Bring us up to 5 brigades. I want them positioned as close to Assington as possible without being spotted. But of course thats what they do, act stealthily and all."

"Of course my lord. What would you have me tell them to if things do go downhill?"

"Ah...yes. We will need to respond heavily, and without doubt. Should something go wrong, I want immediate tactical response against all hostiles. Tell the Devastators...we did deploy two didn't we?"

"Yes sir, but if they both act, our great secret will be revealed. Do you really want the world to know we have more than one Devastator?"

"Yes. Let them know, they won't know the true number, so let them think its two if they wish. As I was saying, tell the Devastators to each tail one fleet. I want full T-Wolf Squadrons around Diminix and The Silver Turtle, and ready to fire. Also, make sure the Zodiacs stay close. If something goes wrong, I want us to hit them hard, and hit them early. They'll be confused, and we'll need to get a high hand early."

"Yes sir, but what of Assington itself?"

"Assington itself? Tell all forces in the area to be ready to attack Assington should things go wrong. I want missile strikes to be prepared against all targets therein. Cities, towns, roads, you name it. We need to make them fold as quickly as possible. If things go wrong, I want us to hit, and hit hard."

"Yes sir!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sliding away from the Kaiser, Von Leuten gave a grim rectus of a smile. Everything was going exactly as planned. The Hand was ready to strike. The Kaiser had ordered an-all out assault if there were problems. Not to mention the fact that the Marshal on the ground was his protege, and would make sure that the peace conference went nowhere.

All was sliding into place. Soon Tremalkier would have the war to bring its blood up once more. Once that happened, it would be only a matter of time before Tremalkier would finally be able to resolve matters with its old arch-nemesis.

(OOC: Assington, do you have a map of your nation?)

General Jornin was had had a very good day indeed. Already his blades had met the flesh of the unbeliever, and had released their soul for God's final judgement. Unfortunately the day was at a close, and that meant the march of death must end.

Gathering his men he gave them the message. "Brothers, today our most holy leader sent me our orders. We are to assemble in , and await further instructions. The First and Second born have already arrived, and we must hurry to be on time. God will not allow us to be late."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Field Marshal Morder watched as the arriving forces slowly dwindled as his Karuche Helicopter lifted slowly into the air. [i] Oh the site of an arriving army, is there anything more beautiful? Rank on rank of suited soldier, ready to shatter the unenlightened enemy.

Shaking himself out of his revery he ordered his driver to began the ascent.

In the city of Drun, protesters swept through the streets and flags of Tremalkier were burned. The citizens seemed to generally see Tremalkier as the main instigator of the tense situation, and thousands marched in protest to the oncoming war. The marchers, despite the rampant flag-burning, were peaceful, so law enforcement saw no need to stop them, even when they filled the city square. The light from the flag fires lit up the Callisdrunian darkness.

In his office in the capital city of Callisdrin, King Haakon shook his head and sighed as he watched the protesters on the news. His heart was with them, but he knew the realities of international politics.

"It doesn't matter, you know." He said to the prime minister. "No matter how loud or huge their protests, it won't change what that nation does."

"I know, but we can't tell them that," Prime Minister Eriksen replied. "It's good that they care, our citizens should be aware of the world around them. We wouldn't want them to be too cynical."

"Well, we've already made an official statement on the situation, due to the current war, there's not much else we can do." The king was quite obviously displeased that there was nothing to be done. All they could give was their vocal support.

OOC: Unfortunately, my map seems to have disappeared and I don't have a backup. My headland was not referring to your beach and is for furthering the defense of that area.

As I said before any civilian activity is immediately suspicious in this stage except for military governed evacuations into nearby nations. So your 'Hand of God' will be detected and see as immediately hostile.

IC: Defense minister Enkil sat at the head of a large table surrounded by officers of various military factions. The air buzzed with the sound of several frantic conversations regarding defensive issues.

"Silence. We have much to do and little time to do it in. First of all a strike force has been deployed upon the confirmation of hostile forces within the border, that shall be monitored closely. We are receiving significant financial support from allies so don't worry about budget issues.

Naval forces are converging around the coast, setting up defensive positions and stealth mines. The port outside Emerald City has been heavily fortified via land and sea, as it is a likely target, being a major port. Satellite reports indicate enemy forces near Abyss beach, which may lead to our advantage keeping the geography in mind.

All air bases are on standby and the bases closer to enemy forces are to be filled to capacity. Tank divisions have been deployed around this major cities, (indicates map) whilst we infantry and other vehicle forces have begun mobilization throughout strategic positions.

Finally. I want all missile systems up and running. I want anti-missile systems up and running. No nukes or chemical weapons on orders of President Calis himself. Civilians are being evacuated via air and land into other nations of Atheist Empire where they shall remain until it is safe to return. Now get back to work, we have a nation to defend!"

The 'Hand of God' had been monitored for the last hour by BCS scouts. Disguised as rocks and hidden upon a faraway mountain, viewing them enhanced rifle scopes. Their orders were to simply monitor and report. The scouts were definitely not equipped to deal with such enemies but if necessary they could do some damage.

Information was transmitted back to HQ as the group continued to observe, picking up every detail they could. The strike team was ready and was being deployed within the hour.

OOC: The Scouts are equipped with a device called an HC generator. It's basically a holographic camouflage system that observes natural surroundings and projects a holographic field around the user. Whilst stationary, the user is completely invisible to the naked eye and most optical devices, but movement causes the computer to adjust the image, creating a noticeable blur of colours and usually glimpses of the user.

"You know what to do. Remember peace is our top priority. If we can put off this war, I can negotiate with the religious groups and we can come to a reasonable compromise that leave everyone happy."

The negotiator nodded in return, his dead cold eyes seemed misty as he focused upon his given task.

"You have my word cousin, I shall to all within my ability to settle a peace treaty."

"Good."

Despite what you wish to believe this is a matter of concern for our nation. Assington has been a long time ally and trade partner who has helped our people in times of unrest. Wether it be through a drought or an invasion they have always honoured us with their support and thus we endevour to show them the same support and respect that they have always shown us.

Be warned now that if you pursue this misguided invasion of yours. That the safety of your lands will not last long. Your advisors will be cleansed of the faith that is blinding their eyes from reason and will plunge you into a new age. One in which your flag and all other forms of national identity will be little more than sore reminders of the heights that you will never reach again. All because you chose faith of reason, war over peace, power over understanding.

To the representives of Assington.

We hereby pledge our full support of your actions in the event of an invasion. As of now our troops are mobilising ready for deployment should the need arise. The Pyros have already been ordered to follow the orders of your commanders as if they were they're own. I myself are on my way to the summit accompined by a team of Pyros of the Black Diamond Brigade, should you wish it another team will be sent to gaurd your leaders and run missions behind enemy lines should the need arise.

Yours in the quest for knowledge and understanding,

OOC: Pyros are a form of Special Forces in 666, the Black Diamond Brigade is one of the most respected divisions of 666's Special Forces. They are all battle hardend and are made up of Pyros, Aeons, Sharp Shooters and Animal Division.

Pyros: Made up of those with the gift of Fire. These are people who have an affinity with fire, more than just simple arsonists. They not only love fire, they are joined to it. With the added strength and power of fire Pyros are able to ignite foes in close combat and control the ferocity of flames to varying degrees.

Aeons: Much the same situation with Pyros except in this case the object is the mind. These are people who have the abillity capture or jar the minds of their attackers. Aside from this skill they all are trained in all forms of combat.

Sharp Shooters: The highest possible rank for a sniper is to be a Sharp Shooter. These men unlike other members of the Heritic Specail Forces are not gifted with symbotic releationships or specail abillities, just undeniable skill. Sharp Shooters are trained in a number of weapons from anti-tank, anti-aircraft, hand guns, anti-infranty weaponry, rifles and in free thought. Because of their skills they are often sent on espionage missions.

Animal Division: This division consists mainly of Leprechauns (the national animal of 666) which have acted as gaurdians of our proud land for thousands of years. Whilst dwindling in population (they used to outnumber humans by 10:1) they are adept in the art of killing and in battle tactics. Although not as powerful as in ages past they still retain their abillity to heal without aid of medicines and the like.

666 has a long history of being a refuge for those who were persercuted because their society's viewed them evil because of their magical and mental abillities.

I don't deal with absurd BS)

KIC: The Kaiser slowly pulled the lever, and the Ray of Ignoritude sprang forth, enveloping 666 The Heretic State completely erasing it from the maps and minds of Tremalkier.

IC: General Jornin let out a small chuckle. They thought they could handle the Hand of God did they? They thought their little specialist troops could fight the single most heavily indicted unit in history? A unit known more for butchered cities than butchered towns? Fools.

Letting out a small whistle Jornin signalled over one of the sensor men, and quickly surveyed his readings.

"The Hand is merely a few miles from its resting place, and these fools continue to follow us. You'd think they thought we would go along completely disregarding our surroundings. Fools. Well, lets have a looks shall we?"

Upon finishing his survey, the General smiled once more. "So all they've got is recon around us? Considering our proximity to the drop point, I think its time they experienced The Hand of God's true abilities. Call the First and Second born, and the Third born as well I guess, I want them to stay in the city. We...we shall go get our suits...and they shall know we are the Hand of God when we lay our vengeance upon them."

Turning towards the direction indicated by the various sensors of where the enemy was, the General winked, and slowly calling out the orders, began to run down towards the beach where the suits were held.

(OOC: I'm not going to let the Hand of God get particularly hurt in this. Their job has nothing to do with battle for this RP, they are solely there to be in the city at the right time to do their real mission. As such I will make them escape, either way. Their part is scripted, so I can't really allow them to get into trouble. As for sensors, they'd be heat, CO2 concentrations, movement, electric fields, etc)

As word filters down through STF command, the hectic pace of mobilization was slowed. No longer racing against the clock for fleet deployment, the logistics corps was directed to put safety and thoroughness at the top of the priority list - as opposed to the usual speed and efficiency. The fleet would be ready to set sail within a day.

There was some indecision on whether or not the fleet should deploy immediately to the conflict zone. Undoubtable the Kaiser would be much more reassured if the STF fleet were to be there alongside his ships. But, such overtly agressive moves could prove to be more detrimental to the negotiations than acceptable. On the same note, it would certainly strengthen Tremalkier's offensive position at the talks, and incase of hostilities. A brief message was fired off to the Tremalkier consulate regarding this particular dilemma.

Bunkers are up, Champions are dug in...damn we've got a fortress already.

Glancing through the wreckage surrounding what had been designated C-D-S 41 (Champion Defense Sector 41), he finally located the only evidence that something had moved through the now ravaged brush. Slowly but steadily, a ripple made its way towards the lands of Assington. The ripple had no ship above it, or so it seemed.

"Engineering, you're positive that the Stealth Device is 100 per cent operational?"

"Yes, Admiral. We have it at peak effiency."

Admiral Joseph D'rtang closed the channel and leaned back in his chair. He stared out at the viewscreen of the Valient Royal Navy Stealth Carrier, Vidion, watching as Tremalkian and Sketchian Forces set up a perimeter around the various port of calls of Assington.

D'rtang felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Interesting. I never thought we'd see the day that we'd actually use the mutual defense pact..."

The Admiral nodded towards his president, Alexander Valient.

"Indeed, but I suppose there is a time for everything. Is everything set with Calis?"

"Yes. We are to head for Emerald City port and await further instructions. At this point, all we are her for is to see what we can do to perhaps defuse this situation."

The helmsman slowly piloted the Vidion through the slew of ships. D'rtang swore that if he reached out, he could brush his hand over they're cold steel hearts.

"And if that doesn't work, Alexander..."

Valient shook his head slightly.

"We will deal with that when the time comes... if it comes."

The Carrier slid into the port, just outside of the heavy fortifications, and awaited instruction from Assington's naval command.

But it seemed as if no ship was there...

Saying that your hand is scripted to not get hurt much is like me saying it's scripted for this war to finish in my favour. The fact is I didn't have any intention of this being a war and I already had a reasonable outcome planned. I allowed this because I thought a little tension would make things more interesting.

All nations attending the peace negotiations reguarding this situation should know the negotiations shall commence today at the civilian seaport outside Emerald City. It shall be guarded by neutral forces and all participants are allowed to bring two bodyguards only. No weapons are to be taken into the actual negotiations. The ambassadors of Assington and Diminix are already present and await the arrival of those from The Silver Turtle and Tremalkier.

Upon recieving communications from the Valient craft, the naval command quickly returned a message.

To: Carrier Vidion
From: Naval Port Command

Your presence is welcome in this situation and we are thankful you chose to honour our defense pact. You may dock at port 35A and proceed to the negotiations port via escorted car. President Calis sends his thanks for your presence.

The C-SOTL "Ferryman" nosed it's way 50 Km away from the other forces now gathering on Assington's bordered; it's position smack dab at 200 nautical miles out from the nearest shore.

Just below the sea line, water bay doors open, flooding the compartment and alowing 3 smaller craft away.

-----------

Armored, though not armed, the three smaller watercraft reach Newtonstein waters, filling out all appropreate forms for the transfer of the refuges.

Soon, they reach dock and their crew disembark, readying their passengers to board the ships. Petty Officers call out names, and soon, the group of 37 evacuated persons are lined up and orderly.

All... except for one.

"Caroline Duff? Citizen Caroline Duff?"

There was no answer

----------

Caroline Duff was not in a Newtonstein harbour. She wasn't in Newtonstein at all. In fact, she had never left her appartment in Assington. As a matter of fact, Caroline was still on her bed, face down, with her blanket covering her from the chill.

Had it not been for the massive amount of blood that thad soaked into her bedsheets from several blade wounds on her back, and the shocked expression on her face, she would have looked like she was still sleeping.

Technicly, some might say she WAS still sleeping. Death was the Eternal sleep, after all.

And then her phone started to ring.

(OOC: This is in responce to Tremalkier's:

General Jornin was had had a very good day indeed. Already his blades had met the flesh of the unbeliever, and had released their soul for God's final judgement. Unfortunately the day was at a close, and that meant the march of death must end.

You never did specify who you were killing, besides the fact that they needed to be unbelievers. Caroline Duff was a Liberal, a Athiest, a member of a ACLU like organization and spoke out against those who would use Christianity to enforce their views on others. So, meh, lol, one dead body is as good as another.)

-------------

"Mr. Prime Minister? About the case of the missing citizen inside of Assington? The records we had were not complete. Apparently, earlier this week, Ms Caroline Duff moved to a previously undisclosed location. We now know that she was living with a boyfriend but kept it from her family due to inter-family discord. We were only able to find this out through a detailed check of all avalible records of those that knew her. We were even able to find a number."

"And?"

"No answer sir. We've rung several times already."

Ipkiss took another look at the stack of paperwork on hsi desk, glaring at a newer pile that had grown out of this incident.

"Inform Assington, ask them if they could check on that phonenumber."

"Yes Mr. Prime Minister."

Tremalkier, could you just clarify something for me? Are all your troops (except the special operatives, hand of god, niall etc) in suits?
Sorry Assington, must've missed that.
The Whang arrival bit is about ten minutes after the message was sent to Diminix, he's just been taking in the countryside.
IC:
A small squadron of three Wasps hovered and then set down outside Emerald city (Semi-OOC: They're VTOL, if you're wondering). They were met by two J.E.D.I. mechs, who saluted as best they could as General Whang climbed out and then took up guard positions beside the aircraft. The other two pilots climbed out and joined the General in a brisk walk towards the city. Radioing aead, he informed President Calis and the Assington military of his impending arrival. When (if) asked he wanted a vehicle, he declined. He wanted to walk, he'd been sitting in the bridge of a Hell class carrier for six hours, he needed to stretch his legs. About twenty minutes later he arrived at the conference, feeling refreshed.

IS Razor's Edge
"Admiral McAlistair, there's been some firing on the mainland from the Tremalkien beachhead. Doesn't seem like a full-scale invasion yet, looks more like a one off."
"Don't do anything yet. Has anyone else responded?"
"Orbital visual monitoring suggests Assington has launched some bombers, we can't get a radar confirmation on that though."
"Don't respond to it, yet. We don't want to ruin the chances of peacefully solving it. How's the deployment going?"
"About 20,000 troops from each army are deployed."
"Tell them to pick up the pace. The vehicles?"
"The troops are already deploying about as fast as possible, sir. The transport zeppelins are arriving at the other side of Assington, since it's closer to The Silver Turtle, with their escort. They'll be able to deploy at this end in about seven hours. The heavy tanks from the ships are about half deployed, another seven hundred from each army and that'll be it."
"Excellent. Now, have the Hellfires deployed to the deck. What about the subs?"
"Erm, the sonar's still not working. It's definately not a fault in the machines, it works fine once they move quite far away, but around here it doesn't work. It's certainly something of the Tremalkiens blocking it."
"The satellite link-up?"
"It's working well enough for targetting surface-craft, and keeping them from crashing into one another, but we can't tell what else is down there."
"Hmm. I may have a way to counter that..."

Later
"Listen up Captain. Deactivate your stealth mechanisms."
"Admiral? We'll be sitting ducks!"
"No you won't. I have a hunch that whatever is blocking your sonar will be blocking theirs. Your stealth mechanisms will be useless anyway. However, I believe I could give you some chance of seeing."
"But you know sir, our sonar can't.."
"Yes, your sonar is being blocked. But that's hearing. I said see."
"Sir?"
"Rig up the cameras from the adaptive optics system to your monitors."
"That's going to take some re-wiring, I won't have it done for at least another hour, if it can be done at all."
"Contact me when it's done."

Twice there had been a false alert. Twice troops had been unnecessary mobilized. Twice the military ports in the Brotherhood had been flooded with soldiers and equipment. This time it would not be in vain. Syskeyia and Austar Union had cowardly retreated from war; the military had been idle for too long. Now it would finally show its strength again.

Oxanna Kristos sat in her private jet, overseeing the mobilization in Cairo, Algiers, Monrovia and Dakar on the various screens aboard the jet. It was accompanied by ten Banshee fighter/bombers and some transport planes carrying light combat vehicles, a few squadrons of troops and fifty Black Hand elite soldiers. Oxanna's company was making for Assington's capital. (assuming the country isn't completely surrounded (yet) by enemy aircraft/AA batteries). The fleet of troop transports, combat vessels and aircraft carriers would follow later, yet as soon as possible. The first ships would leave Brotherhood ports within three hours, if all went well.

IC:
"Admiral, it's done."
"And?"
"It works, to a degree. We can see far enough to avoid collisions, but not far enough for taretting. The sea isn't as clear as your average glass of water, it would appear."
"Still, it's something."
"Yes sir. Combined with the satellites we can do almost as much as normal, except hide from and/or use sonar."
"I've sent a request for a map of the seafloor."
"That'd be useful sir. We can't see below us, it's too deep."
"Well, we don't have it yet. There may not be one. However, I'll order the other subs to make the modifications. Then we can start searching for their subs, and whatever else they have down there."
"I'll keep a lookout. We have had about a two hundred metre maximum visual range so far, though frequently it's less than half that."

OOC: Now we are running into some problems. The 'hand' may indeed be a powerful force, but you are inside the borders of a nation with full military alert. You have already been detected and by all rights I could send a small army down and wipe you out.qu

Saying that your hand is scripted to not get hurt much is like me saying it's scripted for this war to finish in my favour. The fact is I didn't have any intention of this being a war and I already had a reasonable outcome planned. I allowed this because I thought a little tension would make things more interesting.
(OOC: The Hand was inserted for one purpose, to fuck around in the Conference, however they couldn't be put into Assington for that reason or else Von Leuten's treachery wouldn't be even slightly possible. That is why they had to be given normal orders, than had them changed. Furthermore, they arrived secretly, they've been moving in civilian clothing, and as they are black ops, they'd be moving at night and through vegetation. They were inserted to serve a purpose, and that is why they can't go down. Also, I don't remember saying anything about attacking you, just having the 4th and 5th born start running towards their suits.
OOC for TST: Everyone is in suits except for units I specifically call Militia-Class. Militia-Class are basically citizens whom are called up in emergencies whom are given only older protections, specialized helmets with communications, but not sensor screens, kevlar jackets, but not anti-area effect components, etc. The Hand of God actually has the largest suits of anyone, when they wear them, and I didn't have them doing that. 5000 men moving in armor the size of a tank is rather easily identified. Niall are also in suits...kind of. They are quite specialized, they designed the things. Their suits tend to be smaller, armed differently, and more efficient.
Final thing. I am now facing, Diminix, Nod, The Silver Turtle, Valiant, and Assington, with only Sketch on my side? Anyone else think this is rather...out of hand? TROUSRS could come in on my side, and sure I have resource support from Nak nak...but still, that would leave Valiant and Assington to provide a major majority for you. I would also suggest Sketch and Nod at least face off somewhere besides the Assington mainland, as that might make things a little too "crowded", and they are the most suited to fight each other)

Lance Colonel Hrungist could barely believe what he was hearing. The results from the lab had come back...and they weren't good. Not only had that damn FLDDC killed something...it had killed at least four somethings. A single scrap of skin...and at least four confirmed DNA strands. That was just unheard of. Whatever it had hit...it had eradicated, but at the same time, left a complete mystery.

Booting out of "safe mode", the Colonel once again began checking the readouts for his sector. Good, independant Dart systems are up, minefields are set, sensors are operational...time to check on the Firefly

Logging in his target coordinates, the Colonel set an alarm, and drifted to sleep for the few minutes of his journey. Sleeping at all opportunity was something that Tremalkier had learned was extremely useful, and thereby was taught to all recruits. Arriving at the only road inlet into his sector, the alarm went off, and a awaking agent was applied. Snapping to his senses, the Colonel quickly looked over the area. It seemed almost undefended, the bunkers forming a bulge towards the camp, and seemingly little other defences emplaced. That is, if you didn't see the fact that the ground was completely fake, and that could only be done through the closest of examinations. Powering down his suit, the Colonel blinked once more, and stepped into the twilight, a complete change from the noontime conditions the suit displayed.

Damn light adjusters, always fucking me over. Lifting a tiny hatch, Hrungist bounced down a few stairs, to be greated by one of the most awesome contraptions he had ever seen. The Firefly was his baby, and this was one of the dozen or so that had been completed. The Firefly was a complete defensive machine. Created to cover an 320 degree area, with only the rear most quadrant uncovered by heavy weapons, the Firefly made a Champion look like a pile of twigs. It shouldn't have been desribed merely as a machine, but more of a battleship for the ground...and a battleship that could barely move. Assembled peace by peace in this fake cavern, the Firefly had over 3 dozen Dart launchers, each a triple rack, four dozen penetrator machine guns, and close to 30 assembled heavy ordinance launchers. This was all of course complemented by a proximity grenade launchers, 4 mortar tubes, and close to a5 foot thick multi-layered hull. This would either be the lynchpin of the defense...or a massive failure. The Firefly had never before been tried...and if it failed, it would take his sector with it.

(P.S. Sorry about the shortness, but I have a few other things to attend to before I get into the conference and get the Hand ready for its...bad deeds)

Its amazing how many people want to have "stealth" tech, but will be damned if they would acknowledge others having it as well.....

ic:

The preparations were complete, the ships fully loaded and ready for action. Crewers were briefed and brought up to date on the latest warefare technologies and strategies via datastreamed hypno-indoctrination. Fully aware that the equipment at hand was slightly older than norm (the wet water navy has been getting less and less attention as of late), the officers have been briefed to take cautious and conservative measures. At long last the main fleet steamed, as the archiac term would be, out to sea to meet their foe.

The extended carier battlegroup deployed itself in international waters a respectable distance away from the Assignton territorial waters. Likewise, careful measures were made to stay away from the other fleets, including the Tremalkieren fleet, although that one was a mere 10 minutes steam away. There would be no commuications from the STF fleet to any of the fleets, the Tremalkiers should already know about the Sketchian presence, and as for the others, well, these are international waters, complain to someone who cares. Diplomatic channels would reply, when querried, that this was a scheduled STF live fire fleet exercise - best not to interfere or approach.

So far, the fleet was only equipped with a tactical offensive capabilities, meaning that there were no troop carriers or any other additional occupational forces. Such glaring ommissions should be easily spotted by any outside observers. That is not to say that there was none, but such personnel and equipment were left far away from the area, safely tucked away for future potential use.

ooc: since I don't see any numbers listed thus far, I won't belabor anyone with a fleet listing. But, should it be desired, just make a small note of it and I'll post a likely satellite recon of it for you

"This is unacceptable. Hostilities between Assington and her would-be foes will be defused or the Imperium may be forced to consider military action against the aggressor states."

--Foreign Minister Jay Reaven

Field Marshal Kasim Dalvand peered intently at the dispatch. Behind him and around him, his suservients hurried about readying the army; for new sights had to be set, and it looked like the focus of Lord melkor's war machine was to be the aggressors of this Assington...situation. The statement was terse, but Dalvand and his men were to see to it that the Foreign Minister did not speak idly. Munitions had been readied for the mobilization against Syskeyia, but it was the general consensus was that this was decidedly more.. how to say it.. pressing.

Each man knew where he was supposed to be and what he was supposed to be carrying: at this point, going through the motions to mobilize almost seemed like a simple formality, as there was seldom a time when the followers of Morgoth were not ready for war.

Gravships were manned in the fields of Harad and Dunland. Troops marshalled and prepared in Angband, and Utumno. Time would only tell who would live and who would die.

But Melkor had a pretty good idea.

Alexander looked out the window as the cars drew away from the docks. In the distance, ships flying various colors could be seen.

The ambassadors were waiting calmly when General Whang arrived at the designated location. The 1st ambassador moved forward and greeted the General, extending his hand.

"Greetings General Whang. Welcome to the location of the hopefully successful peace negotiations."

The seaport consisted of several large domes scattered along the coast and a few further inland. One of the larger domes was obviously the administration building where the conference would be held.

The area was buzzing with life as military personel worked vigourously to set up blockades of defences ranging from 5 quad minigun platforms, 10 anti-air batteries, 5 computer guided missile batteries and one Infernal. The infernal was simply a missile battery that fired two rockets. One was released towards the enemy and appropriately released canister upon canister of hydrogen gas. The next missile is fired in the exact same path, but it releases flames, ignigiting the gas. Both missiles are quite close together so and timed precisely so the gas can be ignited before it disperses too far.

1st amassador noticed the General observing the Infernal.

"Let us hope that does not need to be used."

__________

Bomb commander read over his updated information. His orders were to fly over a marked beachhead and take initial survellience to be sure of hostiles. If hostiles confirmed, they had orders to release warning bombs just beyond perimeter of forces.

Strike Team Beta now moved into the grassy planes where satellite images had shown presumed hostile forces present mere days ago. The force proceeded with extreme caution as they examined all possible positions for enemy cover.

The 5 apocalypse tanks hovered barely a metre above the ground, their travel silent as their radar scanned the area. Followed closely by armoured transport vehicles carrying the 100 BCS troops whilst the 15 exterminator choppers flew overhead.

There had bee reports that these hostiles were packing more than standard weapons, but intelligence was hazy on the matter.

OOC: Ok. I have two main coastal cities. Diamond City and Emerald City. The conference is obviously at Emerald, which is also heavily fortified by defenses and naval gear.

Tremalkier, your beach head is between the cities, but still a couple hundred k's away from each. There are smaller naval bases closer to your location, but still a reasonable distance away. At the moment I do not have any naval forces within your sonar blocking range, but some do move outside it.

I am grateful that your great nation has chosen to honour our defense agreement despite your objections to my actions. A peace conference is already being organised and held at a port outside Emerald City. You are welcome to send a representative to help maintain peace.

So let me make this clear: No More Metus. Period

Commodore Lukesh had dark feelings about his current situation. Having not gained any new orders for nearly a day, the Wolf was losing patience. Any time now the damned Silver Turtle would figure something out, and the ships would be found. Only one thing could be done. Time to stalk

Quickly tapping a communications specialist he relayed the orders. Dead Talk. T-Wolves 1-25, enable stalk programs. Directly beneath, double seal. All others, minus A-Unit, double bond to opportunities. Avoid submarine contacts

Grinning the Wolf looked through the massive hulls of the Devastator at the fleet above. Can't see what isn't there, can't see where you are

Turning back to the comm group, he made the long awaited circle in the air. The Devastator was going to make a bit of a splash...literally.

Meanwhile in Assington

General Jornin blinked at his screen as new orders streamed in. What can the Hand do dug in under the edge of the harbor at this...Emerald City? Underwater dig ins are hard enough...but this is just too much.

Luckily the massive blank face of his suit hid all that disbelief from his men. With a single gravelly pronouncement he gave the orders. "All units suit up, we are going in and under."

In the Tremalkien Camp

Major Ulyssian had always hated desk duties, but for once it was actually amusing. Checking satellite records, train movements, heat displacements, you name it, the Tremalkien intelligence had put together a pretty comprehensive list of units deployed and moved, and of course, HE got to do the fun part...read everything that was wrong with what they are doing.

Tanks, and more tanks, area-effect rockets and anti-air rockets. Didn't these fools know anything?

However, with a start the Major heard a most troubling sound. The warning blasts from the suits.

Elsewhere in the Camp

Radar Technician Gorbel didn't like what he saw. Long range scans already picking up air forces moving towards the camp. Sure most of the forces were pretty well hidden, and the real defensives were, as always, camoflauged, but one could never be too careful.

Commanding the proper uplink to be patched to the base commander, he impatiently awaited clearance. It was only the angry growl on the other end that assured him he had been granted it.

"Sir, we've got a problem. Somebodies sending recon."

"Destroy it. We've got enough Darts and long range missiles to choke a donkey."

"Er...yes sir, but the peace conference? Wouldn't this be viewed badly?"

"Fine. Give them a warning, if they keep coming, we destroy them. They come within distance of even the longest distance surveillance, I want them destroyed. And while your at tell someone to make sure the satellite jammers are at full capacity, we don't need people poking their noses into our business."

"Yes sir...but...I'm only a technician."

"Fuck it, your a god be damned Major for the next 2 hours now get cracking!"

Valient and D'rtang immediately singled out General Whang and headed for him, followed closely by the DEO escorts.

The two men watched as the defense emplacements were set up.

"Well, at least we won't have to worry about attacks while in here," Valient mused, pointing at the miniguns.

D'rtang only nodded, speaking next to the General.

"General, I am Joseph D'rtang, Admiral of the VRN. This is Alexander Valient, President of Valient."

In turn, Valient and D'rtang shook Whang's hand.

"So," queried Valient "Where do we go from here?"

Oxanna Kristos stepped out of the jet and looked over Insert Assington's capital city here's main military airport. The forces she brought with here were being unloaded and transported to the site some twenty kilometres outside the city where they would establish their base.

Now a lieutenant walked up to her. "The fleet is nearing Assington territorial waters, mylady. Admiral Vasquez asks what his orders are when he reaches them."

"Tell him to move his fleet to the shallow coastwaters. He must keep the transport ships ready to disembark the forces on them. The other ships can form a cordon around them to protect them. Keep the aircraft on highest alert and send out scouting planes. Are the satellites in place yet?"

"Yes mylady. All three spysats are being moved over Assington, as you requested."

"Good. Begin a full scan of all possible combat areas. And keep an eye on the enemy fleet for any movement or possible assault. The troops here in the base should prepare for battle, and give the Black Hand orders to split up in ten groups of five and let them scout the coastline."

Hey everyone, I got in a bit of trouble and wasn't able to get to the computer for a bit. But now I'm back and ready to continue the rp. I just need a little summary of what's going on. Sorry for dissapearing lol]

Peace conference is being held here: http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3197569#3197569

There has been a bit of movement around, but nothing major has really happened.
____________

The young officer sent to retrieve a foreign citizen approached an old rundown apartment block. By the looks of it, the building had sustained some recent damage. Withdrawing a hand held digital camera, the officer began gathering evidence to compile a report when he got back to Amethyst.

Camera and glock in hand, the officer wearily creaped through the building until he arrived at the intended door. He peaked into the room through the slightly ajar door and was immeadiately assaulted with the stench of death.
___________

Admiral Dugalle now awaited the return of several ML class subs upon the bridge of his vessel. He had made sure that there was no way into the bay of Emerald City except through the dense minefield covering the mouth.

Suddenly a blinking light flared to life, catching the Admiral's attention.

"Good, have the men report to the bridge, now."

10 Minutes Later

Five men stood before the admiral, still dressed in their sub gear.

"Gentlemen. I trust that you did as I ordered?"

"Yes sir. Several remote/proximity mines have been littered throughout the cave in key structural locations. We also remapped the caves as you said. May I ask what this if for sir?"

"Good. I'm afraid that is confidential for the moment. You will be told in due time, good work men. You may have the next 2 hours free to do as you will."

"Yes sir."
____________

A satellite technician quickly grabbed the attention of the officer on duty as the latest readings of the satellites came up.

"Sir, I'm not getting a propper reading. It's possible they're attempting to jam us."

"I see. We still have coordiantes of their camp, they can't move that in a short time. I'll mention this of Minsiter Enkil."

Enkil's Office

"Sir, we think we might be getting jammed."

"Hmm. I don't like the idea of not being able to see what's going on whilst we have aircraft near there. Recall the bombers, it's time we sent a proper reconissance craft to do the job. I want it fixed to release the swarm as well."

"Yes sir."

OOC: Sorry Tremalkier, but that's what Metus does. I don't see why you have to bring in allies you don't want to, unless you really don't want to lose. If you're that desperate then I suggest you don't start a fight in the first place.
IC:
"Admiral, can the J.E.D.I. handle undersea operations?"
"They're designed to be all-round units. They can operate in a vacuum, they can fly for relatively short periods of time, and they can operate in pressures up to twenty atmospheres. So yes, they can work underwater, though the plasma swords don't and they need minor modifications to the micro-jets so they work. But I think the mech hangars on board carry the necessary parts. Why do you ask, crewman?"
"It just seemed to me that if the subs aren't working, we could try something a little more unorthodox..."
"What?"
"Well, the mechs don't use sonar, the pilots see in most bands of the EM spectrum, but whatever it is doesn't seem to be affecting that. So I thought we could use them to hunt the source of the disruption...But it's just a silly idea, sir, nothing really..."
"No crewman, you are a genius! Not only can we use it to find the enemy subs, we can set up a trap...How many Hells do we have?"
"Erm, two fleets sir, so that's six."
"So that's 120 J.E.D.I., yes?"
"Yes."
"That should be enough. Tell the crews to make the modifications to every J.E.D.I. on these carriers."
"Right away sir."

(OOC: No, its not. You see, I went and telegrammed nations saying "Don't Get Involved, we want to keept his limited so its a good RP. This has nothing to do with alliances or any of that. If we wanted to make this a crappy RP like all the giant World Wars, I wouldn't have gotten involved. The fact is when you have more than 6 or 7 nations involved, the RP goes to hell, which is why you might have noticed that very few good wars occur anymore besides (invite only), because most people are just plain awful at RPing, and do exactly what you do, bring in too many nations. Plainly speaking, anyone who can only fight with allies is a lousy RPer and isn't worth anyones time of day. If your so shaky on your own terms that you can't fight without other people helping you...)

Inside the Tremalkien Base

Major Ulyssian was beginning to think these enemies were almost too foolish. Armor, more armor, and more armor, it just kept showing up. Even these "mechs" were nothing besides armor in a different form. Humming a Tremalkien bar tune, he began relaying the incoming information to the various unit commanders, and quitely set forward another order for increased surveillance of incoming Brotherhood forces.

Meanwhile...

Commodore Lukesh nodded to the helm, and quickly braced himself in his chair. The Devastator had only gone to the surface once in this kind of action, and that had been in an emergency. Hopefully the small ship above the Devatator would only be an enemy destroyer or some such, but destroying a ship solely through surfacing...that would send a messge. Signalling the comm unit he began the BS broadcast. "To all shipping and other naval units in the area, this is the T-Armada Devastator. We have lost all sonar capacities on our routine patrol mission. All units are advised to withdraw to a safe distance as we continue our patrol. This is the only warning."

Glancing at his inter-unit comm officer, he got the news he had been hoping for. Packages away, full unit ready for departure

They'd never see it coming.

Elsewhere in Assington...

Captain Gregorin was sick and tired of patrolling. The 11th Company was bored, and he could tell. Boredom was a bad thing when each individual commanded enough firepower to take down a small town. Realizing they needed something to do, he quickly scanned the area for any major hot points, making sure no enemies were nearby.

"Men, time for a live fire exercise. I don't want to see any vegetation in my line of sight in oh...two minutes. Go."

MNN News update : President Wyte has delared today that troops will enter Assington to prevent a violent occurence. This is what he said.

"Tremalikier this is utterly stupid of such nation of your caliber. You are outnumbered, outgunned, just allow President Calis to preform his duties as a nation's leader and stop this maddness. All ready I have sent troops to defend Assington's borders, but they have been told not to fire unless fired upon. Please stop this moronic venture and go home."

Over Assington

Royal Guard Fourth Class Marcus Mazh sat, relaxing in the padded seat inside the Mikatopian Pelacan troop transport plane. He began to study the man sitting across from him.

The man was young, maybe about thirty, Hispanic, short black hair, sunglasses. The man wore a golden Crucifix around his neck, it shone in the bad lighting. He was well built, and from the way he held himself, he looked like a leader.

Mazh was to make sure this man could make the jump, the government hadn't said why, but it didnt matter. The government told you what it needed you to know, nothing else.

Mazh began to explain the parachuting procedure to the Hispanic man, who nodded absently at everything he said. Mazh frowned, this man was different, he wasn't a guard, what was he?

Suddenly the plane began to shake. The man got up and pressed his hand to Marcus's forehead adn began to speak in Spanish. Mazh was surprised, he had no idea what this was, but then he heard a few words and relazied it was a prayer. Of course he could have been wrong, Spanish wasn't a common language at all in Mikatopia, where the main languages were German and English.

The man finished his prayer and made the sign of the cross. Marcus was clueless but he copied the gesture. The man smiled, and said "May God be with you, my son."

Marcus was Catholic, but he had no idea what any of this meant. The guy was evidently a priest, but why was a priest parachuting out of a plane into a possible hostile environment?

The back of the plane opened, the priest gathered up a bag of God-knew-what and jumped out into the dark night. Marcus leaned over to see the was jumping into the ocean, they were about 100 miles from the nearest port city.

Wierd.

The plane closed and Marcus got up and went to the cockpit. Another violent shake of the plane almost made him trip, but he regained balance and continued walking.

He entered the cockpit to see the pilots each sitting with bottles of beer.

"What the hell is this?"

"Hey man chill out, it wont matter in like five minutes anyways."

Marus saw the fuel meter. They were empty.

"O MY GOD, LETS GET OFF THIS PLANE!"

"Can't, governments orders."

Marcus screamed as the plane began its descent into the dark ocean....

Father Lopez sat in his inflatable raft, about 100 miles from the Assington shore. He was cleaning out his pistol and his sniper rifle, his tools of God. He would deliver the souls of Assington from the evil grip of the Atheist Calis. Maybe he would save his soul before he killed the corrupt leader.

He heard a noise and turned around as the plane that dropped him off slammed into the ocean. The waves spread out in all directions, propelling his little raft closer to the shore.

Lopez took his guns and loaded them into a bag. Then he began to put on the diving equipment the government had issued him. When he finished he strapped on the mask and oxygen tank and popped his raft.

He had to get moving, the war could start anyday now....

"Aye, sir." He turned, "Alright, lets move!" He gave the signal for the first 3 Su-47s that would be escorting 9 massive An-124 transport planes to somewhere near the Assington capital.

The jets lifted into the air, and immediately split up and spead up to secure the area. 30 seconds later, 2 more were up.

Next was the transports themselves. Commanders Kessler and Garcia hopped aboard the last An-124 just before it took off. Following them were 5 more Su-47s, 6 Ka-52 apache helicopters, 2 Commanche helicopters, and 2 appache helicopters.

Garcia was a bit shocked when he saw what the men were carrying. They had everything. Litterally, everthing. He could see them holding their Mini Guns, Sub Machine guns, Sniper rifles, 12 gauge shotguns, M16A4s, Ak-47s, Rocket Propelled Grenade launchers, flamethrowers, radios and assorted grenades and pistols.

The men fit neatly on 2 planes, with a small number of them on another with the Artillery. That was another thing they had brougth with them. Tanks and Artillery. More specifically, 10 MSTA-S 2S19 152mm Self Propelled Howitzers, 5 T 80U Main Battle Tanks, and 5 Merkava 4 Main Battle tanks.

"So, we're 'investigaters" this time, are we?" Agent Protecter Jane Tsi of the N.E Regiment of C.G.

"Aparently so Team Lead." A.P Tom Lienk replied from beside her; though both of his eyes were towards the approching shoreline.

"Great... just great. Anyone remember anything from the Criminal Investigation course they refreshed us on?"

There was only silence from the 5 other members on the boat.

"Great... just great." Jane muttered again.

To: Prime Minister Stanley Ipkiss
From: President Calis

This news troubles me deeply as well. The murder of anyone within my borders is a troubling sign, even in these times. I have encountered reports of hostile forces within my borders, which the current investigators assume to be responsible. Unfortunately, we have no concrete evidence so far.

Your team is welcome and my investigators shall give them full cooperation in the matter.

President Calis stands behind a podium, several religious leaders sit just behind him.

"People of the world. After sitting through negotiations with religious representatives from all over Assington and reflecting upon my recent decisions, I have come to the conclusion my actions were unjust and uncalled for. I have let my feelings guide me instead of my mind. These gentlemen and myself have come to a solution for this situation. The ban on religion will be lifted entirely. Each city in Assington shall have their temples reinstated and compensated for damage."

The President nods towards the men and they smile in return.

"Intelligence reports that those responsible for attacks and conspiracy of attacks belonged to fanatacist cults and were in no way connected to the majority of their repsected faiths. I therefore place a ban upon such cults. The government will work with the churches in determining what is deemed as a dangerous cult and prevent such. Every temple will be under the charge of an official religious representative trained and appointed by respected churches. Finally, any that fled Assington in wake of my previous decision are of course, welcome to return."

The President took a seat behind the podium as the Bishop of Topaz took his place to speak.

"People of all religious affiliations. Upon negotiating such issues with the President, I can assure you he speaks the truth. He is indeed a good man, but good men can make mistakes as well. Our faith is restored in him and we shall work together in a society where all are accepted. We all agree that those orientated with violent acts in the name of religion are indeed not a true representation of the faith and shall be shunned by all."

Samuel Whyte looked with disbelief at the televison. He had to call Lopez back. But it was already too late. The man was too fanatical, he wouldn't go back by choice...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lopez grinned as he finally made it to shore. It had been a 100 mile swim from his dropoff point. He was exhausted. Standing up he saw a man in black walking toward him. He began to fumble for his gun when he felt a sharp pain in his head, and then...peace...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thomas Resh straightened his trenchcoat as he put away his silenced Wolfram PP7. Lopez was taken care of, now the healing could begin, but first he had to get rid of the evidence.

Dragging the water-proof bag Lopez had carried with him he opened it and pulled out four gernades. Then he stuffed one in Lopez's mouth, and the rest in various areas of his clothing. He ran away as he made sure each pin was pulled.

BOOM! Father Miguel Lopez was no more...

The Tremalkien Beachhead rolled with action. Shimmering from above like a giant metallic beetle, the Tremalkien encampment slowly packed up, the massive entrenchments slowly being revealed from withdrawn camoflauge appearing as harsh gouges into the face of the Assington coast. Not all had left, but many had already boarded their ships and set off, only to a rendez-vous point, but still, a sign of withdrawal.

Still, there was a problem.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brigadier General Ohempushet wasn't a happy man. The High Order hadn't wished for this eventuality to take place, but it had. The Great Reckoning had begun.

Waving his hand, the General watched as brigade after brigade of Hammers slowly marched deeper into Assington, ready to spread havoc for the word of the Order.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Kaiser was a happy man. Tremalkien influence had been restored, prestige regained, and goals reached. Soon the army would disembark completely, ready to face whatever new foes reared their head. Watching as the green pins were slowly withdrawn from the war board, he finally let out a sigh of the pent of anxiety that had wracked him.

Unnoticed, a shadow appeared by his side. "My Lord, we appear to have... a problem."

Glancing up at Von Leuten, the Kaiser could only offer a slightly confused look.

"It appears that...the reports of...fractioning are true. We still retain the majority, about 85%, maybe more, are still loyal. But...the rest...the young units, the foreign elements, the Panteran break offs... they've...gone and done something."

With a sinking feeling, the Kaiser could only nod.

"They've...gained control of other elements of our armed forces. We don't know where the majority of them are rallying, but they've taken massive armanents and other forces. T-Wolves, Surface ships, Falconeers, Regular Army Units, hell, it sounds like the goddamned Hand may even be joining them."

Battling to escape his now mushy lips, the Kaiser offered, "What of the native elements?"

"We retain them. The true Tremalkiens...they are loyal. But every man from Galahad, Pantera, you name it, their all gone. The foreign legion is gone my lord. The fanatics have joined them. We don't know how long this has been planned, but Bunker-17D is reporting that as many as 3.5 million people have been reported missing...and the defense armory ransacked."

"3.5 million? How...could they manage to gather that many into one bunker?"

"It appears my lord...that the rot is deep. That appears to be the main body, if not all, of the deserters, but they are going en masse. Our lack of action against Pantera and other ancient foes has finally set them off my lord. This isn't a civil war...but its repercussions could be as bad."

With a sharp realization, the Kaiser could only gasp.

"My Lord...the Hand...its attacking the Conference. Apparently they set themselves up in the Harbor, suited. Just walked underwater down the coast, impossible to notice really. Set up a couple of the underwater mortars, various other weaponry, and openned fire."

"But thats all...correct?"

Turning away, Von Leuten issued the death knell of the Kaiser's hopes.
"No my lord. Ohempushet has joined them...and he's got nearly four full divisions of Hammers ready to destroy all they can...and we have got nothing to stop them. God help us all."

Slowly looking at the floor, the Kaiser could only wonder. Why did we send so much of the Foreign Legion to Assington?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From: Tremalkien Foreign Ministry
To: Assington High Command

Our forces are withdrawing, as our demands have been met. Unfortunately, this appears to have set off...another situation. Certain elements of our military have been hopping for a war...and with this situation defused, they have deserted. We have reason to believe as many as one hundred and sixty thousand Hammers have deserted, in Assington, and have hostile intent. We have no control over them whatsoever. These rogue elements have completely left our control. They are fully armed, and ready to destroy. God help us all.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Briskly walking down the dark hallways of the War Chambers, Von Leuten appeared just another shadow creeping down the dim lit walls. Suddenly stopping, he turned down into a seemingly solid wall, only to enter a hidden chamber.

The breathing chamber evoked a feeling of the Occult, and such was the intent. The High Order had planned many a long year for this day. Finally the Day of Reckoning was upon the world. The High Order would bring Tremalkier's enemies to its knees, when the Tremalkien government refused.

Long years of war had brought thousands of refugees into Tremalkier. Thousand of acquisitions brought tens of thousands of foreign soldiers into its armies. These men needed something to believe in, and the Order gave them that. Ready as always, the Order has bid its time, and built its following. Trained in the depths of the restricted zones, it had raised its army, slowly, carefully.

It had planted high officials and lowly men, armory guards, entrance technicians, port transit officials. All had fallen to the Order. Long awaited was this day when all would fall into place. Assington would be the first to experience the Order's hand. Ohempushet was a pawn, nothing more, his forces the weakest element the Hand had in its deck.

Glancing around at the hooded figures crowding the room, Von Leuten's voice deepened, and rather than the harsh tones evoked in the Kaiser's chambers, a rich and royal voice ushered forth. "Friends, allies, brothers unto God. The Day of Reckoning is upon us. Soon, all our enemies shall tremble once more. Reavers, Hammers, Omzian, be they whom they may, they shall tremble to the Order. We have bidden our time, and now it is come. We shall retake our hallowed thrones from those who have usurped them from us, we shall smear the blood of their children on the High Walls, and toss their women to the dogs. The rivers will run red with blood, and always, the Order will be there to see it done. Today a few small "rogue" elements, left the Tremalkien army, so they say. I say that today the TRUE Tremalkien army, the true army of the Lord himself was resurrected!"

"The Order shall have its vengeance upon all its enemies, all of them."

(OOC: The Order is a long running storyline. Thought to be just a tiny element of forces, the Order is a massive organization, sprawling throughout Tremalkier, and other nations as well. Biding its time, it has waited to finally send forth its men, and now it has begun. So begins the new series of Tremalkien action, The Descent to Darkness , and The Path of the Saviour . This post saw the introduction of many of the leading elements, Ohempushet, whom must survive, no matter what else happens to the Order in Assington. Von Leuten, the leader of the Order, and a half-Panteran descended from a deposed Lord Reaver (I've failed to locate the name, I will eventually find it). The Kaiser, Petrovich IV, the Field Marshal Irving Morder, the Hands Jornin, and coming soon, the Heir, and Saviour to be, Ilyanovich, the Iron Man.)

The STF carrier battle group continued doing flight ops without regard for the apparent deaparture of the Tremalkieran forces. Whatever their initial purpose, this was a good spot as any to practice. Back at port, troop carriers and escorts returned to their docks and the gradual stand down process began. Word had filtered down from the top that no matter what happened in the current situation, it was no longer necessary to maintain an active force. With good natured grumbles about being forced to back to dreamsleep again; they were getting a generous activation bonus along with an equally generous interest accruing stipend, the STF reservists once again entered peaceful slumber.

Co-operation had been immediate. The investigation team had arrived on shore and were met by a team from Assington. From there, they were quickly shown to the murder site.

---------

Bodies freshly fallen on the battlefield are so very different from aged corpses laying in their own blood. That and the mosquitos... and the smell.

"God damn..." Tsi rasped as the smell of the bloated corpse first hit her. Nothing in the room had been disturbed as per their request, except for the red tape blocking the entrance at the door.

Caroline Duff still lay in the position where she had died, her face still locked in agony, though her flesh had started to puff out.

The corpse farted.

"GOD DAMN. Tom... this is your specialty, why don't you go into the room with our little friend there and see what you can find."

"Gee, thanks there Tsi, I really appreshate that."

Tom Lienk ducked under the red tape, looked around the room and took a deep breath.

Then he started to screem.

'Already his blades had met the flesh of the unbeliever, and had released their soul for God's final judgement.'

And the other target...

---------------

That they were no longer in the room with the farting corpse was the first thing he realised. Instead, he was laying in the hall, his throat rasping as he drew breath.

"Damn it Tom, I've seen you do it before, but it still Freaks the HELL outta me." Jane told him as she saw his eyes finally lose their unfocused look that usually befell them when Tom lapst into one of what he called his "Examinations".

The other four members of the team were lounging around, or at least, trying to look relaxed. Unlike both Tom and Jane, they were not Enableds, and to see one in action, especially one with that kind of talent, sent icepicks down their back.

"Scares you? I'm the one that just spent... wait, how many hours was I out?"

"About an hour, give or take a few."

"Right, I was the one that just spent an hour screeming like a girl."

"Half an hour actually. The other half you spent wimpering and gurgling in your own sliva."

Tom's hand went to his cheak and low-and-behold, there was a dampness that covered his check, some of his hair and the carpet below him.

"F*ck."

"Yeah... so.. what did you learn?"

----------

"F*ck."

"Yeah."

They had changed explamations this time as Tom finished relating what he had learned.

"So.. this... group, God's blade?"

"Or God's hand, I'm not completely sure."

"Ok, this God's hand or whatever, they're a group of bastards that go around kill what they see as unbelievers and think that they are carrying out the will of god. This is why they killed Caroline Duff."

"Yes, I believe so."

"Aight... and they also seem to have another mission here."

"Yeah.. something about... disrupting the unbeliever's pull on the believers."

Jane snorted, "I wonder if you could vague that up alittle for me."

"Hey, that's what I got," Tom replied, shrugging his shoulders.

They all sat there thinking a bit before Jane spoke up again. "Hey, we might as well report this in. I'll take (insert name of their Assington contact) you can call our superiours."

Tom nodded as Jane picked up her cell phone and dialed a number.

After 3 rings, the call was answered, "Hello, this is Jane Tsi of the Investigation team from Canada-Germany."

I want the hell bombed out of those forces before they can do anything. Also, send warnings to those at the conference that there are still hostile forces within the nation to be wary."

Upon warning from the Defense Minister, forces at the conference doubled their vigilence and tightened all security. Land and air was obviously secure, anything approaching would be noticed. Sea was a different matter. There were several forces within the bay, mostly submarines. Being much harder to defend, several more subs were deployed in an attempt to cover the entire area.

The troops involved appear to be Hammers almost completely, although a few Champions do appear to be involved. These are anti-air, anti-tank specialists. If you try and fling air power at them, be prepared, their anti-air Darts will take down the majority before they can do much of anything. These men are further armored against area-effect weaponry, so any type of "pound" attack will do little to no good. If they encounter tanks, well, consider it this way. The tanks will have to hit a moving target dead on to eliminate them with a shell. They are still vulnerable to machine gun fire, but if they get close enough to fire Darts, then they are homefree. We can only suggest you try to set up a coordinated ambush of some type. Terrain camoflauging won't help you though, their sensors are too sophisticated. Our only advice would be to try and stop them through pure weight of arms, and pray to God they don't split up or dig in.

X10 - X13 squadrons raced through the clouds, drawing ever closer to their target. The toal of fourty aircraft were all armed with devestator computer guided bombs, all locked onto enemy targets via satellite targeting.

Moving just below supersonic speeds, the bombers released their 5 bombs each upon the Hammers. Within seconds the enemy forces would feel the wrath of 200 devestator bombs.

"It seems like Assingto can handle the conference well enough, divert all forces except the fifty Black Hand to the other Tremalkians, those Hammer troops" Oxanna Kristos ordered, putting down the latest communique from Assington.

"Yes mylady. They will reach the Hammers within a few hours. The Black Hand is now near the conference site; what are their orders?" her lieutenant answered.

"Tell them to set up guard posts as hidden as possible and to guard the delegates with their lives if necessary. The Banshees and the subs can stay at the site, Assington has enough airpower at the Hammers already. Tell the fleet to move to the Hammers and then fire at will. Have the ground forces landed by now?"

"Yes mylady. They are closing in on the enemies as we speak."

"Good. Let the ships fire cruise missiles until they are close enough for ordinary shells. Even if their fancy suits protect them, it probably isnt pleasant to walk around with cruise missiles slamming into the ground."

OOC: By area-effect weaponry I assume you mean things like large scale missiles? Tell me, how can a mobile suit be armoured heavily enough to withstand the blast of an ICBM?

(OOC: Quite easily. Basically most ICBMs kill one of two ways. The heat wave fries men, or in the case of armor, the heat+electro wave fry them, depending on the shielding of the electronics. Now, when your thinking about using ICBMs, your talking about using nuclear weaponry. Basically, nuclear weaponry will destory anything in a certain area, nothing to be done about it (though why you'd nuke yourself I don't know). However, the main damage comes from the pure area effected by the shock+heat wave afterwards. Its quite easy to guard against that. Already we have nuclear resistant electronics, so that the wave doesn't fry them, and they continue to function. At the same time we have heat/shock resistant armoring to counter the shock wave. So when the nuke hits, all the armor has to do is go to the ground, the shock wave will very likely pick them up and fling them, depending on the proximity/strength of the nuke, but then its just concussion resistance. Using the armor to guard against the heat wave, all you have to do is utilize cooling sequences while layering the armor with heat resistant dampeners and sinks, and use that same armor to minimize damage from being flung around like a baseball. ICBMs eradicate unarmored things, however, even tanks nowadays can survive, if not the crew. If you change the way the armor works, to counter the heat wave, then you can even stop the crew from dying. Its not heavy armor, its smart armor. Area effect is something that can only work if your not guarded against it. Its easier to stop heat from killing you than a bullet. Thats why the suits can be killed by a man with a pistol, but not by a halo of rockets. You can kill a few with rockets, but its a waste. So to sum it up, guarding against the effects of ICBMs are easy, the real challenge is guarding against convential weaponry)

Under the Sea,
The two Domination class usbmarines came within weapons range of the underwater suits. There was no indication they'd been spotted, but then, how could they be?
With almost insulting ease, the submarines locked onto the rogue suits and opened fire, four torpedoes being launched at each suit. The submarines then reversed slightly, to mask their exact position. Sonar showed only a cloud of dust, they couldn't be sure of the result, but they could see the modified J.E.D.I. mechas swimming past and preparing for a suit-to-suit fight if they'd survived.
About a third of the Domination submarines int he open sea began sweeping for rogue submarines, opening fire on any unidentified (OOC: I'm assuming I can identify Metus submarines, and since Nod's using Supremacys my forces know what they look like anyway) submarines they found.

On the Land,
The medium tanks and the J.E.D.I. mechs headed towards the unchallenged Hammers, the tanks letting off their armour-piercing shells while the J.E.D.I. headed straight into close-combat with them.
As they appproached, their left arms extended and straightened, revealing a 70mm gauss cannon, which they fired as they approached. As they came closer though, they activated their plasma swords and physically cut the Hammers to pieces, melting the suits and their occupants.

OOC: I'll be gone until Friday. School trip.

(OOC: Two questions: One. How did your subs get close enough to my troops to identify them, considering they are tiny little guys nestled into the harbor, to not get seen by their sensors, and firing 4 torpedos apiece at nearly 500 men? Explain that? Two. How did your main force jump from the ocean, to hitting my men? I'll allow the subs, but the land attack is just BS, considering sensors would've picked it up miles away. Also, Nod, I think you were referring to the Hand being attacked by your ships, as cruise missiles could probably hit the Hammers, but I doubt you've got any ships that are gonna be firing shells all the miles from the sea to their inland position)

Major Upshall looked down at the specialized mortar tube he was serving. The damn things were sure ugly contraptions. Built for underwater use, the "accessories" lay piled around in a heap at his feet. Continuing to drop and fire, he only dimly paid attention to his sensors. It was only at the last moment that the alarms finally blared firmly into existance. Turning his gaze slowly towards the sea, there was only time to glimpse a slight boil in the water, before every trace of the Major and his mortar were destroyed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lieutenant-Colonel Weiss hadn't had much time. The torpedos had come seemingly out of nowhere. Sending out an urgent bulletin to the rest of the troops, he issued the emergency pull out orders. Packing the mortars, the now reduced troop, the entire front troop had been eradicated, killing nearly 200 men under a storm of torpedo fire, the Hands single worst defeat in nearly a decade, began its escape. If they didn't fire, they would be virtually untraceable. Too small for sonar, too small for satellites, too small for anything in fact. All they would have to do is march until their air-generators hit a critical low, and they were forced to surface. By then they would hopefully be out of range. Using a final transmitted order, a pair of specialized T2s began to move in for the pick up.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The man formerly known as Jornin had decided that with the righteous struggles that had finally given birth to the order, a rebirth of that man was now necessary. Taking with him the 4th and 5th units of the Hand, the former General began to slowly take his troops away from Assington. The 3rd, being split between the underwater attack, and a reserve force, would now withdraw, and rendez-vous with the 4th and 5th as they left Assington. The 1st and 2nd wouldn't be so lucky.

Already in the city were the conference was occuring, they had little chance at escape. Oh sure, about half of them could get out, as they were based around the city rather than directly inside it, but even that would be risky. Still they would pull out.

With a slight sigh, the former general gave the order. All forces inside Assington would began an armored assault upon the conference itself. That force, nearly 1000 strong, would be ordered to cordone the area to the best degree possible, and wait for the conference to begin to break up. Then...then dart fire would begin to take out whatever vehicles attempted to leave, and the true assault begin.

The man formerly known as Jornin reviewed the order. Looking towards the sky, the grim mask of his suit truly embodied the reborn man. With that, the man ressurected as Attila moved on.

(note: I've decided to change what was happening to make my actions more acceptable to Assington. Only 1000 men actually made it into the city, and the rest are now attempting to leave the nation, largely through going underwater, or otherwise moving as hidden as possible. Those last 1000 will be the ones to attack. Also, please do not begin openning fire on them quite yet, as I'll be posting their original attack soon, and then people can take them out however they feel best, otherwise though for all you know your attacking civilians. Even if they are out when they shouldn't be, they could still be civilians.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Ohempushet whistled happily. The divisions were moving into position well. Using Order satellites the hostile forces that moved into position hadn't gone unnoticed for long. Assington in front, TST to one side, a very small Nodian force to the other. It was time for an Alamo.

The divisions had already begun entrenchment. Using a medium sized town as their lynchpin, it had been abandoned when they arrived, the divisions had been split into a kind of elongated diamond, with the points splitting the three forces. Each of the points held the largest concentrations of the few Champions whom had joined, along with the automated weaponry.

Changing his suits focus angle to his west, he saw the Corps artillery starting to set up. Each division's artillery would be supporting its own division, but Corp...Corp would be special. Surrounded by long range Darts, the Corp would begin to open fire as a whole on whatever target became the best. If the enemy concentrated, the Corp would batter it.

Also gathering in the center was his special strikeforce. All the men not assigned to the various divisions had gathered there. Nearly 7.5k strong, they would constitute the main shock force. If the enemy faltered, they would spearpoint the counter attack.

It was with little surprise that the first air sighting were reported. Hmmm...Assington thinks they are quick do they? . Glancing at the incoming report, the General smiled. Long range bombers. Brilliant. They'll crater the landscape a little, give us even better locations to dig into with relatively few casualties...oh and then we can fire some long range darts after them and take them out. .

Issueing the order, the General could only wait. The bombs would hit, kill a few...but then the Corps would retaliate along with the stricken division, and fire about 500 long range darts at the enemy bombers. Lets see them escape a swarm of Darts that strong

Surveying his chosen battlefield one more time the General was pleased. Hills covering most of the North, East, and West, the South alone had any major flatlands, and they would be under full cross-fire from the South-East and South-West diamond points. Whistling once more, the General sent the last order. In the distance, the Assington bombs hit the checkered forces, killing about 5 apiece, the kill radius just wasn't big enough to do more, but creating very useful defensive positions.

Sveral divisions of tanks lay in wait for enemy movements, unaware the suits had dug in. Finally intel came in over the radio.

"New intelligence indicates the enemy is holding position within Coomera. Strategists recommend to wait 30 minutes for additional 150 MF Tanks. Begin deploying secondary functions as we have been informed that standard tank battle would not be efficient."

The commanding officer nodded and switched off the radio. Immediately he began orderings tanks to certain locations surrounding the town that would be out of sight. He knew he would most likely lose a lot of men doing so, but his force of 250 tanks were put there for a reason.
___________

As the underwater forces began abandoning their attack upon the conference and making a retreat, they moved directly into range of the harbour naval forces. All ordered to fire on target lock, all ten subs unleashed a barrage of five torpedos and 3 drills each into the mass of enemy units. The forces waited to examine the damgage before further attacking.

OOC: These drills are pretty much little torpedos that attatch onto the target and burrow into, obviously causing it to fill up with water.

OOC: My fault, I sort of assumed they were near the coast. Ignore the shells, unless the troops are within some 10 km of the coast.

IC: The fifty Black Hand commandos arrived at the conference site and spread out across the complex after ensuring no real damage had been done yet. The mortar fire had suddenly ceased, enabling the Black Hand to find good defensive positions and set up a perimeter around the complex. The delegates were being evacuated by their respective bodyguards, and would soon be in a safe place, probably, wherever that was. It wasn't the Black Hand's business anymore, as long as they were out of the direct lines of fire. Hiding in the complex, in the gardens surrounding it, with snipers on the roofs and some lightweight landmines in the possible entrances, they were ready.

"What kind?"

"Satellite. The sats are registered to some Tremalkian corporation, most likely a coverup for the Tremalkian army. If we are able to jam the signals the enemy rogues will be blind in the field."

Cursing under his breath, the General gave the now all important order. "All troops, this is Ohempushet. Switch radio transponders to civilian and Order lines. Patch into the lowland redirects if you have to, it'll have a 15 second lag, but if you patch that into a civilian feed, you should be alright. Activate rotating frequencies with a deviated uplink as well, they want to try and hold us down, we've got to keep our sight."

Quickly following his own orders, the General switched frequencies. The sudden drop in clarity and power in his sensors was instantly noticeable, but so long as the long-range scanners of the Corps were up, they should be alright.

All four hundred tanks sat within range of the enemy via their secondary mode. Setup in strategic locations throughout hills and vegetation surrounding the enemy encampment, the forces awaited the attack command.

In addition to the tanks, several mounted machine guns were in place in an attempt to defend any passage towards the tanks. A few hundred metres behind, two full squadrons of Apache battle choppers lay in wait, ready to bombard the enemy with guided rockets and hundreds of metal storm shells.

"All forces strike on my count. I want the choppers to sit back until my command, we must work out what their reaction will be first. I have word that the army is indeed on it's way, a large portion of it too. But for now it's just us, so let's do what we can. MT fire, concentrate on communications structures in the first two waves, then begin striking at will. Choppers, go for the suit legs when you fire rockets. All ready. FIRE!"

Choppers ascended into the sky, still behind hill cover as the secondary mortar function of the tanks began to unleash hell upon the enemy encampment.

The flashes of multiple explosions could been seen from the deck of the C-SOTL Tri/2-Ferryman, but only if you were looking for them... with a satalite feed.

That was, of course, what the Captain was doing. From there, the view was switched to another scene, but still violance. It was a costal area, but an importent one; the peace conferance was to have been held there. Now the building was being pounded by morters.

With a sigh, the Captain did the only thing he could. He reported it to his superious and waited.

Jane was interupted from her conversation by tap on her shoulder. Turning her head slightly, she saw that Tom was holding his own phone to his chest.

'News' he mouthed.

"Could you hold on a second?" she asked the junior officer before briskly turning fulling to the other man.

"Yeah?"

"Higher-up's have decided where the blame for this murder un-offically lays. The message I got seems to relate to the Assington Peace converance that is right now being attacked by rogue Tremalkien troops. They believe that it's the same group that was involved in this murder. I'm kinda getting the picture that that's what they want US to believe too."

"Ah... and do you?"

Tom cleared his throut nervously, "Well.. it does seem to fit. A peace conferance would seem to be the best place for un-religious nations to have pull over the "Believers", and I suppose it is more than a couinsidence that the Peace Conferance is being attacked now."

"I see. What does Command want us to do about it?"

"What do we always do?"

Jane sighed, "Well, it's what we're paid for."

She turned away from Tom and spoke into her phone once again, "We'd like to have the body interned. As per our investigations, an autopisy will not be required. If you would stick the body in a morgue somewhere while we bring up a party to take the body home? Also, since our investigation is finished, warn your security forces that a helicopter will be comming for us soon."

OOC: DAMMIT! I have posted, or at least tried to post here seven or eight times now, and so far nothing has appeared! I'm just pleased I had the sense to save the damn post...

Tremalkier to answer your questions:
1) I'll admit my subs don't have a thousand torpedoes on board. I didn't realise you had so many, I thought you maybe had a hundred tops, probably more like ten to fifty. As for locating them, I've had them linked up to satellites because of the previous lack of sonar. Ground+satellite recon could identify that your men were in the harbour underwater, and then the subs simply have to go there, and use sensitive sonar. Even if they can't pick out the individual guys, they'll still be able to see a mass of them, and detect the mortars being fired.
2) I've been landing guys throughout the whole RP, since I expected you to do a land attack and wanted guys on the ground to counter it directly rather than land guys later and have to chase you around. I was, however, assuming your guys are near the coast, since that's where the majority of my troops and tanks are. The mechs I dropshipped in earlier, but there are very few of them, though they are more towards the centre of the country. If you're forces are quite far inland then I apologise and feel free to ignore.

Will make IC post later or tomorrow, when I've re-read the thread...

I've just started a full time job, so my posting abilities have declined a bit. However, I still don't see how you'd find me. Sonar can't detect something thats barely moving on the ocean floor, and satellites wouldn't pick up something like that either. As for a mass, it takes around 3 men to aptly work a mortar, so thats not exactly massed. The majority would be spread out and dug in to defend the mortar crews.

Lieutenant Iluynasha had only a second to blink before the sudden enemy barrage started slamming into his position. In a three quarter entrenchment (i.e. the suit is entrenched up to the shoulders) the lieutenant's sensors began flaring with incoming signatures.
SHIT! Without the time even to write an alarm the Lieutenant activated his emergency beacon and crouched as best as he could to avoid as much of the enemy fire as possible.

Spiralling his sensor viewpoint he watched as the entire ridge was suddenly hit by mortar fire, but without a major follow up. Time to get moving
"Squad A, this is the Lieutenant. Prepare defensive modes, and await airborne or infantry follow up. I want all darts at the ready, secondly get me divisional artillery, I want those hills on the other side trashed now!"

It was with a slow realization that the lieutenant realized that something incoming sure as hell wasn't a mortar. "Helis incoming, all men prepare for airborne defensive!"

Crouching inside his trench the Lieutenant, as all his men were, silently aimed at the incoming helicopters and prepared to let loose a storm of Darts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Ohempushet surveyed the battle from his suit's battlescreen. The radius of attack was small, only encompassing a single division. Slightly biting his lip, he weighed his options. Obviously a small force, only helicopters attacking, something fire a shitload of mortars...maybe some kind of automated platform? Half-tracks? Tanks even?

Slowly he came to realize there was only two choices. Stay in position, and continue this artilerry dual, Divisional against whatever they had, with his men picking off whatever helicopters came to close, and the Champions whatever they could...or they could fire corps and let the reserves loose.

Best to finish this enemy quickly.

"This is the General. Divisonal reserve it to meet with strikeforce Alpha. Move out via the South-East lynchpin, and follow cover fire from Divisional Artillery. I want full cover spread, make those damned mortars fight to survive, I want every piece firing armor piercing and high explosive. Corps will fire some heavier missiles once the force enters the intermediary zone. I want this attack to be quick, smooth, and decisive."

Again watching his battlescreen, a glob of red slowly began to concentrate, and head south-east.

(Just to clarify, Divisional reserves would be about 10,000 men, about 8000 Hammers, 1750 Falcons, and 250 Light Champions, plus 1,500 from Strikeforce Alpha, which would be Imperials, the Assault branch of the Hammers, that is the Corps unassigned men, split into Alpha, Beta, Delta)

Defense Minister Enkil sat over a recent satellite reading of the current battle against the rogue forces. The initial attack had commenced but the force was too small to hold for long, he needed far greater numbers in there.

The army was moving in with over 250 000 asorted armed troops, yet a force like that takes some time to move. Cursing as he examined the situation, Enkil called in an officer.

"Officer, am I correct in assuming that we have cruise missiles in standby that are not armed with nuclear, chemical or biological weapons at this facility?"

"Yes sir, they usually used for tests."

"Good. Load as many as you up with the most volatile explosives you have available. We need to buy us some more time for our army to arrive."

"Yes sir."

The commander reviews a real time satellite map as the enemy forces begin their retaliation. Every second counts as he rushes to a decision that could cost hundreds of lives. Finally he gets on the radio.

"MT's, continue fire but focus upon what appear to be supply areas and the others send some mortar fire toward that moving division before they get out of range."

"Acknowledged"

The Mortar-Tank fire was redirected as ordered, raining destructive hell upon the designated part of the Tremalkien camp that was in range whilst others sent a few shots towards the mobile division, yet it was not a significant attack.

"Choppers. I want you to remain behind the MT's and protect them from incoming enemy attacks. If they use artillery, take it out, if they send suits, take them out. Be wary of anti-air though. We must protect the MT's, they have far more ammo than you guys. Got it?"

Just as the commander was about to turn his attention to other matters, the artillery from the enemy began slamming into the hills surrounding his MT's. This wasn't good at all.

"Change of orders. Choppers, take out their long range with missiles, we can't afford to lose the MT fire immediately. MT squad 3 (50 tanks), I want you to revert back to primary position and relocate for another round of bombardment."

"Yes sir."

During the decision of action, we recommend tighter security, especially near all federal and religious buildings as well as travel zones such as airports and train stations. We offer financial assistance and special forces if necessary.
