New Armada ship designs released.
The Xanthalian Armada announced plans today to build two new prototypes of what are being called the Provocant and Zabertini class. The two new vessel classes have been in planning for almost two years now, and the Armada released today the first rendered models of the ships to be built. The designs reflect a continuing trend on Xanthalian craft being built with a "starfleet" hull design, and also demonstrate a shift in design methodology to integrate the functions of the ship's biological crew and technological systems to maximize performance and efficiency.
The Provocant class (named with the French word for 'defiant'):

Designed to supplement fleet defense, this light ship is to be completely automated with the ability to be controlled remotely. It is planned to feature no standard weaponry, but will be equipped with the ability to erect multiple shield grids around itself and other ships in close proximity to it. No details are available yet, but the Armada has hinted that the Provocant class will be given the use of a new weapon prototype designed to disrupt and/or destroy enemy shield grids.
The Zabertini class (named for the nation's founder, Zeke Zabertini):

This is a warship prototype of medium size. Expected to far surpass the current Dreadnaught class in terms of firepower, defense, and overall functionality, the Zabertini class will serve as a high-profile attack cruiser and may even replace the Dreadnaught class as the Armada's mainstay warship despite its higher cost. The Zabertini class will be outfitted with new, upgraded phasers and disrupters that will allow a drastic reduction in the number of individual arrays needed to optimize firepower. The Zabertini class will also feature the latest in alternative weaponry, including ion/plasma cannons, bio-based weaponry hitherto seen only on the Rhade class, and several other systems completely new to the Armada.

The Principality of Skeelzania congradulates Xanthal on their leaps and bounds in ship design. We will be monitoring the Provocant and Zabertini classes' progress with interest.
We would like to thank the Principality and wish them luck on their own "Project M".
The latest news on the Provocant class is that it will be launched for test flight later this year. A last-minute change to the vessel design has also been made, and the Provocant will support a small crew.
The Provocant prototype was launched today from the Aellis VII Shipyards, only hours after its specifications were released by the Ministry of the Armada and Military. It will be undergoing several trials to test its performance before being temporarily commissioned for observation. Israel Orwell, the woman in charge of the Than IV Shipyards where the Zabertini class prototype is being built, has announced that her team expects to complete construction of the new ship in December.
Provocant class (light defensive): $50,000,000,000
The Provocant class is designed for aiding in the defense of weaker or less protected vessels in combat. Its entire hull functions as a shield emitter/projector that allows the Provocant to strengthen or supplement the shields of other vessels in formation. Though it cannot fight alone, it provides very useful offensive supplementation to warships, able to employ specialized technology to disrupt and leech power from enemy shield grids.

Zabertini class (medium tactical): $750,000,000,000
The Zabertini class serves as a high-profile assault vessel. Designed with the balance of the Dreadnaught class, the Zabertini class has improved offensive and defensive capability and a wider range of functions than its predecessor, including several new weapons and the experimental Neural Control and Immersion System (NCIS). Still a prototype at this stage, the Zabertini class is expected to eventually replace the Dreadnaught as the Armada's mainstay warship.

Both ships have been tested thoroughly, and will be in stardock for one month while supplementary construction is conducted to rectify the problems found during the testing period. Both vessels will also be given landing gear.
The Provocant class prototype has been temporarily commissioned to the Armada fleet under the new "light defensive" category as XAX-701.
The Zabertini class prototype has been temporarily commissioned to the Armada fleet under the "medium tactical" category as XAX-702.
They will operate for five years, then be reviewed. If approved, they will be granted a permanent commission and reassigned the XAS designation. Future plans for the classes will be announced at that time.

OOC: Just out of curiosity, I'm a big trek fan, and I recognize the Provocant as an Akira-class ship but what's the Zabertini exactly in teh trek world? I'mnot trying to be stupid about it or anything, I think it's reallly cool actually, that people use those for their armada,I was just wondering for myself!
Thanks!
Teatroia: OOC: I'm not completely certain if it was ever shown in the shows or not or if it's merely the creation of fellow trekkies, but the name I found it under was Excalibur class. It didn't look familiar to me, so I'm guessing it was either a ship created for a background shot somewhere in the show or was a model that was created by their team but never aired.
The Provocant class prototype has failed its review due to inadequate shield-projection technology. It will be refitted and tested under designation XAX-701.
The Zabertini class prototype has passed its review and been permanently commissioned as XAS-702. Nine more Zabertini class vessels are to be constructed immediately.

Nice!
[OOC: There isn't a canon Excalibur class, so it must be a fan ship. Looks very similiar to a Sovereign class....]
The Provocant class prototype has been refitted with advanced shield projectors and passed its review. It has been permanently commissioned as XAS-701.
