The DCP eventually won a major election, however, and Ariddia underwent a drastic change.

Private enterprise was outlawed, and the government took over the economy. Civil rights soared far beyond anything the Ariddians had ever known. Social rights became a primary government concern, and massive amounts of money were poured into righting social wrongs and ensuring decent living standards for every Ariddian. The economy rapidly collapsed. The DCP has been systematically re-elected, and has denied allegations by the main Opposition party (the right-of-centre Movement for a Democratic Alternative) of rigged elections. Although the United Nations has urged Ariddia to improve its democratic rights, the government has responded that "Ariddians have never been freer", and continues to promote social and civil rights at the expense of an economy now beyond disastrous...

The Brotherhood first openly rose to power on the ruins of the Soviet Union, which fell apart some fourty years after the USSR was victorious in the Great World War (appr. 1946-1956). Later the Brotherhood seized control of several African third-world countries, and moved it's attention to there, eventually liberating all of Africa from it's Western oppressors. The former Soviet Union has always remained an area of influence for the Brotherhood, together with the Balcan area, some parts of South-America and South-Asia.

Basically anything is allowed that doesn't interfere with the government. Communication within the Brotherhood is restricted to prevent foreign instigators brainwashing the population, and border security is airtight to prevent spionage. The Brotherhood is the largest source of Tiberium on the world market, controlling approximately 55% of the world's Tiberium mining industry.

With at least thirty states and three republics in the nation, California has become a economic, industrial, military, and technological power.

Since the dissolution of the United States of America, California has took it upon itself to continue the role of the United States throughout the world, after almost two centuries the nation has become one of the top capitalist economies in the world. The Democratic-Socialist Party of California has been in power throughout California for the last two-hundred years directing the nations policies at home and abroad, private enterprise is encouraged and the people are allowed to have control over most aspects of the economy. Civil rights throughout California remain to be some of the greatest throughout the nation as California has retained most if not all of the constitutional amendments from the former United States and more.

Social rights remain to be one of California's benchmarks throughout the nation as it has setup several charities and funds to help the jobless, homeless, the physically-incapable and other under-priviliged and disadvantaged groups throughout the nation. However, all the latest technological advances are found throughout Roycelandia and the Empire, and the nation is in no way outdated-it's just as modern as anywhere else c.2004.

Technically, Roycelandia is a Democracy, but His Majesty has total control if he chooses to exercise it- which he often does. Citizens vote on most issues, and elect parliamentary representatives.

The Colonies are managed by Governor-Generals acting on his Authority and with the same powers as His Majesty.

Knootoss has managed to combine liberal attitudes with one of the most orderly societies on earth, in a community that manages to be radical and sensible without being silly or staid. The Knootians aren't bogged in their clichés, even though bikes, dykes and windmills fields are pretty much the norm outside the major cities.

For travellers, the integration of the clog and the microchip works well. Knootoss is easy to travel in and the locals are friendly and speak excellent English, but towns are still surrounded by canals and castle walls, the endlessly flat landscape, which inspired the nation's early artists still stretches unbroken to the horizons, and the dykes still occasionally threaten to give way.

The Opressive Church came to be after Missionaries sent from Italy came to a tiny Indian Ocean Island off Madagascar to convert the godless cannibalistic natives. The British and French both Colonized the area but their lack of interest in it led to revolts. Three nations were established from the Revolts in 1750s, one of them the Opressive Church - which has a spelling error in it's name due to a most unfortunate mishap having to do with a piece of paper, mud and a clumsy messenger boy. Christian Idealism fought off Socialism in 1900-1912. However, TOC's neighbors weren't so fortunate collapsing to Socialist Governments partially or entirely until 1924 when Conservatives regained power backed by TOC. In 1937 Fascist Revolts took the place of the dying Socialists, but were less successful: In 1942 the fascists were defeated and TOC entered WWII on the side of the allies. After the war TOC joined the UN, but became disdainful of international politics when many nations disregarded TOC as "Archaic" and "Dictatorial". Muslims also became part of TOC when large waves of them immigrated from Iran, India, Arabia and Western Africa in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. But TOC is slowly becoming more and more Issolationalist.

Latin, French, Arabic, and English are all mainstream languages to not alienate the many ethics. The Church has for it's entire history been anti-Private Enterprise, seeing it as evil and installing greed into humans. The Church controls all major Industries and Corporations over a certain size. Health Care is provided for all citizens. Immigration is encouraged, and the Government maintains an international peace corps of medics. Interesting Relations with Roania have led to two Roanian Occupations and Roanian Culture mixing in is becoming an interesting side show in TOC Affairs.

Essentially, TOC is a Religious Dictatorship, which is for it's people's betterment based on Christian Idealism.

In the eleventh century, Ribenia was united as a nation by Queen Sakura the Radiant, first of the Yoshiyama line (or Ninth Line) which is still in power today. Ribenia has traditionally always been an absolute monarchy. In the mid-twentieth century, King Shinji the Wise introduced democracy to the country, making Ribenia a constitutional monarchy with a democratically elected parliament and viceroy. By the end of his reign, corruption amongst politicians had become endemic, and it is widely said King Shinji himself was the only honest man left in government.

His granddaughter Ayane, shortly after coming to power, proclaimed that democracy was impossible and doomed to failure in Ribenia. She dissolved all democratically-elected bodies and outlawed elections and political parties, restoring the nation to a more traditional absolute monarchy. In Ayane's opinion, the failure of democracy showed that only the monarch knew what was best for the people. At the same time as she was abolishing democracy, however, she introduced a number of significant new civil rights, and the economy has flourished under her reign.

In recent years, Ayane has loosened the grip somewhat. Freedom of political speech is now legal, within certain regulations. Ayane has been nicknamed "the Compassionate Queen" by her people and, although authoritarian, is widely recognised as a kind-hearted woman who holds her people's best interests at heart.

The Ribenese government has responded with anger to UN allegations of corruption, stating that corruption was uprooted along with the vestiges of democracy, and that the United Nations "does not understand the nature of the Ribenese people." Ribenia has invited UN inspectors to the country to examine government institutions and see for themselves that corruption is a thing of the past.

14 years ago, CharlotteMaria was a socialist country. The current party in power was the Oraist Party, who had, over the years, introduced many socialist policies, and had given the recreation trade unions a lot of power. The opposition party, the Confectionist Party, lead by Yvonne Jones, had been voted out after they were defeted in a bitter battle with the recreation unions. That was when Yvonne Jones stepped down, and Charlotte became leader of the Confectionist party.

10 years ago, before the comming election there was a year of discontent. The recreation unions were holding the nation to randson, it took years to administer a phone connection due to limitless beuracracy, inflation was at 10%, unemployment was rising, and there were many many other problems. That was when the Confectionists were voted in in the election, and Charlotte became prime minister. Charlotte's policies were very contraversial. She made many laws regarding recreation union unifications and strikes. After a major battle 7 years ago, many people left the unions following a bitter defeat.

Also, Charlotte went about privatising everthing that moved, and some things that didn't, eg. postal services, banks, airlines, and many many more. She also abolished many labor and pollution laws, such as maternity leave, maximum work hours, and holiday rights. She also introduced a 'right to work' law, which gave all workers the right to work after hours, and even start up thier own businesses, on top of thier ordinary jobs. However, Charlotte has become less popular following a stock market crash about a year ago. The values of many people's shares dropped, causing them to lose much of thier hard earned wealth.

Charlotte is liked by those people who are ambitious, hard working, and who want responsibility for thier own lives. She is bitterly hated by the old communitarian types who are not very ambitious and like to have good social lives. It looks like the next election, in 3 years time, could see Charlotte and her Confectionist Party out of power. The Oraist Party have attempted to make themselves re-allectable, by attopting some semi-capitalist 'fair market' polices, which they argue are more people friendly than Charlotte's ruthless 'free market' policies.

Ancient: The Empire of Rotovia was originally built open the union of four seperate city-states who would grow to form the four states of Rotovia. After Emperor Zeus Deitus VII abdicated the thrown to run for democratic leader of the Empire the Senate of Rotovia was forced to do the same, resulting in a breif war concludin with a distinct win for the Emperor and his reformists. The first elections were called in Rotovia the next year, all free citizens over the age of 20 were free to vote.
Modern: With a series of figurehead monarchs ruling Rotovia for the next hundred years the Empire adopted the title Constituional Monarchy and spent many years in a interum phase between Oligarchy and Democracy. It was under the rule of Rotovia's last King, His Eminency Zeus Baccheus III that Rotovia's multi-party system was born and the Decree of Rotovian Rights passed.

Politics: Essentially there is only one major legislative power, the Senate of Rotovia. Though the Lower House (House of Representatives) still excists it's power has been caroded since the Senate was granted the right to propose legislation. Rotovia operates under a multi-party system whereby four major parties control the Senate, and the majority party appointing the President.

However, about 8 years ago, these proved to be the downfall of the government, as the (then) Socialist Party tried to chart Kay Son into a communal state. This was averted in the "Liberation" by the PLA (and other forces) with the government ruled by a leading Junta for about 5 years. After some time had passed, the PLA saw fit to restore sovereignty to the peoples of Kay Son, and began handing over several departments and agencies over to civil authorities.

In recent times, Parliment has been under control by the Libertarian/Green Party.

The Choson People's Republic of Dra-pol

Dra-pol's long history is characterised by exceptional isolation punctuated with incredible brutality. For several thousand years the hermit kingdom was ruled by a series of royal dynasties that were rarely challenged from within and always resisted outside contact with great violence. Between 1931 and 1938 a little reported communist revolution shook the stagnent nation to its core.

The revolution's champion, comrade Sulo, was eventually created Director of the new Choson People's Republic. Under his rule the nation's capital was moved from the old royal seat of Paegam, the forbidden city, to a smaller town even more extremely isolated by hostile topography. He established the People's Army and the elite Red Bamboo, and fought off Soviet and imperial Japanese incursion during WWII. Sulo then enacted a forced ruralisation of the population, completely destroying entire cities as the people were directed to join agricultural collectives. DaKhiem maintained a small day time population. Under pressure from the newly formed People's Republic of China, Sulo went headlong into a war with the Republic of Korea and a UN force his new and ruralised republic was ill prepared to see out. His last act was to close the republic's borders. They would not open again until more than fifty years later when Quinntonians stumbled ashore and into first the Three Day War and later the Crusader Wars in which Dra-pol bitterly resisted all efforts to change it.

This sounds more like a condensed history than a description of the current regime, but the truth is that the present state of Dra-pol's leadership is unclear. Sulo is long gone, his replacement, Kurosian I assassinated (purportedly by Quinntonian agents), Kurosian's first son imprisoned (in Quinntonia) and his bastard youngest son reportedly killed, possibly leaving Secretary Hotan, devoted follower of Kurosian I at the wheel. Dra-pol's characteristic isolationism makes this less than perfectly clear even to those nations currently engaged in a renewed Korean war against the CPRD.

In short, beyond that it purports to follow some distorted communist principles or other, all that is known is that it would be best not to go and find out. The regime's easter gift to its neighbours was to take down the crucified remains of their war dead from the border.

Now however, we are a quite nation-much like, say, Canada or Switzerland. Ravea is a massive economic power, and posesses advanced technology as well as a large amout of natural resourses. Trade and biusness is the name of the game here; huge corperations are spread throughout Ravea.

Ravea is a democratic state, although it does still have an emperor that is kept as a figurehead. Presidents are elected every 7 years, and the main politocal bady of the nation is the Senate. Several parties occupy the senete, the largest bieng the Oragi and Democrat parties. the Democrats are the current ruling party. Ravea is also a very liberal state. The government is omnipresent and watches its citizens closely.

Ravea uses small, elite armies during wartime and also utilizes a large police force at home; hence, crime is almost unknown. On an odd note, no revolutions have ever occured in Ravea's history.

The Ecotopian Grand Duchy Of Hell Bovines

A country with a long history, Hell Bovines' main characteristic has been that 99% of its population is composed by a race of sentient and semi-humanoid cows, the hell bovines.
By the begining of the XX century, Hell Bovines was a colony of The Greater Galdagan Empire, country today known simply as Galdago.
The galdagan colonialists, besides having brought Spanish language and technology to the region, had also brought explotation, forced labour and opression for the hell bovinian race. The country's resources were exploited by the foreigners and the native Hell Bovines were enslaved and sold as cattle.
However, everything changed when a young bovine revolutionary, Mooo Blackhooves (http://www.benovision.co.uk/NS/MooBlackhooves01-1.jpg), begun a campaign to start a hell bovine uprising against foreign rule. He created is own ideology called 'Ecotopia', combining enviromentalist, marxist and direct-democratic ideals and created the Bovine Liberation Squad, a guerrilla movement that would be the responsible for liberating the nation.
After the Independence War ended and the world recognised the newborn nation, elections took place and the Ecotopian party won, thus showing the acceptance of hell bovinian people for Mooo Blackhooves and its ideology.
Since that date, the ecotopian party has never lost an election and so, the country has been organised under the ecotopian principles. The country is a proud socialist nation, where all life forms are respected and where social equality is a priority, as well as education and protection of the enviroment. Most decisions are made by direct-democracy, as the duque can only take minor decisions and private property is outlawed.
Currently, the head of state is the Duque Mooo IV (Milky Spottedcrown), from the Ecotopian Democratic-Socialist Party [Partido Ecotopiano Socialdemócrata].

Certain words can best be used to describe the governance of the Commonwealth; 'simple' or 'easily understandable' are usually not among them. The nominal 'head' of the Commonwealth is the High King of the Empire, though his power is greatly limited by a series of royal edicts, enumerated treaties, implied agreements, and a long-standing tradition of parliamentary government.

To best understand the plural notion of Iansisle in modern times, a solid base of historical fact is needed. The Commonwealth, nor indeed the old Empire of the Bay, are not extraordinarily old creatures; in fact, the Commonwealth has only been around for little more than eighty years, and the Empire only predated it by two hundred and twenty. The Empire was forged in 1697 after more than two thousand years of bloody fratricidal infighting among the so-called 'Lords of the Shield.' However, a new nation would take time to be forged from the chaos of competing petty kingdoms; officially circulated notions of a 'Shieldian race' - based primarily upon good linguistics but poor genetics - helped. As the Shield united for the first time, it found that it was strong. The fledgling industry of Shadoran, the overseas trading empire of Weshield, the bravery of the Foothillsmen, the strong oligarchic government of Wyclyfe, all united under the golden crown and iron hand of Ian of Callahan, king of Shadoran? The Duchies of Noropia to the north; the river traders of Gadsan to the East, the desert nomads of Dianatran to the south east, and the shattered remnants of the Sentrian Empire to the South? None posed a formal challenge and were conquered in the space of a century.

However, dissent didn't take long to set it. The Gadsani and Dianatranians, in particular, showed an extreme distaste for Shieldian - by now, Iansisle and the Shield were more or less interchangeable terms - overlordship. At last, Her Iansislean Majesty High Queen Jessica I, now usually styled 'the Liberator,' granted limited self-government to the Gadsani traders, styling their new country the 'Dominion of Gadsan,' maintaining herself as head of state, and placing management of both the Empire and the Dominion in one 'Commonwealth Combined Parliament', whereas domestic affairs were to be handled by the states respectively. The Gadsani, eager for Shieldian military assistance against the looming threat of the Patria Effitibus on their eastern borders, readily accepted the compromise. Soon, Noropia, Tharia, Troobodia, and Dianatran were all granted similar liberties, with representation in the C.C.P. based upon population; Gallaga and the other overseas colonies, however, were not.

Now, the legacy of regionalism and racial and ethnic slights manifests itself. The Empire of the Shield's glory days are behind it, but the future is far from certain. Meetings of the Combined Parliament often break down into shouting matches, yet the Empire cannot hope to continue as even a regional power without easy access to Noropian coal to feed its factories, Gadsani iron ore its mills, Dianatranian oil its ships of the line, or Tharian fish and foodstuffs its burgeoning population. To top off the conflicts between the waning Empire and its waxing Dominions, Gallaga - long the crown jewel in the Shieldian overseas empire - has been racked by a series of bloody religious conflicts which escalate in violence after each successive act, and there is talk of mutiny among the armies of the East Gallaga Company. Closer to home, a new liberal movement, both republican and Shieldian nationalist in nature, provoked by the excesses and oppression of the industrial tycoons and the arrogance of the hereditary landed aristocracy, threatens to sweep away the faded, dust-covered fragments of the once glorious Grand Empire of the Shield.

The Republic of Syskeyia

The Republic of Syskeyia was founded in 1303 following the final adoption of the Constitutio Reipublicae and the defeat of King Adam II/Achilles "the Apostate" at Nova Ardea. It has over the centuries evolved into the modern republic it is today.

The national government is divided into three branches. The executive branch is headed by two Consuls. These Consuls technically have equal authorty, but one Consul, called the President and First Consul, enjoys "primacy of administration," which in effect creates a system not unlike the President/Vice President system of the United States of America. The Consuls are elected by popular vote for 5 years and cannot serve more than two terms in office.

The national legislature is the Syskeyian Parliament, which comprises of two houses, the Senate and the Assembly. The Parliament is peculiar because, like parliamentary governments such as the UK and Knootoss, it has an official Oppostiion "shadow government" as well as a "Government," but unlike parliamentary governments the chief executive's office is not affected by parliamentary elections. (i.e. the "Opposition" is the poeple who aren't on the Consul's party/faction/coalition/etc. It should also be noted here that the leader of the "shadow government" traditionally runs against the "government" part in the presidential/consular elections) The Senate is the "upper house" of the Parliament. Its members, who are famous for their uniforms (http://img40.photobucket.com/albums/v123/Syskeyia/sys_senator.jpg), are elected by their respective provincial legislatures. The Assembly, which lacks such uniforms, is elected by the people.

The highest judicial authority in Syskeyia is the High Court.

The 77 provinces of Syskeyia (including Syskeyian Mars) each have a similar setup in their governments, except for the fact that there is only 1 governor per province.

Skeelzania is a Principality, where the Royal Family rules according to Fascist principles. The goverment contains two seperate political entities, the first being the Grand Prince himself (currently His Excellency Grand Prince Dmitri Skeelzot I) and the Congress of Lesser Nobles, the Ziad.

The Grand Prince weilds almost all of the real political power within the country. In theory, laws are suggested by either the Grand Prince or the Ziad. If the Grand Prince puts forth the law, the Ziad votes on it and it is then ratified by the Prince (if it passes). Laws put forth by the Ziad follow more or less the same path: voted on within the Ziad, then ratified by the Prince. In practice, the Ziad is merely a rubber stamp for His Excellency; it has been over 40 years since the Ziad put forth a proposal.

The Ziad itself is made up of the lesser nobles of the Principality. These are typically the CEOs of the large corporations that dominate the Skeelzanian economy. Others are offshoots of the Skeelzot family, or distinguished military commanders.

In addition to being God when it comes to foreign and domestic policy, the Grand Prince is Commander-in-Cheif of all Skeelzanian forces. Technically, the Army and Fleet cannot be used without approval by the Ziad. However, the Principality Guard, the FS, are not only the crack troops of Skeelzania and the largest military group within the Principality, they bound to the will of the Prince. Several times in our history the FS has been ordered against the Ziad, when the nobles proved 'unruly'.

On an interesting side note, the Lesser Houses are allowed to raise and equip their own militaries. Fortunanetly, these are often poorly trained, badly-motivated, and racked by in-fighting.

Constitutional Monarchy of Callisdrun

Regime description: Democratic Socialist Constitutional Monarchy

Callisdrun was formed by the union of two city-states, Callisdrin (now the seat of government), and Drun (now the site of Callisdrun's leading university), in the 800's. Since then, Callisdrun has always had a King or Queen. Though their power has been reduced, they still retain some authority. The main lawmaking branch of the government, though, is the Parliament, with elections held to determine which party, or party coalition shall lead, and hence choose the prime minister. A supreme court system similar to that of the US makes decisions regarding the law and Callisdrun's constitution. Justices are appointed by the Monarch and must be approved by the Parliament. The current political parties were mostly formed at various times during the 18th and 19th centuries, replacing previous political parties as the issues changed. Equality among the various citizens has been stressed since the 1100's, Callisdrun having never adopted a patriarchal society, due to the old religion remaining the norm.
In the last two centuries, the dominant political party has been the socialist party, although several other parties, including the business party, have had periods of control. Callisdrun has high taxes and its economy has never been very powerful, but the Government keeps its people happy, and as elections have proved, the Socialist party has remained popular with most Callisdrunians.

The PRK was established in the late 1980's, with the current ruling establishment brought to power by a popular uprising. A twelve-member Presidium exercises control of the government. The Chairman of the Presidium is the head of state, wielding most of the actual power. To provide a voice for the people, an elected legislature, the National Consultative Congress of the People’s Delegates, exists and meets every five years, though its true function is little more than ceremonial.

Observers may notice that the regime is often referred to as the “Provisional Government” by official state documents. In fact, this name is of no practical purpose, but is a holdover from the days of the Revolution, when the regime claimed to serve as a stepping stone to democracy.

The ASA has had several government takeovers in the last month. First a corrup dictatorship has taken over. Then a capititalist/Democratic government began to fight against the facists in long bloody battles in Aanmerricaa's streets. THe Facists responded with a Facist police, a sort of Gestapo patrolling arresting and killing anyone who has any slight idea about a tiny change in government. After 1 year (NS time) the Democratic Captilists finally took power and began setting up a unigue democratic system that allowed the people to have their say in votes and governemnt opinions and the buisness to have theirs. The people of the ASA fully apreciate and support the new and whonderfull government that has no bestowed apon them. JAck Ruffles and CEO Jake Drake still fight for equal rights for everone, abundant political freedoms and a rich and powerfull econemy.
