Lin gritted his teeth as he swung his axe hard into the side of a tree. He swung again, dodging as the tree began to twist and collapse under it's own weight. One more swing would finish it.
With tearing noise that sounded like a Baroque Viol, the tree collapsed as Lin swung at it one last time. He remembered the old saying that the Greenies use to teach in schools. Seventy years to make them tall, ten minutes to make them fall. The price of progress.
"Lin! Your lumber schedule is over. It's your turn on the construction site."
He looked up. It was his boss, Yip. He was a fairly good, if somewhat eccentric boss. Lin nodded back, his head moving in agreement. He dropped the axe into a nearby crate and headed over the hill.
