G419. Once a mystery, the heroic efforts of the bold adventurers that set out on the starship XAS-178 over two decades ago brought back the first charts of the distant galaxy and the first data on people in it. Their work will not be forgotten, but on this January ninth, two thousand five hundred and twenty-five, we salute our newest adventurers, the bold crew of XAS-179. As its sister ship takes over its duty in the Sol system, the Excursion class starship one-seven-nine sets out to complete the exploration that XAS-178 began. When she returns sixty years from now, she will bring with her a complete map of the G419 galaxy and whatever other data she may encounter. As we bid farewell to the ten thousand travellers, many of which will never return, our thoughts go out to the sixteen sentient species discovered by XAS-178. We are returning.
