After what has been described as a "mostly bloodless coup," the General Secretary of Maransune announced that "a new age has dawned." Anonymous but close sources within the Maransune government describe the situation.
"[They]... seized control of the goverment... snuck into the offices of the Prime Minister, Asako Minasake and forced and him... to step down at gun point...a few tried the charge the communists but were shot."
The communist operation, which was premeditated and planned to occur at roughly the same time throughout the country, has so far encountered little reported resistance, but what reactionaries are found, it hopes to "crush" as soon as possible.

The international community of Mars has yet to acknowledge the tragedy.

After several decades of construction, ship designers from Tasty Foods and the other members of the Polioris Alliance announced that their new super star destroyer class vessel, "The Captain," is complete and ready for active service. Jubilant supporters of the 17 kilometer long prototype battleship have already stated that they consider it "arguably the most powerful starship" in the universe.
