Klonor Colony Enters the International Arena

SR-2091

Senate Head Yilson Quirs sat in his office, reading an endless string of status reports and taking constant shots from the C-Bottle next to him.

"I swear, no matter how far our technology advances or how far our inter-stellar Empire reaches, I have yet to find anything that can match the ecstacy of a good Collostomizer. It's got a kick like a racehorse and is smoother than a bottle of cream. Makes these boring days go by so much more quickly."

He then resumes his reading, signing where he needs to sign and taking shots faster than a man with a machine gun. Suddenly, a messenger barges in with a shocked/horrified/really really high look on his face.

"Sir, we have a communication from the New Dawn 03 and.......... and............ and............ wow, that bottle is really shiny."

"Jesus Christ, are you high again? What have I told you every day for the past 10 years? Wait until you're off duty before sparking! Now, what was that about the New Dawn?"

"We've received a comm..............."

"Stay focused, damnit!"

"A communication, sir. They've reached Epsilon Pegasi and attempted to reach Klonor governmental offices, but got no response. They were soon attacked by vessels belonging to Vernii and Taka, but they managed to resolve that and entered into discussions."

"That's good news. What are you so workedup about?"

"Well, they learned that............. wow, it really is shiny......."

"Focus man, focus!"

"Right, sorry, sir. They learned that Klonor has fallen! The Duke is dead! The Empire has fallen into shambles! There's nothing left except some tinpot dictators in Gamma Draconis and Ross128. Sir.............we're alone out here."

"Well.........shit."

Broad Beam Transmission: All Nations of the Milky Way Galaxy

This is Senate Head Yilson Quirs, leader of the system SR-2091, formerly of the Klonor Empire. We have been isolated for decades, our extreme distance from the interior Empire making travel here all but impossible except by the expensive Nexus ships. Our colony has been building itself up for decades, making ourselves a self-supportive system with the hopes of one day re-joining the Empire. That day has passed. Approximately 3 days ago the New Dawn 03, a Nexus class vessel, reached the Epsilon Pegasi system and attempted to re-engage contact with the Klonor authorities. They were shocked to learn that Klonor has fallen, and that our tiny system is all alone.

We don't yet know how it happened, or even what happpened, but we do need to find out. The fate of our colony might depend upon it.

If anybody has any information upon the Fall oif the Klonor Empire, please, help us.

A rift occured in space as the Heavy Crusier CNS Yorktown made the transition from the Alpha wall of hyper to subspace, immediatly the disc shaped hyper-sails were shutdown and the ship was dead in space. A messege was beamed to the numorous ships and stations in the system,

"This is Ambassador Franks of the Commonwealth of the WIck, we are here to answer your call to the milikyway and wish to establish formal contact with your colony." The ambassador awaited his response.

A ripple of warped chance at the edge of the system was the only sign the vessel's FTL drive gave; reality momentarily.. blurring, befor the ship resolved; 1500 meters long, 2700 including the twin inertial drive spines driven through her legnth, her kind had yet to be see by the galaxy, but her IFF beacon readily identifyed her as Kanuckistani - the KHGV XPBC-144, not even named yet, her unpainted hull still carrying the marks telltail of premature shipyard departure.

Several light hours away from the planet, her shields half powered and weapons on warm standby, she practicly explodes upon sensor plots system-wide as massivly powerful sensors activly scan EM and FTL, scouring the system.

A minute after arrival, she finally anounces her intentions, "This is the Kanuckistani High Gaurd Vessel Ex-Pee-Bee-Cee-Dash-One-Four-Four, Captain Tsiya Bold commanding; we are here in response to your transmission with the goal of establishing diplomatic relations."

OOC:
You gotta wonder, when a superpower sends an unfinished prototype on a diplomatic mission, what does it mean?

I'm afraid we've been preoccupied with several major military operations as of late, and have only the vaugest of rumors regaurding the fall of Klonor. That last part, I'm afraid, is as genuine as far as can be known; we can spare no ships to investigate at this time.

I also regret to inform you that the aforementioned rumors hint at annexations by forgine powers and would-be dictators from within; with this in mind, we thought it imparative that a vessel be dispatched to make contact and discourage forgine aggression against your colony.

Have no fears on that level, we are more than capable of defending ourselves. Before the Fall we received the focus of almost the entire military production from Ross128, our defenses rival Deneb itself. We appreciate your concern, but it is not necessary.

Affirm SR-2091; you might be a tough nut, but you're presently alone, and a little extra discouragment to the opertunistic empires out there never hurts. Besides, we are also interested in opening relations.

OOC: It's a radio transmission that is only transmitted with enough strength to go a bare few meters. However, it's transmitted into Sub-Space with the exit point either directly on or next to the receiver station. Therefor, only that one ship (or planet or building or whatever) can hear the transmission. Broad Beam Transmissions are essentially the same thing, except the transmission power is pumped up quite a bit and the eixt point is dispersed across many light-years so pretty much anybody can hear it.

We thank you for your interest, but right now we need information more than anything else. Our citizens are distraught and our government is in shambles. We need to know what happened. Rumors and gossip do nothing but raise the worry.

If you know anybody who could help and how to contact them, we would be eternaly grateful.

OOC: Quick Question: How the hell did you get here so quickly? I just realised that the SR-2091 star system is some 1,576,800 light years from Sol. The entire diamter of the Milky Way Galaxy is only about 100,000 light years. This solar system is in an entirely different galaxy (I have no idea which one). How'd you get there so quickly?

We have encoded a text file into this transmission containing a list of most of the space nations known to us. You may contact any or all of them as you see fit. Whatever you choose you have our condolences for your loss and a standing offer of assistance should you need it. Our vessels are much faster than yours and can make a round trip between a nation in our galaxy and SR-2091 in less than three days. If you need assistance meeting any contacts in this galaxy, we'd be glad to provide one or two transports free of charge. Once again, we apologize that we cannot be more helpful.

followed by a short description of the specific state of affairs between Xanthal and the nation in question.

-Starfleet-: 6. Xanthal admires and respects -Starfleet- for its good nature toward its own people and other nations.

-the klingon empire-: 4. Xanthal is suspicious of -the klingon empire- due to their tendency to solve problems with physical violence.

Aelosia: 7. Once a bitter enemy of Xanthal, relations between the two nations have improved dramatically. Both now are happy to let one another do as they please and reap the benefits of cooperation.

Angelus: 0. Despite long mutual knowledge of both nations' existence and many near-brushes of contact Xanthal and Angelus have never taken the time to talk.

Arenumberg: 6. After an initial contact that nearly ended in war and a short-lived treaty Xanthal and Arenumberg have aquired a mutual respect for one another.

Atlantian Outcasts: 6. Xanthal fought side-by-side with Atlantian Outcasts in the first international Demon war, and a mutual feeling of respect and friendship has existed between the two nations since that time.

Clairmont: 2. After an attack on a Clairmont space station was falsely blamed on Xanthal, a war almost erupted between the nations. Armed conflict was averted, but neither nation has any desire to deal with the other anymore.

DNS: 5. Years of diplomatic neglect have cooled the once friendly relations between DNS and Xanthal.

Eastern Newfoundland: 6. Xanthal once helped protect an Eastern Newfoundland colony from hostile forces. No formal relations ever emerged.

Falasmayon: 6. Falasmayon and Xanthal maintain a diplomatic friendship.

Foe Hammer: 7. Foe Hammer went into space on the wings of Xanthalian technology, and both nations are ready to support one another if need be.

Gore_2004: 5. Lack of significant interaction betwen these two nations has resulted in mutual indifference.

Guanyu: 5. Xanthal once attempted to buy a space station from Guanyu, but their order was refused. No other official contact between the nations has occurred.

Hrintare: 9. Allied with Xanthal since its founding, the small and docile nation of Hrintare has become a Xanthalian protectorate.

Isles of Wohlstand: 7. Xanthal and Isles of Wohlstand have historically been close friends, but a lack of contact in recent years has cooled relations a great deal.

Jitano: 0. Xanthal and Jitanese ships have met on many occasions, but the two governments have never really talked. Xanthal is content to just let Jitano be.

Kecha: 4. Xanthal and Kecha were allies for centuries before a short and bloody conflict between them created a schism of hostility.

Klonor: 6. Xanthal and Klonor are old aquaintences, and both nations are happy sharing an informal generic friendship.

Leda colony: 6. Xanthal has a shallow friendship with Leda colony based on early contact between them.

Lunatic Retard Robots: 6. Xanthal and Lunatic Retard Robots have conducted more than one joint mission and maintain steady diplomatic contact. Still, their relationship remains almost entirely informal.

Melkor Unchained: 3. Xanthal has historically been an enemy of Melkor Unchained, but recent reform in both nations has prompted a slight cooling of hostilities.

Menelmacar: 0. Despite the efforts of dozens of Xanthalian leaders over hundreds of years, Menelmacar refuses to have anything to do with Xanthal.

Nanakaland: 7. Xanthal and Nanakaland share a good relationship based on decades of peaceful cooperation.

New Xanthal: 4. While officially neutral toward its capitalist counterpart, Xanthal has a deep distrust of its former comrades in New Xanthal.

Presgreif: 5. Xanthal has had only a few encounters with Presgreif, and relations have yet to be formed.

PSO Capital States: 9. An ally/subordinate colony of Xanthal since the late 1900s, PSO Capital States remains a protectorate and a friend today.

Scolopendra: 5. Recent diplomatic contact initiated with Scolopendra by Xanthal has yet to yeild any real relationship between the nations.

Sketch: 5. Xanthal has had its share of dealings with Sketch, but nothing notable. The nations are familiar with one another, but have no prevailing opinions regarding their counterparts.

Soviet Trasa: 9. After a bad start between Xanthal and Soviet Trasa involving a border dispute relations improved and the nations became fast friends. Soviet Trasa was a member of the Outer Republic when it existed, now they are a Xanthalian protectorate.

Space Rangoth: 3. Neither nation knows the other very well, but Xanthal is deeply suspicious and on-guard when it comes to Space Rangoth, as their first and only contact with them was when one of their ships had to defend a foreign outpost from Space Rangoth attack.

Sunset: 6. Sunset has had no contact with Xanthal for centuries now, but Xanthal remains warm to the somewhat less-advanced nation as they played a pivitol role in the rescue of Xanthal's first starship when it came under attack.

Techon: 0. Xanthal's one direct contact with Techon was during an intelligence mission they were conducting in another nation.

Teritora: 8. Teritora and Xanthal are long-time allies, though no one is sure why. Leaders of both nations frequently interact and are almost always willing to give one another a hand when needed.

The Centuri station: 0. Xanthal has had no contact with The Centuri station.

The Eastern Bloc: 6. The Eastern Bloc and Xanthal do not cross paths much, but when they do it is always friendly. Both nations are comfortable with each other.

The Elvarin: 7. There has been only one contact with The Elvarin to date, but in that contact they were so helpful that Xanthal already considers them good friends.

The Imperial Navy: 5. The Imperial Navy was once on friendly terms with Xanthal, but over the decades both nations have grown distant and now regard one another neutrally.

TheLiberator: 0. Xanthal is wary of this newly-appeared nation, but has decided to refrain from judging them until more time passes.

The Mindset: 5. The Mindset and Xanthal have little in the way of relations, which is surprising considering that they share a border in space. Both nations respect the other's claims, and there have as yet been no problems.

The WarBlade: 1. This pirate nation has been known to loot Xanthalian space periodically, and though they have dropped off the radar for the moment Xanthal's Armada has a standing order to destroy any vessels The WarBlade sends to its space.

Tordor: 9. Formerly an enemy of Xanthal, positive relations have finally been formed with the royal house of Tordor. A formal treaty of alliance and trade has been signed, and the diplomatic future of both nations looks bright.

Torontonias: 7. Torontonias has assisted Xanthal in several situations to date, and has earned a friend in the process.

Valinon: 8. Xanthal no longer has formal ties to Valinon, but they keep in touch and are ready to lend a hand to their friends if needed.

Zerni: 9. Relations between Xanthal and Zerni remain cool, despite a recent treaty between them.

Zoir: 3. Zoir's internal affairs are a mystery to Xanthal. Apparently there is an actual government there, but the only Zoir Xanthal has known is its pirate faction. As such, Xanthal is always defensive when dealing with Zoir.

OOC: I have heavy displacer platforms capible of sending my entire fleet anywhere in the galaxy, instantly(tho there're rarely more than a handful of ships on station there); given that the main limitation of my FTL is energy and mass, well, I can send that one little ship hella far with a full charge(the fact that my older warships were absurdly heavy for their sizes doesn't hurt).

Mind you, it'll take a little while to get back.
