Massive May Day celebration

The largest May Day celebration in Letilan history is today. It puts the Soviet Union's to shame. There are several parades of up to 100,000 people and an estimated 200 tons of confetti.

It is truely something to see. Other nations are invited to see it.

I guess people don't like May Day as much as they should. These countries are boring.

OOC: I like May Day quite well! : ) I was going to make a thread about this myself! Ah, well, I'll just reply to yours...

Alaru Srundo, the Beloved Leader of the Dictatorship of Proletariat Comrades, urged his people to participate in the extensive government-sponsored May Day Parade today. "Today is the day when we recognize our illustrious working class with all the honor they deserve," he said in a powerful speech reaffirming his love for the working class of Proletariat Comrades. "However, in our nation, every day is May Day. Every day we uplift our proletariat."
The turnout exceeded even Leader Srundo's high expectations. Hundreds of thousands lined the streets to watch the glorious Comradan military parade in the capital, while in other cities across the country large celebrations were also held. Flocks of the world renowned ulaku, or red dove, were released to show Proletariat Comrades' continued support for the noble goals of peace and Communism worldwide. Government and civilian offices alike were closed in observance of May Day, the biggest holiday observed in our nation.

To analyse this accurately, it would be fair to say that:-

1) Some nations do not celebrate Mayday
2) Some nations already have their own impressive Mayday celebrations.

The Celebrations in the Greenviewer Republic involve a day of respite and peace from work on the collective farms. During the day, the individual communities may celebrate Mayday as they wish so long as it is legal. During the night, a massive candlelight walk composed of roughly 100,000 people is planned along the main routes toward the city of Greenwatch and then a return walk back to their homes.

OOC: May day? Happy Europe day you mean!
And, indeed, non-socialist nations probably do not celbrate it because they are non-socialist, not because they are boring.

A record 7 million people showed up at May Day festivities in San Andreas, New Kingman's capital. This beats last year's record by about 1.6 million people.

My school celebrates May 1st - May Day by getting naked and drunk. At midnight the morning of May 1st and Midnight at the end most everyone shows up at the flagpole plastered and a good number of them get naked. Some people are naked all day but they have to be careful where they go. Its a good time :D !

We have at least a dozen parades. I'm not sure if there is more than usual drunkenness, though.

Mothers' day is sexist for implying that women should be mothers. May Day is progressive.
