The Poppernickle Post: Global power Maniaca recently made a strategic move to isolated island region aptly christened "Obscure Region." Talks with the two natives, both affiliated with puppetmaster Obscure Nation, have come to the result that the island should become an impenetrable fortress. From the information disclosed by both parties, it has been determined that Maniaca will be providing most of the manpower and raw materials, with Obscure Nation offering the defense equipment and architectural designs. It has been said however, that the distribution of duties is strictly temporary. It goes without saying that more information will be disclosed as more resolutions are arrived at.

The Obscure Nation government has released an official political map of Obscure Region:

The region is almost completely constructed, and the SAM's being loaded into their vertical launch tubes. This region is open to all, but you must be the kind of person I like: Not war-mongering, not troublesome, not stupid. If you wish to join our fledgling region, telegram me for the password.

I will aid Obscure Nation in his hunting down of all people who don't comply with his criteria.

Nad Reyes(called either Ferdy or Death Rey) was the lead Maniacan Technician and Designer on the Fortressification project. The air defenses would be locked up, the flack towers and all. Nad got an idea. He would build torpedo chutes into the sides of the island shelf. He called up the chief Obscurian guy. "Hey, sir, I just got a grand idea." Nad told him his idea.

"That sounds good....."

There was a long silence. Then the Obscurian spoke again.

"I just got a grand idea. We dig a trench and fortify it with walls. It goes around the whole Island and it makes just a gap in the water, nothing can go over it. At the bottom we can have hydroelectric generators with a grate over it so the wreckage doesn't fall in and crush them. We could break them off with jersey barriers--big jersey barriers--at the ports, to let in friendlies. They would be heavily guarded though, like gatehouses--"

"They could even look like gatehouses!!"

"--yeah..."

The Obscurian Architect, know as Web, took a pencil and sketched up a design for his sea wall defenses. Rather satisified, he rushed them off to the head office so that the government would approve them.
