Rebuilding an Empire(ATTN: Mars)

Ra Tora exited the Frigate and survyed his new lands.

Not as beautiful as The Old Country, but it will do, with much work.

He turned around. Workers were setting up shelters for the first wave of Ra's subjects. Some others were servicing the frigates and gravships, others were clearing out landing fields.

Ra then walked over to the nearest gravship, the Reborn Mars and entered, passing past gaurds who stood at the top of the entrance-ramp.

He walked through the myriad of corridors until he came to where his temporary office was supposed to be.

He slid the door open and walked over to his desk. He sat down in his new chair and turned on the laptop that sat there. Then he began to write.

To all of Mars,

I, Ra Tora, am asking of my fellow Martians aid in creating a new realm for my people. But this shall not be a realm only for my people, true it shall be at first, but all Martians are welcome and therefore I encourage you in jhelping me construct Mars City, the capital of what will be the Toran-Martian Co-Prospertity Sphere. Therefore, I require the myraid of specialities of the Martian peoples to help me in this effort.

This may require much of you, but there will be much to reap. My people have little and therefore we will need industries, terraforming equipment, contractors, and many of the neccesities of Martian life.

The decision is yours, you can donate money, help the Toran people, or help in the construction of Mars City.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Scincerely and humbly,

Na-Emperor Ra Tora

And then Ra pressed the submit button.

I'm quite aware of Martian affairs. I'm aware enough to know that my colony volunteered its territory as a staging area for forces of 'The Pact' of The Vortex Corporation, Der Angst, and Tarasovka, who then proceeded to overrun ADK Mars, carve up its territory, and deport its people. In short, you no longer exist as a sovereign realm. Have a nice day.

(OOC: Ominous TAG.
I had a look at the map of Mars, and BEB is right. ADK Mars no longer appears there, just like Miss N territories and some other countries.

So as far as Mars concerns, ADK has no territorial sovereignity here, and its people do not count as a nation.)

"In other news today, local police forces have begun to crack down on the deportation of Refugees from the former Martian Confederacy lands that now reside within Kajal Mars' borders. The chief of the department of immigration states that 'It's only a matter of time before we have more problems like those already faced, so we're getting rid of the buggers. They can go live in Auman for all I care.'

More on this story if it develops.

OOC: Sith, the Toran Empire isn't on the map because Kajal hasn't put it on there yet... besides I think that 150 million people who now reside in the lands bordered by Auman, Ravenspire, Kekkosamaa, and Snel and who have their own working military and government structure are very much a soverign nation. What you're saying is like the UN saying that Israel isn't a soverign nation.

And if none of you will help, then I'll do it myself....

Taking into account recent events involving ADK's presence in Mars, we are opposed to let this... troublesome... nation into our neighbourhood again.

Considering the fact that the nation of ADK has not held a presence on Mars in more than 80 years and was driven out of the Solar System almost two years ago, I do not suppose they will be returning to Mars. If you are refferring to the Martian Confederacy, no you will not see them again. The Khristian League was dispersed and more than a hundred million of them are now on their way to Qaaolchurova, five million of them reside in Bajon and five million of them in Auman. But you must unbderstand that their infastructure was wiped out almost entirely by the war with Melkor and the subsequent war with the Pact. The Toran Empire, a nation that has been soverign for 80 years now, retains its infastructure and stability and has merely moved out of the hotbed of violence that is the former Martian Confederacy. The Toran Empire has wished for nothing but peace and stability throughout their exsistence, and ahs attempted to mediate many conflicts but has been

Dozens of permant domes were being constructed throughout this land that remained to be settled... A peice of the last dry land on Mars... Hospitals that had been disassembled during the Exodus from the Toran homeland were being peiced back together. Industries also, first the industries that produced domestic neccessities, then military factories, and then those that produced domestic luxuries.

New frigates and destroyers were being built on the ground, the prefabricated parts being peiced together and being outfitted with the last of the Toran gravmines.

Border defenses were being put up also and increasing daily with the hostility blantantly shown by the rest of Mars.

The Merchant fleet moved back and forth between Mars and Earth bringing needed dirt, organisms, water, atmosphere, and minerals.

Sounds of drills could be heard throughout the new Tporan Empire as veins of metals and minerals were searched for.

The shipyards in orbit were finally back at work, repairing the remaining 25 vessels of what had been the Confederate Combined Fleet, now it was the Imperial Toran Fleet and it would continue to be.

Everything went as it should be, orderly and neat, it didn't matter what Mars said about them, they were a soverign nation.

And Siri whatever, nobody likes you. At least I don't.

But now for some IC action (I assume this is an open RP)

The government of LRR invites ADK Mars to come and settle in the fertile farmlands of coastal LRR, sweeping lands with fertile soil and fields of grain as far as the eye can see. This will prevent any harm coming from your settlement on mars, and you will be given pretty much soverigenty over your lands, except for LRR farmers already in the area who will be LRR citizens.

"We have taken much into regard, Underking Nerevar. You want to ask why we build-up our defenses? A nation without defenses is a nation of peasents. Nerevar. Besides, we're protecting ourselves from our enemies and from those who would take advantage of our situation, such as your oh so noble Bajoni Bloc. Illegally claimed land you say? My ancestors came to Mars before the Northern Ice Cap was melted and before you formed your Bajoni Bloc. We haven't been here a long time, but we have been here for more than a hundred years and are entitled to some land. Would you rather I return to the ex-Confedracy and fight? Or go join those who live in other nations, where there will most likely be more trouble.

"Mister Nerevar, you see, Freedom is quite a precious thing, something you imperialists might not understand. And Eternal Vigilence is the price of Freedom. We must protect ourselves or die. Now don't interefere in affairs that are not yours, you who turn your back on your cousins. but you are not the only one who caused this current situation by inactivity.

OOC: Where's your new country Quin? This is rather important you know. Also, it's rather bad form to begin building spaceships at the rate you seem to be doing right now, I'd keep it a small fleet of probably 30 ragtag ships or so, if that. Getting a full fleet after such a short time of announcing your nation's existence is bad form.
IC:
"New ArAreBee supports the Toran Empire in their attempt to build a civilized nationstate. As for their so called unfitness for nationhood, last I checked we had this thing called national sovereignty. The Martian Confederacy was destroyed for interfering in a war that they had no place in, and not bowing to the demands of a superior foe. Stupid yes, but that's no reason to interfere with their attempt to form a new nation."

"Since you seem to be so frightened of the Toran Empire, and they seem to be so dedicated to peace, I propose a disarmament treaty. A show of good faith for all involved parties. If you don't want to, well I suppose a non-aggression pact, or something would suffice."

Na-Emperor Ra Tora looked out of a hole which was a window. He looked out at the red mud-brick houses, seeing only one or two metallic gleams in the mile long line of sight he had to the end of the dome. He looked down towards the royal 'gardens', he could see five or six flower beds, filled with daises and tulips. He then spotted a fountain.

A fountain! What a wondrous thing it is here amongst all this poverty...

Mars City was the largest dome in the entirety of the Toran Empire, and its diameter was a mere mile. Several hundred thousand people lived above the ground with a posible million and a half living in a dark and sinister world below.

Most of the people who lived above ground lived in family compounds with extended family, usually extending out to 4th cousins or cousins of cousins. It was easier this way, because it allowed the family to pool their resources and keep the house in good repair. These houses usually had several underground levels also, some which connected to the levels of other houses or even down to the labyrinth of tunnels that belonged to those who lived below.

There were several other cities in the Toran Empire also, though these contained usually only a few thousand people, the largest having about 12,000 above-ground inhabitants.

Small 'Dome communities' littered the Toran landscape. These 'communities' were usually constructed and run by wealthly families, and maintained by other families which worked to pay off for the land they lived on. Usually, there would be about 5 or 6 domes, not exceeding 100 meters, where the families would live and work. Most often these domes were connected by tunnels, but not always.

The more wealthly 'dome communities' had their own spacecraft, which they maintained. These spacecraft were used to collect debris or for trade. Unfortunately, some of these 'communities' were becoming militant, and because of the utter lack of an efficent police force or military, there was nothing the government could do about it.

These 'communities' would sometimes raid or attack each other and small pseudo-nations were slowly springing up throughout sections of the Toran Empire. Sometimes these militant 'communities' would attack MArtian shipping, or pay the fee to use an FTL gate and raid Terran shipping.

The people that lived in the underground levels beneath cities were some of the most horrible wretched people who dwelt on the planet Mars. Most of them lived without light, and fought for all the food or water they could find. Some sections were controlled and watched by police and military forces, but most of them were not. These levels lacked plumbing facilities, though most above-ground homes did also, and many families became seperated.

Anarchy ruled these levels, and there was pretty much a slave-trade that went on there. Warlords and rebel-rousers made their domains here, but these were not the worst-off people in the Toran Empire...

Most Torans lived outside of the domes, usually around abandoned gravships. It was a daily struggle to even get inside the gravship. The only salvation for these 'outsiders' was the stillsuit and a new invention, the nutrient injector.

The nutrient injector was attached to a service valve on the stillsuit. From there, dissovible capsules of various substances were placed in the injector. Then, the valve was opened, and the capsules were injected into the catchpokects of the stillsuit. Then when the person took a sip from the catchtube, the nutrients from the capsules flowed up the tube with the water and eventully into the person's mouth.

But there were some lucky 'outsiders.' Some were able to find working ships, or modify and repair vessels and enter space. From there, they would pay the fee to use the FTL gate and then enter Terran space. Here the oppotunities for them were endless. They could collect materials to build homes for their families, they could trade, or they could settle down on the planet. Some managed to get an FTL drive and went on to explore the solar system and beyond to find a new home.

But, for the average Toran, existence was moot. In the year that they had moved here, millions had died from starvation, disease, and war... And millions more were likely to die.
