Promising Survival Horror ( Hell on Earth OOC page)

Okay, I've been in nearly every survival horror RP in NationStates, and I have to say that Steel Butterfly's was the best. Actually, it was also the only one to end, but oh well. There's a reason I'm not putting this in International Incidents.
So I'm thinking of making my own. I am an expert on zombie movies, and survival horror in general. My recent runs through Resident Evil: Outbreak have inspired me a little. I'm pretty confident in my abilities to run an RP like this.
Okay, a few guidelines (Which will be added to):
-Keep it modern tech, super soldiers ruin these RPs. Real weapons only. Blunt objects are good.
-Make where a weapon is gotten from make sense. You won't find a shotgun in an alleyway.
-Not everyone should start with a weapon. Maybe a gun from home, or a metal pipe, or a bat or whatever. No starting with Katanas and G36 assault rifles.
-Try to RP some civilian stuck in the mess, it's more fun.
-Not all characters have to be from the RPing nation. Some could be locals.
-To make it more interesting, cat people and elves are allowed. So are any other races, just clear it with me.
-If you have a military person, you better have a good reason for it.
-Do not bring in an army. If you bring in a squad or whatever, make sure most are killed fairly quickly, leaving a survivor or two.
-Do not hijack the story, I'll be making one really soon.
-I'll be running off of the Resident Evil virus thing, nothing supernatural. Don't try to make it that way.
-Stick with the story till the end. It sucks when people drop out without reason.
There will be three groups in the story: Citizens (civies, cops, firemen, etc.), terrorists and military clean-up crews (MCUC)
Citizens are just trying to survive
Terrorists are trying to survive and don't get along well with other two
MCUCs are trying to kill everyone and everything
Anyone who wants to be a terrorist contact me so you know whats happening. Also, MCUCs are to also wait for me to initiate the military clean-up.
I don't know which nation this will be in. Real or NS. Or maybe I won't specify.
I can and will reject an entry if they don't qualify.

I'd like to join, but I'd only be able to post once or twice a day, I'm just warning, because threads have a tendancy to have a page added to them in posts between my posts.

They're trained specifically to battle the animated dead, undead, demonic, and supernatural.
However, they mainly use a Shaolin Spade (that's right, a garden tool invented by the Shaolin Monkhood of Mt. Song) and Ruger Mini-30 Carbine (A semi-automatic hunting weapon). They are all psychic to various degrees, though that's mostly in the area of telekinesis (grabbing, pushing, leaping).
What happened in the Iterano thread was that they were working with (actually one of them took control of the leader's mind) the local military to seal the city, and then they taught the local military how to deal with the threat responsibly so they could take care of it themselves.
With only half the team, (and probably no Chopper), their resources will be cut thin.
They are fully concentrated on the ideals of stopping Solanum-outbreaks. There's only 36 Monks left in the world since Byzantium disappeared.

http://img.atpictures.com/gary/tn_gary87.jpg
Name: Sam Thoranda
Age: 41
Bio: Sam was born in Invalessco one of Tappee’s many major cities, to a rich family. At the age of 18 he attended Tappee University and earned a dual degree in both electronic and economics. After graduation he worked for his fathers company’s Thoranda Inc, a company that specializes in electronic hardware, at the age of 26 he conduct a hostile take over from his father taking full control of the company becoming one of the youngest CEO’s in Tappee. Once assuming control of Thoranda Inc he changed the direction the company took, moving from the civilian sector, to the military, designing hardware for the army. With the government of Tappee seizing control of NiMbus technology assets, which also happened to Thoranda Inc main competitor, Thoranda Inc has quickly become the largest Corporation in Tappee.
The middle-class Mumphrey family from Altstadt, Ineptia, will be vacationing in the affected zone at the time in question, unfortunately. Members of the family are:

Name: Layla Jenae.
Layla is a Half-Elf, so she possesses some of the qualities of both Humans and Elves. She is not as tall as a full-blooded Elf, but she is taller than the average Human is. She is also very agile, and very fast. Far beyond the capabilities of a full-blooded Human, but just not quite to the level of an Elf. She stands at a straight 5’11, and weighs in at a level 145 lbs. Her hair goes down to her shoulders, and is Silver-Blonde in color. Her eyes are Silver-Gray, and seem to be able to pierce into the very core of your soul. Her current profession is fighting fires, and she is revered for her skills as a Firefighter. One of the things she is particularly famous for is her ability to reduce a door to rubble in seconds with an ax. Another is her ability to navigate in chaotic areas, such as rooms filled with smoke, flames, flashing lights, and all that good stuff.
Magnus Valerius
25-04-2004, 05:12
Hey, can I participate in the RP? I've already got a character in mind. :)
EDIT: Here he is.
Rainier Piers du Chamberry
Age: 26
Birthplace: Charleroi, East Nice, Magnus Valerius, Valerian Empire
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 163 lbs.
Blood Type: O+
Hair: Light Blue
Eyes: Violet
Occupation: Budding Overseas Entrepreneur
Former Occupations: College Student, Sharpshooter in the Valerian Palatinate Guard
Manner: Reserved, Cautious, Confident
Skills: Sniper Rifles, Rifles, Saber
Starting Weapons: Briefcase, Broken Saber
Rainier is a quiet fellow whose hair and eyes were graced with the recessive genes in the Valerian stock. He was madly in love with Countess Tina du Charleroi, but after he finished college, Rainier decided to make a name for himself in order for his love interest to take notice. He quit his job in the military (being ranked as one of the best sharpshooters in his regiment), and ventured out into the world; Valeria was technologically backwards, but Rainier adapted to the modern anemities that existed elsewhere. His Welsh Corgi, Stroganoff, accompanies him on his trips. Little did Rainier know that the area that he had decided to visit recently was to suffer from something... unusual. And so, he begins in the affected zone in the apartment he had rented for one month while he checked business opportunities in the area.

Idea post. Since I don't really "know" about this nation's military, I'm playing by ear. SigOc, could you give me some feedback on this?
Also, what's the name of this nation and city? It would help. :D
First Lieutenant Thomas Drevol leaned back into the passenger seat of the High Mobility Multi-Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), commonly called the Humvee. The reinforced vehicle bounced and jolted, despite the driver’s best efforts. Drevol pushed his silver reflective sunglasses back up his nose and glanced behind him. In the back, three more soldiers waited, including Sgt. Cortez on the M2 “Ma-Deuce” machine gun. Behind the Humvee, partially obscured by a dust cloud, two more Humvees and three "Deuce and a Half" trucks rolled along, filled with more of Drevol’s unit.
Drevol glanced at his uniform for a moment, observing the urban digital camouflage, all grays. The army wasn’t issued this uniform, nor to any other branch of the service. Should someone find his uniform, they would wonder who he worked for, because none of the nation’s forces used his outfit. They would wonder more when they could not find his dog tags, nor a flag or any identification at all! The only two pieces of cloth he wore on his uniform were his silver LT bars and his single unit patch on the left shoulder. Even this unit patch was an enigma, a single blue starburst on a black field. No unit used that patch, or so the records said.
That unit was called “Shrike”, and he was leader of Shrike Team Five, under Major Fairbanks. Shrike Teams were not real. Shrike Teams did not exist. Shrike Teams were denied by every level of the government. Shrike Teams were the most reliable force the military had. They were chosen from the Special Forces, not so much for skill (which was expected), but for they’re undying loyalty and willing to go any length for the government. As such, Shrike Teams were the favorite tool for “wet works”, dirty black ops that needed to happen off the radar and off the budgets.
Their uses were plentiful. When a powerful leader was suddenly killed by his own men, a Shrike Team was nearby. When the nation’s enemies were suddenly torn apart by civil war, Shrike Teams were instigating the violence. When drug lords met gruesome ends, the bullet came from a Shrike. When rebel groups were violently exterminated, Shrike Teams were the trigger men. Had they been in a less civilized nation, they simply would have been called “Death Squads”, but this was a modern, sophisticated society. Still, the wet work had to happen; it just couldn’t be seen… Shrikes were the perfect solution. Cover-ups, assassinations, blackmail, terrorism, intimidation, and extermination were their specialties, and they performed their silent duty with cold professionalism. They did not enjoy their work, for they were civilized soldiers, but they knew it must be done. They were the sacrifice, who would stain their hands with blood to protect their nation. They would bear the burden of their acts so others could sleep in peace. No cost was too high, no sacrifice too great, no act too wrong. They would gladly commit any mission without complaint, completing depraved objectives without qualm, and if caught, dying without acknowledgement or ceremony.
…I am the one who bears the burden, who makes the sacrifice. I will do what must be done. I will walk in darkness so you may have the light… Drevol heard the creed echoing in his mind. That was his mantra, and he clung to it with each pull of the trigger. He knew he was damned for his crimes, and that the society he protected would loathe him if they knew. Fifty-four. The number was too clear, the number of men, women, and children he had killed. The images of the Congo flashed back to him. The Mubatu Rebels had risen up against the INSERT supported government, and threatened the oil trade. To make a point, Shrike Team Five had slipped in and executed two villages of the Mubatu civilians. We lined them up and shot them with AK-47s, so the scene looked right. Then we torched the bodies and left a message in the rubble to halt the rebellion. It had worked, and the oil trade resumed, with barely a flux in prices. He had been in bush wars in Asia, supporting one dictator over another. He had been inside of the crackdowns in South America, keeping the socialist poor under control. He had been inside of the alleys of eastern Europe, giving a knife in the back of a “bad” politician to favor a “good” one. At each step, he had reminded himself of the creed. I will walk in darkness so you may have the light.
Few knew of the Shrike Teams, and none would acknowledge it. Only the Team Members, their direct superiors in SOCOM, and a few scattered Special Forces members knew of their existence. Those in the Teams and retired were bound by Oath to secrecy, and they had been chosen for their ability to keep that oath. Those over them were often from the Teams, and gave the orders. Only those able to understand the need for the Shrikes would ever learn of the Shrikes, which left few in the civilian government barring the Intelligence Chief and the Secretary of Defense. The others that knew were those unfortunate SpecForce Units left holding the ball when the Shrikes went to work. Of those, there were two groups: those who understood and respected the Shrikes, and those who viewed them as some sort of baseless relative. Of the latter, they did not speak out of duty, not out of approval. In the end, the Shrikes were little more than a rumor amid the grunt soldiers, and a whisper in the intelligence community. Conspiracy theories touched on their existence, but the Shrikes fed out disinformation to those theorists, and the conflicting accounts only discredited the theories.
Accordingly, the Shrikes were not outfitted by the military proper, but pieced together by black budgets and over-expenditures. While the normal military preferred the Colt M16 line of rifles and carbines, the Shrikes used a mix of black market H&K weapons without serials. In his Team alone, Drevol could point to G11, AG36, UMP, MP7 PDW, MSG-1, CAWS, and other exotic weapons chosen by necessity. Only the best for our best. Drevol was from the Army Special Forces, himself, and at thirty-three, he was old for a lieutenant. However, he had earned every bit of rank, coming through enlisted ranks and Officers Candidate School. I will walk in darkness so you may have the light. He touched the starburst insignia, then let his hand drift to his silver bars.
He was a bachelor by design, for he had no identity outside of the Shrikes. Family would make him a liability. There’s simply no room for that kind of weakness. He told himself again, but he knew there was more. I could not face a wife and children, not after my work. What does Daddy do? He is a killer. He is a butcher. He bit back a sneer and dropped his mask into place again. This was his duty. I will walk in darkness so you may have the light.
The trees were rushing past, one after another, with the sunlight flashing through the leaves in beams of light and curtains of darkness. His silver flash-glasses flickered in the light, reflecting the surroundings perfectly, but never allowing even the slightest hint of the eyes behind. He tapped the mic hanging from his Kevlar helmet, and patted the speaker location on his left ear. “Keep your eyes peeled.” He ordered into the mic.
“Roger that.” Sgt. Cortez replied, standing behind the Ma Deuce, gripping the dual pistol grips tightly.
Drevol reviewed what he knew of his mission thus far. Terrorists triggered a chemical spill, some sort of nerve agent. Real nasty shit, too. The army SpecForce boys are locking down the perimeter, to keep anyone from entering the contaminated zone. We are to go in and investigate the area, recover the research, and “clean house”. The terrorists must be eliminated, and the area sanitized. When we’re done, this is to look like a civilian disaster. Anyone inside is already dead. The Humvee was beginning to slow, and the driver glanced over. “Checkpoint.”
Ahead, there was a concertina wire fence and a small gate. Two soldiers in gas masks were leveling their M4 SOPMODS, and an officer, also in a mask, was advancing on Drevol’s Humvee. Drevol rolled down the window and saluted the Captain. The officer returned it and nodded. Drevol handed over his orders. The Captain glanced at them and began to speak, his voice muffled by the mask, his breath coming in clicks and wheezes. “Welcome to the Hot Zone, Lt. Drevol. We’ve been waiting. Have your boys mask up. The agent may still be airborne inside the perimeter.”
Drevol nodded and tapped his mic. “Suit up.” Throughout the small convoy, Team Five pulled their gas masks on and tightened them down. Drevol placed his hand on the filter and breathed hard into the mask, cleaning the intake. Then he switched and cleaned the exhaust with another puff of breath. He turned back to the Captain. “Sir, what’s the SitRep?”
The Captain glanced warily back over his shoulder, towards the town. “Silent. The terrorists are bunkered in, or dead. We’re letting you deal with that.”
Drevol tensed at the way the Captain had stated that. Another one of these holier than though pricks. They forget that back alley knifings are just as important as grand jousts. He replied, “Sir, we’ll take care of it.”
The Captain glanced back again. “Be careful, Lieutenant. The animals have been acting odd lately.”
Drevol tipped his head at the Captain’s change in attitude. “Strange?” he asked.
“They’re very sick with something, perhaps to do with the agent release. They’re behaving rabidly, but they’re encumbered by their own failing bodies. I think they’ve lost pain senses, because we had some wild dog take about ten five-five-six rounds to go down.” The Captain was hiding something, but he said no more. “Anyway, you’re clear. Go ahead. Major Fairbanks is waiting at the interior perimeter.”
The guards lowered their rifles, and pulled apart the gate. The convoy proceeded through, and Cortez commented from the turret, “Sir, they seemed mighty scared of something.”
Drevol nodded. “Agreed, Sarge. And that’s a pretty light perimeter to keep people out. There’s supposed to be over five hundred men in here. Where are the rest?” He suddenly fell silent as they passed a group of soldiers, standing around a pit. The five soldiers each carried a backpack, with a small tube leading to a nozzle of sorts. All five were turned into the pit, and lances of fire flooded into that hole. Drevol glanced back at Cortez, the flames flashing in his sunglasses. There was a crackling in the air, and a sickly sweet smell drifted through even the gas mask’s filters. Drevol knew that smell all too well. They’re burning bodies.
“Sir?” Cortez started.
Drevol’s helmet crackled. “This is Second Lt. Dart. What the hell was that for, sir?”
Drevol answered on open channel, to the entire unit. “I don’t know, but it’s not good. Keep your eyes open, and guns loaded.”
He glanced back at Cortez, who shook his head. “Don’t like this, sir.”
“Me either. Keep the Ma Deuce ready.”
“Aye, sir.” The bolt racked on the .50 caliber machine gun.
Drevol could still hear the crackling fires. He pulled the charging handle of his AG36 assault rifle and watched the suddenly forbidding forest more closely. I will walk in darkness so you may have the light.

Please, stay through to the end. This will end.

I'm gonna severly limit their weapons through RPing zombies knocking them away and stuff. Force them to use pipes and brooms and things of that matter. They'll have to RP finding new weapons. It's fun to RP someone who has a chance to die.

I wasn't attacking anyone. Sorry if it came off that way. And btw, my military character is there because he is less of a "survivor" and more of an obstacle to the rest. (Think Mercenaries in Nemesis.)

I'm trying to answer for Sigma, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe ALL comms are jammed.
That includes (especially) wireless internet. Land lines are cut, and radio and cell waves are jammed, and even satellites are blanketted. The only unjammed frequency is the coded military band (which needs a military radio AND the cypher).
Also, Sigma, can I enter another character? He's another survivor that I think I can do some work with, but I'll probably have him leave the RP early (one way or another). I have three reasons:
1.)So I can keep posting while Lt. Drevol is waiting on Gehenna Tartarus to reply.
2.)A cool idea I had (AIM me and I'll talk about it)
3.)To add diversity
EDIT: I went ahead and made the post with the "new" character. I talked about him earlier, during the botched raid on the Biolabs.

People! We have an OOC and an IC thread! I'm not trying to overstep my "player" status, but come on! Put only IC in the IC thread, and only OOC in the OOC. Hey, Sigma? Are you playing by Resident Evil or Dawn of the Dead Version 2.0 rules on the creation of zombies?
Resident Evil: If bitten, you are infected. When you die otherwise, you come back after several hours as a zombie, unless cured while alive.
Dawn of the Dead: If bitten, infection kills you within 3 hours by itself, and you come back in seconds as a zombie.
Which one, for reference?

I never said we were going to the University, it was simply a suggestion, Also, isn't the University/Library where those Marine people are? Where they found the armoured rat goopy mutant thing? I may be a little confused. All I'm posting is the thing destroying the building, and us leaving, I'm gonna let someone else decide where we're going to go.
Sigma Octavus
16-05-2004, 06:44
Okay. In the police handbook, it labels the campus as the gather point in case of emergency. People went there, but they all died. The marines and my armor rat are also there. As far as everyone knows, it is still the safest place. All cops would know this, but only a few civilians would have, because they never read anything posted in the post office or anywhere else.
Interesting giant snake thingie.
Now back to Final Fantasy 8 before I get caught on the comp........

16-05-2004, 14:39
Yeah, the reason My guy had the idea to go to the University because although everyone else is either visiting or traveling through the town, Donny actually lived in the town before this. And in his later times contantly being drunk, and being thrown in the drunk tank, he has had plenty of time to read up on various police references.
Mercenary Soldiers
16-05-2004, 18:48
OOC: There's a cop in a Crown Victoria with flashing lights & sirens roaming the city. He's currently near the fortified apartment building, but has decided to steer clear of the university because the infection has probably spread like wildfire through the gathered masses who hoped to find refuge there.
It's a similar scenario to the military base mentioned in the second Dawn of the Dead movie. I thought it was a bit scarier because the zombies chased your ass down. Regular zombies just shamble about & are only deadly in large groups. It's like getting killed by a mudslide, which only travels at about five miles an hour.
