Nanakaland Proudly Presents
The First Biannual
Nanakaland International Chess Tournament
Sign Up Thread
Have you noticed that there is no good chess RP? Well, this is one. What will revolutionize this RP is that the RP will be semi-real. There will really be chess games played via chess notation over the internet. The background will be fake and the actual games will be real.

In Nanakapolis, the best chess players throughout the world come together for the most glorious chess tournament in NationStates. Each nation that enters the Nanakaland International Chess Tournament (NICT) sends the two best nations in their country to Nanakapolis for the month-long competition.

Throughout their stay in Nanakapolis, they will play in matches. At first, they are divided into Groups A, B, C, and D. Each person plays another person in their group. In the end, the people with the most wins and the second most wins move on to the next stage. The eight then play each other in a tournament ladder until they get to the final match. The final winner gets the NICT Award and 4.5 million USD.

[OOC: Any questions?]

The Progressans universally suck. (Because OOCly, I suck.) And I'm not so sure about the notation either.

Great idea though, RPing real chess games - I'll tag this one, try and make a decision on sign up and encourage others who would be interested and good :)

Additional Fact 1: There'd also be an interesting back story to the RP.
Additional Fact 2: When I say bianual, I mean two times an RL year. That means one in May and one in November every year.
Additional Fact 3: I would give a quick overview of chess notation for those who don't know it.
Additional Fact 4: I'd either have the chess matches in a different thread or on off-site forums. If done on off-site threads, I'd put the results in the main RP thread which would be at the NationStates forums.

Here are my participants... You might want some guards in on the competition, cause one of my chess players tends to get crazy when he plays... He's been known to rip the head off of his opponents when they lose...

Acturion Crusade--nephew of the king, known for his ability to play four games at the same time and still win...
Zefud Rolard--psychopath, but brilliant chess player
Rapir Sheridan--former colonel in the military, retired and became a crazy chess player able to remember all the moves... Some people have termed him the Human Computer...
