Nanakaland Proudly Presents
The Dramatic RP
Man of the Skull
Mankana Gan's Story
[Continued from here (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=124296).]

Agent Skull left the Illuminati building disgusted. The idea failed. No one was even talking anymore. He tore off his mask and went to the airport. He immediately went to Nanakaland. He took off his fake voicebox, which generated a different voice than his true voice, and went to get some plasic surgery. No more Marc Brown, he thought. The Sanctese will be mad at the disappearance of the Nanakan ambassador, but who cares. I'll change my allias again and move to a different place.

It was then that the thought hit him. I am truely Mankana Gan. Why do I even need to disguise? Soon Nanakaland will be mine! Skull then repressed his memory. He hated his past and he tried to escape from it. He had once run for President of Nanakaland. He was the only one who ever came close to beating President Michael Smith in an election. After losing, Mankana Gan had started a rebellion. He had almost won, but he was "fatally" wounded. Really, Gan had escaped to the Nanakan Highlands where he got plastic surgury and changed his identity.

That was the start of his new life, his life as Agent Skull. He had gone by many different alliases and had never went by Mankana Gan. His friends called him Agent Skull. Skull was the name he liked. In fact, since his life as Mankana Gan, Skull had changed drastically. Skull still wanted Nanakaland, but he didn't want it by fair elections. He wanted to take over Nanakaland by force. He would then want to rule as a totalitarian government and get revenge on all those who were the result of his failure.

To do this, Agent Skull had lived in the underground. He did missions for other people to gain money and support. Recently, he had switched his pattern. Afterwards, skull had worked for various governments under various alliases. He thought that with the Illuminati, he could then proceed to take over Nanakaland. However, the Illuminati idea failed. Skull lost patience and was now going to try to take over Nanakaland his own way....

[OOC: I'm not going to lose such a great character that was developed majorly in a failed RP.]

Nanakapolis International Hotel, Two Days Later
Skull had successfully changed his public alias. He knew that after "Marc Brown," he'd change it to "William" something. However, it took him a lot of thinking (and seeing someone on a cell phone) until he came up with a last name. Skull was going as "William Ericson," a Sanctan tourist staying for a month in Nanakapolis. He had checked into a hotel and was now staying at an Executive Suite. All had gone well until he came back to his room and saw a note. He picked it up and read it.

[code:1:16da44530d]Meet me at the bookstore just around the corner from your hotel. It is urgent.

The Golden Nanakabird Bookstore, One Hour Later
Agent Skull walked in cautiously. It seemed too much like a trap. He had his trusty gun in his jacket pocket and a couple of more defensive tricks ready - just in case. Skull entered the bookstore's coffee shop and someone said to him, "I'm Bill."

"Who are you really and what do you want?" asked Skull.

"Who are you?" Bill asked.

"William Ericson," replied Agent Skull.

"Wrong," said Bill. "You're Mankana Gan, but you prefer to go by Agent Skull." Now Skull was getting nervous.

"Who are you?" he said in a shakey voice. "How did you -"

"I'm Baelemares," the man interruped, "but I go by Bill. I'm the Defender of Royalty."

"The what?" Agent Skull, confused, asked.

"The Defender of Royalty," explained Baelemares, "the royalty of the Nanakan Empire."

"The Nanakan Empire fell thousands of years ago," Skull replied.

"I know," he said. "However, the royal line didn't completely die off. You're the sole surviving Heir."

"The what!?" shouted Agent Skull.

"The Heir. You are the one who has the lineage and can restore the Nanakan Empire. It took me years to find you, but I have. I am the Defender of Royalty, an Elven knight hired thousands of years ago to keep the royal line of the Nanakan Empire. I have watched over every Heir secretly. You are the only one left. It is time to reclaim the throne."

"I can't be the Heir. Wasn't the Nanakan Empire ruled by a dynasty of Elven warrior kings? I'm definately not an elf. They're a sizable minority in Nanakaland, but -"

"You are. The Gan family was a family of rich barrons in the time of the Nanakan Empire. They intermarried with the Elven royalty, making the Gan family a family of distant Heirs. They escaped the Great Massacre and lived in peace in Nanakaland for over a thousand years."

"Still. If I was part elf, wouldn't I be immortal? Wouldn't my family be immortal?"

"Did you ever see your father die of old age? Your grandfather? They were all murdered by a secret sect remaining from the Rebels of the Nanakan Empire, aiming to eliminate the Heirs and stop the royal line from reclaiming the throne. You would have been murdered, too, if you didn't change your identity."

"Coincidence. I still don't believe you."

"I have proof. How old are you?"

"How old am I?" Skull replied. "I don't quite know."

"You're well over 100 and you still look youthful," explained Baelemares. "How would you explain away that?"

"Plastic surgery," said Skull.

"Really?" replied Baelemares. "Plastic surgery makes you feel youthful? Wait... Let's see... If I recall correctly, you're 147. No matter how much plastic surgery, you'd be dead by now if you were mortal. There's no other way to explain it."

Agent Skull was shocked. Maybe this guy is telling the truth, he thought.
01-05-2004, 15:57
"One thing doesn't make sense, though," Skull said to Baelemares. "Why do you go by Bill? Elves are a sizable minority and are very respected in Nanakaland. Why would you pretend to be human?"

"For the same reason you were never called an elf," explained Baelemares. "If They knew that there was a surviving Heir, like you, or that the Defender of Royalty, I, was still alive, They'd kill us immediately - just like your father and every other member of the Gan family for that matter. There was no car crash. It was murder."

"But who are They?" asked Skull.

"Didn't I already tell you?" Baelemares replied. "They are members of a secret society out to destroy the Nanakan Empire royal family. The secret society is so evil, I can't even utter its name. They cold-bloodedly murdered the royal family almost two thousand years ago. Even though the Nanakan Empire's royal family wasn't that popular in the days leading up to the Great Massicre, no one would have ever thought of killing them - no one except Them." The Defender of Royalty looked over his shoulder and said, "I must now go."

"But I have so much more to ask you!" Skull exclaimed.

"Goodbye," said Baelemares. He snapped his fingers and disappeared. Skull was left sitting at a table at the Golden Nanakabird Bookstore's cafe....
01-05-2004, 16:44
A shadowy figure stepped up to Skull and said, "Agent Skull, I have a message for you. Someone who wishes to remain anonymous wants you to retreive something - the Lost Scepter of the Nanakan Kings of Old, those who ruled the Nanakan Empire. Some rumors say that it can give magical powers to the Heir."
01-05-2004, 16:49
"Who is this anonymous person?" asked Skull. And who is this messenger? he thought. Agent Skull fingered the gun in his pocket. He wasn't going to take any chances. Maybe this guy was one of the secret society Baelemares was talking about. If he was, Skull definately wasn't going to give this Phantom Messenger, who could really be an assassin, the upper hand. Perhaps Baelemares saw this messenger coming and fled.
01-05-2004, 16:51
"I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you," the messenger replied, grinning. "You would want me to do that, would you? I think not."
01-05-2004, 16:53
"Don't worry," replied Skull. "It's amazing how much someone can tell when put under pressure." He raised his gun at the messenger and said, "How about now? Who sent you? What do you really want."
01-05-2004, 16:55
The messenger grinned, raised his hand, and laughed as the gun flew out of Skull's hand. "I have much more magic than a mere human could ever have," the Phantom Messenger explained. "You are no threat to me, mortal. But, if you really want to know, I'll tell you who sent me. He's Lord Malus and you probably have never heard of him. Just tell me, will you go on the quest?"
01-05-2004, 16:57
This guy doesn't even know that I'm part elf, thought Agent Skull. Perhaps I should play along. In the end, I can keep the scepter for myself and use it to take over Nanakaland. After all, I'm the Heir. Holding back a grin, Skull said, "Sure. I'll go on your little quest. Just tell me when it starts."
01-05-2004, 16:59
"It starts as soon as the other members of the quest join," explained the Phantom Messenger, "which is probably tomorrow or the day after. When I come back, I'll lead you to the starting location of the quest." With that, he vanished, teleporting himself to the location of the next member of the quest.
01-05-2004, 17:03
Agent Skull was a bit disappointed when the Phantom Messenger disappeared. Come on, he thought. When will I ever run into someone who doesn't vanish at the end of a conversation? Skull returned to his hotel room, his head buzzing with thoughts from the two previous conversations.

[OOC: Here's where the rest of the RP comes in. I'll invite people to play in this Modern Tech / Fantasy RP. The Phantom Messenger will talk to each person separately. Once the group is large enough, I'll start the quest. Don't be afraid to have your character die and please make your character a rebel to your government in one way or another. That way, the plot will be interesting.]

The Underground Fort Control Center
Lord Malus sat on his chair looking into the crystal ball in front of him. All had gone according to plan. The Phantom Messenger may have not know that Agent Skull was the Heir, but Lord Malus did. Malus himself wanted to destroy the Heir. He had tricked Skull into going on a suicidal quest. If Skull lived long enough to get the scepter, which was highly unlikely, Malus'd kill Skull and smash the scepter, ending every trace of the Nanakan Empire.

Baelemares was stupider than I thought, revealing himself and Agent Skull in a public place, Lord Malus thought. Now I'll have them both killed. I just have to trick the other people into joining the quest, too. Malus then telepathically gave coordinates of the next location to the Phantom Messenger. All was going according to plan and Lord Malus couldn't stop laughing evily....

Nanakapolis International Hotel, That Night
As if Agent Skull's wish for information came true, he found a book on his bed as he returned to his hotel room. It was entitled The History of the Nanakan Empire. The book was written by Bill Carson. Attached to the book was a note.

[code:1:3352ff8d23]Sorry I couldn't stay around to answer some of your questions. I hope this book I have can.

- Bill[/code:1:3352ff8d23]

On the back of the book, there was a hastilly written geonology.

Mankana Gan is the son of Alexi Gan, the son of Robert Gan, the son of William Gan, the son of John Gan, the son of Maximus Gan, who is the survivor of the Great Massicre who fled to Rome, the son of Aaron Gan, the son of Kymah, a prince of the Nanakan Empire. All other heirs have died out either by natural or unnatural causes. Mankana Gan is the only one left.

[OOC: Just a little filler as I await for people to join. I'll do excerpts throught the RP and future RPs.]

Jason took a deep puff from his cigarette, burning over 1/3 of it in that one breath. He exhaled, then threw it to the forest floor. He crushed it underneath his boot, then move on, cradling his modified GALATZ straight from the Syntec Corporation. Those fools would sell anything to anybody without a criminal record.
He had to leave SAVX, though. The damn government had eyes and spies everywhere. He couldn't continue his operations there...he'd have to settle for this for the time being: Nanakaland. Today, a senator was going to die.

Jason crept through the forest. There was a light mist enveloping the landscape. It was early morning, and a tad chilly. For Jason, though, it couldn't have been more perfect. The weather was perfect for his mission.

He came upon the edge of the property. The trees abruptly stopped to make way for a clearing. About two hundred feet away was the vacation mansion of his target. He had a perfect view of a group of windows. He peered in with his binoculars. He found what appeared to be a bathroom...perfect. It was still 5:30, so it would be a good deal of time before the senator woke up to take a shower; that would be just fine for Jason. He crouched behind a tree and spent about ten minutes getting into a position so that he would be perfectly comfortable and have an unwavering view of the bathroom.

He waited.

The Phantom Messenger showed up without warning. He appeared near the home of a Nanakan senator. I hope Lord Malus sent me to the right location, thought the messenger. I can't imagine a senator being one Malus wants on the Quest. It was then that he heard something. Stealthily, he vanished into the shadows and glanced over to where the noise was. There was a man crouched behind a tree.

Who is he? thought the messenger. I need to know his name to adress him.

His name is Jason Burgowitz, replied Lord Malus telepathically. He is the one you are looking for - the next member of the Quest.

Should I address him directly? asked the Phantom Messenger through his thoughts.

No, Lord Malus said telepathically. Spook him first. The Phantom Messenger knew what to do....

07-05-2004, 04:27
Jason's heart skipped. Did he hear something creeping through the bushes? No...unless the senator had suddenly changed his living style, there wouldn't be any guards outside right now. It was nothing. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Nothing. Nothing at all." It was about 6:25, according to the watch strapped onto his GALATZ. About another thirty-five minutes until the senator would awake.

That was nothing. He had at other times spent multiple days waiting for a target to show up. Without the caution or military expertise that those targets held, this man would prove to be as easy as shooting a sleeping sloth.

His mind went back to the noise he thought he heard. No, couldn't have been anything. There was no reason for anyone to be sneaking about him right now. He made sure that he was the only one who knew of his mission. However, Jason was one to never throw caution to the wind. He unholstered his Gauss pistol, straight from the SAVX SOF armories. If he had to fire it, it wouldn't make any sounds loud enough to alert anyone of his presence.

He set the handgun on his lap, then resumed his wait, constantly watching the bathroom window.
08-05-2004, 02:30
Lord Malus had told the messenger to spook Jason. So far, Jason had been put on alert, but not frightened. It was then that the Phantom Messenger had an idea. He started laughing - laughing in his mind, telepathically sending laughs to Jason, a mere mortal. Naturally, it would spook him.

Now, Lord Malus said telephathically to the messenger. Now is the time to talk to him. I sense his fear - the fear of the unknown. The Phantom Messenger stepped out of the shadows, but he still looked like he was in the shadows because he was a shadowy creature.

"Hello mortal," the Phantom Messenger said to Jason. "I must tell you something - something very important."

I can sense his fear and surprise, communicated Lord Malus. You're doing fine. Now tell him about the Quest.

"What the hell?" Jason pulled back behind the tree. Had he been found out? This couldn't be right. He was the only one that knew! He quickly strapped his rifle to his back and crawled forward, Gauss Pistol ready. He was going to finish his mission, regardless of whatever fool who thought they could stop him would do.

Yet...the voice hadn't been particularly menacing. Nothing like what an enemy would say in this case. Whatever it was had called him a "mortal," not something that one person would usually call another unless they had mental issues. What the hell was going on?
09-05-2004, 05:47
"You have been summoned for the Quest," explained the Phantom Messenger, "the Quest for the Lost Scepter of the Nanakan Kings of Old. Only the Heir of the Nanakan Empire can use it, but my boss has some... well... um... other use for it." The messenger grinned, but no one would be able to tell. The dark cloak he always wore and the shadowy face he had would have prevented anyone from seeing almost any feature of the Phantom Messenger besides "dark" or "shadowy," two adjectives often used to describe him by those lucky enough to see him and survive. The messenger took a breath and said, "Do you accept the challenge? If your team finds the scepter and gives it to my boss or me, I'd of course reward you greatly." The Phantom Messenger handed Jason a solid gold bar saying, "Just a sample of the rooms full of treasure the Underground Fort has."

Jason glanced around for the source of the voice while he listened, but was at a loss to find anything. Then the gold bar appeared in front of him. He decided he'd play along and see where this went. Maybe it would be worth looking into. He spoke into the woods.

"Your offer is tempting. How do I know that you'll stick to your word? And will I be allowed to finish the current...mission I am on?"
09-05-2004, 22:59
"I myself am only a messenger," the Phantom Messenger replied, "a messenger of the shadows who only delivers messages. However, I will give you this," the messenger handed Jason a shiney pebble no larger than a penny. "It may come in handy later in the Quest. If I go back on my word, then you keep the Stone. If I stick to my word, then you return the Stone. As for your mission, I'll come back for you tomorrow or the day after for the Quest, when everyone else has been summoned, so you have pleanty of time to finish what you're doing."

[OOC: The Stone has magical powers, if you haven't already guessed. As of now, however, it's as mysterious as the Stone's owner.]

The senator BUMPed his head while sleeping, but he quickly turned over and fell back to sleep.
