Pre-World Cup 14 RP Thread

OOC:

Go ahead and post the lead-in RPs to World Cup 14 here -- be it player changes or squad changes, or anything else you can think of. I bet you're all ready to get RPing again with World Cup 13 in it's last days. We know full well 94 of the 102 participants are no longer in the Cup, and are ready to get movin' on the next World Cup to be held in the Emerald Heights.

BUREAUCRATIC STATES FA & KINGSFORD FA PRESS RELEASE

Oglethorpia and Kingsford are proud to be selected by the World Cup Commitee as hosts of the 14th iteration of the World Cup. The two regional neighbors are fully committed to ensuring that the Cup will run as smoothly as possible, having taken every consideration. The Bureaucratic States [of Oglethorpia] and the Holy Republic [of Kingsford] are pleased to bring the Cup to the Emerald Heights for the first time in the region's history.

World Cup 14 in Oglethorpia & Kingsford will mark the first time the Cup proper will have came to Oglethorpia in twenty-four years -- and thirty-two to Kingsford, though the two nations were not neighbors in the pre-WC12 days.

The road to World Cup 14 will begin with the selection of a corporate sponsor -- a tradition which seemed to die out following the conclusion of World Cup 7. Oglethorpia and Kingsford will make the selection jointly, based on the quality of the sponsor's bid.

Once again, Oglethorpia and Kingsford look forward to running a prosperous World Cup 14.

World Cup 14 sponsor search continues
Will the WC14 corporate sponsor be selected in time?

By Bill Christmas

THE EMERALD HEIGHTS (BT) -- The search for World Cup 14's corporate sponsor continues (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3073150#3073150) -- while the requirements asked of bidding corporations have changed following the initial announcement. (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3078467#3078467) Officials from Kingsford and the Bureaucratic States hope that bidding companies will rise in quantity as time goes on, so that the World Cup 14 corporate sponsor may be chosen on a suitable time scale.

"We're not worried," said Bureaucratic States Football Association President Mel Green. "The World Cup 14 corporate host will be a fine corporation and will be chosen in a reasonable span of time. No one need worry themselves."

"What he said," commented John Lavalais, the President of the Kingsford Football Association.

Both officials from the host nations of Oglethorpia and Kingsford were quick to deny allegations that the World Cup 14 host search was hurrily stagnating, and put off speculation that a corporate sponsor may not even be chosen at all.

"We've got companies bidding," affirmed B.S. Football Association President Mel Green, "and they will be chosen in time for World Cup 14. As I said before, no one needs to worry about anything."

"Yeah, what he said," added John Lavalais of the Kingsford F.A. "World Cup 14 will have the most outstanding corporate sponsor of all those bidding on the prestigious position of having their name associated with the 14th iteration of the Cup."

And a few guidelines that the host nations plan to follow throughout the Cup:

GUIDELINES
RP BONUS
A. based on a yes/no system of application, rank bonus equal to 1/8 of your current rank. World Cup 14 qualifying matchday 1-3 RP bonuses will be determined by RPs here OR by posting a roster in the WC14 roster thread* (the link can be found above.) Doing both will not result in a bigger RP bonus -- it's this or this, essentially. You either get a bonus or not -- and to accomplish earning a bonus, you RP here or post a roster in the World Cup roster threads.

B. Matchdays 1-3 bonuses will be determined by RP (or by posting a roster) before those 3 matchdays take place. Hence, the RP bonus for matchdays 4-6 will be based on RP during matchdays 1-3 -- essentially meaning that the last three matchdays do not require RP, though it is encouraged. A further explanation on how the RPing bonus will be applied to score generation can be found here. (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3030323#3030323)

ROSTERS -- the roster thread can be found here. (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3077618#3077618) Your opponents in World Cup 14 will appriciate it if you post a roster. Please do, if you want to RP. The relationship between posting a roster and RP bonus is outlined in the above section titled "RP Bonus."

SCHEDULE -- World Cup 14 is planned to begin three days after the conclusion of World Cup 13. Group draws will be announced following the end of World Cup 13, and a day after that, qualifying matchday 1 will take place, 1 matchday per real-life day.

SCORE DISSEMINATION -- Qualifying scores will be posted in a World Cup 14 scores thread, to be drawn up when the group draws are made. Two days later, qualifying matchday 1 scores will be posted in the scores thread. First round matches and beyond will be telegrammed to the participating nations and posted for all to behold a day later, regardless if the match has been RPed or not.

---

With that, let the pre-World Cup 14 continue while the eight remaining sides battle it out in the World Cup 13 semi-finals. There are 94 nations that are no longer in it, so i'm sure a fair deal of RPing will go on in this thread while World Cup 13 draws nearer to it's conclusion.

Finally, if you have any questions concerning World Cup 14 -- post here, or TG Oglethorpia or Kingsford.

And ONE LAST MESSAGE.

Due to improper forum management attributable to unknown assailants and anti-do-gooders, deleting posts wreaks more havok as opposed to fixing any error.

Contrary to popular belief, edited posts to make them read "double/triple/quadruple/sextuple post" are more acceptable than loading a forum page only to read that it contains no posts, because someone deleted their multiple postings. Especially considering the sorry state that the forums are in now, it turns out to be a bigger inconvinience when you delete posts causing the creation of phantom pages -- in short, leave your double posts. Edit them when you can.

SAY NO TO PHANTOM POSTS -- DON'T DELETE YOUR DOUBLE POSTS!

You too can stop forest fir- phantom thread pages.

Here's a classic example of how to deal with a double post. Simply erase the content of your original post and place a short message explaining your boobery as to why you Submitted twice. The easiest way to do this is by simply typing:

Double post.

However, some people prefer to be slighty more creative and come up with longer slogans, such as this:

Felt so nice, I did it twice.

Joao Cannon Quits Football

The phone rings within the confines of Joao Cannon's fastidious bachelor's pad. He makes his way over the throw pillows on the floor, sit on his seafoam green barstool, and picks up the phone lying beside the scented candles.

Joao: Hello.

Cosmo: Hey Joao, it's me, Horatio Cosmo. I was wondering if you wanted to be on the World Cup 14 team.

Joao: I'm sick of football!

Cosmo: What? Since when?

Joao: I'm not going to play any more!

Cosmo: What do you mean?

Joao: I mean, I'm quitting football. And I'm going to make it on broadway!

Cosmo: What about your contract with the Wurthington Wanderers? Haven't you thought about that.

Joao: The Zucchini Premier League pays very well, I can live off interest. Besides, I'm going to honour the end of my contract and start singing showtunes concurrently as I play.

Cosmo: So having you on the Chili Bats is an absolute no then?

Joao: Uh huh. I'm free now. Free as a bird!

Cosmo: Alright then, best of luck at your singing career.

Joao *In Song*: There's no business, like SHOW business!...

Dr. Cosmo shakes his head and wonders how Joao became such a whack job. Maybe Joao didn't have the guts, the desire or the je-ne-sais-quoi to make it in football. Maybe the rigid program he was put through as a child was just too much for him and he reached his breaking point. Maybe he just wanted a doll instead of a ball as a kid...

The Altos have left international football after their sensational collapse that cost them a place in the finals. The Progressans didn't get anything like that close anyway... but Progressan football may be recovering.

Young uber-talent Bilin Uru has finally emerged as a contender in the national side; also new up front is Batia Bolidae-Baek, who has made waves for promoted Storavora much as Lubbarez did for Islanders in their Premier Division debut season. His powerful shooting and imposing size, not to mention his outrageous hair, has made him a huge fan favourite at the Flatpack Arena.

Quaza Tizavaios, a defender who has learned plenty of creative play from his time at Quarua Lakeside, also gains an international callup, as does Maruniz Azilkov, known as 'Zoomkov' for his electric pace. He may replace Huqi Vaiwalo-Mua, retiring from international football, on the left wing, or may play in a more central role allowing Mowgi Taunilai - recently sold to Alan City in the biggest transfer deal in Progressan history - to occupy that role instead. This is seen by some as the most likely, allowing the Lubbarez-Weseydal partnership so destructive in the Cup of Harmony to continue. Others point out Lubbarez is aging now - he is 35 - and losing his pace, though his tactical awareness and shooting accuracy are still massive assets and he will certainly be part of the Progressan jigsaw.

Along the right wing, the retirement of Raq Failez - a name that summed up Progressan football in recent years - will probably mean Rigondo Ramatta will move from a central attacking midfield role to patrol the right wing. That will allow his old role to be filled by Azilkov or Baulinta, who is finally showing his significant promise.

Audioslavia's team manager Lee Branson is showing a few MP's round the newly-renovated Soundgardian National Arena.

Lee: Hey dudes, dudettes and duderspoons, welcome to the Soundgardian National Arena. Let me like, show you around

MP Dudette 1: Well, this is impressive, its enourmous!

Lee: Heh, hey dude your not the first lady MP to say that...

MP Dudette 1: Excuse me Mr. Branson?

Lee: Dude, thats no ordinary shattered vase, that used to be the U21 World Cup trophy!

MP Dude 1: ...'used to be'?

Lee: Yeah, Jeff Jordan dropped it and it broke a bit, its still good tho, you can still see its legs, and half of its body

MP Dude 1: What was it before?

Lee: It was ugly TnUI engineering, thats what it was before

MP Dude 2: ew... so whats the badge there for?

Lee: The one which says 'Loser' in big letters? Thats my own World Cup Finalist runners-up medal, we won that when we lost to Rejistania in the World Cup 12 final

MP Dude 1: I see... you 'won' a 'losers' medal?

Lee: Yeah, they look nicer anyway, thats the excuse Aaron gave for f*cking up his penalty kick anyway.... anyhow... moving on, if we go upstairs we'll find the executive box

MP Dudette 1: Wow, the view to the pitch is lovely

Lee: Nah dude, thats a picture of a pitch in Rejistania when we beat Squornshelous 5-4, the window is covered by that red curtain, if we go through this door we'll be able to see our own pitch

MP Dudette 1: ah... oh... its still a lovely playing fie......... i say what is that man doing?

Lee: Oh him? Thats James Reid, our main defender.... HEY! JAMES!

MP Dudette 1: But.... he's..... urinating.... on that corner of the pitch... and playing guitar....

Lee: yeah, he's supersticious like that.... HEY! JAMES!

James: YEAH?

Lee: WHATCHA DOING MAN? 'TERRITORIAL PISSINGS'?

James: NAH DUDE, IM DOING 'COME AS YOU ARE'

MP Dude 1: I'm sure....

Lee: Anyway, lets go back downstairs to the memento room

MP Dude 1: Wow... look at all these photos... Where was this one taken?

Lee: Oh, thats our World Cup 6 team against Lemmitania, we drew 1-1

MP Dude 1: Nice.. and this?

Lee: Thats us beating TnUI 1-0, i was playing in that match, see that guy? The number 2? Thats me, 28 years old, celebrating Joe scoring

MP Dude 1: Nice... and what about this one? That looks like you as well...

Lee: Yeah its me, that was taken in 1963, on a grassy knoll..... actually i probably should hide that photo

MP Dude 1: Thats you?

Lee: Yeah you probably should forget about that photo...

MP Dude 1: But... your in this one as well.... in.... it looks like the Balklands

MP Dude 2: Hey i recognise that guy from history books, its Archduke Franz Ferdinand...

MP Dudette 1: He looks in a bit of pain... and your carrying a gun

Lee: OK OK LETS MOVE ALONG NOW...

MP Dudette 2: And thats you again... youre invading Poland?!

MP Dude 1: And in this one it looks like youre in a big tug-boat.... with an iceberg attatched to it.... and... my word that boat is HUGE

Lee: erm...

MP Dude 2: Is that you making an American version of 'The Italian Job'?

MP Dude 1: That IS bad Lee....

Lee: umm...

MP Dude 1: Lee.... are you a troublesome time-travelling footballer from the planet Snub?

Lee: <sigh> yes, yes i am..

OOC: The following RP along with all RPs following it are a screenplay, that will never be produced, yet somehow I’ve managed to place real actor’s faces on my fictional players’ bodies. At least it doesn’t come off the book, so you don’t have anything to glorify against it. This is all you get. Ha.

A man in a wheelchair sits watching the TV. The World Cup 14 Commercial comes on, Purple Haze playing in the background. The commercial plays to its full, and the man in the wheelchair grabs the remote and turns off the TV. As he turns it off, the camera pans around him, revealing the face of Henry Tuck, in full sheriff of crimpton county regalia.

HENRY TUCK: Henry, this is your year. This is your year to shine.

World Cup: A Movie

The 14th World Cup rolls around. Many things have changed. The World Cup Committee has come under the rule of a tyrannical dictator, who will stop at nothing to achieve conformity. Men, women, and Alan Belmores lived in fear that the Snubian head of the World Cup Committee, Yanni Butkis, would come and destroy their quaint little village. Players played cautiously on the pitch, watching their every step, for they knew that Yanni was watching them through his piercing eyes, and if they slipped up, he’d have them killed, or worse, excommunicated.

Two men stand in centerfield of National Stadium in Arms of Nobles, Kingsford. One passes something to the other.

LEE BRANSON: Take this.
SANTO YESUCRISTO: What is it?
LEE BRANSON: You’ll see.

The Kingsforder starter didn’t know if he should take the package. Those Audioslavians can always be suspicious, especially when it comes to midnight deals and small, unmarked packages.

LEE BRANSON: Take it!
SANTO YESUCRISTO: I don’t know if I should.
LEE BRANSON: You wanna know what it is?
SANTO YESUCRISTO: Look, this might not have been a good idea.
LEE BRANSON: TAKE IT NOW!

Santo Yesucristo slowly reached out his hand, and Lee Branson quickly thrust the package into it. He headed off in the black of midnight, leaving Santo alone on the pitch.

To be continued…

We are on a press conference in the RejisFA (or as it is called in rejistanian: Asene tani sekhika rejistaniha) headquarters. Teke Daran, Hexen Imdila, Laxtu Takil and for some strange reason Myk Linkosa, coach of Niadi Junis, are there to tell the reporters about the future of the rejistanian soccer.

Teke Daran: Ladies and gentlemen, We all know that change is the only constant - and that you can not even rely on that. I think, that is enough announcement. I won't decrease Imdila'he's simu by talking for him.

(nervous whisper started as the president of the RejisFA used the word 'simu', a untranslatable ideal in minokajetian ethics. Something big was about to be announced)

Hexen Imdila: Hello. You already might have suspected it, the times are changing. Most people don't remember the time when I was not coach of the national team, but that does not mean, that I will do this job indefinately. 18 years long, the Orange-blues were my life. Now I decided that it is time for a big change. I will retire.

(the reporters were shocked)

someone: We all here have one question: 'Why?'

HI: Because it is time for a change. I'm sure it is better for the Orange-Blues and for me.

TD: The new coach of the Orange-Blues, I am proud to announce, is: Laxtu Takil!

(the flashlights of the cameras start hectically flickering as all reporters suddently seem to realize the plain former co-coach, who in all the time he was known by the media didn't have one minor scandal)

Laxtu Takil: Good morning, I am glad that the Asene selected me for this job, which is of that importance for the RejisFA and perhaps I might even say: for Rejistania. I can promise you, that I will do everything possible to give the RejisFA and the country a reason to be proud. However, I urge you not to go into this cup with exaggerated expectations: The team is currently in the state of change. Big names retired or don't play in the national team anymore - some never did, young players are trying to take their place. It might be an advantage for us, it might also be a big disadvantage. Only time will show where we will stand.

someone: Are you trying to spread pessimism?

LT: I just told you that everything can happen.

someone: Even failing to qualify?

LT: Snub Nose 38 already experienced it, under Imdila'he, the Orange-Blues failed to qualify twice.

someone: Who will be the co-coach?

TD: If you wouldn't interfere when Takil'he speaks, he would already have told you, that Majik... ahem sorry, Myk Linkosa take this position.

(again the listeners are quite surprised)

Myk Linkosa: Before you ask: yes, it is true. After I got this offer, I quit my contract with Niadi kali for this job.

someone: Has this anything to do with the fact, that Niadi was last in the heven vinali?

Myk Linkosa: (laughs) It was an archievement to qualify for it, don't you think? Don't forget that it was the first time that Niadi stepped out of the shadow of teams like Nanti or Vaje~n. It was a success to finish that highly.

(Pointless questions about Niadi and South Mintania and the Sike kaletri match follow)

TD: thanks for your interst and your patience. All other questions can only be answwered in the next months.

Jason: Hello sports fans, I'm Jason George and this is my cohost, Pontoon Perry.

PP: Hey, guys, I hope your having a wonderful saturday morning.

Jason: Alright, let's get started. we are talking to with national team manager, Jeff McKay about the new direction the team will be going after the disaster that was World Cup XIII

PP: No kidding *rolls eyes*

JG: *glances evily at Pontoon* Let's welcome Jeff McKay to our show!

*In Studio Audience claps wildly with a few teenage girls screeming and fainting, along with one holding up a sign saying I'll marry you!*

JM: I'm glad to be here, thanks for having me.

JG: Alright, well, here's our first question. What changes are you planning to the Stars in the off-season?

JM: Well, I'm planning to take us away from the physical style of the Stars of the past and move us back to finesse play, with a very potent offence that when thye strike, they will score, no doubt about it. The defense will be the focus, hopefully preventing the disaster that was last years qualifying

*More to come later*

PP: Amen to that one. How are the players reacting to the transition in system?

JM: Fairly well actually, it's tough, no doubt about it, especially when that was the only system you've played under for some twenty odd years. But I think the lads are doing great.

JG: Well, that's another issue I'd like to bring up: the team is getting old. Very old. Many suspect that a majority of the team will retire between this cup and next.

JM: Well, I've talked it over with the players, and we have all agreed that we are going to make one more run at it. We'll be fielding a single squad during qualifying, but the substitutes will be getting lots of playing time to get them ready for WCXV.

PP: Interesting...so, any real talent coming up from those new ones?

JM: Yes actually, quite a bit. We all saw Pavel Julios' play last cup, and was an incredible player in all ends of the pitch. Also, we have a new 'secret weapon' as you would put it, something we won't reveal intil cup time.

PP: *Snickers and rolls eyes*

JG: *makes cutting motion at Pontoon*

JM: Hey, is there something in between you two? *confused*

PP: Nothing, nothing at all *deep sarcasm*

JG: Alright, I've had enough of your sarcasm, you s** o* a b****! *lunges at Pontoon*

*fight breaks out*

Halfassed hunt for manager continues!

HFA chairman Peter Parks confirmed to-day that Forest manager Mr. John Clough will not be considered for the vacant post as Hurricanes coach.
Mr. Clough had be touted by many as the possible successor to Jarvis Smith, but he has 2 years of his current contract at Forest left, and it is beleived that the HFA were unwilling to meet Forests' compensation demands for their manager.
With numerous teams having already announced their squads for the qualification matches, the lack of manager for the national side is becoming an embrassment for the HFA.

"No one within my team is assured of a place automatically. I consider each player carefully and with due consideration. I know exactly how to run a national squad, and I need no help from certain areas of the media to go about selecting one."

We again post need for a uniform design template, we made inquiries with one outfit but they have not been able to get back with us so here are the details: our colors are Royal Purple, Silver, and Black - home uniforms should be purple top, black bottoms with silver lettering/design, away uniforms should be silver with black and purple accents. We need both player uniforms as well as a goalie uniform, and our mascot is of course the french bulldog - but a bulldog of any type would do. We request both front and back views. Would like to see them before WC 14 - if you would rather not to design but point me in a direction if where I could design them myself that would be fine as well.

From the KaMaRi Update - International edition

Orange-Blues can't win anymore
The first match of the new Orange-Blues ended in a goalfest, unforunately not in favor of Takil'he's team. The friendly between Rejistania and the Belmore Family, played in the Na~ovi Nanti stadium, ended 3-4. Takil'he used the match, which has no influence what ever on rankings to give many new players international experience or, more appropriate for the former U21-players: to give them experience in the real national team.

The Orange-Blues had the better start and the home-advantage on their side. Mata Koleni and Milan Tia~e, challenged the Belmorian goalie Herrerros-Symons'he several times. One of the excellent chances led to the 1:0 by "Tihrana" Tia~e'he in the 5th minute. The belmorian defense after that still made horrible errors and especially Mata Koleni had a talent to use them for his purposes. In the 14th minute, Koleni'he extended the lead after a corner kick by Idine Takil in the 14th minute. Unfortunatly, the Belmorians decided after that goal to attack at all costs. The change of strategy totally surprised the Orange-Blues, who were the more offensive team before. The belmorian hetaki succeeded twice in the first half. Once three minutes after Koleni'he archieved the 2:0. the surprising attack gave goalie I Y'he no chance, the score was 2:1. Alan Belmore archieved the equalizer by exploiting a misundersanding between Seda Kansu and Sijij Kansu. The halftime score was 2:2.

The Belmore Family had the better start in the second half. The belmorian forwards had some 100% chances, but were unable to capitalise them. In the 55th minute however, a controversial free kick was awarded to the Belmore Family, Price shot the ball and Alan Belmore had his head on the right position to archieve the lead for the Belmorians. The trailing now forced the Orange-Blues to start playing more offensively. One of the noorious counter-attacks equalised the score again in the 64th minute. Tihrana again showed that the comparisms between him and SyLy in WC9 have a certain legitimacy. The score was 3:3 and both teams seemed to could live with it since the tempo slowed down and both sides merely concentrted on defense. when everyone expected the mach to end as draw, Belmore'he and Rivers'he started a late attack. Su I Y only missed the ball by centimeters. The final score was 3:4 against Rejistania. Coach Laxtu Takil commented the loss only with: "Ask Imdila'he of his first match as national coach!" The Update can provide the information, Takil'he refered to: The first match of the Orange-Blues ended 1:3.

The result:

National Squad Retirements Announced
Five players won't return for WC14

AMISSVILLE -- After today's highly disappointing 3-0 semifinal loss to Eauz in the WC13 semifinals, the Bedistan Football Association announced that five of the eleven Bedistan Lions starters will not be making their way to Oglethorpia or Kingsford for World Cup 14. Goalkeeper Tabitha Fukushima, who will be 37 when the Cup rolls around, is retiring citing her age, along with defenders Karina Kucharski (41) and Clinton Saravia (36) and midfielders Neil Palin (40) and Rosalinda Heidelberg (44) [all cited ages as of WC14 finals].

The following players, all substitutes from WC13, will fill in for them this time around:

GK - 63. Terry Delk (age 23, Yuba United)
LB - 66. Katherine Greenwell (age 23, Columbus FC)
RB - 50. Kurt Brew (age 32, Hundon FC)
CM - 69. Morris McGarity (age 31, Miffinburg FC)
RW - 67. Geraldine Abair (age 25, Hundon FC)

Johnny Lewis and Jeff Whitehurst will stay on as manager and assistant manager respectively. The Lions seem to be riding high once again, returning to the final four in Thirteen after sixteen years of absence, and hopefully the Emerald Heights at last holds the Cup with our name on it.

SHOCK AS ERG PICKED AGAIN
Wayne Ottgunn-Irwin on the announcement of the Druid WC14 squad.

NEWI Cefn Druids was in shock yesterday after cursed keeper Garth Erg was again included on the Druids' World Cup roster. Erg, who's father hails from Abysmalistan, even commented that the selection came as a surprise to himself.

"I didn't expect to still be on the roster. Reg Garth is first choice now, and it seemed to me that Phil Righteous's performance in the under-21s would get him the second goalkeeping place on the roster. But, not so unluckily for me, the manager decided to expand the squad a little, and that meant that there would be three goalkeepers on the roster, which meant that there would be room for me."

Manager Tim Welsh defended his decision to select Erg. "Garth is the most experienced international goalkeeper we have. Even if he is only in the squad because of this, then so be it."

However, teh decision has proved controvertial with fans, with some calling for Erg to be removed immediately. "The guy is cursed!" said one fan, forming part of a large angry crowd outside the FANCD headquarters located in The Hole in Mawr. "If Erg stays, we're not going to qualify again!" But Erg is staying. So if he is cursed, I guess it's another non-qualification for the Druids.

A PRESS CONFERENCE held at 1300 Hours this afternoon byt the E.B.F.A at their headquarters in Khandrias Square, Europa City today issued the new international strips to be worn for the next three consecutive world cups.

Confirming a lucrative, yet undisclosed contract with AngelCorp Technologies, Chairman David Merrior highlighted a return to more simplier times.

"Our home kit is a call back to the older days of the sport. Between nineteen thirty and nineteen fourty one we played in a mostly Tangerine number, which has gradually fallen away, as last season's home kit featured only arm panelling in our national colour. We've gone some way to redress that."

The away kit is also a tie in to ages past, as worn during the "Wilderness Years" of nineteen sixteen to nineteen twenty eight.

Replica kits should hit the shelves in three to four weeks, as should training and other merchandise. Further appearances from AngelCorp are expected, yet little is known of this mysterious company, whose company headquarters are not even based on Earth itself.

Match-fixing 4 sent down!!

The trial of the four WC13 Hurricane players finally came to a conclusion to-day after months of legal drama. The judge in the case left the courtroom at 11 00 to consider her verdict. At just after 14 00, Judge Judy returned to the court room and announced that all four players were guilty of attempting to 'illegally pervert the natural odds' and of 'attempting to profit from the same'.
She agreed with the prosecuting HGC lawyer, Oprah that the four players had key roles in the Hurricanes side against Bedistan, and that they used these positions to help ensure that the result of the match finished as their needs required. The arguement by defense lawyer L.Hutz that four players couldn't themselves influence a football match was rejected, Judge Judy stating that those involved had 'emmence' influence within the squad and had lead by example throughout the previous games, and did so again in the Bedistani match.
Madge Boot given a 2 year sentence and fined 1.5 million Warks (the amount her husband's bet had won after the result), Totti and Perfect were given 1 year a piece, but have been taken into protective custody after agreeing to give evidence against the Getoverit based casino that 'gifted' them 500,000 Warks each after the game.
The final member of the four, Adam Marks, was given a 3 month sentence.
All four defendants have been ordered to pay compensation of 250,000 warks

A HGC spokesperson said afterwards, "We are happy with the outcome, the Gambling industry is big business here in Halfassed, and we are glad that the judge realised the seriousness of what these people had tried to do."

Headline 2
Hopeless HFA have a Halfassed Hurricanes head honcho.

HFA chairman Peter Parks finally confirmed the appointment of under-21 coach and former Borderers manager Peter Piper as Manager of the Hurricanes side.
Pipers appointment comes as a slight surprise as he had always said he wouldn't step-up to the full-national role whilest still under contract at Borderers, however with the HFA failing to agree terms with Forest for Clough and with the draw for the qualifying rounds due to be made in the next few weeks a manager had to be found.
Piper had a mixed run as under-21 manager, losing heavily to Nikea, then winning the second match, before losing to a late goal in the final group match. He developed a good rapport with a number of the players in the side and has always been known as a man who manages to command the respect those playing for him.
He will have a tough task ahead of him in the upcoming games, only a couple of the squad from WC13 are still playing competitivly, a number having retired, and the 'match fixing 4' having of course been jailed for attempts to corrupt the natural odds of events. A few of the under-21 squad look likely to step up into the 'big league', but their are a few positions on the park that will be giving Piper some sleepless nights in the next week or two!

Headline three
Halfassed step-up in rankings

The final KPB world rankings, post WC13 have been announced and the Hurricanes have moved another step towards the coveted #1 spot.
Halfassed are now ranked 7th in the world, their highest since just after WC6.
Ranked 8th for the last cup, the Hurricanes had a tremendous run through qualifying and the cup itself. It took a sudden-death penalty kick defeat by Ravenspire to halt an 18 match unbeaten run that saw the Hurricanes win 8 on the trot twice. Despite losing in the second round, Halfassed equaled their seeding, finishing with the 8th best record and have benefitted by moving up in the rankings! This should mean the Hurricanes will be top seeds in whichever qualifying group they are placed.

The Brazillico Advance

Bats Win Friendly in Liverpool England
Brazillico will look to build confidence from 2-1 victory

By Jake Tartare

One team looked like a washed-up side still basking in glory from years past, while the other seemed set on achieving success in the present last night. And for once, the former wasn’t Brazillico.

The Chili Bats continued to build on their recent string of solid performances with a 2-1 victory over the Liverpudlian Englishmen in a match Brazillico controlled the tempo in for much of the contest. Brazillico was the hungrier side of the two to start the match and that was evident as they opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Sandro Cannon just seemed to slip behind and unsuspecting LE defence, collect the ball and pot it in the net. Fans and players protested the non-call on the offside, but it was to no avail, as Brazillico took the lead 1-0.

The rest of the first half was extremely cautious, with both sides not wanting to yield an inch. Brazillico went into the half with a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw a few more openings, and yet again, Brazillico would be the squad to capitalize. Nelson Bilbao came flying down the left wing and played a hard cross into the box. 17-year-old Octavio Quintana came hustling into the box and jumped upwards to head the ball. At the same time, <LE Goalie 1> came out to play the ball late, making for quite a mid-air collision. <LE Goalie 1> mistimed the play, allowing for Octavio Quintana to get a head on the ball and send it into the vacant Liverpool England cage. Fans and players yet again pleaded for goaltender interference, but yet again, nothing.

That second goal really seemed to wake up Liverpool England as they began to play with a higher sense of urgency. In the 71st Minute, <LE Striker 1> made a promising run up the field and readied himself for a shot. Johnny Damon came flying in and took the ball away with a stiff, diving tackle. Although the play was border-line clean, Liverpool Englanders in attendance wildly booed, trying to coax the referee to give them a penalty.

However, Liverpool England’s pressure would eventually see a goal, as <LE Striker 1> was yet again able to get free in the box and sent a hard shot on net, past a sprawling David Robinho. However, this goal in the 83rd Minute wouldn’t be enough, as the home side would lose 2-1.

-Match Notes-
Sandro Cannon upped his international goal total to 16, three behind brother Alex with 19 – Octavio Quintana’s goal was his first for the international team, becoming youngest player for Brazillico to score – Mass confusion in Brazillico after LE commentators kept referring to Liverpool England as the former champs, not realizing that other teams playing might have also won.

New coach, same goals

Dushanbe - With Issersons resignation after the terrible loss against Brazillico, the team had to look for a new coach. And they found one in Ion Yakir, Issersons assistent coach. Yakir is probably one of Tadjikistans most popular coaches, so popular that he got offers from 4 different Tadjik teams. Surprisingly enough he chose the national team, when asked why he went for the national team he answerred: "Working with the best Tadjik players and playing against the best players of the world is not only an honour, its also a challenge. I already know what i can do with a team in our competition, now i want to see how far i can get in this scene."

Yakir also selected a couple new players and as expected, most are Spartak players : Shaposhnikov, Pliev and Suvorov. 1st reserve GK is Bogdanov who takes Liaskins place. And the last new name on the list Rokossovskij, who plays for FC Penjikant.

New national stadium opened

Tomorrow Tadjikistans new 'Buranbay' Stadium will be officialy opened by president Samblevski. The new stadium was specially built for WC14Q can hold 88,000 people and cost 85 million Somoni's. The stadium will get a roof next year as it could not be finished before the WC14 qualifications, an extra fund of 4.8 million TJS has been reserved for the job

WARRIORS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT WC CHANCES

The Praying2God Warriors, who have never made it out of the first round are cautiously optimistic that they'll be able to make some noise in WC XIV. They are fresh off a runner-up finish in The Eagle's Cup, in the first time they ever qualified for the elimination rounds. Since they are now ranked 41 in the world, the experts widely believe that it is definitely possible for the Warriors to qualify, and potentially make a run deep into the field in this WC. It may seem unlikely that the Warriors will actually win the whole WC, just remember that there have been major surprised that have won the WC before, so anything is possible. It may all come down to who is in the Warriors' group for the qualifying portion of the tournament.

When things go poorly for the Crocodiles, it's always the coach who gets the blame.

So it's no surprise that, as the news of a massive slide down the rankings table became public, José Ruak was given the boot. Although he coached Black-and-Red Army to a second place finish in the inaugural LEAF Cup, Ruak's tenure as national team coach ended with a 0-3 record in WC14, while neighbours Eauz went on to win it all.

"All credit to Les Bleus, but that's a totally unacceptable performance," said people's representative for territorial defence & sports Bi Kikere. "Clearly, he wasn't worthy to succeed me."

Tapped to take over from Ruak is oreadest, whose last assignment was to take the U21 team to the quarter-finals, where they were eliminated by Kingsford. Oreadest, who became famous for his bright green hair back in WC5, has dyed his hair green again to mark the fortieth anniversary of the last time the Cup was played in The Emerald Heights. "Green for Emerald, green for Crocodiles, and green for the youth movement i'm bringing in to rebuild this franchise," he said.

To mark WC15, Stout Lout brewery will also be releasing a new emerald-coloured beer.

In other news, extra funds are being brought into Mau Slurp's House of Gambling to cover the large cash flow expected as thousands of tourists pour into the two countries to the south. Hotel rooms in border towns are offering competitive rates and short-hop balloon commutes to World Cup matches across the border in Kingsford and Oglethorpia.
Kaze Progressa
29-04-2004, 11:06
Daily Kangaroo report:

LIVERPUDLIANS HELD BY YOUNG PROGRESSAN SIDE

A young, inexperienced Progressan side secured an impressive 1-1 draw in Liverpool England last night after falling behind.

The Progressans, playing a 4-3-3 (an unusual formation in Kaze Progressa, where the 3-5-2 is preferred), secured several early chances, only to be denied by a series of saves from Mark Hearne Jr. In the most notable instance, Batia Bolidae-Baek - on his international debut - powered his way past two defenders before, with only Hearne Jr to beat, slamming the ball virtually into his hands, though the venom in the shot meant he could do nothing but slam the ball back away from his goal.

Liverpool England created few chances in the first half, but came out in the second half much stronger after fans and manager alike showed the players what they thought. Kof Hadji took his chance in the 48th minute, with a looping header at the far post flying over Ratin Hytaffi's tiny frame and into the top corner well away from debutant goalkeeper Huqi Entolibo.

The Progressan response seemed non-existant at first, and Hadji should have doubled the lead just three minutes later before, with only Entolibo to beat, skewing his shot past the far post. When he missed an almost equally simple chance on the hour, the Progressans were galvanised, sensing the Liverpudlians could not possibly score again.

The reward came on 68 minutes, when Bilit Uru found the best way to beat the on-form Hearne Jr was to go right around him. A one-two pass with Bolidae-Baek saw him sidestep the goalkeeper, avoiding being caught offside as he was behind Bolidae-Baek when the final pass was delivered, and the result was an open goal and an inevitable equaliser.

The final twenty minutes was a time of wasted chances; notably from Bolidae-Baek, who shot over the bar from just four yards. He almost made amends in the 88th minute with a thunderous 35-yard free kick, but hit the top of the bar having beaten Hearne Jr easily. 1-1 proved a fair result.

Song Singing Prior to Big Games

WESTSHORES, ONE RED DOT - As a sign of long-time dedication and celebration of the fourteenth edition of the game we all know as the World Cup, a group of Wolves supporters have gathered at The Wolves Cavern, one of the local pubs in Parkville, the capital of the state of Westshores, to sing continuously until the Cup qualifications start.

In response to every question we asked, they sung:
This is the game that never ends;
Yes it goes on and on, my friend.
Some people, starting joining it not knowing what it was,
And they continue playing it forever just because this is the game that never ends;
Yes it goes and on and on, my friend.
Some people, starting joining it not knowing what it was,
And they continue playing it forever just because this is the game that never ends;
Yes it goes and on and on, my friend.
Some people, starting joining it not knowing what it was,

Some people, starting joining it not knowing what it was,

It was not much of an answer, but it does show the enthusiasm of the fans, right here in One Red Dot. Ooh, the tune's catchy too. This is the game that never ends; Yes it goes and on and on, my friend. The Daily Aquillan report on Rejistania 2 Kaze Progressa 1:

OMSG THE PROGRESSANS SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kaze Progressa took a wonderful step forward in their international career today when they scored against world champions Rejistania.

Unsurprisingly though, it was only after they conceded two goals. Milan Tia~e and Mata Koleni both scored within ninety seconds of each other after the entire Progressan defence fell asleep at the hands of the sheer 1337ness of the champions, bombed into submission by the all-conquering goddess Margaret. The Rejistanians then proceeded to hit the bar 13 times and the post 38 times before lobbing the ball directly onto the head of Ertal Lubbarez. A 'Leagionnaire' then deflected the ball into the net.

In other news, Aquillans have been found to be 58939857% more intelligent than the average Progressan, and the Aquillan President declared that his nation's team could beat Kaze Progressa 11-0.

The next day in the Daily Kangaroo:

AQUILLAN MEDIA BANNED; 'RANK STUPIDITY' CITED

The entire Aquillan media was banned in Kaze Progressa today after claims that the Progressans were stupid.

The Daily Aquillan, which is also sold in small numbers in Kaza and Quarua, also presented a 'grossly fallacious' report of the Progressan football team's 2-1 defeat in Rejistania.

The paper has fought back. 'We did not claim the Progressans were stupid, we claimed the Aquillans had OMG HYPERPOWERS.'

From the KaMaRi Update, international edition

Last pre-Cup friendlies end 2-1
The Orange-Blues played two friendlies as preparation for World Cup 14 on different venues in Rejistania.

The first match in Najajara kali was the clash of the former world champions. The rejistanian defense improved greatly between the match between The Belmore Family and this match. The Englanders had few chances but their experience allowed them to capitalise one of them in the 20th minute. The general style of the match was more offensive than normal under Hexen Imdila. Milan Tia~e and Jisu Sejil (from Niadi Junis, until now no official part of the world cup roster) challenged the English defense several times and in the 40th and the 62nd minute scored. 'This match was encouraging' was Laxtu Takil's comment after the match, 'but we must not overestimate its importance. Liverpool as well as we knew that this games means absolutely nothing for the official sides.'

The second match was between Kaze Progressa, a team which used to 'jisu in qualification but yet have to reach the second round of the cup. They performed greatly in the Cup of Harmony, perhaps due to the Melmondian Voodoo Dice. Kaze Progressa dominated the first half, but the Orange-Blue defense and plain luck prevented the lead. The second half saw a stronger Rejistanian team. Milan Tia~e archieved the lead in the 58th minute after a corner kick by Liy Ra. Only 90 seconds later, Mata Koleni was uncomparable (ooc: "ma'ta koleni" means uncomparable in rejistanian) and extended the lead. The Progressan defense was apparently still in the state of shock when that happened. The Hadesian forward had no problems to get past Aeuwal Maurto and Ratin Hytaffi. After the Orange-Blues archieved the 2-0 lead, Kaze Progressa played very karelaish tactics, appaerntly to limit the heigth of loss. In the 83rd minute, the Progressans started a counter attack and some defensive errors allowed Ertal Lubbarez to increase the Progressan score. The 2-1 changed the match completely: suddently the Progressans were yearning for the equalizer. The Orange-Blues however tried to extend the lead and so the match became very exciting and saw some good chances for both sides.

The results:
Rejistania 2 (Tia~e 40th, Sejil 62nd)
Liverpool England 1 (Hawkins 20th)

Rejistania 2 (Tia~e 58th, Koleni 60th)
Kaze Progressa 1 (Lubbarez 83rd)

With the thread posted, it would be much appriciated if it were used for the duration of World Cup 14 -- and not this one.

In other words, the Pre-World Cup 14 RP Thread was intended to keep you busy on Friday, as well as when the World Cup 13 final was taking place, which 100 of you were not a part of.

Now that World Cup 13 is over and the Super-French States of Eauz are the victors, we can all get ready for World Cup 14 qualifying. Remember, RPs should now find their way to the thread that is linked to above.
