CK-ROC Systems, Taiwan's largest defence company and one of the firms included in the Taipei Index, has allocated $14 billion to the research and development of a new carrier.
The new carrier is intended to be a trimaran some 500-600m long, and carry up to 600 aircraft.
CK-ROC will begin tests on models next month.
