We are looking for partners in the construction/operation of The Terminal, a 100-mi diameter planet restaurant/bar/lounge/spaceport.

It will prospectively bring in billions of dollars per year to each of the contributing nations. It will be placed in orbit around Sol, and will be able to serve parties as large as 2 million!

DGNT is also happy to announce that its custom planet service, Planetary Productions based on Magrathea, will be constructing this planet.
We also notify anybody who gets ideas that Plant Construction is copyrighted by the International Mall and you'll have about fourty nations on your ass if you try it.
May you have a peacefull and profitable future. 8)

Dontgonearthere: You can't copyright an action, only a process. You can stop people from using a particular method to build a planet, but you can't ban people from building them altogether. If you tried, you'd be obligated to go to war with several very old and very mean nations. And the rest of us who wanted to would just ignore you and build them anyway. In fact, Xanthal has built a planet before. You wanna go? Bring it.

I would like to you notice the capitol letters in Planet Construction, they indicate that it is not mere planet construction. There is a purpose to everything.
In any case, the copyright only applies to actions taken AFTER it was issued, DGNT does not believe in retroactive copyrights.

Dontgonearthere: Very well. Define "Planet Construction".

Which one? The 'normal' method is to basicaly pull raw material, either in existing asteroids, or, if we cant find enough of those, stuff pulled from other planets, dimensions, whatever, together to form a 'planet', we then use gravity tech to accelerate the billion or so years it normally takes for planets to form by crashing the aseroids together and doing a deepscan to make sure there arent any inconvieniently large open spaces. Once this is done the inside is fixed up with yet more gravity to become a real core and provide some geological activity so the planet doesnt fall apart. With this done we 'finish' the planet by flattening it and applying whatever the customer requests as the 'crust' usualy about 100m thick. Once finished the liquid surface is added, and the requests lifeforms are established.
The 'other' method basicly involves building a scale model of a planet, which is hollow, and maintaining it through gravity technology so that the entire thing doesnt collapse on itself or float in inconvienient directions, IE: in more than one. Its basicaly the same without the construction.

Interesting. You might need to go even further in specifics to gain a copyright that anyone would respect, but you're getting somewhere. I'm beginning to disrespect the existing copyright offices. They'll put a (c) on almost anything.

Well, the IMs rules are basicaly that you cant copyright anything that you didnt make, dont you have a store there? Or are you one of the drop outs?

I'm one of the drop-outs. I didn't find it particularly furthering to my sales.

Me me, pick me!

Hey, I have a copywrighted Planet building Service (Planets4U.com) DGNT, and have succesfully created many planets in my time, a long time before you due to that 2 month advantage I have on you. (Insert Evil Laugh here).

We can build it cheeper than DGNT, I promise!

Ah, but WHO copyrighted yours? Mine is copyrighted on the IM, which gives me a good excuse to issue sanctions and close your storefront :P

Anyway, I only copyrighted MY construction technique, mentioned above.

And we can still build it cheAper than you.

Mine is copywrighted in one of the many copywright threads which have existed over the last 12 months. So there *blows rasberry*

And WE can do it cheaper than DGNT!

Ok, so then you and DGNT, or will you kill eachother first in a massive fleet battle?

Indicates secret fleet known as "Operation Lemon Jelly", which has been operational secretly in conflicts for centuries. I couldnt stay being 2007 tech forever, so I moved forward a little. Basicaly I have a roughly the sdame space power as you, and also radar deafeator orbital Bombers, which Roxorz!

And I dont really use radar :P
But whats say we stop spamming LRRs thread?
