Cyberutopia

((This is an open RP, but I couldn't fit it into the title. So join and party the night away!))
"I am getting way to old for this." Duo Migashi, People's Representative of Cyberutopia, mumbled to himself, leaning back in his chair and staring at the strangely comforting ceiling. "One hundred years, 2009 to 2109. From the brink of a decade fraught with chaos and uncertainty to the brink of another, and with it, a new era for our cherished Republic. Oh, that's good."
With a sigh, he leaned forward again, and scribbled down the idea.
"I hate speeches. I hate them I hate them I hate them." He complained, albeit fruitlessly, as his speech didn't poof into thin air.
His senile complaining was interrupted by the great oak door creaking open. Duo was about to complain about them, too, until they spoke.
"Hi, Daddy." Rain said softly, and grinned as she watched her father's heart melt.
"Hello darling. How did your date with that nice boy go?" Duo prodded anxiously.
"Nice? He made me pay for dinner, was a total jerk, and practically kicked me out of his car door. I hate stuck up kids who forget we aren't in a feudal society anymore." She responded, gritting her teeth.
"Oh." Duo said, feeling rather defeated. "You know it's our hundred year anniversary today?"
"No, Daddy." The young woman responded, teasingly sarcastic. "I had no idea. Of course I did, isn't it great?"
"Not if you're trying to write a speech about it." Duo retorted with a grin. "Fenix would know what to say, he was great at speeches. The People loved him."
"I know that Daddy, I remember how much you talk about him. I hope you're not thinking the People don't love you, too. We've advanced so much in fifty years. Fenix wasn't active enough." Rain said with a comforting smile.
"Thanks sweety, just call it a mid life crisis."
"Alright Daddy, I'll let you get back to work. Good luck." Rain smiled again and closed the door with a quiet click.
"I've got to get her a boyfriend, she's almost 20, I don't know whether I'm just bad at picking guys for her, or she's got higher expectations than I thought." Duo mumbled, and got back to work.
---
An hour later, he straightened his speech and picked up another piece of paper. "Now for the rest of the world..."
Communique to Everybody
Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Unified Socialist Republic of Cyberutopia. The entire world is invited to sent representatives to this multi-day celebration in the Square of Grand Rebirth, including dancing, contests of skill, and of course, lots of drinking in order to commerate this achievment in this turbulent world. Another goal of this celebration is, hopefully, to find an honorable and respectable man to marry the People's Representative's daughter, Rain Migashi (see photo below). We hope that many will come and join us in this joyous time.
