If the motion is passed synthehol, a varient of alcohol the effects of which can be banished with will, will still be allowed in the country for sale.

Skeelzania would like to remind Xanthal of the thirteen year period when the Old Terra nation of "The United Stats" banned the destilling and consumption of alchoholic beverages. At the time, the proponents of the so called "Prohobition" claimed it would cut down on spousal abuse, crime, and would lead to the ability of human beings to fly*. What happened was that organized crime made it big, massive disregard of laws among average citizenry insued, and countless Americans lost their jobs as brewing companies were forced to lay them off or go bankrupt.

*Skeelzanian records are not the most accurate in the universe.

Unfortunatly, this was not to be the most conservative thing the United Stats did. And soon the whole world would grow to hate it, even its own inhabitants.

I concede that George Bush III's idea of turning the moon into a gigantic nation-flattening device was a bit shortsighted, but that is not why I posted. I am simply attempting to warn Xanthal that the sudden prohibition of alchohol on a culture with a rich history of alchohol consumption is a bad idea.

A rich history of alcohol consumption? Who do you think you're talking to? This government does what is best for the people, and the people know it.

OOC: As insane as that sounds, it's true. Xanthalians are instilled with a sense of loyalty to the government from the time they're born.

If so, then why not instill them with a sense of responsibility? Obviously you have lived in America too long, a nation where alcohol is abused as often as trailer-park wives. If you would, however, groom your nation's people into a state of intelligence, they would realize that the fun of alcohol doesn't need to go hand in hand with the dangers.

Steel Butterfly: Alcohol is not fun. It is a health risk and a habit-forming beverage. Soda is bad enough, but at least that does not impair the drinker. I have not lived in America in my entire life, thank you very much. The Xanthalian Triumvirate will weigh the facts and decide accordingly on a course of action.

After a long debate and serious consideration, the Triumvirate has decided not to ban the sale of alcohol in Xanthal. "Passing such a motion would set a standard for interfering in the civil rights of our citizens. For such minor affairs the people should be allowed to make their own choices."

Roycelandia congratulates you on your sensible decision not to ban alcohol.

The Imperial Government is firmly of the opinion that citizens can be trusted to make intelligent decisions regarding the consumption of alcohol.

Alcohol is your friend... :D
