Being a relatively new nation, The Dominion of Coruna would like to ask the opinion of its fellow nations on a economic/production capapabilities question.

The strength of the Corunian economy rests mainly on our arms manufacturing. If our nation wanted to begin producing arms (infantry weapons like AK-47s and 9mms etc), to what degree would we be able to produce them?

They would not be for sale at a storefront. They would really just be for our regional and national military.
Our economy is 'good' and improving
Our pop is 26 mil and increasing
and defence spending is one of our priorities

I really appreciate any advice that would be given!

arms manufacture is the largest sector in your economy, which means the businesses are already set up. the question is not to what degree because your nation is already producing arms, the question is what exactly are you making.

my suggestion, from an RP standpoint, is to start small; 26 million people, so maybe you produce your own rifles, pistols, an airplane or two, maybe an armored vehicle. as you get bigger, provide arms manufacture remains your largest sector, you can expand this to cover a greater variety and a higher tech level of weapons. i wouldn't try making stealth fighters, for instance, until you break 300 million. remember that each weapon requires specialized machines, so you'll need a lot of investment to get those factories going.
