CACE Members In Minority Within IFTA

Recent data compiled by the Celdonian Department of Statistics has revealed that the population of Coalition of Anti-Capitalist Economies (CACE) member nations now finds itself in the minority within the International Fair Trade Agreement (IFTA) trading bloc.

Claire McKelvie, spokesperson for the CDS, reported that "the IFTA now comprises some 82 nations with a total population of 110,342 million, reaffirming its position as the world largest trading bloc, but CACE membership now stands at 32 nations with a combined population of 54,899 million placing them in the minority."

It was also noted in the most recent report that overall tax rates appear to be converging amongst IFTA nations.

Ms McKelvie commented, "What's also interesting is that tax rates throughout member nations appear to be becoming more uniform. The CACE members were traditionally seen as the more radical proponents of anti-capitalism, and whilst tax rates amongst CACE nations is higher than the IFTA average, we are now only talking about 94% compared to 90%. For comparison the Anticapitalist Alliance, often taken as the norm for anti-capitalist nations has an average tax rate of 91%. It would appear that, at least in some respects, there is a convergence of economic policy."

Commenting on the trend, a spokesperson for the Celdonian Ministry of Trade said: "it was always the hope that IFTA would outgrow CACE and that it would become a viable trading bloc for responsible nations who refused to exploit their workers."

Also of interest in the findings was that whereas 24% of ACA nations were officially designated as having “imploded” economies, the figure was much lower for CACE members at 15.6% and even better for IFTA members at 8.5%. The IFTA figure would be a mere 4% if CACE members were excluded, indicating that whilst membership of CACE has provided huge benefits to many of its members there is still work to be done.

Also of note, the Not Bored! Economists and Accountants Collective has recently released its latest report on economic development within IFTA. Below are some excerpted findings from that report.

First off, we have the overall charts of the distribution of nations into the five economic quintiles. The charts for both IFTA nations and the Anticapitalist Alliace are shown here - the ACA is used as the baseline for comparison.

From the charts it is plain to see that membership in IFTA has been an enormous economic benefit to all nations involved. Over the course of its existence IFTA has completely reversed the dismal economic trend that continues to prevail in the ACA. In fact, the limited gains shown in the ACA are almost entirely due to economic development by IFTA member states within the ACA.

Not shown in the charts, but shown in the data tables released in the full report, is some further breakdown of the numbers. Within IFTA 60% of its economies are now ranked Good or better, up from 40% at the original ratifying of the treaty. But within the ACA that number started (as of the earliest data we have available) at 28% of its economies ranked Good or better, climbed to a high of 39%, and has fallen back to 32%

The single largest economic rank among IFTA nations is Frightening, with 22% of the nations falling there. Within the ACA the widely held assumptions about anti-capitalist economies unfortunately still hold true - 24% of the nations there have Imploded economies. This is 1.5 times greater than the next largest rank, Reasonable. This is a sad state of affairs, and we hope that we can persuade more ACA nations - and any other nations that agree to the terms laid out in the International Fair Trade Agreement Treaty - to join IFTA and share in the immense benefits of fair trade.

The government of Tanah Burung notes this news with great joy. Since joining the International Fair Trade Agreement, we have seen our economy rise from "developing" to "thriving" as a result of increased trade, ithout being forced to resort to sweat shops or environmentally-destructive competition. We encourage others to join the IFTA.

Regarding the convergence of tax rates, the explanation is actually quite simple and remarkably logical. In any given mode of production, there will be certain political and economic policies that will yield the most efficient and effective production. We can see this through the evolution of capitalism, moving from, in the twentieth centuray alone, imperialism to fordism to neo-liberalism, each marked by significant political policy and economic behavior shifts. The change embodied by the IFTA is no less significant than the changes that occured in 1929 or 1973, and so we are seeing government adatpt to a new environment.

The IFTA clearly favors greater regulation of business, increased spending on social welfare as well as a more even wealth distribution through worker ownership. These factors, of course, are common in non-capitalist economies, which explains why even capitalist signatories of the IFTA are adopting these now time proven strategies.

The economy of our federation has also improved dramatically since the founding of IFTA, improving from 'reasonable' to 'powerhouse' (and sometimes 'all-consuming' if we neglect to hold a week long party once a month). This improvement is generally held to be mainly an effect of IFTA - before the establishment of IFTA our economy had improved from its post-revolution status of 'weak' or 'struggling' up to 'reasonable' through joining the Coalition of Anti-Capitalist Economies, but it reached a plateau there for quite some time. I would say that the International Fair Trade Agreement has been an unmitigated success both in terms of promoting fair trade and workers' rights and in promoting economic growth and prosperity.

And in even otherer news, IFTA nations are disproportionately beautiful according to a new UN report. Most of them rank within the top 10,000 nations, with a significant bias towards 2,000th and better.

Fair and humane trade, economic development, and beautiful environments. What more could anyone want?

The Ecotopian Grand Duchy of Hell Bovines rejoices with this great news!
Hopefully, this proof will help to dismiss the senseless rumours created by certain free-marketing nations, saying that the IFTA was CACE-dominated.
As an IFTA signatory and a non-CACE member, we can assure that in the IFTA all decisions are made democratically and that no group has predominance over any other.

We are very happy with these news and we suggest other nations, capitalist or socialist, to join us in the IFTA, not only one of the largest trade blocks of the world, but also one that will strenghten your economies while protecting workers rights.
Free trade only creates misery and hunger, only enrichs the bussinessmen at expenses of the poor and destroys third world economies for the sake of the market.
We hope this news can help so that other nations open their eyes, and join us in our path of freedom, equality and economic growth.
Regards,

Saturnino Vacuno, ministry of foreign affairs, Hell Bovines

We in Kerla are also glad to be a part of the IFTA treaty. It gives us a great advantage and helps our economy. We am glad to be part of CACE and ACA too.
