"Lord Malus," someone said to a shadowy figure sitting on a throne.
"What do you want?" Malus replied.
"Our raids can now barely support our growing population," the messenger said. "We have no choice. We must trade some of our resources - such as gems and gold for surface food and supplies."
"Break issolation?" the angry leader asked.
"Yes, Master," said the messenger.
"Why break what worked for so long?" asked Lord Malus.
"Our population has grown, Master," explained the messenger. "Don't worry. We have heard of alliances out there that may be able to help us. There is even rumors of a 'Lord Melkor' who has more power and influence than you."
"More than me?" Malus angrilly said. "That might be true, but you never shall insult me again." Malus clenched his fist and the messenger screamed in pain. "I have great power. If this 'Melkor' is better than me, then I must ally with him - at all costs. You must go to Lord Melkor immediately."
"Yes, Master." With that, the messenger left the Great Throne Room and took a tunnel to the surface.
