Geofrey Gilchrist Hello viewers, I'm Geofrey Gilchrist and I'm here with ex formula 1 champion, Tony Harefield.

Tony Harefield Hi Guys, Hi Geof. Thanks for having me on.

G.G Anytime Tony, infact you are going to be on our show all season. Anyway, we need to talk about the first Grand Prix of the championship.

T.H O.K Geof.

G.G Now, I know you have been for a walk arround the circuit this morning, what do you think?

T.H Well the staff here have allways done a good job, and they havn't stopped today. At Green Corner the sand is spread across the track from yesterdays qualifying, but other than that its a good track.

G.G Talking of the qualifying, lets check out the results from that sesion yesterday.

Luxor happy to be on front row

Team Starblayde Racing Tem Boss Curzon Luzor said that he was 'very pleased' to see Enrique Simmosa starting on the front row of the grid as he and Marco Del Blanco sandwiched the two Aust Forest drivers in third and fourth. Simmosa's highly competent driving is one of the main reasons why he's at TSR.

Luxor went on to say that he was 'very pleased' with Del Blanco qualifying in fifth position, pointing out his aggressive style:

"Marco always drives on the edge, this time he just happened to be a little over the edge of the track on a few corners"

Questions do remain, however, as to if either of the Starblaydi racers, or in fact the entire field, can catch Jonah Franklin, who qualified two-and-a-half seconds ahead of Simmosa.

This is Rafael Jongbloed, SCB News, at the Phoenix City Grand Prix.

Franklin Scores Track record In Impressive Qualifying!

Pabli-Corp' F1 team scored a huge win in Qualifying today, as Jonah Fraklin grasped the track record.
The record itself had stood for 7 years, since the great Eddie Stobbart rounded the course in just over 1 minute 32 seconds. Franklin was greatly impressed as the screen showed that he had smashed the record by over a second. Team boss Pabli told us the record was great but it was all about tommorrow to him. " If Jonah can recreate what he did out their today, then hopefully he can inspire Terrance Jones to move up the leader board." he said before shaking the hand of Franklin.
Elsewhere in the finishing table was Enriwue Simmosa for TSR, followed by the Aust Forest racers and del Blanco finishing fifth. An excelent race lies ahead for the morning, and this reporter can't wait.

Trixia in back 10, but confident

Well we at Imperial Trix Racing are, it has to be said, a bit disappointed with the qualifying, with Drax and Kris not having the best of days today.

But we are quietly confident, and with good reason. On our qualifying laps our Drivers say the Track was a challenge to get to grips with, but now they know it we are hoping for some great results. And i think, yes our #2 Driver, Kris Winter, is with us now for a chat.

Trixian Reporter: "Hi Kris! How are things in the pit?"

Kris Winter: "Things are good, we're all tanked up and ready to go, i've just had a new tail fitted to my car and its all looking good"

T.R: "Good, i'm glad to hear it Kris, are you confident?"

K.W: "Yes i am, i may be abit behind Drax but then i always am, thats why he's our #1 Driver"

T.R: "Thats good to hear"

Could all drivers please return to the pits for the line up

K.W: "Well that me, i'll see you after the race!"

T.R: "Ok Kris, good luck!"

SPEED OUTMANEUVERED IN QUALIFYING

John Speed was quite disappointed after his 14th place qualifying run. In an interview with reporters after the run he said that he felt that he was outmaneuvered in some of the corners by more veteran drivers. However, Speed remains hopeful for the race itself. Will he prove to be successful in the race, we'll bring you that story as soon as we get it.

Today, many Imitoran race fans seem disapointed with the placing of the FNW/BMW racing teams. Both veteran racers refused comment on the situation, although there were comments from the teams themselves. Pit crew blamed themselves, as two years off a circut has increased their pit time to 12 seconds, three seconds up from where they were two years ago at the Imitora GP, and believe that their work failed the team.

Other believe it was the drivers themselves, having an off day at the qualifying laps, and that in the actual race, they will proove what they really have. Hodge, the team's younger driver, is also new to F1, having moved up from the ranks of WRC. However, hopes are high, as he brought FNW/Mitsubishi a first place finish in last year's WRC.

Many fans wait to see how well the team does overall, however, hopes are high for a decent finish in the first race of the season. One fan was quoted saying, "Everyone has their off day, and that was yesterday, now they are on." Another said that "Its all well and good, we'll wait till they get here to race, then the real drivers come out," speaking about the track design for the Ornage GP. Rumor has it that the FNW/BMW team has already finished work on its prototype tire/suspension kit that will allow the Imitoran team to out perform on the tricky blacktop/asphault/cobblestone set up for the Ornage race.

Dennis blames sickness for Jackson's dismal run

PsyPoke News - April 14, 2004
MPR boss Frank Dennis seemed to be in a bad mood during the first weekend of the NationStates Formula 1 season.

In an interview with PPN's Brett Williams, Dennis said "Well, we're not really that happy with Mike's qualifying run. He's told me that he's been a bit under the weather this weekend, but not enough to affect his performance that much."

When his other driver, Thomas Stoddard, was brought up in the conversation, Frank got a bit happier. "The team are quite happy with 10th," he said, "but it's not really what we hoped for. So I guess we'll need to focus on improving Mike's car and hope he becomes well before the race."

But to end on a good note, he has praised the Phoenix City circuit during interviews throughout the weekend. "This circuit seems to be one of the best I've seen. The facilities are superb, the marshals have been well-trained, and both of our drivers like the circuit. It just seems unfortunate that we're having trouble getting to speed immediately."

G.G Wow Tony, what a race! The Aust team come in a tight first and second followed by Franklin in third.
T.H Yeah Geof, but lets look at some highlights:

Rob Castillo completed a terrible weekend, after an engine failure yesterday and then a no start today. He stayed on starting grid trying to start the engine untill he was lapped by the entire field and the supervisors declared the vehicle out of the race.

--------

At the fourth corner, Umbay Traverser, that the front three pulled two seconds away form the field. It was gifted to them when fourth place Ramzi lost controll and spun across the track, smashing into two cars before arriving on two wheels in the sand pit. As the field slowed to swerve past the front three managed to speed away towards the rest of the course.

-------

The crash on the 14th lap was nasty, as we saw Cromwell and Grunt slam togethor twice. Firstly Grunt lost controll and spun to the left and right, forcing Cromwell out to the right of the racing line. As he tried to regain the line he caught Grunt on the forward right tyre causing Grunt to spin completely, slamming sideways into Cromwell. Then as Cromwell began to spin Grunt slammed into the front of the vehicle forcing both drivers engines to spit fire and smoke.

The ITR team is devastated by this result, the team leader had this statement:

"Well Kris did ok, finishing 15th is an ok start to the season, but Cromwell, i feel for him, ya know, he tried to avoid the other car but it wasn't meant to be it seems. I only hope as the season goes on we get better. We better!"

Solid start to the F1 season from TSR
by 'Scoop' Ragnarsson

They were just outside the podium places, but Curzon Luxor was delighted with his team's start to the season. A fourth and fifth have put TSR second in the constructor's behind an Aust Forest team that dominated the first race.

"This might me more points than some teams get all season," Luxor joked, "but seriously, at the moment we're pretty much in the top three, we'll have to maintain our current performances and see if we can steal a few points off Aust Forest and Pabli-Corp to put us in a place where we can really challenge for Drivers and Constructors titles."

Enrique was somewhat disappointed to have been passed by three cars during the race, as he always tries to keep his place, at the very least. Marco had a better race than he did qualiifying, picking up five points to give TSR a total of nine after one race.

In this reporter's opinion, hopefully the other Races won't be an Aust-Forest 1-2 procession, but there's still everything to play for and Marco and Enrique's home circuit could help them jump up the table.

Geofrey Gilchrist Hello guys, and welcome to another packed F1 show here on channel 7! With me in the studio is Tony Harefield, ready to watch the qualifying laps here at the Starblaydia GP circuit.

Tony Harefield Thanks Geof, its a real pleasure to be here again, and I can't wait to see how the racers do on this circuit.

Geofrey Gilchrist Yes, it geared up to be a good days racing, the sun is shining and the track is dry. I just hope it stays like that for all the drivers to get out! Lets talk to Peter Hammerfoot, whos down in the pits with the Pabli-Corp F1 team.

Peter Hammerfoot Thanks alot Geof, your right I am here with Cheif Engineer Christopher Franko, who has been working hard to decrease the traction on Jonah Franklins car, to push up into second or idealy third position. Christopher, how do you rate Jonahs chances this weekend?

Christopher Franko We think he can rank highly on the qualifying period, but as this track is more suited to his love of speed and overtaking, we expect him to do better in the actual race.

Peter Hammerfoot So you think a Top 3 position is likely again?

Christopher Franko We hope so, I wouldn;t say likely, I suggest that it is probable though.

Peter Hammerfoot Well we at Cannel 7, PNNC broadcasting wish Jonah all the best. But we cant forget about Terrance Jones, who finshed lower down the order last weekend. Has anything been done to boost him?

Christopher Franko Yes indeed. We worked out that the essential problem was that the drive shaft was slipping and not alowing Terrance to optimise the speed of the car. We have looked at this extensively and have seen the car running at near top speed on the test track.

Terrance Jones So hopes are high for tomorows race?

Christopher Franko Definatley, we are hoping for a great day, and should get a few more points for the championship!

Terrance Jones Thank you Christopher Franko. We'll let you get back to preparing the cars for the qualifying laps.

Christopher Franko Thanks.

Terrance Jones Back to you in the studio!

It is a glorious day, barely a cloud in the sky as the bright Starblaydi sun beats down upon the circuit, with a gradual heat-haze forming despite the fresh, cooling breeze. Above every building and grandstand streams the flowing black, purple and white banners of Starblaydia, all crowned with the great golden Eagle. The creme de la creme of Starblaydia's models parade up and down the pit lane in matching skimpy outfits with personalised umbrellas to shield the drivers from the sun, while the Public Address system whips up the crowds into a frenzy, continually telling them that they "Ain't seen nothin' yet!"

TV crews from around the world are everywhere, those with special access try not to get run over by the Multi-Million-Credit racing cars as they interview the drivers and team crew. The home fans cheer wildly at the very mention of Team Starblayde Racing and their drivers Marco Del Blanco and Enrique Simmosa, let alone a glimpse of them or their cars. White and purple flags of varying sizes are waved in the stands. Helicopters fly over, expensive yachts are anchored by playboys and millionaires in the crystal blue Azure Harbour. Then the Starblaydi Air Force performs a series of perfectly timed, inch-perfect flybys in their latest and most powerful craft, deafening the crowds with screaming engines, putting the high-pitched revs of the F1 cars to shame.

And this is just the qualifying.

The Starblaydi Conglomerate of Broadcasters station has, of course, the most lavishly equipped TV studio at the Azure Harbour circuit. The main anchorman, with former driver and colour comentator beside him, hands over to his trackside reporter and her mobile TV crew. This time it was the good-looking, intelligent, brunette racing fan who knows all the inside information rather than the stunning (and stunningly dumb) blonde who can always get the top interviewees.

"Thanks Jim," She said after a short, smile-filled time delay, "I'm here on the track I've managed to grab TSR's own Enrique Simmosa. Enrique? how do you feel qualifying will do today?"

"I think that Marco and myself" he began, the tall tan driver in a thick South American accent, "have a very good chance of getting high on the grid."

The engines behind him revved and the reporter had to shout her question as Enrique leant in.

"Are you both well suited to this track?"

"Uh, yes, we are very pleased with our suits, they are stopping the flames and also very colourful..." he was interrupted by a hyped up Marco Del Blanco, bounding around and wrapping his arm around Enrique's neck before bounding off again.

"Yeah, baby! Our house! We gonna clean up. P1 all the way baby, yeah!"

The reporter laughed as Enrique felt slightly embarrassed at Marco's antics.

"Well there, exclusive comments from both TSR drivers who seem very confident at their home Grand Prix. Back to you, Jim, in the Studio."

"What do you get," Marco said, tugging at his earlobe with every syllable, "when you cross a Kangaroo with a Sheep?"

"Marco!" Enrique snorted. "If you make with that "Jokin' Ear" gag one more time I shall be inclined to smack you one."

Joe Kennire, the subject of Marco's appaling joke, was the best part of two places and nearly a second ahead of him in the qualifying, while Enrique was a further three seconds back in fifth.

This was their home GP, dammit, and they weren't about to get beaten by Aust Forest and Pabli-Corp twice.

"What was that?!?!" yelled Mercedes PsyPoke boss Frank Dennis at his two drivers. "I was hoping you'd do better than you did at Phoenix City, but noooo, the both of you HAD to go slower, didn't you? Listen to me. If neither of you don't start getting serious about this soon, you'll both be fired before you can say 'Starblaydia'."

Thomas chimed in. "Well, it's not like we meant to go slower. I, for one, didn't feel right in my car..Normally I feel like the car's an extension of my body, but this time it didn't feel the same, and you know I can only concentrate if I feel just right." Mike, on the other hand, just kept quiet, not wanting to bring the wrath of his boss on him once more and thinking to himself that bringing the team to Formula 1 was a bad idea.

Frank immediately noticed this and asked, "Mike, do you have anything to say," but Mike just shook his head and resumed looking at the wall.

"Well, Thomas..what made you not feel right in your car?"

"I don't know..it may have been how I was sitting or the steering wheel or something else.."

"Hmm..let's go check it out. I'm sure we can find what's wrong."

Frank and his drivers walked into the paddock where their black, red, and blue cars were being worked on by the mechanics. But after over an hour of looking for what was causing Thomas to lose focus, they still couldn't find anything. "Don't worry, we'll find whatever's causing the problem before the race.."

"Ya know, Matt, your my boy and all, but shit, another low finish, whats going on out there?" Ryan asked, pulling the BMW 7 Serries onto the street. The car cost near a quarter million dollars, and it was hardly used. They were driving back to the hotel, hoping to get a decent rest before the race. So far, they had been disapointing at best.

"I dunno man, I just can't get into a groove, get me shit together. But hye, ya know, 8th aint all that great either."

"Yeah, I know. Bad clutch day. I'll get it tommorow."

"Yeah, you better," Matt said, joking.

The Pit

Matt kicked the tire of his car. It was total and utter BS. And it was times like this he hated life. He had actually, at one point, been holding a decent third, less than a full length from second, when, in one of those mythological car racing stories, his foot literaly went through the floor, pushing the clutch pedal off its mount, and putting him in a situation where he had no clutch.

He had finished the race by forcing himself to push in what was left of the pedal, till a forced pit stop got the situation fixed. God and pit crews love duct tape. His 9th place finish was a suprise to the team, almost as much as a suprise as was Hodge's 13th. The team was down, and it was an upsetting situation. However, the season was far from over, and the team still had room to turn around.

Curzon's forhead was bruised from all the headbutting he'd done to his desk.

"What. Was. That? Seventh and Eighth, are you shitin' me?"

The drivers, suitably ashamed, merely looked at the floor.

"I think it was the engine, cheif," Marco offered, "I din't have the high-end grunt like usual."

"Readouts were a little low, but not enough to give you a performance like that." Curzon immediately snapped back.

"We shalll be doing better at the next time, Boss" Enrique managed

"You'd better..."

Tempers are starting to flare in Scuderia Duhallow after a dismal performance in the Starblaydi GP. After cruising to both championships last season, most pundits had expected retiring Drivers' Champion Doppelganger to be challenging for a record eight title in his final year in the sport. Going into his home GP, it looks unlikely he will even be batlling for podiums this year.

It's hard to see how Scuderia Duhallow have got it so badly wrong. Their 2004 car, on the outside at least, appears to be an evolution of last years dominating machine. But young Simachella has claimed the car is incredibly nervous and difficult to set up. Aerodynamic tweaks at the second race of the season only further seemed to unsettle the young driver and he skidded off the track on lap 9 whilst jostling for 12th position.

Doppelganger who has dominated the sport for over a decade could fare little better as he scraped home pointless in tenth position. The domestic press had laid the blame for Duhallow's lack of speed firmly at national rubber compony Hallowex. Hallowex are the sole tire supplier in many junior categories of world motorsport but have an exlcusice deal with Scuderia Duhallow in F1. Many pundits feel this has hurt tire development and that Scuderia Duhallow would be up at the sharp end of the grid if it could get out of its deal with Hallowex and sign one of the other two rubber companies in the sport.

Testign continues next week across the OUT region as Scuderi Duhalow battle to find something that will allow them to put in a reasonable performance in front of their home fans next weekend.

Duhallow AIR GP of Duhallow
Race name:- Duhallow Air Grand Prix of Duhallow
Location:- The Peace Park, People's Capital of Duhallow
Lenghth:- 64 laps (Anti-Clockwise)
Skills required:- Control, Speed

Preparations continue in the People's Capital of Duhallow as the city counts down to hosting the thrid round of the NS-F1 World Championship.

The Peace Park in the centre of the nation's capital is once agin being transformed over the course of a few weeks into a state of the art F1 complex. This year, the track is retruned to its original configuration as the notoriosuly dangerous Eau Vert which claimed the leg of Jason Livingstone four years ago is reverted to its pre accident shape.

Control and speed have always been necessary to do well on this undulating fast track where grip levels are surprisingly good, given that it used for racing but once a year. The setting is extraordinary as the track takes in Peace Street, the city's main thoroughfair, winds around the National Parliament building and into a lush green tropical park where the tarmac is surrounded by palm trees and wildlife.

6 time world champion Fabien Doppelganger has won 4 out of the past 5 grand pris in home city. In what looks to be his final season, few people are betting on him repeating this feat as the national tema are having a torrid start to the season. Their devoted fans are praying that the unusual nature of the track surface and Hallowex home advantage will see Doppelganger and young protégé Simachella take the fight to the Aust Forest, Pabli Corp and TSR teams.

"WOO-HOO!!" Thomas yelled as he climbed out of his car following his 3rd place finish. "POINTS FINISH!"

Everyone else in the paddock gathered around to congratulate him. "Nice job, Tommy, got some points for the team, and I can see you're pretty damn happy," team boss Frank Dennis said while patting him on the back.

Thomas exclaimed, "Dinner's on me tonight, guys!", as the team celebrated.

Mike appeared to be happy for Thomas, but was still thinking about why the car stalled on the grid. Frank walked over and comforted him, saying "We'll get you back before the Duhallow GP.."

FNW/BMW Drops Hodge, Buys New Cars, and Hopes for a Win

Today, FNW/BMW racing out of Imitora anounced its drop of driver Ryan Hodge. After a low finish with a rather dismal time, it was decided that he wouldn't be able to help the team any further. There is no news on a possible new driver, however, it puts the spotlight on FNW/BMW to grab a decent wheel person for the rest of the season. It is unknown how the team will respond to loosing Hodge.

However, a report released by FNW tells that, while the idea took time to go through the upper regions at BMW, a deal has been made with the so called 'Gods' of F1. McLarren and Ferrari have both been contacted, and Ferrari has responded positively, as had McLarren. McLarren and Ferrari F1 both have agreed to work with BMW on two new cars that will arrive hopefully before the end of season. BMW has been tasked with working on the transmission with both cars, as well as the suspension, while McLarren and Ferrari have both decided to work on the body design and engine of each.

FNW and BMW both hope for a win soon, or at least a top five finish. Further, FNW has released hints that they may be holding another set of races, following the Pablicostian GP. Its hoped that the combined BMW/McLarren/Ferrari cars will perform and be able to show off for this next set of races.

Formula 1 teams have endorsed NS-FIA president Pabla Custer's plans to overhaul the sport.

Team bosses agreed to enact many of the sweeping changes proposed by Custer at a meeting in Duhallow on Tuesday.

Standard electronic control units will be introduced to dispense with traction control while testing will be heavily restricted or even banned.

There will be a single tyre manufacturer, a move which should see the return of slick tyres. Manufacturers will also discuss a cut in engine capacity.

It is hoped that many of the changes, such as the new engine regulations, will be introduced in time for the 2006 season.

That is more than custer had hoped for - he had not envisaged the changes being implemented before the end of the current Phoenix Agreement in 2008.

Custer told DBC: "I couldn't have asked for more from the meeting.

"It will make Formula 1 more interesting, there will be closer racing and more overtaking - that was the basic idea because that is what the fans want to see.

"It was a very good meeting. Where I had expected very significant dispute and debate there really was none and it was very constructive.

"We went through all of the proposals and discussed them with the teams in some detail and as far as doing things sooner than 2008 there was a wide measure of agreement that we need changes much sooner."

There was almost complete agreement among the teams that costs needed to be reduced, and some changes could be made as early as next season.

There is also the possibility that the current qualifying format could be scrapped before the end of this season.

Custer added that the threat of a breakaway championship, the NS-GPWC, had been successfully averted after Ernie Richardson offered to increase payments to teams.

He said: "Everything the NS-GPWC set out to get, they have got. Their raison d'etre has disappeared."

The GPWC regrouped at the Starblaydia GP after accusing the banks that own the sport's rights of failing to keep their promises.

However, Richardson has now agreed to pay the teams the sums of money they had agreed to when a memorandum of understanding was signed with the banks at the end of last year.
