In a calculated move designed to send out a definite message to the International Community, Governor Bryce today successfully repealed foriegn policy legislation which forbade a direct attempt on the life of a foriegn dignitary in peacetime. The move came amidst renewed calls by Armed Forces Chiefs for increased powers in taking pre-emptive action against a growing threat to Chimaean security, such as the one faced by the previous Styles Administration over the Reich.

The move, however, has been on the Governor's agenda since taking power in a bloodless coup earlier this year. Recently, Chimaea has seen a number of foriegn policy changes that hark back to the days of the Governor's father, former Governor Lord Kyle Bryce. Lady Bryce has commented that she aims to achieve a 'solid, pro-active foriegn policy which better serve the aims of the Commonwealth'.

The assassination law being repealed will give a green-light for government-sanctioned military strikes aimed directly at getting rid of enemy leaders and other important figures who pose a threat to Chimaean security. Lady Bryce has hastened to emphasise that the laws against assassination within the Commonwealth still hold sway.

The move has been criticised by the Opposition as 'dangerous, reckless and a greater threat to national security than the new abilities given to the military'. The Legal Union of Chimaea has also criticised the action as directly contradicting the spirit of the Chimaean Consititution and Chimaea's international responsibilities.
