The Ministry of the Armada and Military has been instructed to halt all expansion to the nation’s defensive and offensive forces until further notice. The Triumvirate issued the order after recent expansion of the Military and Armada yielded costs of almost fifteen trillion quinaults ($30 trillion) and pulled an additional 3% of Xanthal’s working population into the Ministry’s service, shorting the Ministry of Social Affairs several million workers. Along with the Triumvirate order came a funding diversion, Q250,000,000 from the Ministry of the Armada and Military to the Ministry of Social Affairs. The Minister of the Armada and Military said today that he “respect[s] and approve[s] of the Triumvirate’s actions, and assure[d] the Xanthalian people that the funding cut comes from the Ministry’s expansion budget and will not affect the nation’s current defensive integrity.”
The Triumvirate has promised that the Ministry’s Advanced Nanodefense Program will not be cut, and that it will restore the defense forces’ expansion funding “as soon as it becomes economically feasible to do so.” Current projections indicate that it is unlikely the Ministry of the Armada and Military will be allowed to expand its forces again for at least fifty years.
