This is exactly the kind of attitude which new nations such as Balzar wish to dispel. The Theocracy of Balzar only recently gained independance from previous oppressive imperial interference, and so the people here are just finding our political feet. Indeed, Balzar is in a region of 'new' states, formed after imperial land was carved up as the spoils of war.

Anything we - the people of Balzar - and our neighbouring states can do to help eliminate this n00bism, we would gladly assist.

Because the best form of dealing with people is to either ignore them or gently guide them to the stickies. It's useless to "carpet nuke" because you end up gettting into a stupid god modding war. Besides, ICly, Vrak only deals with certain nations and does not have the time nor inclination to run around bothering people. And for spamming boards, etc... then password protect your region.

Even if we did 'carpet bomb' them, we would be criticized for doing it to a nation that is extremely smaller than us, and accused of bullying. It's a double-edged sword. I've just learned to ignore it.

It is an in character subject. This is about forming a coalition agains the n00b threat. n00bs are real and we must stop them.

(meanwhile rumour has it that they are led by vicious koalas which change regions on a regular basis to elude capture)

As a result, the Benician Intelligence Agency plans to set up an anti-n00b department in the next month to deal soley with n00b activities in nationstates.

I agree that something must be done to improve RP quality on these forums, but a random n00b bashing thread isn't going to do it.

This isn't n00b bashing...we are actually forging a serious coalition to tackle the n00b threat. We will RP invasions and occupations properly. This thread is just the first stage in the coalition's development.

Depending on the action, I may be willing to partake. I would need to know some details on particular incidents before I commit to any specific actions, and there must also be some entertainment value in such a venture. I suppose, as long as I get to use a flail properly, I will be well pleased.

Clearly these "experienced" nations have not realized what a grave mistake this would be. True, there are n00bs entering this realm, and I was one of them. But I pose this question: do any nations out there recollect to the time when they were teh n00b?

The n00bs pose absolutely no threat whatsoever, and hasty actions could lead to a coalition against your nation.

It is asinine to attack a n00b nation in front of the world spectrum on the basis that your nation will appear to be a hoarding monster that will, and i say confidently, be fought by all opposing nations quickly and swiftly for the security of all nations.

Rethink this issue, for the sake of world.

This is ridiculous, carpet bombing a nation simply because they are annoying OOC and RP poorly is not only stupid, it's breaking one of the cardinal rules of RPing: No wars for OOC reasons.

Ironic really, since those pushing for these idiotic actions are mere n00bs themselves in the eyes of many.

There seems to be some confusion as to what a n00b is. A n00b is someone who does not play by the rules, who asses around, spams etc etc.

A newbie on the other hand is one who is new and is willing to learn how NS life is conducted.

As for password protecting the region - yes we could do that.

For me that would take away the spontonaity of the game - it's great having people just drop in and post.

Anyways, why should our region *have* to do things to avoid spammers when it is they who are at fault. Judging by the replies to tgs most n00bs don't realise that recruiting in regions other than The Pacifics and the RR is illegal, and in those places only one recruitment message per day.

Oh man, I'm scared. Notice how I said some of you were newbs, as in a newer nation. Also, that's the third time it's ever been implied that I was a n00b. And only the first time where they right. It was called Operation: Righteous Smackdown. Now I am fairly respected as an RPer.

Holy crap thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard you say... and to think, most of your comments are perfectly relevant in a situation.

Lets see, a new nation is started by a young person and they decided it would be "cool" to declare war on the world or RP a "terrorist" group, being the current trend.

They anoy a load of people, what do you do? You can try and teach them; most people do in fact try this accept half of them (at least) use the word "n00b" when talking to them... so then this kid gets pissed off, he doesn't want a lecture, what do you do?

Carpet nuking them will result in a mess. Even if they accept that they are doomed they may just try and make a new nation and start it all again? If not then you'll just end up shouting at them which is as good as hitting your head against a wall.

However, you could just ignore them. If they don't have anyone to play with then they will quickly loose interest or at least anoy someone else which is good enough. There is always a chance that they will get tired of people ignoring them and actually try to learn... failing that they could give up.

But IC actions against a OOC problem are never the solution.

So are you going to carry out this declaration of war? I haven't been in a war since august, and feel the need to rp a war.

But seriously, folks, this sort of thing never works. People have been trying this for ages. Many fail to distinguish between a newbie and a n00b.

A newbie/newb is simply a player new to the game.

A n00b is an idiot, can be of any age (but is usually new) and usually godmodes with enthusiasm.

The fact of the matter is that many good RPers are driven away by this whole system... so just point them to the stickies and all will be well.

Regardless of the newbie/NOOB difference, attacking a nation in character for an out of character reason (godmoding, annoyance, poor RP, or all the traits of NOOB's) is flat out bad RP and NOOBism. You can't declare a legitimate IC war based on stupid, frivolous OOC conflicts. For example, I think that you are an idiot who can't distinguish between IC and OOC and really doesn't give a damn about RP quality, but just wants to go start a war for no reason, however, that doesn't mean that I will spontaneously blast you off the face of the Earth. Please read the RP guide sticky in the NS forum. Specificly, the "Great Big Guide to War".

Well can I suggest you understand exactly what we mean by n00bism. Your definition probably differs.

See certain n00bs have been waging war on us and frankly its annoying. So we will seek out and destroy the n00bs for such behaviour. IC and OCC mean nothing to me as abbreviations so do not post such rot.

I'm not sure that it is OOC. If there are IC exchanges going on on the rmb and someone who shouldn't be recruiting in our regions splatters a huge notice or notices on OUR rmb it affects what is going on IC.

Prudence (Chief High Wombat of Dezzan) is a diplomat and peacekeeper but even she gets p***ed off :)
