Battleship enroute to Arda

PNN:

"At 1800 hours, the military released that Battleship Squadron 2 was enroute to the Region of Arda. The intentions of this are unknown at the current time, but the government of Phyrric has assured that there is no hostile intentions and a full diplomatic assembly is onboard the lead ship."

News is interrupted by a release from the Secretary of War.

The Clan of Dorn Riders was given the responsibility to spread this news by word of mouth throughout the region. As a result, a few million teams were sent from the native Dorn Forest where the Clan resides in to ride the region hard, and within a day, every single Orc in the region was aware and preparing for such an event.

The Clan of the Golden Sky was especially cautious, and ready to hide the entire region from sight with the Elements, Animals, and Nature at their quickest fingertips, as Arda had the greatest defense in the world, one which required no soldier to operate; the region fought for itself.

Several Ritual Circles, some 50-100 feet in diameter, had been drawn in chalk rocks for defensive incantations which would be intensified by the Ardan Ley Lines. The Clan of the Dark Circle, though smallest, needed just a few hours and could potentially wreck ungodly havoc that was undescribable for human words.

Though the Clans had no actual abilities to assault anything above the atmosphere, they certainly had more than logical methods in shielding the entire region from such a threat. It was a threat too, because the Clans were assured that the ship wasn't controlled by any kind of Orc, and that fact alone made it a threat.

Agent Delta leaned back and sent off a message. Just a tip from a nation watching Arda closely. You are asnking for trouble unless you plan on selling him a chunk of that fleet. And I don't mean just the ordinance. He then switched off the comm and went to bed.

Very little activity has been reported from the battleships. From any kind of surveillence, there is no movements of reinforcements or radio communications.

From closer observence, it will be seen that all hatches are still secured and covered. SAM and ASW weapons are not loaded. Barrels from the turrets are still capped and resting in their forward positions. Occasionally, light signals are sent between ships, no secret transmissions are given, just admin messages.

The fleet continues forward.

"This is admiral Vasquez from the Brotherhood of Nod's navy calling unidentified battleships. You have just entered Ardan territorial waters. Turn around immediately if you cannot identify yourself as Ardan or Metus forces. Repeat: Turn aroud immediately..."

Anton Slavick watched the battleships with one of the Brotherhood's espionage satellites in low orbit. He watched the Nod ships closing in on the unidentified ones. "Prepare Banshees at the nearest airbase for a bombing run on those ships if they do not turn around." he ordered.

If you wish to send a delegation to Arda you will do so only after speaking to us first and arranging a meeting. Oh, and when you come back, leave the battleships at home. We're not at war, last I checked."

OOC: Off the coast of ARDA?!

IC: The Air sent word and the Water raced forth to inform the Clans that indeed, a ship was coming. THe Golden Sky responded, and the region was an atmospheric mess as Air Elementals raced throughout the region, informing the Clan Leaders about the event. In the end, the Blue Hair Clan was given dominance over this interception.

The Blue Hair Clan was one of the lesser feared, but most respected clans of Orcs there were. They were a conglomerate of Warriors, Casters, as well as Skilled Specialists. Their name came from their domain, a deep cave within a special mountain, filled with rocks that could be crushed to form dye. It was this clan's custom to use this dye on every single member. As a result, it was clear to anyone of which clan the Orc belonged in by their deep navy blue hair, as opposed from the natural orange color.

Three Hundred Orcs rode out on their dorns towards the beaches, all of them armed in one way of another. No one would step foot on this region without their liking of it.

"From here, it looks like some sort of invasion," Nukjyalov said. "But that is a shitty excuse for a force."

"No," Aerostalvich said. "There is diplomatic personell on board. The Radio guy picked it up."

"Why would they use battleships?" Blomberg wondered aloud.

"I don't know, but I'm calling Reaven." Aerostalvich then went to the phone and called him.

A small probe, which was unmarked, almost invisible, and about a third the size of your average molocule drifted past.
It went 'ping'.
The 'ping' traveled about a milimeter before it entered hyperspace.
Quite a long way away several people in a listening post floating in the middle of nowhere heard the 'ping', their computer mulled it over a few times and put the translation in visual form.
One of the crew picked up a device similar to the probe, only much, much larger and spoke.
Yet further away a man on Earth picked up a device similar to the device that was similar to the probe, and listened.
He picked up a device which was strikingly similar to a pen (Which it, in fact, was) and wrote something down.
He put the note into a cylinder, and put the cylinder into another, much longer cylinder, which whisked it away toward another set of offices.
There a clerk read it, the clerk, after eating his lunch, walked to his superiors office, and gave it to him.
The superior then gave it to his superior, who handed it off to a messenger.
The messenger took the cylinder down the road to another, much more important building with more guards around it, and handed it to another messenger.
This messenger ran up a few flights of stairs, and then noticed an gravtube. He stepped in and floated the rest of the way to the top of the building.
He then handed the cylinder to the Minister of Intelligence's secretary, who was just finishing her lunch.
There was a brief conversation and some nodding.
A short while later the secretary walked into the Ministers office and handed him the cylinder, which he opened.
He read the note.
"Meh, let them deal with it, Im tired and I think Ill retire early."
He threw the note into a nearby garbage can.
A few hours later the janitor picked the can up and walked out, on his way to the dumpster the note fell out near the desk of a junior Intelligence officer who picked it up and decided it was important.

Surprisingly few military installations could be seen above ground; mostly SAM emplacements and a few airfields. No significant military installations could be seen anywhere.

One thing that could be seen, however, were the ominous black shadows of the Imperial 2nd Gravitic Battlefleet, which arrayed themselves in a wall formation, sitting stationary a couple dozen clicks out. Their weapons weren't stowed.

Commodore Closimir Sarac dispatched a communique to the Phyrric fleet: "We're not here to engage; we've been dispatched to make sure everything goes smoothly. As the Phyrric vessels entered Ardan waters, the vast Wretchan coastal defenses all turned their attention to the intruders, awaiting the order to fire. Needless to say, Warlord Baldur Grimwald was baffled when he got the news.

"What do they think this is, some deserted continent that they can just cruise right up to, bold as day?!" he said.

"Shall I give the order to fire, sir?"

"No, we have received word that they are leaving," the Warlord replied. "As long as they leave-quickly and peacefully-we'll let them live. Monitor the situation."

"Yes sir."

"Slow speed and cross the T, keep a broadside but do not turn the turrets. Inform the Ambassador Team to ready on the flight deck, they are to depart in 15 minutes. We still have hostilities in the area."

"This sure was an interesting adventure we have embarked on sir. Our scan revealed nothing but absolute wastelands, who in the hell would want to live here?"

"I think you said it quite nice...hell. Send this reply to the Hithlum: 'message received, prepare to receive team on our mark. Stand down weapons as we have none targeted. Conditions are understood, ambassadors into a new region are always escorted by a Flag Command.'"

Out from the covered holder on the flight deck of the PRN 103 BBG Antipater, a 6 man craft is pushed out and preped for departure. The cooling exhausts let out a flash of vapors as the engines fire up. One individual in a blue and gold cloak steps up from the lower decks and climbs onboard the craft. Shortly after, 5 more individuals dressed similar but in blue and silver, same pattern, same design, climbs onboard the craft.

For what visuals one would receive when looking at Arda as a region, they'd be rather surprised to notice that, besides the Icelands to the north, and the Deserts to the East, most of the region is not a wasteland, but a rejuvinated landscape, complete with the most fertile of soil, with huge grasslands with roaming Dorn, giant forests filled with wildlife, and mountains covered with rich cropfields, clean air, without smog, pollution, or fossil fuels contaminating it, an pure rivers flowing throughout the region, with water so clean that any animal could drink right out of it.

Sarac stood on the deck of the Hitlum, and peered through the darkness at the beacons of the Phyrric ships. They appeared to be decent ships by Imperial standards, and he half wished he would get to watch them [and therefore himself] in action. He watched idly as a flak frigate lumbered past a few hundred meters in front of the formation. The Anti Aircraft impliments of the second fleet were slowly being gathered and interposed themselves between the Phyrric fleet and their owm; forming a neat, relatively spread out fighter screen. Gunships were added to the formations as they launched one by one from the cruiser, gathering in squadrons of three. The Imperial fightercraft accompanied by Raven class medium fighters: and old, albeit reliable craft.

Then, the fleets sat tight. Sarac could smell the anticipation. He could sense the excitement in his men's words. They wanted to fight. They always wanted to fight.

"We will be scanned."

"As anticipated. Keep the forward cannon armed, place the missiles offline. Have the guards lock their weapons, but do not load."

The cartidges are slapped up into the rifles as the guards receive orders.

"We have never opened dialogue with Arda before. What does this table hold for us? Will we leave in peace, or the typical cold shoulder that has been in existance?"

"We are about to find out."

As the Phyrric vessel closed on the Imperial Fleets, the fighter screen parted, creating a very distinct corridor through which the shuttle had to pass in order to dock with the Hithlum. Sarac watched from the deck of the Furnace as the ship closed in. The Commodore turned to a crimson clad aide some five feet behind him and gave the man a nod. "Return the communication now. Tell them the Hithlum isn't equipped to dock this particular craft internally. We've not got enough hangar space, for one, and even if we did..." he trailed off, and waved a hand dismissively. "You know the drill."

The aide snapped to attention and saluted his commander. "Of course sir." He scurried off, and disappeared down a hatch. Moments later, the Phyrric craft was escorted at last to the Hithlum, Raven class escort wheeling about to reform their formations above the ship. The Commodore walked leisurely across the top of the ship, closing slowly on the newly landed Phyrric shuttle. As he neared it, Haradrim marines darted out of hatches and various openings from the lower decks, surrounding the ship and standing at attention, wary for some form of trickery. One man drew from his satchel a small device, which whirred and beeped as it activated; affording the attendant platoon with a much more detailed scan of the ship than they had so far been able to attain. [ooc: so if there's any large explosives on this ship or anything like that, I should probably be notified in the next post]

Sarac folded his arms behind his back and hiked his chin as he watched for the Phyrric delegation to show themselves. The low rumble of thunder could be heard in the distance as an electrical storm raged, the bright flashes of lightning strikes illuminating the Commodore and his entourage for a split second at a time.

This would be interesting.

"Ae Gihael Orka!"

There was a lot of things that one has never thought of before, as there are a lot of different ways to achieve a single goal. The ocean had its own charm, in a way, for all kinds of people and races to engineer and build methods of which to cross the liquid chasm, or to fight amongst its depths. However, in response to all these methods and more, not could really compare with the control the Golden Sky gripped upon it. The Elemental of Water was closer to the Lord of the Deep than anything else, and could topple and capsize a majority of ships while being able to solidify to battle submarines with relative ease, making two millenia of technology almost obsolite to a magical technique aeons old.

However, even Elementals had their range, and for this, the Druids and Beastmasters had the niche. During the Ardan occupation by the Orcish Horde, a large number of Draenei Giant Sea Turtles were shifted in, and used to fuel a devestating submersible naval force, already complimented by Orcish Juggernaut Battleships. These gentle-looking, but carnivourous animals, took an instant liking to the Beastmasters of the Golden Sky, and a relationship of understanding and training commenced over the years.

No longer equipped with the goblin cannons, as the technology was extinct, the Giant Sea Turtles have resurfaced yet again, bringing entire squads of Orcs on their shells along for the ride. Beastmasters have also been able to communicate with other sea life, and have trained giant marine mammals as their pets, domesticating them. THis was the naval force of the High Orcs. Mother Nature had betrayed humanity.

So it was, that a dozen Draenei Turtles swam outwards, accompanied by Orcs riding atop whales (2 Humpback, 1 Blue, 3 Sperm, 4 'Right') to approach the Phyrric vessel. There were 150 Clan Members from the Golden Sky, Dark Circle, and Blue Hair (mostly Blue Hair, the others played support roles in 'driving' the animals) on the marine creatures as they gripped the reins, and surrounded the vessel.

"Make it clear to them that an approach within 10 nautical miles of any vessel is unacceptable. We have not received any notice or communications of this. Prepare a firing sequence and bear the batteries to fire on my command."

Each creature had with it 2 Golden Sky Beastmasters, 1 Golden Sky Warlock, 4 Dark Circle Wizards, and 13 Warriors from the Blue Hair Clan. They wouldn't stop as they swam toward the Battleship. They had their own aims.

"The craft opens its gullets! Prepare the Walls!"

Two of the Wizards on each creature began to chant, and witin minutes, a magical Wall of Defense(lvl9) was set up infront of each creature, which glowed with a blue flourescent color, albeit completely intangible and transparent, to protect against the ranged volleys. It would act like a shield, so in effect protecting those riding until shattered by enough force. This is why more Dark Circle members were brought to reissue the incantation should it be weakening.

roflmao!

A completely apt reply!

Now, would you care to reply to my IC post (see above), and we can actually get some reasonably negotiations underfoot... (remember to tell me which side you're approaching Arda from.)

Two of the Wizards on each creature began to chant, and witin minutes, a magical Wall of Defense(lvl9)

OOC:
That's the saddest thing I've ever read in a free-form RP. Exactly why should anyone care what 'level' your spell is? All the required info should be in your description. All this shows is that you couldn't be bothered to make your own magic system. Pathetic.

OOC:

I'll have you know I did it for my own tracking, thank you very much. I didn't ask anyone to care on the potency of the spell, but I wanted to care for it, because I actually like to track how much my mages have been drained of power so they don't just cast 'til sundown. I realize how powerful my magicks are, and from my many many conversations, how powerful the creatures they command (e.g. Major & Minor Elementals) are, and what sort of balancing needs to be in effect for things like this to work out.

If you don't appreciate my clerical anomolies, then sure, make with the jokes, but that how I am going to do things; a bit more legitimate. Hell, in most of my characters, I actually do have full-fledged stat sheets and everything written out. This helps me not only with the odds and ends of the character, but truly refines them in what they can and cannot do, as well as what they know and what they know best.

So I apologize if my own statistical data insulted you so, but that just how I ROLEPLAY (And Rollplay even), and I'd appreciate if you backed the fu|ck off and let me do it how I do it. I've not done anything wrong.

A voice sounded in the mind of the Phyrric admiral, smooth and well-modulated, like cool spring-water running over sun-warmed rocks in the mountains.

You are welcome to send an emissary to The Empire of Kalessin. One ship alone may approach, should any others enter the mists shrouding our isle, they will be destroyed. If you wish to accept our invitation, instruct your pilot to open his mind to me.

[OOC: which direction are you approaching Arda from? - Kalessin is a gigantic island just south of mainland Arda, shrouded by mists and clouds. In orbit above, there is a gigantic golden palace which dominates the area of space above Arda.]

ooc: I am going to say from the East as I do not have a map of Arda to reference. The 3 ships came from the S Pacific Arena where the Region of Antiquity is located.

"Quartermaster, join me on the bridge wing." They walk to the starboard wing, the Captain closes the door behind them. "Now, listen, this is really f**ked up to even mention this. This is an area that is quite out of the ordinary in case you have not noticed already, so you must have an open mind about this and do not take things illogically, do you understand where I am coming from?"

The Quartermaster nods in acceptance.

"You will be contacted, I am not sure exactly when, but I was contacted not long ago...telepathically." Captain looks at the Quartermaster to see if he has any kind of look on his face, to see what level of understanding he might have. "I am not going crazy here, btu when you receive the coordinates and instructions, I want you to tell me exactly word for word and we will chart this course we are about to take. Is this clear?"

"Yes sir."

"Do not share this experience or the experience you are about to have with anyone unless we are called to an inquiry board. Some are going to think we have lost it....and just maybe we have. Let's get back inside and wait to see what happens."

The two men step back into the bridge.

"Quartermaster, take the helm" The Captain walks over to the charts, looks for the one that Phyrric was involved in with the UTP/Melkor War. The chart is old and dusty, but still has some useful information on it. He opens it on the table, straps the map flat, pulls out some china markers, a ruler, and a compass.

"CIC/Captain"

"This is CIC, go ahead Captain."

"Our exact coordinates please."

"Coordinates are as follows sir, xxx latitude by xxx longitude bearing 194."

"Thank you, Captain out."

Conversation on the Hithlum.

"Antiachus, we have orders to return to our ship immediately. It came directly from Pyrrhus himself" as a guard approaches him.

"The reason?"

"We are at war with UnAPS."

Antiachus turns his head "So, he has balls after all. Is he aware that I am still alive?"

"Not sure, but we got to move."

Looks at the personnel on the Hithlum..."care to join us?" Antiachus turns and proceeds to enter his craft.

OOC:

We're currently concerned over poor Aelosia's promise to genocidally eliminate the High Orcish race.

Your thing is kinda second tier to a serious threat of genocide.

The Quartermaster stood silently at the helm, gazing out over the tossing waters, his mind empty and receptive. Suddenly, he felt a gently pull emanating from the southwest. Less a physical attraction, than an...instinct. His hands absently began to turn on the wheel, and the ship turned with it, a thick mist gathering to shroud the vessel.

OOC:

Sorry, been busy - if you still want to continue this thread, let the Quartermaster continue to steer as his instinct tells him, if not, either have him break free, or have the Captain stop him!

"The Battleship 'Megara' is requested absence from the scene to enter Negotiations within this region."

"I will answer for this decision, let them stay behind. Keep monitoring transmissions and have the Megara signal home every 30 second intervals on all channels to Base Station Corcyra IV."

The Quartermaster steers the ship as his instincts guide him.
