Belem military officials today have announced that a replacement for the Bradley Fighting Vechile is currently in the works. Research has begun on a replacement APC which is also amphibious. This will allow the Imperial Navy to decrease the amount of assault ships used in beach landings and will allow an increased number of divisions to be landed.

The joint army/navy project has been aloccated nearly 30 billion dollars in funds for research. Researching and prototyping should be complete within the next 5 years, then Bradleys will be gradually phased out of the army Division by Division starting first with Inquisitors and Rapid Response Divisions down to all Reverse divisions.

Current specs:(prototype)
Lenght: 23 feet

Crew: 3, driver, gunner, commander

Passengers:10-12

engine: 1600 HP V16 with dual waterjet outtakes, tracked

Armaments: 30mm chaingun, 1 coaxial 7.62 mm machinegun. optional stinger or tow arrays. 4 smoke or grenade launchers depending on mission.

If it carries that many weapons and that many troops, it's gonna have paper thin armor. Look at the way the Bradley is. Its pretty much identical to that.

Would that be an APC or IFV? You can get ideas here: http://www.sinodefence.com/army/armour/type85.asp

Bradley M2/3s are by most means more advanced than the Type 85/89s; I don't see how they should be rotated out off service and into retirement.

The Bradley is amphib. The Type 85/89 has limited amphibous capabilities compared to the WZ-523 or WZ-551 (though sadly they are wheeled). Sometimes I wondr if the Bradley is more amphib than their Chiense counterparts.

The Type 90/92 (WZ-551) is so popular with the Chinese that it can been seen in service with the police and PAP.

The Chinese have a fixation with amphibious ground systems as most of their APC have this capability.

The Chinese still develop amphib tanks (like this Type 99 for example): http://www.sinodefence.com/army/tank/type63a.asp

It may sound crazy but it makes me wonder if an amphib MBT would be a good idea or not.

Bradley isnt fully amphibious if it had to be used in a beach landing it cant go for long distances on the water and needs a transport to land it on the beach.

So basically im just improving the Bradley to allow more soldiers on board 10-12 as opposed to 6-8 and a more effective amphibious assault platform

Here's more food for thought: http://www.sinodefence.com/army/armour/ifv2g.asp

For security reasons Belem doesnt have joint developments of projects that will be incorporated into Belem's armed forces but we can work together on a second project.
