Ruskkia's New Military; Anti-Gravity Airships! (large pic)

The Ruskkie War Office has recently released information concerning a new breed of 'airships', which will result in the Military's zepplins being decomissioned.

An artist's impression of the new airships can be found here.

The man behind the new machines is none other than Professor Edward Blankenship of Vendigrad University who came up with the anti-gravity device called the Blankenship Engine.

The Regent is said to be very pleased with the new airships and is allowing the techology behind them to be traded with other nations.

Offical Statement Of The Ruskkie War Office.

BUMP!

I take nobody's interested in trading for the new airships or the anti-gravity tech?

The military of the steel legion is indeed interested in this technology, our tanks and infantry are unequaled by any nation, our starships can obliterate entire continets from orbit. But atmospheric craft, that is something we are severely lacking in. Name your price. Money, technology, anything.

Hm, another person caught in the gravganking trap. Aw, don't worry, you'll be regretting it all soon enough. Particularly this one aspect of saying that your law of physics somehow dominates the universe is, what, godmoding? Ah, the good ol' days of RPing.

*Sighs* And another bites the dust, and another-and another-and another one bites the dust.

A) I like the comic

B) Please, if you don't want to deal with Gravships or anti-grav or some pie in the sky technowonder don't. Geez you act as though everyone must conform to the rules that you want...

The comic is good.

However, what I end up not liking is the fact that people go around claiming that their way of physics is the one True United Way of doing things. What we then end up is with people who just refuse to actually do anything else than just sit around and start comparing fleets. "Oh, mine is bigger than yous." "No it isn't, mine has this special ability to fire uber big plasma cannons and, and, and, uhhh, fusion rays, yeah!"

Sadly, that is how it is like now. Instead of people explaining their technology, they go on about this excuse for even Star Trek tech. With all this ganking, no wonder there only appears to be handful of nations that actually have just a blue water navy. *sighs, and takes a shot of vodka* I miss the good ol' days, maybe I could have made things better then.

The site is quite nice actually.

True, but I'm not seeing that here, and your first post reads like your actually demanding that.

Ah yes, but that occurs in most numberwanking wars around here...

Well true he didn't explain it except that they divised an antigrav engine.

I have just a nice blue water navy and I can name at least a dozen who do also. (I should also note that I have a puppet with gravships.)

Well, when you read something that has gravships that go out into outerspace to Pluto or Planet X, that is basically implying "Hey, my physics works all across the universe!"

Ah, I'm pretty sure I can name a few RPers on NS that have a blue water navy. But look at all the people that are running around in gravships, with the numerous threads titled "I developped the gravengine!" or some other obscure, far flung technology that could never possibly exist, nevermind operate outside the boundries of a country. But what the hey, I have a nice board to RP on, good folk who learned that having all these uber weapons and gravships coming out of the ying-yang is not how you RP. It comes from the heart and mind, plotting the plausbility of characters, countries, nations, as they react to their dynamic and ever changing surrondings. To the good ol' days *raises cup*.

Ah, I think I get your point but I don't see any of that here...he's replacing zepplins with gravships, not sending them to pluto. Really I think your complaints are justified to an extent, but you can't dump on the host of this thread for most of what you've just said.

Oh, and do think a metal based paper exists?
imported_Xen
09-04-2004, 07:50
Yeah, but it is always these "first steps" that the unsuspecting RPer takes that gets them in trouble in the end. I mean, before you know it he will be bringing up the singularity drive, and running amok with the Einstein-Rosenburg bridge, or some stuff like that.

Metal based paper, well, the only stuff that I can recall off the top of my mind that is commercially available would be tinfoil, if that is what you could consider metal based paper... Not too sure what you mean exactly.

Well...It was a bit of a trap there. I get a bit annoyed when people say 'that' isn't possible. Yet the rules they apply don't absolutely apply or are really just theories that may have to be changed.

I have yet to create a singularity drive with my ubertech puppet...and no plans on it.

It is called nipping the problem in the bud. I wish I had the balls to help stop it back when I still RPed in NationStates, but that is another story altogether.

The problem with most of this technology is the fact that it is defying laws all these known laws. The law of gravity is broken more often than break and enterings are occuring in a ghetto. Thermodynamics? Who needs that silly thing when I can turn brain off to all that scientific mumbo jumbo, and do things my way.

Oh, yes, there are sites out there that show very interesting examples of "anti gravity" (even if it isn't really antigravity, per se). However, the implementation of such units is like trying to make a jet aircraft run on a wood stove.

Oh well.

OOC: Hey, hey, hey.

All I'm doing is developing the steampunk nature of my NS nation, so its a bit of an excuse to have a little of sci fi.

Besides the Blankenship Engine is the only sci fi bit of the airships, everything else is good old tried and tested ww1 stuff like battleship turrets. The only defenses it has are the rifles of the soldiers aboard and the good old thick armour plating.

A jet aircarft with one or two missles could easily take one of these things out.

Besides the only things these are gonna be used for is transport troops and tanks, plus attacking ground targets and maybe other airships or zeps.

To the Steel Legion nation,

We can sell you the Blankenship Engine blueprints for the price of £1500 Ruskkie pounds, we used old warships to create the airships as cheaply as we could.

I don't really have anything to say regarding the debate, but I would like to say that I love that picture. Those flying "WWI Battleships" look like something the Wyrms would have built in the Good Old Days, when they lived on a magic-rich world and were unaware of the advantages of the jet engine.

Well, yes, I do. Unless, as I increasingly suspect, saving your nation from being overrun was an injustice.

If you don't RP here any more, quit whining about those who do.
