Oglethorpia - Kingsford World Cup 14 Bid Info

Oglethorpia and Kingsford for World Cup 14 hosts, to bring the Cup to the Emerald Heights.

All pertinent information to the Oglethorpia-Kingsford bid will be placed in this topic -- starting with information on the three Oglethorpian venues put forth for World Cup 14. Information on the five Kingsforder venues will come later.

Oglethorpian Stadiums

Amalgamated Stadium

Location: Megalopolis City
Capacity: 108,234
Year Built: 1964 (renovated 1984)
Home Club: Megalopolis City F.C.

In the heart of downtown Megalopolis City, Amalgamated Stadium is nestled in the quintessant manifestation of Oglethorpian capitalism -- fitting for the football stadium named after the largest corporation in the Bureaucratic States. It is truly a feat that the white-collar workers of Oglethorpia's largest/capital city can support their local football club as devoutly as they do with all that goes on in Megalopolis City. A conglomeration of skyscrapers and a series of multi-tiered highways, streets and raillines, Megalopolis City seems a faceless and uninviting urban area -- but it's citizens are some of the fiercest supporters of their sports programs in all of the Bureaucratic States.

Amalgamated Stadium didn't always go by that name. Days prior to World Cup 9, the company sponsoring it -- Kuruma Motor Co. -- was bought out by the Amalgamated Motor Division, and with the company assimilated, Kuruma Stadium became Amalgamated Stadium by default. A stadium that dated back to Oglethorpia's World Cup 4 days, Kuruma Stadium had fallen into grave disrepair following World Cup 8. Now just barely 20 years old, the-pitch-fomerly-known-as Kuruma Stadium was ready for a renovation so that it might be in suitable shape to play home to the Wonderteam's home games in World Cup 9 qualifying (WC9 marking the first appearance of a Oglethorpian national side under the moniker of "the Wonderteam.")

Debuting in time for World Cup 9, Amalgamated Stadium saw its press boxes, eateries, general seating areas and pitch gutted clean -- to be replaced with brand-spankin' new facilities. Fans hardly noticed the 10 Little Shiny Credits they spent on beers and other overpriced foodstuffs -- the smell of a new, clean sporting facility was back, harking back to the days of World Cup 4 when Kuruma Stadium was first built. Whereas Amalgamated Stadium's precursor only seated just under 90,000 fans, the newly renovated Amalgamated Stadium seated a little over 108,000.

That was in 1984 -- and twenty years later, Amalgamated Stadium's maintenance crew remains devoted to refusing to allow the stadium to slip into disrepair like it did following World Cup 8. Truly a world-class venue, Amalgamated Stadium is frequented by the dominating club Megalopolis City F.C. while the Oglethorpian Wonderteam isn't making use of the stadium during World Cup qualifying before sold-out crowds.

Consolidated Stadium

Location: Polyesterhampton
Capacity: 104,761
Year Built: 1993
Home Club: Polyesterhampton F.C.

Consolidated Stadium is the newest of all the stadiums in the Bureaucratic States, with the inception of the Polyesterhampton F.C. football club in 1993 backed by rich Consolidated Industries financiers. As such, a good portion of money would be put forth to build the new club a state-of-the-art stadium that rivals Amalgamated Stadium in size -- just under 4,000 people short in capacity. The horseshoe-shaped Consolidated Stadium sits outside the suburbs of Polyesterhampton.

Polyesterhampton has been the smallest city in Oglethorpia for a great time -- after all, a city on an island south of the Oglethorpian mainland isn't an easy move to make. Its citizens don't mind though -- their city is home to the biggest food production company in all of the Bureaucratic States. That's as far as industry in Polyesterhampton goes; the city is mostly surburban sprawl and agriculture to support Consolidated Foods facilities on the island. Polyesterhampton is so laid back it's citizens hardly care about football -- though when the Cup rolls around, citizen's ears are sure to perk up.

Sponsored by Consolidated Industries, a vertible behemoth of food in Oglethorpia and within the lower-left quarter of the Emerald Heights, Consolidated Stadium is a sparkling facility that represents some of the best stadium architecture in the Bureaucratic States. As one reporter put it, "Consolidated Stadium is full of graceful curves, pretty glass spires, and is just really really shiny." The fact that an immense amount of money has been put into the home of Polyesterhampton F.C. shows. Consolidated Stadium was designed in stark contrast to Steerford's Bureaucratized Stadium; instead of standing tall over the pitch and casting a show over the width and breadth of the field, Consolidated Stadium is more curvateous and lets a great deal more light into the stadium -- reflecting on the city's sprawling low-lying surburban districts.

Bureaucratized Stadium

Location: Steerford
Capacity: 97,605
Year Built: 1973
Home Club: Steerford Utd.

Bureaucratized Stadium is sometimes called a disaster of stadium design. No matter how much money the Bureaucratized Media conglomerate put into the stadium, nothing could make the stadium look more natural by softening up it's rigid lines, or take away the visual sensation that its seating banks completely obscure the pitch from any sunlight at all. An eyesore from the air and as you walk into the stadium, Bureaucratized Stadium must be lighted both day and night so that the players may be able to see the pitch that sits under the high walls of the stadium.

Still, in the wake of it's eyesore of a stadium, Steerford Utd remains a well loved club among Steerforders -- all of it's 97,605 seats nearly (or completely) filled to capacity for the club's domestic games. While Bureaucratized Stadium is an anamoly in Oglethorpian stadium design, it serves it's purpose well and seats an admirable 97,605 shouting football fans.

Steerford rivals Polyesterhampton in its all-encompassing laid back attitude -- Bureaucratized Media lays claim to having the only notable skyscraper in Steerford. The city has preserved most of its wilderness, and the prevailing sport of choice is hunting. When hunting goes up against a United Football League match, though, hunting always loses out to a widespread love of the game in Steerford.

OOC:

Actually, here's the information the five Kingsforder venues right here.

Kingsforder Stadiums

Bennar Salesde Stadium

Location: Toryo, Sterling County, Kingsford
Capacity: 71,248
Year Built: 2002
Home Team(s): Toryo Wolfpack (LEAF, KPL), UNIC (KDivAFA)

The newly constructed Bennar Salesde Stadium is one of three stadia used in the World Cup designed by acclaimed architect Noyo Hashimoto. It was build in 2002 and has been the host of UNIC and the Toryo Wolfpack since. It has held numerous big events, including the National High School Championship for two years in a row, as well as the most recent KPL finals and the opening game of LEAF's inaugural season.

Stadium by the Sea

Location: Thunderbird, Valdestower County, Kingsford
Capacity: 50,000
Year Built: 1977
Home Team(s): Thunderbird Rovers (KPL)

The second of three Hashimoto works, Stadium by the Sea has been described as the most beautiful stadium in the world. Named after the Castle by the Sea, built by hero Halifornius Tiberius in 1477, the stadium, build in 1977 on it's 500th year, has hosted the Rovers back into the days of the KFA, where they claimed 2 titles within it's walls. Designed to look like a sea vessel washed ashore, Stadium by the Sea's unique silhouette stands out against the glistening southwestern coast of Thunderbird.

TriNational Stadium

Location: Northern City, Folleys County, Kingsford
Capacity: 104,000
Year Built: 1998
Home Team(s): Elders (LEAF, KPL), IDEXO (KPL)

The largest and most famous stadium in Kingsford, TriNational Stadium, sponsored by TriNational Insurance, stands in the heart of Kingsforder Northern City. Northern City, though primarily in Kingsford, extends it's metropolitan area into Oglethorpia and Tanah Burung as well. It's sprawling metropolitan mass covers a diverse area of culture, which is what you will find in TriNational Stadium. Two languages are used for signs and writing, and it's a common occurrence to hear cheers and chants in 3, maybe 4 languages depending on the opponent. Truly an international stadium.

Estadia del Reycastillo

Location: Barcoenfuego, Condado Debajo, Kingsford
Capacity: 98,032
Year Built: 1931
Home Team(s): Barcoenfuego (LEAF, KPL)

The largest city in "Los Tres Condados," Kingsford's Hispanic district, is the host to Estadia del Reycastillo, or Kingsford Stadium. Barcoenfuego's relaxed population sits right on the coast, on the closest point to offshore Toryo. The largely Spanish speaking population is highly devout to their football, and is notorious for being the wildest fans in the Emerald Heights. A constant roar for 90 minutes thunders through the stadium and sometimes shakes the city, often breaking thin panes of glass or setting off car alarms. Of course, no one is around to see this mayhem, as Barcoenfuego becomes a ghost town any time its team plays, whether it be home or away, everyone is watching on TV or at the stadium. Barcoenfuego also holds the record for largest away contingent, breaking it in RevTerr during a LEAF match.

Eudis Byran Park

Location: Byrana, Trotting Pinwheel County, Kingsford
Capacity: 44,300
Year Built: 1989
Home Team(s): Trotting Pinwheel (LEAF, KPL), Byrana 1872 (KPL)

The final Hashimoto work, Eudis Byran park is nestled high up in the Byran range. Named for the local hero Eudis Byran, who led the friendly people to battle against the conquering Kingsforders, the park is designed to look like a traditional Byran building. The stadium overlooks the city of Byrana as well as its vast mountain range, and some say the best view in Kingsford is in the stadium. It has one open end and the seats only extend less than half the way around the pitch, so everyone can admire the breathtaking view.
