Status of Aerion after Catholic Invasion

Aerion

After the Prelacy, and the New Aerion Order party government fell when most of the party leaders went into hiding the government of the Junta came into power. The Junta is chaired by Field Marshal Tweu Eir Neu, a man of questionable motives. So far, nothing has been much helped in Aerion, and the Junta has moved itself into the Central Palace where the Prelacy once stayed. The nation is still under martial law, with strict laws dictating the actions of citizens, and severe limits of civil rights. Most citizens only receive barely enough food rations to get by, are sent to work every day, and must go right home. Permission must be required to go even between homes. Religion is still not free, as no one may practice their religion in public, but may do so in the privacy of their own homes. Mostly all industries are currently nationalized after the chaos, with some corporations still running as they were under the Prelacy and before but under the strict supervision of Army Officers. Aerion's people are not suffering inhuman cruelty as under the Prelacy, perhaps, but they are not totally free.

Field Marshal Tweu Eir Neu has effectively assassinated, or arrested most of the southwestern generals that had been conspiring to form a communist government. Some elements of the Communist Party have gone underground, but it is rumored there is now no central leadership of the Communist Party, as it has broken into numerous small cells.

(NEWS ALERT)
(Broadcast to National Television)

Field Marshal Tweu Eir Neu, an elderly man with graying hair, cold blue eyes, and a round face stood in an elegant white uniform, with golden bars on his shoulder, a rank plaque indicating his rank of Field Marshal, and a white hat. He held the golden Marshal's Baton, the symbol of his office. Standing at a podium in the Central Forum, he looked across the gathered crowds, many held back by army officers standing in a row around the stage the Field Marshal stood upon. Tied to a post near the Field Marshal was a man, blindfolded with a black blindfold, and dropped to his knees. His back appeared whipped to pieces.

The Field Marshal spoke into the microphone,

"This man is Prince Erue Wasterin, a sorry member of the Royal Family who thinks he could get away with criticizing the Junta, which knows what is right for this country. He is the second cousin to the "King". While the Royal Family remains at their estate, this man travels around attempting to cause trouble for our great people. This is what happens to such a man......"

With that he takes the golden baton, and bashes the man's head as hard as he can. Blood splatters everywhere, all over his pristine white uniform, and the man's bashed in head splatters blood all over the stage. The Field Marshal continues to beat the man, as his body falls limp, and lifeless onto the stage. The elderly Field Marshal looked across the audience, "This is what happens to traitors in Aerion. We will not tolerate traitors. The Junta governs this nation now, and no one will change that."

Most of the cities in Belem's way fell easily as most of Aerion's Armed Forces were extremely weakened after the war, but the Field Marshal Tweu Neu had quickly formed the Second Army under General Oeri Lei to form a battle line between the capital, and the approaching Belem forces. Around 140,000 men waited, along with almost a thousand tanks, and 200 attack aircraft. Most of the men had formed an entrenched line between the capital, and the Belem forces. Prefabricated forts had quickly been put up, along with walls to allow for better defence. Most of the line extended across the miles of grassy plains that made up the capital province, and in the east some of the dense forest that was part of Erwok National Park. A significant part that might have helped in defense of the capital was the Lotafra river, which split the central section of the capital city from the poor southern section. Surburbs extended for at least 100 miles around the outside of the capital with constant urbanization, where tanks had been set up to defend it. Another long river ran through the southern section of the capital province, another blockade for the approaching Belem forces. This river was one of the widest in Aerion, and the bridges had been blown apart. The entrenched line was just across this river, a mile back from it on the other side. The river had mines floating within it, and mines all along it to insure any attempts to cross it would be deadly.

OOC: heres stats for divisions
each division has:
25 thousand troops
700 Crusader I tanks(125mm cannon)
700 Crusader II tanks(150mm cannon)
100 Lancer tanks(railgun tank)
500 Paladin self propelled artillery
500 towed artillery
1000 bradleys
10 thousand infantry
100 cobra gunships
100 apache choppers
approx. 1000 support humvees and trucks
theres an independent supply collumn from the fleet so these are just combat troops.

IC:

The divisions halt their advance about 30 miles away from the first Aerion troop concentrations and the artillery of the 5 divisions begin firing insto the surburbs of the city.

meanwhile the fleet launches a strike force of 150 aircraft(half vampire half tiger shark) headed towards the city.
Aerion

Smoke flares up from the suburbs as homes, and commercial businesses are destroyed. Aerion artillery attempts to fire back over across the river upon the opposition. News reports broadcast the destruction of a Buddhist Temple, though abandoned, the propaganda reports of the sole military-controlled news agency in Aerion broadcast the pictures saying "Belem is the true religion hater."

minor damage to Belem positions from the artillery.

400 self propelled units open up artillery bombardment on the enemy artilery positions.

50 Apaches launch and begin to search the surburb area in hunter killer roles for tanks and other armored positions.
Aerion
05-04-2004, 04:34
Some hidden camoflauged anti-aircraft artillery among the homes fire upon the apaches. Civilians stay in their homes, but some groups of people can be seen running down the streets. Many fall to the ground in panic, some perhaps accidentally getting fired upon. A couple of the tanks are covered with camoflauge, others are taken out.
Belem
05-04-2004, 04:40
5 apaches go down from the AA fire.

Fighter jets are inbound approx. 30 minutes to attack.

Artillery continues bombardment on known enemy positions.

The rest of the forces and tanks begin to move around the city in an attempt to circle it.

-----------

Meanwhile in Belem Pelican Ultra heavy air transports are being loaded with another rapid response division and two more are preparing to depart via heavy Pelican.
Aerion
05-04-2004, 05:24
The army line begins to mobilize into moving squads of fighters, who flood into the city to protect it. Many are trained in urban warfare, as thousands of soldiers take positions throughout the city along with squads of snipers. Grenades are thrown at enemy positions, and tanks if they enter the city.
Belem
05-04-2004, 05:35
The fighters begin performing overflies of the city dropping napalm randomly through the city. (it averages about 6 bombs per plane)

The troops begin to spread out around the city(about 30 miles out like before) as they are advancing engineers cut off the water and eletric lines into the city.)

The bombs hit, striking many important targets inside the city, including anti-aircraft guns.
Belem
06-04-2004, 06:19
The 5 divisions have set up a basic perimeter about the city and begin irregular bombardment of the city i.e. instead of having artillery assaults constantly, or every 30 minutes its sporadic all the artillery might open up each fire 5 rounds stop, then ten minutes later do it all over again. Nothing for an hour then another volley of artillery. Its designed to be a psychological attack since no one knows when to expect it.

Troops continue ripping out all the Electric and water lines heading into the city.
Aerion
06-04-2004, 06:40
Electricity goes out in a blackout all over the city, though the military has generators set up for their bunkers, and the Field Marshal's personal headquarters is located within a hidden bunker. The primary headquarters is located in the Central Palace. Barricades are being put up as the army forces continue to back up toward the center of the city in order to defend it, in some parts filling the streets, and buildings. Though a few hundred squads still roam the outer areas of the cities, picking off enemies where they can. The artillery fire has already caused one massive 100-story glass and steel skyscraper to collapse, with a massive dust cloud blowing through the city streets as a result.
Belem
06-04-2004, 19:27
Belem forces dig in and enter into siege mode. artillery bombardment of the city continues with a few tomahawk strikes every day from the fleet.

Radio relay stations have been set up transmitting into the beseiged city: "People and Soldiers of Aerion you can end this now by dethroning the fielf marshall and surrendering to Belem soldiers. Just drop your weapons put your hands over your head and go to the nearest Belem outpost. You will recieve food, water and medicine."
Aerion
06-04-2004, 23:07
Around 20,000 soldiers have surrendered, and a few hundred thousand civilians. Though others fight fiercely, even regular civilians being armed to the fight the approaching army, and the Field Marshal's propaganda broadcasts through megaphones to "Fight the Belem invaders before they take our land, our people, and our pride". The outside of the downtown area is becoming in very bad condition with the constant bombardment. One of the smaller white marble domes of the central Palace cracked, and collapsed into the beautiful marble chamber below where a gigantic statue of one of the Kings of Aerion once stood which fell as well. This infuriated many civilians, the Central Palace being the center of power of Aerion, and considered the true "soul" of Aerion.
Belem
06-04-2004, 23:34
The civilians and soldiers are brought to rear areas where the newly arrived division has begun the constructing of "Belem Education and Re education centers." Where they are catorgized into three primary groups 1. Religion background(OOC: tell me how many christians and specifically how many Catholics) 2. Economic Status 3. Political leaning.

Any children in the group will be sent to school taught by Belem Inquisitors the younger children will have basically a full Belem indoctrination, the older ones more subtle conditioning.
In order to condition the adults Belem money is being distrubited to be spent at shops constructed and Belem music is played through loudspeakers.

-----------------

Troops maintain positions around the city not advancing in. Radio addresses are still transmitted into the city encouraging soldiers and civilians citing the great treatment those who surrendered are receiving. Catholic and Belem music is also being broadcasted as well BNN(Belem News Network) reports:
BNN Report:
"Imperial Troops today continue the seige of the Aerion Capitol in a scene more reminiscent of a barbebque get together then a war zone. All around troops can be seen playing cards, relaxing and enjoying hot meals as opposed to the Stampacks they had on the week long drive to the capitol. Casualities have been light, and the men are ready for a seige and the long haul if neccessary. More divisions are being called up and shipped out as troops are optimistic and ready to bring em hell."
Aerion

Many parents and families protest their children being sent off to schools, and attempt to hold them back stating that it is part of their "basic rights", and in violation of the laws of war to force them off to such places. They demand to be sent to safe Aerion cities, or at the very least safe camps within Aerion. None wish to leave hardly, perhaps a minor percentile. Those in the city continue to fight, and die. They continue to try to shoot at the soldiers around the city. The Field Marshal is bunkered with some of the Junta in an hidden underground bunker somewhere in the center of the city, it is assumed near the Central Palace though reports say a bit further away.

(About 300 million Christians in the nation, only about 500,000 Catholics left in the entire nation.)

At the city bombardment continues. During the Day one of the bombardment consists of gas rounds containing syrup of ethicoth(sp?) which is used to make people throw up and is extremely effective.

-----------------

Inquisitors continue schooling children in the rearline camps stating Belem has no laws saying that it is illegal to do so and that it is neccessary for a post war government.

-----------------

The soldiers who surrendered are offered the deal:
To Convert to Catholicism
To Support the New Government established
and they will be rewarded with places of high authority in the military and the government once the war is over.

OOC: RoleplayNote: I want to end this war as soon as possible. Quit dragging on, it is impeding my roleplay ability. I do NOT want a Catholic government in my nation, and have the right to such as it is my nation. I want to end this war as soon as possible, I had assuemd you intended to return the Royal Family to the Throne. You are RUINING my roleplay, and I want it to stop.
Belem
10-04-2004, 03:13
OOC: Uh I never said I was going to install the royal family into power.

IC: After 4 weeks of seiging and the arrival of 2 Divisions of reinforcements the 70 thousand Infantry, 7000 APCS, and 10,500 Tanks advance into the city. Orders are typical Belem Urban Warfare ops, thermal scan all buildings any buidling with people in it that appears to be non hostile will be loudspeakered to leave if they refuse tanks will fire at the base corners to collapse the building, if they recieve fire from an building on a block the entire block will be demoed.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 05:11
ooc: WEll I may just stop roleplaying all together, that is what you are going to make me do. I tire of this roleplay. And I have a right to be tired of it. I do nto want to roleplay a Catholic nation, or be conquered by three line roleplay posts.........it is ok for the old governments to fall, but I want the Royal Family in power. Since I am roleplaying my nation, I feel like I should be able to want that, since I do not wish to RP any other government.
Belem
10-04-2004, 05:15
OOC: what made you think I was going to put the royal family in charge? I was going to leave the feild Marshall in charge but he didnt agree to Belem demands, then I was going to allow the communists to be put in charge if they agreed to the Belem offer, where did I ever mention the royal family?
Aerion
10-04-2004, 05:22
ooc: Well that is the only government I will roleplay. Otherwise I guess I will have to stop roleplaying Aerion or just roleplay the people's demands as best as I can. I am not going to consent to such a thing. It is no fun when you just can't roleplay at all.
Belem
10-04-2004, 05:24
ooc: well after Belem puts the government in you could RP a revolt or something.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 05:30
ooc: No, I would rather be able to roleplay the government as the Royal Famiyl soon so I can HAVE FUN and actually roleplay Aerion. Unless you simply do not want to see me roleplaying any more or barely roleplaying. I usually have high quality roleplay, but have not had the enthuisasm to do anything because of this war which is more OOC than anything. An OOC war that is preventing me from being able to roleplay like I would like.
Belem
10-04-2004, 05:34
OOC: well you know if you dont like war RPs you shouldn't of done something that would of started a war. Killing 700 thousand people starts wars.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 05:36
ooc: That was that government that did that because I wanted to ICLy get that government out of power, and put the Royal Family in since why the extensive Princess RP.. Ishould have just staged an in nation revolt to avoid all these issues. I am tired of this war roleplay, I try to avoid "war" RP, at least from my end, hence why I am just totally surrendering as best I can here but I do NOT want a Catholic government, I want to roleplay the Royal Family as a government, otherwise not RP Aerion at all.
Belem
10-04-2004, 05:39
ooc: you know when u have an OPEN RP things dont go the way they are absolutely planned. If you wanted to have everything go exactly like the plot you have a closed RP. no RP unless its pre rehearsed, has a definite ending or finale.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 05:42
ooc: Well if you are not willing to cooperate and somehow change the course of this roleplay, I am not sure what I can do, definitely not having much fun. I don't look at this as an RP war but rather a cooperative roleplay for the development of the nation, and good RP. But you just post war statistics and movements, which Id o not like. I like backstory, and what is going on in government. Not very much fun for me at all.
Belem
10-04-2004, 05:44
OOC: I started the invasion of the city. But Im not breaking the entire RP history of Belem by installing a secular government.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 05:45
ooc: Then I will simply stop roleplaying I guess. I hate to do so though, I have had Aerion for so long with a long history. I do not know why you cannot cooperate or I guess we can retcon the entire invasion by Belem or somehow arrange the timeline. Otherwise I can't see myself roleplaying Aerion.
Belem
10-04-2004, 05:49
OOC: Belem has no IC reason to reinstall the Royal Family, Belem had an IC reason to support the Feild Marshall, Belem had an IC reason to install a communist party if neccesary, Belem had an IC reason to install a Tribunal government it doesnt have a reason to install an old princess. After the invasion is over you could just overthrow the new government for all I care in one post, but Im not changing Belem S.O.P.(standard operating procedure)
Aerion
10-04-2004, 05:56
ooc: Very well then.

IC: There is some resistance in the city, but for the most part it falls quickly, or the left over soldiers attempt to run into hiding. The location of the hidden bunker may still be unknown. The large two mile long Forum has been crowded with people living in tents, and temporary shelters while the siege was taking place. Many people appear to be starving, hungry, or upset, and all in desperation. The rich next to the poor, living in the center of the city in squalid conditions. Medical personnel run around attempting to tend to the sick, though they are very low on supplies as well. Armed guards, and soldiers guard the steps to the Central Palace as well as tanks.
Belem
10-04-2004, 06:09
Troops and tanks surround the central palace from a safe distance, and artillery opens up on the building before ground forces move in for an assault escorted by Helicopter gunships.

--------------

Inquisitors are sent to Museums with 5 ton trucks to clear out anything that wasn't damaged in the bombings and transport them to the nearest Belem controlled airfield.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 06:10
One of the central massive marble domes, illuminated by battery powered lights, cracks, and collapses in a rather loud rumbling sound as the massive dome falls in. One of the other marble domes crack, and people begin running from the Palace if they can into safe buildings nearby, or even crawling into sewer holes.
Belem
10-04-2004, 06:14
2 thousand imperial troops and 500 Tanks are part of the direct assault on the Palace, they begin there advance with direct orders to kill anyone in the palace on the site.

At the reindoctrination camps the people who swore allegiance to Belem are recieving their commisions in the military, spheres of domain and the three most senior officials supportive of Belem are named Tribunes of Aerion and given full reign over the country.

The three men, General Asodi, Lieutenant General Rowin, and Major Rather begin meeting together to discuss the future plans of Aerion.

The Palace is mostly abandoned, though toward the center of the Palace was a military command center consisting of two Lieutenant Generals, several staff, and the Director of Military Intelligence.
Belem
10-04-2004, 06:23
Any high ranking officers who are found are given the option of joining the new government or being executed outright if the feild marshall is found he will be executed outright for defying Belem. Captured Soldiers are offered the same deal except they get imprisonment if they refuse.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 06:25
Most all of the soldiers agree, but the Field Marshal along with four members of the Junta are still in hiding. Most all of the sodliers, and officers state that the Field Marshal and Junta are in a hidden bunker that is known to no one but themselves, but may be under the city. It is electronically sealed as well to avoid detection in various ways.
Belem
10-04-2004, 06:31
Going by the logic that the bunker is most likely under the central palace which is where the last messages from the Junta came, Engineers wire up the Palace and after anything valuable is removed they implode the first level and the basements of the palace(basically just collapsing the floors) in order to destroy the exits from the bunker.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 06:33
The marble floors fall in, though no bunker is revealed. However, several tunnels leading from the Central Palace into a massive underground labrynth patchworked with the sewers, and other underground utilities is. Part of the underground tunnels seems even to be an ancient crypt.
Belem
10-04-2004, 06:36
500 infantry are sent into the tunnel systems to search where they lead to.

-------------

Belem troops begin to withdraw from the city to let Aerion soldiers take over and deal with the logistical nightmare of feeding millions of civilians.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 06:41
They lead all over. A practical underground city, with even three large beggars enclaves miles apart from each other. In the depths, the very depths, after beggar informants had informed the soldiers of the location the soldiers would come upon a very large very thick sealed door that is proposed to be the entrance to the hidden bunker. On it is a red O.
Belem
10-04-2004, 06:45
The 500 soldiers converge on the the door and rig it with explosives and detonate.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 06:46
The door explodes, and reveals within a virtual Palace, albeit with high technology. Marble floors, crystal chandelier, and even assorted servants with their hands held up. Through two locked golden doors they point are the Field Marshal with the Junta.
Belem
10-04-2004, 06:49
The servants are to be taken prisoner and brough to the surface. The soldiers detonate the inner doors and open fire.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 06:51
Inside, already, were the members of the Junta already dead, it appears by suicide. Their bodies laying there, perhaps dead for a few hours. Though nowhere in sight was the Field Marshal. Some of the servants said he "left the capital" some time ago.
Belem
10-04-2004, 06:54
The troops begin removing the bodies and the any valuables from the vault and bring them back to Belem command centers.

----------

The Inquisition and Army begins transferring responsibility to the Aerion army and the Tribunal.
Aerion
10-04-2004, 06:58
The Tribunal immediately orders the newly formed Aerion Army to secure the capital city as Belem forces depart, and to secure the Palace. The actual first order, rather than being for the benefit of the majority of Aerion, is to restore power and water to the capital city, and then to start immediate reconstruction of the Central Palace. Then various orders are delegated to the provinces to restore them to order.
