Treason In The Works!(Open RP)

OOC: Alright, I'm going to explain this a'fore I get started into it. This is an RP concerning the Allied States of Yolande-Roselle, mainly Yolande to start with. It will be an open-ended RP, meaning that I don't have a pre-planned outcome for it. I'm willing to let anyone join provided they can RP decently, type decently, and they ask before joining. This RP concerns a coup in Yolande. It will begin in the Yolandean Winter. Winter in Yolande is VERY harsh. Deep snow, sub-zero temperatures all the time, blizzards are very frequent, etc...

IC: December proved to be a very cold month, and December First a very cold day, colder than usual, even for this time of year in Yolande. When people moved outside at all it was in the warmest of clothes, and only for short periods of time. This made it the perfect time for revolution. Colonel Pero Stanimir of the Third Labor Regiment was planning just that. Stanimir was not the sort of person one would expect to launch a revolt. He was somewhat chubby, short, bald, and had a squinty look to his grey eyes. Add to that the fact his unit wasn't even intended for combat, and you had the most unlikely source for a coup that ever was. He had some tougher co-conspirators, however, such as Brigadier General Viola Nuray, who had the Thirteenth Assault Infantry Brigade under her command. Then there was Catalina Bodil, the First Aide for the Queen of Yolande. There was a number of others, and they were all ready. In three days they would begin.

OOC: OK. This is a prime chance for nations who wish to join at the start to do so. You could secretly send in agents after having caught wind of the impending coup, or something like that.

Ok, Ill stop hijacking your thread now.
Should I magicaly have agents assisting/planning to destroy the coup? Or shall I wait for a good excuse to join?

OOC: Just RP that you picked up something. Then either alert the Royal Government, or help the plotters. Maybe someone got drunk, and talked to someone in a bar, then that got passed along...

IC: General Francis "Frank" Alter was presenting before The Senate on the current situation of the Marines and their "programs."

"General," Senator Matthew Kelly began, "how many weapons are we exporting?"

"Well Senator," the general responded, "we have a lot of large interests in the world, and the numbers vary depending on the situation, but I'd say that we ship out one million weapons of various types in a year.

"And where are our current exports going?"

"Senator Kelly, we just opened up a lucrative deal with a rebel group in Yolande-Roselle for weapons and munitions. They're out biggest contractor right now."

"And security?"

"Sir, the weapons are shipped in unmarked boxes, through a number of countries before they arrive in the hands of our buyers. That's the way we've always done it, and we've never been implicated in any arms deals yet."

"What and how many weapons are we sending?"

"Whatever they ask for, Senator."

Harry Berg ran from the cover of an awning to his car across the empty street. He quickly unlocked it and started the engine. Any agent from southeast Trinis would have frozen by now, Berg thought as he looked out upon his white surroundings. He stepped out of his running car and walked to the payphone a few yards away, which he barely noticed in the storm. He slowly dialed it with his gloved finger.
"This is Snowman. Please put on Petal." Berg was glad the street was deserted, as he had to loudly talk over the winds.
"O.K., Harry, have anything today?" asked the familiar voice on the phone.
"Nope, nothing I've heard. But- I don't like this winter. Seems like something might be going on, and when it does, it'll just burst open."
"What makes you that? Hear anything?"
"No, just some strange feeling. Well, that's it."
"Hear from you tomorrow. Bye."
"Bye."

The Captain(OOC): You seem like someone who knows your stuff decently. You're accepted.

IC: Harry Berg, and anyone else in the right positions, would soon have a definite idea that something was going on. While extra weapons from foreign nations were being brought in, and the Rebels were preparing to launch their coup, a tense vibe arose all over Yolande. Various people, mostly Military, vanished without a trace.

OOC: Making a bigger post. Feel free to continue.

Harry Berg impatiently waited for the pay phone to open up. He glanced around the area, a warm department store. Several people were shopping for heavy coats. Finally, a women ended her conversation and walked away with a bag. Berg quickly went for the vacant phone.
"Snowman to Petal, please."
"How's it going, Harry?"answered Nick Junis, his couterpart back in Poznan, Trinis.
"Alot's gone on since we last spoke. I've managed to-obtain-some invoices from a couple of warhouses in the area." Berg spoke rapidly. "Weapons, from all over the world, are coming in. I don't have any idea who they're from, though. And you know Agent Journal?"
"Uh, the reporter in the Queen's court, right?"
"Yeah. Well, he's finding out more about the Queen's aide, Catalina Bodil. It seems she's been meeting with Viola Nuray, a Brigadier Genral in the army, quite a few time latley, alone. That is, not with the Queen. Plus, shes been talking to a Pero Stanimir, Colonel of some Labor Regiment. It doesn't seem right."
"Not at all." Junis said. "I'm bringing this right to command. Now, if Yolande somehow doesn't know this, we're going to have to figure out how to tell them this delicatley. Yolande-Roselle has agreeable policies."
"Better yet, figure out how to tell them how we know. I'll talk to you soon."
04-04-2004, 01:22
IC: Colonel Pero Stanimir had sent a request to the nation known only as The Captain. The message contained a request for Tanks, Armored Cars, and Artillery, if they could be spared. The message was coded. Meanwhile, Catalina Bodil had caught on that someone was monitoring her activities, and might have discovered her meetings with Brigadier General Nuray, and Colonel Stanimir. She was sure, however, it was someone from her own nation.

Agent Journal peered around the street for anyone near as he dialed the payphone.
"Journal to Pharoh, please."
"Journal listen, I've just talked to a colleague of mine, Snowman's counterpart. He says you've been looking into the Queen's aide's acticvitites." said Journal's counterpart in Trinis. "Great, job, but I think you should back off. We can't have you blow your cover."
"I'm so close to something big. Besides, they think I'm a journalist. If I do get caught, sure, they might throw me out, but there shouldn't be much-"
"Really, back down, just for a while. Will you?"
Journal sighed. "Sure, but I can't help but overhear somethings."

General Alter read over the list of supplies needed for Stanimir. There were some aging M1A2s that he could send over-- nothing was wrong with them other than they'd been replaced by newer ones. The general hoped that the tracked vehicles would work better in the snowy terrain.

Alter didn't know what to think when the request was for armored cars, whether they wanted military ones or civilian types. He would have a letter sent back with the Abrams shipment for clarification.

((I'd like to join this, and assuming you let me, here's my post.))

Five whitish-gray clad troops stalked through the snow, the crunch of their boots on the snow masked by the roaring blizzard.

"God damn it's cold." One of them muttered.

"Shut up, you can handle it." The lead man whispered over the helmet comm.

"I'll complain if I want to. It's not like anyone can --" The first responded indignantly.

"Get down, damnit!" Another interjected

They all hit the snow with a small puff, and watched anxiously as a pair of guards trudged past, rubbing their arms to keep warm. The two passed, and the commandoes rose again and moved on. One of them stayed on a small knoll of snow and set up a light sniper rifle, and the other four closed in on the garrison of the Thirteenth Assault.

((Details on the garrison, please?))

"...to which our delegate voted 'yes' on." The Chief of Staff finished his daily morning debriefing to the president.
"Good. Now, I understand Minister Olp and Director Jenkins are here?" President Michael Gillhart put on his intercom. "Please send them in."
A few seconds later Foreign Minister Gregory Olp and Central Intelligence Service Director Robert Jenkins walked into the office.
"Good morning, gentlemen."
"Good morning, Mr. President." Jenkins and Olp said as they sat down.
"So, what's the situation?" inquired Gillhart.
"Well, there are some suspicious things going on in Yolande-Roselle, a country not too far from here." Jenkins informed the President. An Agent-" Jenkins looked at his notepad. "-Snowman, who works in their capital, has reported a large influx of weapons being imported from around the world into the country. Also, an Agent Journal has been monitoring the activities of the Queen's aide. It seems she has been meeting with two military commanders without the Queen's knowledge. Perhaps a hidden agenda." Jenkins continued. "Furthermore, it has been reported that three military and four police officials have disappeared within the last week."
"What's your opinion on the situation?" asked Gillhart.
"Very possibly a coup."
"Now, not that we would ignore any internal turmoil within a nearby country, but, are Yolande-Roselle's-policies-agreeable?” awkwardly asked Gillhart.
"I would say so, sir,” answered Olp. "The current government conducts free elections, and the citizens have plenty of rights. In my opinion, anyone who would want to overthrow this government is probably not capable of governing correctly."
"I see."

**An island off the coast of Yolande-Roselle**

The airport was suddenly alive with activity. It was a long strip on a desolate island, a refueling station for a trade coalition which The Captain had no official dealings with.

The planes were unmarked, and the people in charge didn't really care when two AN-225s landed and the pilots got out to take a break. A "customs" official walked out of the nearest office and spoke with the lead pilot.

"Whatcha got in the planes?" he asked.

"Custom restaurant refrigerators," the pilot said and handed off some cash to the man. It was in US dollars, and not the Dubloons of The Captain.

"Have a good night, sir," the man said walking away and flipping through the bills.

The next stop of the pilots was to be Yolande-Roselle, but they were unsure on how or where to deliver the tanks. A single passenger was on the planes, and he stepped off for a minute and walked down the runway. He had an encrypted cellular phone, registered to another nation, and made a call to the recipient of the tanks.

"Where do you want them, and how?" was his only message. They could parachute the tanks onto a terrain, but it would have to be in an area of minimal radar coverage. The AN-225 wasn't easy to hide, and it had to fly at a low altitude so the tanks wouldn't be damaged. Or they could land at a discreet airport and unload them conventionally.
