Exodus (Martian Confederate refugee's arrive in Auman)

Auman
02-04-2004, 22:12
From the look out posts for miles around all you could see was the winding mass exodus. A dark huddled mass of Khristians had travelled mostly by foot from the Confederacy to the walls of Auman. Before being allowed to enter they would be searched, barcoded, scanned into the computers and be given their proper Aumanii name. There had been over four hundred shootings, eighteen hundred stabbings and countless other assaults that had taken place in the first three days of processing, the Military had been stretched too thin, an operation of this magnitude required the presence of three times the number of security forces they had available. The strain was starting to show on the men and women of the 255th Armoured Division...

"Hey! Brostin! I just saw a big group of Khristians jink past security over there" Tank Officer Denero lowered her magnoculars and pointed to her left. Taking up the reigns of the .70 cuppola mount in one hand and lifting up a radio mic with the other she yelled a terse command at the mob "Halt or you will be fired upon!". Suddenly, one of the mob stopped, turned in place and revealed a dusty assault rifle he pointed it and...nothing, it jammed. Not about to give the shooter a chance to clear it Denero ripped into the mob with the .70 Machine gun, when the dust settled there lay twenty three dead Confederates, amongst them women and children. Within seconds the military forces in the area were swamped, rioting broke out, rocks were being thrown and thousands more people managed to slip past undetected. Denero slipped back into her command throne and locked the tank up tight. This had been the third such incident this week.

Pact Forces Occupy Confederate Territories.

After tense negotiations, the Confederate authorities have resigned themselves to withdraw from their territories and exile themselves under Auman’s protectorate. And as the confederate forces surrendered and retreated, a massive exodus of refugees swept through the planet. The 2nd Outer Detachment has entered the territories under Grand Ducal jurisdiction several hours ago, evacuating the remaining confederate civilians. Some minor incidents have been reported. No casualties among the Taraskovyan personnel after the reaching of the agreement so far. Allied Pact forces have entered the territories under their jurisdiction.

Kajali forces have advanced from the west and occupied their territories as a portion of the Northern Confederacy has been granted to the nation of Bajon.

New Grand Ducal Fiefdom to be formed in occupied territories. The 2nd OD to remain for some time.

The High Councilor for Outer Affairs has judged it more reasonable to create a new Fiefdom instead of passing the territories under the control of the Fiefdom of Svarog. It has also been announced that the 2nd OD will remain in the occupied territories and will not be replaced by the newly formed Svarog Colonial Garrison. The Svarog Colonial Garrison has been recruited among the local colonists and already numbers 50.000 personnel and is fully under the authority of the Fiefdom’s Governor. It will officially replace the TNDF Colonial Force(8.000 personnel), which was under the direct authority of the Central Governement, within days. The TNDF Colonial Force will most surely be withdrawn from Mars or be redeployed into the occupied territories.

The occupied territories have been given the official name of the ‘Taraskovyan Martian Fiefdom of Dajdbog’. Reconstruction and repopulation efforts to begin shortly.

TSF Battlegroups withdrawn for repairs. Funerals held aboard the TSFS “Mechta”.

The 2nd and the 7th TSF Battlegroups have been withdrawn to Mainland for repairs and refittment, a TSF spokesman stated earlier in the day. Also today have been held the funeral ceremonies for the several thousand Taraskovyan personnel dead during the Martian campaign. Most of the corpses will never be recovered and so they were given a symbolic funeral. His Highness, the Grand Duke of Tarasovka was present during the ceremonies. Three minutes of silence have been declared at midday to honour the memory of the heroes.

They had landed a while ago, now, they finally entered their target...

Surprisingly peacefully.

They could watch the families leaving, hungry children crying for their parents, while they moved.

They didn´t care.

Slowly, the moved in, always wary, for the possibility of an guerilla couldn`t be denied...

And indeed, the first day of their move already included regional resistance, bombings, traps...

Still, it was far easier than what they would have faced had their been organised resistance.

Soon, they would arrive at their positions, basically taking what they gained.

"We are here on Mars, reporting the final move of DA paid forces onto the former Martian Confederacy territories. As can be seen by the chunk of charcoal behind me that was once a colony dome, the main parts of the Martian Confederacy surrendered, however, there is still significant resistance by remaining outlaws who do not seem to intend to move peacefully."

The reporter was a young, attractive female, at least one would believe she was, since she was entirely covered by an encounter suit... Mars was, after all, not exactly something where one could breath freely. Only her voice hinted at her gender. Arund her, few soldiers could be seen, making silly gestures, or playing with their assigned combat drones.

"However, specialised hunter units have already been deployed, and continue hunting down the last of the rebels, making sure that this territories will soon be safe... for all of us.

Back to you, Nick and Johnny."

Statement by the three councils

"After a short, but brutal conflict, complex negotiations finally led to a solution in the martian conflict, with the entire population of the Martian Confederacy becoming a protectorate of Auman, surrendering their territories to Bajon, Tarasovka, Kajal, The Vortex Corporation, and DA.

The Martian Confederacy, while being hit badly, will keep all its remaining space assets and capabilities, thusly giving it the ability to recover from the strikes.

The DA fleets involved in the conflict, suffering heavy damages, will begin their recovery period as soon as possible, however, due to the fairly high casualities, said recovery will likely take a while.

In any case, this conflict is prove of the growing capabilities of our nation and its allies, and we all know for certain: We will continue being successful!"

TNDF Colonial Forces withdrawn from Mars.

The 76th Airborne TND GF division which was also recently as part of the TNDF Colonial Force in the Martian Fiefdom of Svarog has been withdrawn back to Earth earlier in the day, along with the elements of the 8th Air Wing, which were also part of the TNDF CF. This morning, Svarog Time, a ceremony was held at the compound of Severovolost, in which the Commander of the Colonial Force officially stepped down from his duties and handed the burden to the Commander of newly formed Martian Colonial Defence Forces. The MCDF have been recruited among the first colonists to settle in Svarog and will be fully under the jurisdiction of the Governor of the Fiefdom of Svarog, contrary to the TNDF CF which was under direct jurisdiction of Vigvar.

The MCDF currently numbers 50.000 active personnel, equipped with up-to-date equipment and weaponry of TNDF standards and it is fully capable of repelling any full scale assault upon the Taraskovyan territory.

Elections of the new Provincial Governor will be held shortly in the Fiefdom. The Appointed Governor of Svarog, Leib-Duke Miloslav Karadzic has declared that even thought the situation on Mars continued to remain pretty tense, it would not hinder the process.

2nd Outer Detachment to stay in Dajdbog. First experts arrive.

The elements of the 2nd Outer Detachment have taken control of the former Confederate territories under Grand Ducal control. As the evacuation process continues, with minor incidents to be deplored, first Taraskovyan experts have arrived into the newly acquired territories to evaluate the extent of the damage and reconstruction possibilities. It has already been declared that, for security measures, new cities will be built for Taraskovyan colonists, while the remains of the Confederate era will be demolished. Reports indicate that the territory will soon be ready to greet new settlers. The High Council has not yet announced the candidate for the post of the Appointed Governor of the Fiefdom of Dajdbog.

No additional casualties among the Taraskovyan personnel reported.

MCDF 5th Division Deployed to Leithian.

Appointed Governor of the Fiefdom of Svarog, Leib-Duke Miloslav Karadzic has announced today the deployment of the 5th Division of the MCDF, or eight thousand personnel, into the Aelosian territory of Leithian. This measure was reportedly negotiated with the Aelosian authorities and the Taraskovyan personnel are to aid the Aelosian forces in securing their territories from any potential infestation of renegade Orcs. It is not yet known if this deployment was ordered by the High Council of Duchy or if it was an initiative coming from the Appointed Governor himself. The Governor has declared that this measure comes as a proof of improving relations between the Grand Duchy and the Sacred Sindarin Empire and will further strengthen the Grand Ducal position in the Martian community.

"Meh. still some partisans in the region?"
"Yes."
"Damnit, and I thought they would take 'em out without trouble... I thought we won?"

The other man shrugged. Both were engineers, and currently occupied with doing the math for the local Eye construction. Version 2.0, so to speak, some sort of test for the newest additions to their tech. Their speciality: Psychic engineering.

"This needs to be done in more detail, or we will have gaps in the field..."
"Yah. He... whats that?"
"Huh?"
"There."
"Oh..." Both looked in the direction of something strange moving along the martian surface. It had four legs and was running. Running fast. "Must be one of the hunter drones. They run all the time, to prevent overheating... nasty isotopis, inside of them."
"Oh, I see..."
"Shiny things. Psi recognition. Must be a real pain in the ass for all these partisans."
"Heh... Indeed."

Martian Orbit

It were only a few ships arriving. The repairs on the old station still hadn´t been done, however, the construction of a second was certainly beginning.

A couple of smaller vessels, about 200m long, arrived, setting up the basic infrastructure for the station... it looked like a giant cage in space. And slowly, very slowly, structures, some of them biologically, others crystalline, begun to grow...

5th MCDF Division,
Aelosian Leithian,
Mars.

- My Lord, the deployment has been completed. All personnel at their stations and ready to execute orders.
- Thank you. You may dispose.

The adjutant saluted and went out of the room. The room was situated in the command center of the newly built base on the soil of Leithian and served as offices for General-Colonel Biriukov, commander of the 5th MCDF Division. The General was seated by his table, on the opposite side of him sat several high ranked Aelosian officers. Biriukov waited for the adjutant to walk out and then proceeded.

- As I have said, even if the Martian Colonial Defence Forces are under the direct command of the Provincial Governor of Svarog, the order of deployment comes directly from the High Council. But you, of course know this. Our main task on your soil is to watch over all these Confederate refugees fleeing to Auman… so in case they try something funny, we’ll be ready. I have also been briefed that the relations between Auman and Aelosia are not at their best. I have direct orders to provide all available assistance to your forces in case of an Aumani attack upon Aelosian soil. And since we count as ‘Taraskovyan’ assets, any casualties among us will not only bring the TSF and the TNDF in, but also the available Pact assets.

The General stood up and took a bottle of vodka out of his desk, along with several glasses – one for every officer present in the room. He filled all the glasses, raised his own, giving an example to the elves…

- Well, to our fructuous cooperation!

He emptied the glass in one go and smashed it on the floor. The elves tried to follow the example…

[OOC: Aelosia,
Well, if you want to RP, go ahead. I couldn’t fetch you on IRC to add some more details to this post, so well…]

Taraskovyan Martian Fiefdom of Dajdbog,
Occupied territories of the Martian Confederacy,
Mars.

The first experts began to arrive shortly. It was decided that before any colonists would settle on this ground, it would be purged by ECTOS from any remaining Confederate ‘non cooperative elements’. And so, the primary deployment coordinates were designated, spheres were deployed, spores scattered…
The first growths began pushing through the soil on the next day. With all the radiation present in the Martian atmosphere, it wouldn't take long until the entire territory of Dajdbog became one giant jungle… just the time to wipe out all 'non cooperative elements', of course...

OOC: This isn't entirely how I would have it...Auman was probably pretty close to the truth. But if the refugees are traveling by foot, then it would take at least a month for them to reach Auman. It would also take awhile to pack.

I'm planning to make a post in a week or two, when my computer rights are fully reinstated. It will take place most likely before these events, and I apologize for the fact that I am not able to oversee all of this.

I understand that it is hard to move an entire nation, especially when the creator of that nation is not helping you.

But you also must realize that the Martian Confederacy is a special case, because it is a complex organism, always bordering on chaos. The Confederacy is very delicate, and you've upset the balance of power.

First the Khristian League. 90% of all the Khristians within the Confederacy live there. They currently have no governing body, as 90% of the legislators were killed when Aqualondë was nuked, and the rest with the obliteration of the Omega station. Since there is no governing body, the League is a power-vacuum, gripped by violent Anarchy. Radicals, rebels, tyrants, and prophets are all springing up there, some call for independance from the Confederacy, some say to fight the migration, some say to fight their brothers, some say to continue the fight. The Khristian League is currently the most unstable sector of the Confederacy.

Second, we move to the Toran(Byblos) Empire(s). (With the death of almost all the members of the Byblos family, the Toran Empire controls the Byblos Empire now, so they can be considered one and the same.) This region is the most stable and occupies the center of the Confederacy. As it is at the center, it remains the most untouched region also, and has the most industrial power, the most population, the fewest casualities, the most ships, the most military might, and is also superior in almost every other area. There will be some resistance, but not as much. The main threat is revolutionairies coming in from the League and the Clans. The Empire has enough transports to move itself, and will most likely dominate the rest of the refugees and form a true central government.

Lastly, the Clans. When you think of the Clans, think Fremen. They live in communities like sietches, have leaders like Naibs, and have some of the same customs. The religon is not the same, and they also have much more technology, but their allegience is to their communities, and so they would be the most difficult to move. There is no order because of central government but order through honor and tradition. But there are also revolutionaries here. There will most likely be geurillia warfare herelike the Muslim form.

I also wanted to have a seperate plot of land in the Vascillian League, but I will discuss that later.

I must leave now, so goodbyt until next time.

The elves looked at the Tarasovskyan with an amazed look, holding their red wine glasses still high. A tall man, clad in the blue armor of the Swooping Hawk aspect, took a step forward and asked the Tarasovskyan officer. "Was something wrong with that glass, Sire?, I'm sure we can get you another one if you wish. We're really honored to have you here, helping us to get rid of those fell creatures that stalk the red nights in this Eternal desert. And I have another question for you, if you don't mind, of course", said the elf in a soft voice with a smooth accent. The adorments in his breastplate was a clear sign that he was a high ranking officer in the aelosian army...

Biriukov just blinked. He didn't expect to meet such a cultural gap, especially not in alcohol drinking. Well, hopefully, when it comes to war, there are no gaps. How much gap can there be between pulling a trigger and pulling a trigger?

- No, no, everything is good with the glass. Ancestral Russian tradition.

Lord What a Sorrowful Morning

April 6, 2258, Gilgamesh, Khristian League

As dawn broke over the Khristian town of Gilgamesh, a man sat on his porch, smiling. He had red hair, black eyes, was about 5 foot 11 inches, and was of medium build. He stood up, streched, and yawned.

And so today it begins...

Today was the third day of the Khristian Holy Week. On the third day of Holy Week, Khristian churches construct crosses and exchange them(This tradition has been changed slightly on Mars. All Khristians make almost a pilgramage to the central city to exchange crosses. And Gilgamesh is the largest city currently in the League.)

The man walked inside, scratching his red head, when the phone rang. He walked over and picked it up.

"Rudolph Corbelli."

"Hello General."

"Are our agents in place throughout the Confederacy?"

"Yes, are you ready there?"

"Yes. We'll exchange crosses...."

Rudolph smiled, even though he knew the man couldn't see him, as he had the phone on audio only.

"Goodbye General."

"Goodbye Colonel."

The General, and commander of the Templar Gaurds hung up the phone and went about his usual buisness within the domed city...

*************************************************************

Outside Nargothrond, Toran Empire

Ra Tora exited a Clan frigate. His company had recently landed on Mars, and now would be headed towards Nargothrond.

He wore a black Toran military uniform, only isignia was a red phoenix on the left breast and the cuffs.

With him came his biological brother, Knalatos Tora, his adopted brother Omni Anubis, and advisor from the Templar Gaurds Colonel Hikarobi Unatou.

They made their way through the landing field, taking in the sounds of men and machines working, the smells of ammunition and fuel, and the sights of shiny metal spaceships, as they went to the maglev.

They entered the maglev and took their seats when a resounding explosion, and a column of fire came from behind them in the landing field.

As the maglev hurled itself foreward, fire swept down towards it , chasing it, and melting sections of the track. But this was no concern to nthe controllers of the maglev, as the fire was traveling slightly too slow to catch up with them.

But something else did catch up with them.

Four shots sounded from the rear car of the maglev. Immediately the six remaining gaurds took up positions in the middle passenger car, where Ra Tora and his group sat.

Ra withdrew his plasma pistol.

Why are they using gauss cannons... He wondered.

He looked around and saw that Knal and Omni had drawn their plasma pistols, while Hikarboi had drawn twin lasguns.

He smirked, and right as he did so, the door to the rear car flew open and hit two gaurds. One had his rib cage smashed, another his head. In any case, both gaurds were dead on the floor.

Gauss Cannon fire erupted from the cabin of the rear car, and four plasma pistols responded. A scream was heard from the rear car, along with the dickening sound of melting flesh. A gaurd was hit in the leg, and then the head by Gauss shells, he too fell to the floor.

Ra and Knalatos Tora both began firing their plasma pistols, and Omni Anubis sooned joined them, but Colonel Hikarobi Unatou hesitated.

The cabins of the rear and middle cars turned into a maelstrom of plasma and gauss, no matter who participated.

Soon the three remaining gaurds were dead, and two more bodies could be heard melting in the rear car.

And then the men entered, three of them, each with a tribarreled gauss cannon, all dressed in black, and each carried a Templar Gaurd insignia.

Immediately Hikarboi swerved and fired the lasguns. The photons seared through the shoulders of Omni Anubis and he slumped to the floor mortally wounded.

"You are captives of the Khristian League!" he exclaimed.

The scene continued but the Tora brothers were confounded.

Why the Khristians? What purpose could this be?

*************************************************************

Gilgamesh, Khristian League

Hundreds of millions of Khristians were gathered within the three domes of Gilgamesh, and even more numerous were the crosses which they carried.

In the midst of this massive crowd, no one would notice men running through dark alleys and conspiring in the street. Weapons were easily concealed, and Rudolph's men were in place.

And so it began...

Several hundred armed men stood at the edge of the crowd in Dome 3, smallest of the domes. They withdrew from their heavy cloaks monobarrel lasguns and began firing into the crowd.

Shreiks of women and cries of children went up from the crowd, but that did not stop them. Mercilessly they fired, mowing down thousands of people, but an example must be made.

The same was happening in more places in Dome 3 and also in the other two domes. At least 230,000 Templar Gaurds were now controlling a population of 230,000,000 Khristians within the domes. But not all were defenseless.

Several thousand fought back, but with inferior weapons. Blood and gore pasted the windows of the domes, but the fighting continued.

Rudolph Corbelli had anticipated resistance, and so he had issued his men gas masks and stillsuits. And so the gas descended amongst the crowd.

It was a sleeping gas, and would put them to sleep for about two hours. Reinforcements were coming in from several military bases in the nearby region, and soon Rudolph Corbelli would have an army of Faithful....

*************************************************************
Two hours later....
*************************************************************

All weapons had been taken from the crowds. They were rounded up, and naked, so it would be clear that they had no weapons.

But all were in veiw when the video screens came to life, and a picture of a red-haird, black-eyed man appeared.

"I am General Rudolph Corbelli, Commander of the Templar Gaurds, and you are under my power. Those of you who want to live will join me, those who do not shall be crucified, a fitting death for a Khristian.

"Do not think me a madman, no. I merely want to keep our land free from imperialists and colonists. We must fight, but only those who are loyal to the cause should.

"Those who are not loyal must be exterminated. So I give you a simple choice, join me and liberate the Confederacy, or be crucified."

And then the screens shut off, and people were being taken in for questioning.

*************************************************************

At the end of the day 170,000 crosses lined the maglevs out of Gilgamesh, and all were occupied by bleeding and rotting bodies.

Hundreds of thousands of more occupied the domes, and Gilgamesh was deserted by the living....

Then moved back in.

President saQaaolchoura finally got around to looking at the reports from Mars.

"Half the population of the Martian Confederacy has been expelled!?!" He exclaimed aloud. "Unless I misremember my Martian history, this has to be the biggest movement of people since Neo Pandora was destroyed."

He pondered for a while. Qaaolchoura had airlifted a citizens from Rainbowism at during the civil war, and taken in those citizens of Bananapple which did not band to form the sattelite nation of Aechdavaestan. And this was from the reports a far greater humanitarian crisis than either of those incidents.

He strode from the closest which he had turned into his office, down the halway, past his offficial office, out tthe door, and across the Mall to the Capital Square communications station.

Recognized immediately, he was permitted in, and escorted to the main room.

'Relay the following orders to Kawaash Nation Elect Ddilaathier saTilaath immediately:

"You are to find out all that you can about the history, culture and psychology of the citizens of the Confederacy.

"You are to offer all citizens of the former Martian Confederacy refugee status and should they desire it, naturalization within a year.

"You are to offer them as much transportation as we are able and permitted by the nations through which they must pass to provide.

"You are to offer food, water, shelter, medical care, education and access to the justice system to all refugees entering Qaaolchouraav territory.

"You are to disarm all refugees at the border.

"You are not to confiscate any possesions, and are to amke sure that alll possesions arrive with them safely.

"You are to offer all refugees entering Qaaolchouraav soil transportation to the nearest settlement which has the facilities to care for their needs.

"You are to begin trilingual education in Qaaolchouraav and the local dialect for all refugees immediately.

"You are to naturalize all children immediately.

"You are not to allow an refugees to take a job until the are considered to have recoved enough from trama to be competant.

"You are to find them job slots as soon as they are competant to handle a job without backsliding.

"If they do regress they are to be removed from the job, and given medical care immediately.

"You are to ensure that no ant-immigration violence erupts.

"You are to do whatever it takes to enact these arrangements.

"If you can not cover the costs, the rest of Qaaolchoura will cover it. ANd the return that they will give to society in terms of culture, insight, and productivity will far outweigh the costs.

"We will be sending trained proffesionalls from Qaaolchoura Proper, and her sattelites, as well as calling in proffessionals from our other space colonies immediately.

"You are not to appeal to congress to have this overturned"

End Transmission'

The last order was rather ironic, as it both violated the spirit of Qaaolchouraav constitution, and in letter forced him to comply.

OOC: Actually, this thread is more or less relevant to the following situations:

1. Refugee exodus from Confederate territories.
2. Pact, Kajal and Bajoni occupation of Confederate territories.
3. Cleansing of all 'non cooperative' elements inside of the Confederate territories by Pact forces.
4. ECTOSing of the territory under GDT's occupation.
5. Deployment of MCDF troops into Leithian.

Kitab took the message from Ketoba's hands and began to read it.

"To Kitab Il-Abar, Naib of all Naibs, Warlord of the mighty Martian Clans
"From General Rudolph Corbelli

"My friend, it is time for you to fulfill your part. We are united and have the Toras, and shall move against them soon. I have sent you a gift, 22 of the Toran Empire's finest hypersonics. I beleive the Kajali shall find them most interesting...

"Move with haste and caution. Godspeed to you.

"In His Name,

"Rudolph Corbelli."

Kitab Il-Abar smiled and put the message away. As he did so he heard the sound of aircraft landing outside his sietch.

He walked outside and fitted his stillsuit's hood and facemask. He grinned at the 22 attack bombers Corbelli had sent him.

Ah, we shall have our revenge yet.

This was an advantage for the Clans, for all their leaders were already gathered here, and soon they would move against the border outposts of their enemy, all they had to do was plan.

Ra Tora spat at Rudolph Corbelli as he entered the room.

"You know, the Clans would see that as a sign of respect." Corbelli grinned.

"What is it you want of me and my brother, Corbelli?"

"You know well enough. Your forces and your support, before you leave."

Ra Tora sighed.

"And what if I refuse?"

"You know well enouh what will happen, boy. You and your brother shall die."

Ra Tora smirked.

My people are loyal to me, they will stay with me. None will leave.

"I will let those join you who wish it. I can give nothing more."

Rudolph nodded.

"I understand. But surely some military supplies? You Toras surely must have some weapons caches."

"We do, and you may have them, just let us leave this accursed land."

"Of course."

Rudolph turned towards his gaurds. "Cut their bonds, give them stillsuits, and set them out into the desert."

April 11, Confederate-Kajali Border

The Clan forces were ready. A full 55,000 men were ready. Dozens of aircraft, and scores of vehicles were ready for this joint raid.

He makes my hands ready for war, so that I may bend a bow of bronze... Kitab thought.

He gave the order, and they moved. They had five targets, Charlie, M3, Cauntal, Meloun, and Delta. They carried five hypersonics with them.

The aircraft moved in front of them, and the mechanized units attempted to clear all resistance possible.

It had begun....

About 200 mio rebels (Clans) in the entire territory, about 40mio/ occupying nation.

Somewhere in the Ex- Martian Confederacy Territories

He was alone. Alone in the midst of the enemy.

Of course, he did look like them. Sorta.

Long live cosmetic surgery.

Still, he was... Different. He walked among them, talked to them, manipulated them...

And it was still a risk, for he knew that despite all of his abilities, he would be dead, should they discover him.

But eventually, he managed to get near...

To find Him.

And he reached out, with his mind, using the connection with The Eye to increase his minds range, to lead him... He stroked it, mentally, and it reacted in kind, serving him.

And then he was in his mind, in the mind of Rudolph Corbelli, forming words in it. Thoughts, ideas.

I could kill you.

I wont.

But we have an offer for you.

Come to this place. Images flashed in Rudolph Corbelli`s mind, he remembered the place.

Come at this time. Again, images flooding him... He remembered the time.

We will be there, waiting for you. You have the choice. Work with us, and recreate the Martian Confederacy...

We might even be successful.

He he cut the connection, leaving an emptyness in Rudolph Corbelli`s mind, for a few seconds... until it was filling with Rudolph Corbelli`s own thoughts.

And then, he walked away, slowly... he had been far enough away, about a hundred meters, perhaps a bit more, so it was unlikely they would find him...

And he vanished in the people, in the mass roaming around him.

DAMa

The drones were mindless, and quickly speeding away, radiating heat while doing it.

A few of them had been destroyed, though, their radioactive cores would need to be taken care of, later.

Still, they left something else...

A couple hundred corpses, lying there... Rotting in the thin martian atmosphere.

The hunt had begun.

However, the attacks weren´t always successful... Although they did hit several groups of the clans roaming around, several others defended themselves successfully, destroying enough drones to make their enemies worry.

Still, the equipment and the lack of civilians the DA drones had gave them the upper hand.

And while this happened, the second Eye was growing, and more and more bases were build, the military increasing its presence in the almost empty land.

Martian Orbit

The two stations... Slowly, they increased in size, slowly, the repairs continued, slowly, they neared complation... Again.

Via Dolorosa, Act II

April 11, 2258, Kajal Mars Territory

The Clans were moving, 11,000 to a city or base. Sqaudrons of aircraft went before them, and phalanxes of wheeled vehicles sped ahead to eliminate resistance. The aircraft were to destroy air defences so that the hypersonics could be delivered, one to each city or base.

Most of the Clansmen were support personnel, supply carriers and deathstillers. But there were still several thousand fighting men.

And as the aircraft neared the Kajali cities and military bases, they let loose plasma missiles and bombs.

April 11, 2258, Mine #223

It was early Easter morning and the Tora brothers were preparing to leave. Their stillsuits were fitted on them, and their Marpaks on their backs. They began walking out of their menial quarters and down the mines.

"I wonder how Mr. Corbelli aquired such knowledge about us," asked Knalatos Tora.

"We haven't heard anything from Xero in a few days...."

Then Corbelli and his entourage met them in the halls.

"So you're leaving?" he asked.

Neither answered.

"I see, your brother will be disappointed, but you have aided the Cause." He smiled.

How does this man know our thoughts? Ra asked himself.

A messanger came running down the hall.

"He is risen."

"He is risen indeed. What news do you bring?"

"The last of the Unfaithful are attempting to move out of the territory and go to the Qaaolchouraav colony."

"Harras them. Kill as many as possible. We will teach them to be Unfaithful."

The Toras and Corbelli's vangaurd parted company.

*************************************************************
April 11, 2258, Mine #223's Main Hall

The Easter service was over. After three hours of preaching, three hours of choral anthems, and three hours of other activites, it was over.

General Rudolph Corbelli walked up to the make-shift pulpit and stood there, the microphone there waiting to amplify his voice.

Then he spoke.

"We are a blessed people," he began. "We are people of God and God will deliver us, but I say, do not wait for that deliverence, for I am that deliverence. God has chosen me to judge you and lead the Faithful. I am God's justice. I am a servant of God. Believe in me and you believe in him.

"But beware the false prophets! Those who say 'We should forgive out enemies' for this time it is not so. We will forgive them in time, but this is a time for war, and war we shall have!

"Let us be the Gideons, the Samsons, the Johnathans, the Davids, the Esthers, the Joshuas, the Samuels, the Sauls, the Debroahs, the Ehuds, the Judas Maccabeuses, the Zealots of our time. Let us drive out the enemy, and reestablish our kingdom, so that we may glorify him.

"Let us not only fight for ourselves, but for all those enslaved by colonial tyranny! But most importantly, we fight for God's victory!"

And a chant came up from the crowd, screaming "God's Victory! God's Victory!"and " Hosanna in the Highest! Blessed is he who dies in the name of the Lord!"

As Rudolph stepped down from the pulpit and returned to the floor of the massive room he was gripped by something. He was frigthened at first and struggled, but he realized what it was and that there was no escape unless the sender stopped or was dead.

I could kill you.

Out of my head, Der Angstian. You will not kill me.

I won't. That was almost in a questioning tone.

But we have an offer for you.

Amuse me, telepath.

Come to this place.

Images flashed through his head, he stored them. By now he had silenced his thoughts and merely took it in.

Come at this time.

The time flashed in his mind like an alarm clock, it was remembered.

We will be there, waiting for you. You have the choice. Work with us and recreate the Martian Confederacy...

Interesting proposition.

We might even be successful.

Perhaps so.

And Rudolph Corbelli smirked as the connection was severed his mind returned to an elevated state of activity, chruning over the possibilities.

This could be quite amusing.

April 11, 2258, Mine #57

It had been two days since the 40,000 people had reached the mines, and since then it had been quite peaceful. It made no matter that they were in the section of the Confederacy that was occupied by Der Angst. No, they went about their business, going to the Easter services, and eating their meals.

It was a smaller settlement and could be breached at this point by any mediocre force, but it was close to the Der Angstian drones. And so the hunter-seekers came.

The drones overpowered the gaurds and killedd them, but the klaxons wailed anyways. Men rushed and grabbed their lasguns and gauss cannons, most forgetting their stillsuits.

They encountered the drones, about 40 of them. The drones had already inflicted twice their number in casualties, and none of them had been phased.

The men of this provisional police force fired their weapons, several of them hitting drones and damaging them, some superfically, others severely. But they came into a range where the weapons were of no use.

*************************************************************

April 11, 2258

The S/K-1300's sped along the maglev lines, their pilots eagerly waiting the easy targets that they were accerlating towards. They were 300 meters out of range from the trains, 200 now, and after a few seconds, 100. They soon closed the rest of the gap.

Plasma missiles went forth and lasguns laced out, entire trains were eradicated and hundreds of people lost.

There were people moving by foot, car, and gravtransport too. Fighters moved upon these, and the results were the same, but more destructive on those moving by foot, which was most of them.

Plasma bombs killed hundreds at a time, and the lasguns sliced through dozens.

It was merely another slaughter in this war. But this slaughter would be known as the Via Dolorosa, The Way of Suffering.

While the advertising begun, the constructions continued.

The Eye was growing, soon, its CPU could be connected... She was already there, waiting for the great day she would join with it... to become something greater. Although... A part of her disliked it, she was young, barely twenty, and a part of her would miss it... her 'normal' life...

But then, what awaited her was... 'better'.

And with the construction of The Eye, the construction of buildings, underground and on the surface, of cities, of more and more things begun. Due to the lack of actually active rebel groups, the work continued smoothly.

Soon, the first new colonists would arrive. The only problem, remaining constructions of the Martian Confederacy, would soon be solved. God save the demolition units...

In orbit, things were... less smooth. Mainly due to the fact that repairing a space station is far from being easy. As a matter of fact, it was 'f*cking hard', as workers of previous generations would have put it.

The modern generation didn´t do it, though. Mindless drones, barely sentient, did most of the work, programmed and 'sort of' controlled by a couple dozen operators.

However, one had to admit that their swearing was worth the swearing of all the earlier generations of construction workers. One liaison officer coming out of their room was certainly willing to witness this fact.

"Holy machine..."
"What is it?"
"A part of the old station broke away. Uninhabited, luckily, but still... It looks like a drone malfunctioned, went berserk or something..."
"Oh, shit..."
"Yeah, and you should listen to the operators." He shuddered, remembering it. "I was sure they would kill someone for it, no matter who..."
"Heh... well, looks like you escaped."
"Indeed... Although I`m wondering about the drone. They shouldn´t do this, normally."
"Yeah. Well, a bug in the software, I presume... Or they just loaded the wrong OS. Imagine a combat drone mind in a construction drone..."
"Meh. Would be fun..."

The two didn`t know that their hypothesis was indeed correct. It had been a combat drone mind in a construction drone.

The defenses of Sirenum Kajurmari sprang to life, spitting massive amounts of plasma up into the air at the aircraft that had suddenly appeared. On the ground, hidden turrets rose from their bunkers, pointed securely at the enemy.

The defensive batteries on the targetted domes let out a wall of flak to destroy the bombs and plasma missiles, but not all would be destroyed or stopped.

The first bomb to impact hit one of the largest Kajali cities in the region, killing thousands of women and children, while the military bases themselves remained undamaged for the most part, thanks to their advanced shielding.

Over a hundred thousand soldiers had been mobilized once more, and tanks and gunships descended upon the Rebel forces.

Kitab Il-Abar looked out from one of the APC's and smiled.

They don't make a move to come out to attack us, they sit behind their defences.... Mobility wins desert wars.

But then he looked back to the battle display in the APC and saw Kajali troops coming out to meet them for battle.

He tapped the Clansman in charge of communication on the shoulder.

"Have Legions 3 and 4 meet the enemy ground troops, dispatch Panzer Groups 8 and 9 as their support."

The APC stopped and Kitab jumped out, six men coming out from the side panels of the vehicle.

"Bring the anti-fighter defenses online, and prepare for hand-to-hand combat. Load the first five hypersonics."

Anti-fighter weaponry went active on the hull of the Eternal Vigilence and the other ships followed suite. Fighters, corvettes, and Upholders went forth from carriers and capital ships. Several Clan frigates went with them.

The Toran vessels opened fire, the Upholders unleashing plasma bombs and pulse cannons into the ex-Confederate vessels. Toran fighters danced about easily destroying many of the Ex-Confederate vessels.

The fight would be an easy one, the ex-Confederate's were battered and short of supplies.

Boarding pods unlatched themselves from the airlocks of the assault craft and sped towards the Eternal Vigilence and the other two dreadnaughts, the Everlasting Freedom and the Unfailing Vengence.

Knalatos Tora sat with 79 other people in one of the pods headed towards the Eternal Vigilence.

It's all I'll be able to do to keep from killing that bastard.

The pod thudded against the side of the Eternal Vigilence and Knalatos heard the plasma blowtorches start up and begin cutting through the 15 meters of the ship's armor... It would be awhile before they took the ship.

Knalatos didn't know how long it had been, but it had been awhile, but finally they were able to exit the assault pod.

He carried a tri-barrel lasgun, plasma weapons were dangerous inside ships.

They entered the ship, they were in a hallway.

"Lieutenant, take half of the men down this side of the hallway. Godspeed."

Knalatos went down the right side of the hallway and headed towards the bridge. When they reached the flight of stairs up to the next level, they ran into a bit of trouble.

That unmistakable sound, the most horrible sound in the universe was heard. That of a lasgun.

A man next to Knalatos fell dead. Marines instantly fired their lasguns up at the attackers, and Knal fired his.

Three men fell from the top of the sairs, but the firefight continued.

No one seemed to notice the blood covering the fllor that came from the dead bodies. No, Xero Tora had to be stopped, or defended...

Vis Hanti stood on the bridge of the Unfailing Vengence. The sound of plasma eating away at the bulkheads behind him was heard.

"Fire the hypersonics, Lieutenant."

"DAMMIT! DO IT FOR THE CAUSE!"

"No sir."

Immediately a lasgun shot went through his heart, incenerating it and cauterizing the wound.

Vis Hanti walked over to the weapons control panel and wiped the blood off of it.

He then pressed the right sequence of buttons to launch the warheads as the bulkhead burst apart behind him.

And the missiles launched.

*************************************************************

"Unfailing Vengence has launched hypersonics sir."

Raziel Corvegtin ran over to the sensors display.

But we haven't received word from Xero yet...

"Should I launch missiles sir?"

"Do it."

And then lasgun fire cut through the door behind them and the bridge of the Everlasting Freedom was a maelstorm of lasgun fire.

But the hypersonics launched anyways...

*************************************************************

"Unfailing Vengence and Everlasting Freedom have launched hypersonics."

"Smeg!"

Idiotic bastards! Xero thought.

"Ugh... launch hypseronics Ensign."

The door to the bridge collapsed behind them and Knalatos Tora stepped through.

Four men stood up and place dhteir ahnds on their weapons, but they were swiftly killed by Knalatos.

"Your coming with me you bastard."

"Don't make me launch the hypseronics."

"You wouldn't."

"But two of my lieutenants already have..." Xero smiled.

"BASTARD!" Knalatos brought the lasgun off and shot off one of Xero's arms. The dismembered limb fell to the ground next to Knal's feet and Xero Tora slumped to the ground in a state of shock.

"Aesir defense net online. Tracking..."

From the outside, Aesirgronde looked to be a tower of an outpost, but nothing more. But, once the ground started rumbling around it, it really became apparent what it was built to do.

Huge silo doors opened, the tips of clustered warheads rising ever so slightly so they just poked out of the surface, while the panels slid back on the top of the tower, revealing a defensive array.

Aesirgronde's payload pointed skyward, the tower itself looking more like the Sunseti Grand Cannons that would soon be visible to the south.

"Targets locked. Launching cluster missiles 1 through 15."

15 of the anti-missile missiles launched from around Aesirgronde, creating a spiralling helix in the sky above as they moved to destroy the incoming weapons before they could do any damage.

On seeing how many there are for a few (I'm rather curious), I've decided to remove them and send them to you via TM.

These aren't ugent, a lot of them are for a back story that I'm working on, but obviously they'd be useful for logistics. Of course a lot of the cultural ones will be of minor use in this RP. Perhaps future ones, but whnen you consider how often I RP (about once every couple of months). . .

The utter gall of the love-child. Ptah- was he even thinking when he issued the orders!

Throwing open the borders was one thing. The borders of Qaaolchoura proper had bee wide open for some time, and Martian Qaaolchoura- or Qaaolchouraav Mars as it was called conventionally (or Mauorr'l'laaq'ft' Qaaolchoura as it was called locally in the Kawaash Language)- had its borders effectively open as well. But the other objects. The other orderss were the problem.

Most galling was the last one. saTilaath was one of the few nationalists in the Qaaolchouraav government, and he had not gotten there by underestimating the socialists- in fact he had been a socialist himself until Qaaolchoura had dragged the Mauorla out of isolation- but he had been unprepared for this. The socialists had continally pressed for more freedom in all areas except those of a nation to determine its citizenship, economic, foreign, and social policies, since te socialists viewed them as infringing on the rights of others (They could in some cases- depending on the nation, but it was a compromise, an trade off, and he had come to prefer national sovereignty).
Thus the fact that saQaaolchoura banned appeal to congress (and shortly after to the courts, the cabinets, and the executives when he'd gathered his wits and realized the existance of that rather major loophole) seemed not only most un-socialist and corrupt (more like a member of one of the authoritarian fringe groups than a Socialist), but it had come without any obvious warning signs.

Ahh, but "obvious" was they key. Lauoqaen Q. Telaap'nint had won the presidency, and like all presidents adoped the title "Luke saQaaolchoura" after the legendary first president under two bihexades ago.
He had won with a landslide victoryalmost every time, and they say power corrupts. Five four year terms had enabled him to accomplish a lot, and it was obvious that anybody in that position would get full of himself. ANd in the single term in which he was briefly removed form power, he kept yhe name "Luke saQaaolchoura, forcing his hapless opponent to keep his own name. Even though his opponent, Saya naPiran, running on the "Limited Anarchy" ticket had improved the country immensly during his term, They say that power corrupts, but so too apparently had temporary lack of it.

He turned to study the orders again.

The first one was easy enough. If the Kawaash, Vallis, Ch'skyi-Pawyt'rella-Ie(Schiaparelli), Areaa, Qoaavaejii, Tojaavaeo, Sp'iY'aa(Sabea), Iyaar and the minorlibraries did not have enough information on the (Former) Martian Confederacy between them then there could be information gained from the rest of Mars for sure.

After that though. . .
Logistically speaking, if the rumors of hundreds of thousands, indeed some said a quarter of the population of the confederacy were trying for Qaaolchoura's borders (although he was sure that that was vastly exxagerated), held any truth in them, it would be logistically impossible to integrate them into society, let alomne care for them. He considered. Regardless of how many were sent, it would require all of the aid he coould get, and likely transform Qaaolchouraav society, at least on Mars, permenately.

The promised aid from the rest of Qaaolchoura wold likely be little, and the sattelites kept to themselves. He had no doubt that they would send a tokn and nothing more. He wondered if Qaaolchoura's neighbors, could be convinced to sell Qaaolchoura food. When one considers that the drachauq is considered an utter joke by capitalist nations, (the elimination of the electrum standard hadn't helped any), it seemed unlikely, for all that he had heard that the President saQaaolchoura thought that they might donate on good will alone. Qaaolchoura might pay the heavy price initialy, but even the President saQaaolchoura was right when he siad that the benifit [if] Qaaolchouraav Mars survived would be enormous.

It was a big if, although the President saQaaolchoura saw it as a when.

Rudolph Corbelli moved across the desert clothed in his stillsuit. He carried no weapons, no gaurd. He knew the Der Angstians wouldn't appreciate those.

He had been moving across the desert for several hours now, his destination: Izumoati, named after the Khristian Capital when the colonists first landed, it was the first settlement in the territory and it's name meant "Gate of the Night". Quite a fitting setting.

He could see the domes in the distance now. Their arrayed sizes and colorings.... Agricultural, residential, commerical, industrial, administrative. They should be empty now, but one couldn't be sure.

It was 0700 KST(Khristian Standard Time) and he was about thirty minutes away from the entrance, he would have about three hours to rest hear before his encounter with the Der Angstians.

The thrity minutes passed without incident and he approached the southeastern entrance into Agricultural Dome #37. He stepped up to the console on the outside of the airlock and entered his access code. The doors opened and he entered.

The decontamination process would take sometime... but he could wait....

Outer News Wire

Dajdbog granted self-rule, native toran elected as Appointed Provincial Governor.

Today, the High Council has officially given the newly acquired Fiefdom of Dajdbog self-rule. The territory will officially be under the Grand Ducal authority and jurisdiction and be counted as part of the Grand Ducal territories, but will receive a wide degree of interior autonomy. The new Appointed Provincial Governor of Dajdbog is Omni Anubis, a 24 years old young man of Toran origin.

Omni Anubis, adopted son of Zona Tora, has an excellent education and a considerable experience in diplomatic domains and is regarded by the High Council as the best intermediary between the Grand Ducal authorities and the native Confederates living on the soil of Dajdbog. Omni Anubis was recenty wounded in a shootout on a maglev line and was transferred to the Severovolost Military Hospital for treatment. He is expected to recover soon.

The Appointed Provincial Governor of Dajdbog will have the authority to form his own governement, maintain an independant interior police force and decide freely on the fate of Fiefdom from the inside perspective. The Confederate resistants on the soil of Dajdbog will be given full amnesty if they decide to lay down their weapons(or enter the Grand Ducal service and swear allegiance to the Grand Duchy) within the next 72 hours. The High Council has also stated that a special level of citizenship will be given to the native inhabitants(who wish so, of course) that will give them the same rights as to Taraskovyan citizens inside of the territory of Dajdbog. The High Council does not exclude giving the inhabitants of Dajdbog full Taraskovyan citizency once it is sure that the ex-confederate citizens are integrated enough into the Taraskovyan society. The relations of the Fiefdom with the rest of Mars, however will be subject to the Grand Ducal policies and regulations. The exterior defence of the Fiefdom will be ensured by the 2nd and 1st Outer Detachments, strong of approximately 80.000 Next Generation Forces troopers.

The High Council expects the new governor to stabilize the situation within the Fiefdom and rally as much ex-Confederates as possible to the Grand Ducal cause. The success of the governor and of his governement will be judged by the stability of the territories and the level of intergration between Taraskovyan colonists and ex-Confederate natives. The High Council has already stated that the Taraskovyan settlers will not hinder the native inhabitants and that the coming of the colonists will in no way provoke a wave of evictions and that the colonising effort will be done in the spirit of respect of each side.

Some analysts suggest that this move comes as an attempt to keep the situation in Dajdbog peacefull in the aftermath of the annihilation of Srebrograd by Kerathori rebels. Indeed, with a fullscale war raging across the Grand Ducal mainland, the High Council hopes to avoid any further conflicts inside of the Grand Ducal territories...

The fighters armed with the hypersonics were in position. Kitab Il-Abar smiled.

He gave the order and the hypersonics surged forth from the aircraft, their targets: M3, Charlie, Cauntal, Meloun, and Delta...

If only one Kajali city/base was destroyed, it would be enough......

OOC: Really bad/lazy post.... Forgot to put this in here somewhere.

The Aesir defense net, which had already been activated, started tracking the new contacts, deploying small drone fighters. Three squadrons were deployed, two to intercept the missiles headed for cities, and one to intercept the aircraft that had launched the missiles. The two that had gone to intercept the missiles would ram themselves into them if needed, and since there were five drones to a squadron, their success was likely.

Meanwhile, the defenses on the three military bases came to life, filling the air with flak that would undoubtedly stop the incoming missiles. If it didn't, the base shielding, similar to that of Aesirgronde, would absorb most of the destructive force, and the base itself would likely still be intact afterwards.

"In other news, the government has reported that it will be stepping up security in the captured territories to prevent any futher thefts from seized aircraft hangars and weapons stockpiles. The upgrades include the famed Aesir autoturrets, so it should become incredibly difficult to raid them."

The aircraft were less than a 1000 yards from the domes when they launched the hypersonics and were destroyed by the incoming defensive fire. The remaining Clansmen turned for home as the hypersonics went off, sending out their destructive waves of sound that would ricochete(sp?) back and forth between domes, the ground and other objects, causing such an intense bombardment that would destroy most likely anything, no matter what the shielding. It was the perfect weapon of mass destruction... the worse thing that could happen would be an earthquake or a volcanic eruption, but these weren't the most powerful hypersonics ever detonated.

Some of the withdrawing Clansmen were caught by the explosive force of the sound waves emitted by the hypersonics and were turned first to boneless blobs of flesh and then because of the intense friction of the sound waves beating against them, they spontaneously combusted.

OOC: There is no way in the nine f--- hells you'd be able to get aircraft within a kilometer of city domes without being picked up and picked off by border defenses.

Never mind that your prior antics set off the entire national defense grid, and resulted in widespread mobilization. Those planes _should_ have been dead before they even got a chance to launch their missiles.

If they are simply within Kajali airspace when they launch the missiles, that's acceptable to me. But within a thousand yards of the target is not. The defense net would have killed them moments after entering Kajali airspace.

Your little hypersonic escapades have been ignored. Maybe it has something to do with your repeated insistence that nothing in the damned universe is able to stop them, or the fact that you'd have to get through several kilometers of Kajali airspace to get near the domes.

Or maybe it's also the fact that the Martian Confederacy has been conquered, and all it's military assets have been confiscated, and weapons are going to be kept out of their hands.

It looks like I made a mistake in actually attempting to continue this.

As far as Kajal Mars is concerned, ADK Mars, and all of it's military stopped existing after your little fleet escapade. Have a nice day.

Well that's wonderful Kajal, considering the fact that this is taking before my 'fleet escapade', I just forgot to place it in there. And [b] hitting and blowing up[/i] the hypersonics stops them, though if you hit them after they're armed, they make a smaller detonation. And those Clansmen were in your territory before you stepped up security.

And also, you can ignore ADK Mars, cosnidering it hasn't existed in game for 80 years. And if you're going to ignore everything that's ex-Confederate then I guess you'll have to ignore Auman, Bajon, and Qaaolochura, since they have Khristian refugees. And well, if you ignore Auman, you have to ignore the Vascillian League. Also, Omni Anubis is govenor of Dajdbog, so you'd have to ignore Taraskova, and subsequently the Pact. And Siri is fond of Taraskova, so you'd have to ignore her, and then ToY which would cause you to ignore Sunset and Eniqcir which then causes you to ignore MIDAS.

So by ignoring everything remotely related with the Ex-Confederacy, you set off a chain-reaction that casues you to ignore almost all of Mars. What joy.

Also, several times when you said you were going to attack me, I warned you not to. I told you what might happen, but did you , listen? Oh no.... no one ever listens to Quin he's a warmonger and a godmodder

You brought this upon yourself, now quit running like a coward and accept what I throw at you, you bastard.

The drones, while limited in their armaments had suceeded to a degree, but out of five missiles, two got through, past the drones and past the defensive fire.

The first of the two that had gotten past streaked towards M3, a large military base that had formerly been nearer to the border. The defensive shields took the impact of the missile, but what happened next was unexpected. At first, the shielding flickered, but then it started to ripple, creating intensly complex patterns along it's surface. The rippling intensified until the shields themselves exploded, and the base situated beneath them crumpled into a pit over 200 meters deep.

The other missile had been headed for the small border settlement of Meloun, which itself was relatively unimportant looking.

Unfortunately, Kajal Mars had a tendency to perform research at such locations, because the likelyhood of discovery was so abysmally low compared to the larger cities.

Meloun, unusually, was also shielded, but not with anything that would stop a missile. The hypersonic punched through the shields quickly, and then Meloun crumpled as well.

Unfortunately for the researchers, their new test drive found itself suddenly destabilizing and emitting gravimetric distortions that were off anything the charts had predicted.

The waves lancing out from Meloun's hole in the ground were so intense that along the former border area, a large crack sprang open in the ground, damaging the global maglev network in the area seriously.

The reactors that had been powering the prototype gravitic drive ruptured under the combined hypersonic and gravitic forces, spewing their contents skywards, creating a cloud of tritium that would rain down on the lands surrounding Meloun. It had been the only way that Kajal Mars could generate enough power for their test drives, and now it was the worst research related disaster in their history.'

The gravship program would no doubt be delayed inevitably.

Over two hundred thousand Kajali citizens, scientists, and military officers lost their lives, and shortly after, the Kajal Mars government placed the blame on the ex-Confederate rebels for the destruction of a prototype fusion reactor.

There was no mention of gravitics, but Menelmacari Carnil would surely bring that up at the Duma.

The three Angstian representatives came a bit late, though their leader (at least it looked like he was the leader) apologised quickly enough. "Sorry, sandstorm." And after a second, a closer look. "You`re unarmed?" he looked at Cordelli, almost disbelieving.

Cordelli examined the Angstian officals. "And you expected me to bring a weapon? Not a very friendly thing to do, don't you think?" He grinned slightly.

The apparent leader, a relatively small man with black hair (Not that this could be seen, since it was covered with the (light) encounter suit) uttered a short laugh. "Well, considering the dangers on this planet, I would consider it a necessity. And we wouldn`t mind it, really." He hesitated for a moment, exchanging glances with Cordelli. "In any case, regarding your... movement, I think you can imagine that we`re not overly pleased with it... However, we sort of understand your position, and would like to offer you a... deal."

Cordelli cocked an eyebrow ever so subtly. "So I was informed....by your messenger... I have my own reasons, and you do not need to know those currently, at least not some of them."

The Angstian nodded. "I`m aware of it. And I`m polite enough not to rip them from your mind, too." He smiled. "Not that they are too hard to guess. In any case... I`m sure that you realise that going against all five occupying nations is sort of... suicidental, especially with a distinct lack of outside support. However..." He hesitated, again, looking at Cordelli, idly wondering if just killing him would work as well. "However, Sccording to... Confederate sources, the former Confederate territory wasn´t overly valuable to begin with. Why not... cooperating with us, to gain something... new?"

Cordelli smirked. "Well, we aren't planning to attack all five nations at once, that would be increadibly stupid. And the confederate territory is quite valuable to us. You must understand we and our ancestors have qorked hard to develop this land. It is ours and we will not let it go so simply. But you're suggesting something new, and this intresets me. Please, elaborate."

The Angstian chuckles. "Well, you could probably keep parts of the Ex- Confederate territory... or rather, get them back. Though I can`t guarantee it, since the matter of Kajal is sort of... complex. In any case, you could... border it. I`m sure you heard of... Syskeyia?"

"Yes, I have. We Khristians have had limited contact with them in the past. And what do they have to do with us?"

"Right now, nothing. Though this may change. You see, we would like it if you infiltrate them... I`m sure Dajdbog would be cooperative for such operations. We would support you with equipment and so on, and after a while... Well, I think you can guess it."

Cordelli grinned. "As I thought, yes. This might be doable, though it would take much work... I suppose you know how much we despise colonial empires?"

"I am aware of your history, yes." The Angstian nodded. "Well... Syskeyia Mars is a colony... The only thing you will have to do is to 1. Refrain from destabilising acts in Pact territories and 2. keep your people out of DAMa and TVC territory." He waits for a second, thinking. "Though we really wont mind you being in Kajal Mars or Bajon hold areas..." He smirks. "I`m sure you wont, either."

Rudolph Cordelli smirked. "I take it that the second act won't be effective immediately? And yes...the Bajoni Bloc and Kajal Mars might be problem for us."

"Well... We would like to see them gone as soon as possible... Except the ones doing the work to find a new home. Although I`m aware of the logistical problems... I`m sure that temporary solutions can be found." He hesitates. "See... the problem is not so much your people... It is just that we don`t want to be... accused of supporting terrorism."

"But are you not supporting it by creating it? You're pointless attack on us became this, and you created this problem. But in any case, the desicion about the Khristians still inhabiting the former Confederacy can wait for now." he responded.

The face of the Angstian darkens a bit. "We will... introduce appropriate measures to make sure that the problems wont... increase. In any case, can we assume that you will... Take care of your people, and show them a... new light? In the south of their old homes."

Cordelli almost smiled at the change in the Angstian's face. "Ah, it is a beginning, and I will take care of my people... Yes Syskeyia Mars seems like a nice place. As I said, it is a beginning."

"Very good. I assume that you will organise some... liaisons to take care of the planning. We have a lot to do."

"Of course. We should not associate too much, it will damage the image we have upon our peoples."

The Angstian nodded. "Of course. We wont show them off in public... And the ones operating in Syskeyia should be elites, anyway, shouldn´t they?"

"Only my best." Cordelli nodded.

"Very good." The Angstian smiled. "Discussions regarding the further organisation of this... things in a week, we will give you the data regarding the exact time and place as soon as possible. As for our... help, we will begin to organise it in no time. I`m sure your elites will be ready." With that he bowed. "If there is nothing else, I think we have reached... an understanding."

"An understanding, and only an understanding. But you must understand that I cannot garuntee peace forever in the former Confederate territories." He smiled. "We'll be waiting for your word." And with that, he returned the bow.

"Don´t worry. dissenters are a threat for both of us, and will be dealt with." The Angstian turned, leaving. "May success be with us."

Cordelli gave a mock salute as the Angstian delegation turned to leave. "But of course."
