Epsilon Pegasi in Civil War!
The long settled ERC (Elf Refuge Colony) upon the second planet in the Epsilon Pegasi system has staged a massive attack against the human inhabited third planet. Citing 'ongoing opression' as their justification, the system has degenerated into Civil War. Whereas the Klonor Space Coprs stationed in the system has kept the peace up until now, the collapse of the Klonor Empire has left the troops without a clear chain of command. Thus, each ship's crew is reverting to the most basic principles: "Insure the survival of the species." The formerly united space fleet has split in two, joining sides in the bloody fight.
The ERC was settled several hundred years ago, when a primitive nation on Old Earth embarked on a 'Racial Purity' course of action, attempting to exterminate all non-humans within their borders. The Empire, an enlightened nation back then, offered the Elves travel to and sanctuary upon one of the many uninhabited planets in the realm of Klonor. They lived their rather peacefully until approximately 3 decades ago. They wished to return to Old Earth and liberate the rest of their comrades, and they wanted the Klonor Space Corps to do it with them. When the Admiralty refused, the Empire had enough of its own problems without starting even more wars, the Elves accused them of racism and stated that we were repressing them and keeping them subservient. The military was able to keep things rather civil, nothing more than legal and non-violent protests, but with the military collapse all hell has broken loose.
Sa far the humans have managed to keep control of their world and the surrounding area, they have numerical superiority and a larger percentage of what's left of the military, but the Elve's are almost fanatical and their military command is fully united. Since the humans military command was in non-EP systems the loss of contact has severely crippled their combat capability, whereas the Elve's maintained their own commanders on their planet. The battle could go either way.
The outcome of this battle will drastically influence the Draconian-Rossian Alliance and the newly created Autarchy of Regulus.
We will watch this situation.
With a cheer resounding throughout half the entire solar system the EPHCD Aquitaine burst through the Elven ranks and swooped down upon the Extra-Solar Beam Transmission station in orbit around the ERC. The Elven ships, decimated from the long battle and now being preyed upon from behind by the Aquitaine, break formation and speed away in all different directions, seeking merely to escape the coming slaughter. However, they do not go far, merely seeking to survive until the main EPELF fleet can arrive to drive back the humans.
When the immediete vicinity is clear the Aquitaine moves in even closer, scanning the active Phase Frequencies to determine to code for the ESBT Phase-Gate. Finding the right code they open their Gate, sending through a squad of Marines to take the station and shut down the jamming in place. (There are two ESBT's in the system, one around each the Human and Elven planets, in case one is destroyed, yet they can also be used to jam each others transmission).
Broad Beam Transmission: All Allies of Humanity
This is Commander James Wisscox of the Epsilon Pegasi Human Coalition, pleading for any and all assistance. Earlier this year the long settled ERC (Elf Refuge Colony) upon the second planet in the Epsilon Pegasi system staged a massive attack against the human inhabited third planet. Citing 'ongoing opression' as their justification, the system has degenerated into Civil War. The formerly united space fleet has split in two, joining sides in the bloody fight.
We outnumber the Elves, both in manpower and ship numbers, however their surprise attack disabled many of our vessels before we could defend ourselves. At this moment in time we have broken the ranks of the Elven fleet and gained control of their Extra-Solar Beam Transmission station, however we can not maintain orbit over their planet for long. They will soon return and with greater numbers. Please, we need any help you can spare.
President Calimar smiled as he read the latest news from the Klonor Empire's destruction NavInt had delivered to him. He finished reading, then pressed the intercom button to his secretary. "Julie, I want you to call a Cabinet meeting, and inform Fleet Admiral Harris and Grand Marshall Hammond we will require their presence."
Within an hour, the meeting began.
"I'm sure you've all already been informed of the breakdown in the Klonor Empire's central government. Their systems have all reverted to local military control, and one in particular, Epsilon Pegasi, is in the midst of a civil war." The holoprojector in the center of the conference room table displayed a 3D map of the system. A red giant star floated in the center, while a dozen worlds floated serenly around it. "The first three are uninhabitable, the fourth has an elven colony located upon it. The fifth, while habitable, is uninhabited. The sixth planet has a human population, and the other six are gas giants. Total system population is 1.453 billion."
"While it certainly would be a very valuable system to add to our territory, it's going to be quite heavily defended, and it's going to take a lot of ships and troops to take it and maintain order." said Secretary of Defence Ronald Bergen.
"I know," Calimar replied, "And I've already thought up a solution. I'm going to invite the Takan government in on this imperialist adventure." Calimar ignored the Cabinet's expressions of shock and horror. We won't be able to afford to maintain a hold on everything in that system alone, it's simply too large. I'm going to offer them control of the elven world and join control over the uninhabited, along with a large share of the asteroid belts, in return for military assistance."
Fleet Admiral Harris couldn't take it any longer. "Sir, I must protest! Inviting the Takan starfleet along would give the impression that our navy can't handle a simple annexing. They already have that arrogant attitude, do you really want to fuel it further?" Hammond joined in, "The army can handle a simple garrison job Mr. President, even if it is over two worlds with large populations."
Calimar sighed, "Yes, you do have a point. And I do have absolute faith in the ability of the People's Navy and Army to be able to accomplish any task they are given. But look at it this way, if we bring along the military of another nation, we can claim it's a multinational peacekeeping effort, which it is, but without any intention of leaving. It would give our invasion a legitimate front until we've secured control. Plus it's going to be expensive, and bringing along the Takan military would help alleviate some of the cost. Elaine, I want you to write up a proposition, and send it to the Takan cruiser in orbit, have them send it to their superiors. Fleet Admiral Harris, Grand Marshall Hammond, I want you two to be begin drawing up plans. Meeting adjourned."

Retransmit this message to TSA's central command. The People's Navy will soon be embarking upon a "peacekeeping operation" in the Epsilon Pegasi star system, formely of the Klonor Empire. We would like to invite the Takan Star Armada along on this operation, with control over the fourth world and shared control over the fifth world and some other system assets in return. Please respond as soon as possible, as our timetable for operations is not unlimited.[/code:1:c263a699d6]
In orbit over Vernii, assault shuttles began ferrying troops, vehicles, and equipment up to waiting transports. Supply shuttles and pinnaces began transferring crewmen and supplies to warships. Within a few hours, the peacekeeping fleet would be ready to leave the system.

Fleet Admiral Hiroshi read over the transmition, his brow furrowing deeply as he considered the options.
"Radio" he said, tapping out a few logistics consoles to begin requisition. "Inform the crew of the Evangelion that it will undergo a live fire combat opperation. . . official report is a peace keeping opperation in former Klonorian territory. I want escorts and marine accompanyments to be tapped out as well."
Within an hour, the first shuttles had begun ferrying ammunition and crews to the silently hanging starships, and after only twelve hours, the massive ships moved from thier docks towards minimum jump distance.

The human fleet split apart, scattering towards the Four Points as a concentrated volley from the Elvish attack cruisers knocks the Harbinger Cannon out of position. With the Harbinger Cannon down the human vessels would be easy prey for the numerically superior attacking force. The Elves, sensing victory after months of combat, move forward to secure their position. As they approach the now defunct Cannon the space around them ripples, dozens of Mercury and Deimos class Corvettes speeding out of Sub-Space into a perfect firing position right on top of the Elven ships. Without hesitation they open fire, slicing hull plating and detonating S-Cores. To add insult to injury, the Harbinger Cannon rotates on its axis and opens fire itself, clearly showing that it's apparent destruction was an extremely clever ruse.
The Elven ships, suddenly on the defensive, condense into a tight sphere in an attempt to reinforce each others shields. Unfortinately, even with dozens of ships working together there's not much one can do against a Harbinger Cannon. It systematically targets and fires, decimating ship after ship. Finally, with barely a third olf the attacking force still alive, the ships flash into Sub-Space on a random hop. Dangerous, yes, but safer than staying there.
They reappear towards the edge of the system, dangerously close to the outer gas giant, and begin to plot a course back to their base. It seems this war is far from over.

The 2nd battlefleet, already headed towards the area but split into four groups, three going back to free space and the fourth hanging around in Klonor space, comes out of hyperspace near Epsilion Pegasi.
A sensors sweep is quickly performed, and it confirms the huge battle taking place. The Section Admiral in command, a robot named Kreeog, surveys the tactical plot aboard the bridge of the battlecruiser Stone Free.
"All ships, this is the LRRSV Stone Free and 4th patrol division of the 2nd battlefleet. We urge you to stop fighting for a bit so we can help work out a peace deal."
Kreeog, always somewhat awkward with speeches, looks to his crew for a rating. They give 1 1/2 thumbs up generally.
The fleet reaches the Gregor system hyper limit and vanishes. Several hours later it reappears at the edge of the Epsilon Pegasi system. First come the battleships, followed by the battlecruisers and heavy cruisers, and finally the light cruisers. The transports and destroyers remain in hyper along with two of the light cruisers.
"Contact! Multiple signatures, bearing one-two-five, oh-oh-six, range seven-five-seven-four thousand kilometers." Formidable's sensor officer called out. "Looks like a group of Klonor warships hanging around the last gas giant."
Admiral McKinley stiffened in his seat. They weren't supposed to encounter the enemy yet. A few seconds passed...."Hail them."
His com officer looked confused. "Sir?"
"You heard me, hail them. Begin transmission: This is Admiral McKinley of the People's Navy of Vernii. We are here to offer you our governments support in your war against your oppressors. While we are human, we too understand what it is like to fight for freedom from oppressors, and we offer our support. End transmission."
The ERCD Bastion, the Orion class Destroyer formerly in command of the Klonor Space Corps ships stationed in the Epsilon Pegasi system (even though there was a Hecate class Destroyer in the system), slowly rotates to face new arrivals. Surrounded by numerous Leviathan and Prometheus class Cruisers it faces the Vernii ships, not quite sure what to expect.
"This is the ERCD Bastion, Flagship of the Elven Fleet. While we welcome any help offered, we must doubt your intentions. What assurance do we have that you truly wish to aid us? In fact, how do we know that you are not merely ships of the EPHC purchased from Vernii? Such ploys have been used before, and the results have been disastrous. If you truly wish to help, power down your weapons and follow us to the following co-ordinates (insert random string of numbers here) where we will determine your true motivations. Bastion out."
With that the Elven ships spread out, moving to surround the Vernii ships and 'escort' them back to the Even base.
Turning to his sensor and weapons officers the Captain gives a rather obvious order: "Watch those ships, if they so much as point a single Turret in our direction I want you to slice them in two. Transmit the same orders to the Cruisers, we can't afford to suffer any more losses."
"Yes, sir."
"Good. Now, take us home."
McKinley frowned after listening to the elven commander's message. He didn't quite trust them, but things could become far easier this way. "Begin transmission: We will power down our weapons, but our shields will remain online. Also, our point defence systems will remain on standby. I assure you that they pose no threat to your ships. We will follow you to the coordinates you specified. End transmission."
The ships go to the coordinates specified. (There really isn't much more to say on this subject)
OOC: Tut, tut Verniian operations so close to Alpha Centauri and I was not informed? Heresy I say! Heheheheh
Blue-white light rips through the space in the Epsilon Pegasi system, a massive jump speace exit point full forms as one of the reconnaissance parties sent by First Star Lord Grossadmiral Sir Quentin Forrest completes its jump from Alpha Centauri. The HMS Majestic, a Taurus-class battleship, is the flagship of the small force, she is screened by a pair of Pisces-class frigates and four Sagittarius-class destroyers.
Kapitan zur Sternen Prudmore, master of the Majestic blinks as his ship departs the swirling vortex of jump space.
"Bring shields up and weapons online. Also prepare the comm for a general system-wide transmission."
"Aye, sir."
Prudmore waits for a few moments before activating the comm, "This is Kapitan zur Sternen Prudmore of His Majesty's Star Armada and the HMS Majestic. We are here to ensure that peace and security are maintained in this system and we will not brook attacks from either side in this war. At this time the force under my command will act as an intermediary and policing force between your respective worlds. However, be forewarned at this point that the first of you to fire on any of my vessels will be treated as an enemy of His Majesty and the United Star Empire of Valinon."
Prudmore cuts the link, "Prepare to flights of Longshards and three Cancer-class LACs. I want them to perform a reconnaisance flight on the second and third worlds as soon as possible."
"Aye, sir."
A few minutes later six Longshard-class interceptors and three LACs race away from the Majestic. Three fighters and two LACs set a course for the second planet of the Pegasi system, while three fighters and one LAC head for the third planet.
OOC: Damn you! Hehe. I'm not going to post anything IC until Klonor, LRR or Taka return, but I just got a mental image of Calimar throwing stuff around his office and screaming. And I'm sending you a telegram Valinon.

The Stone Free and the other four LRR battlecruisers in the division, the Cream, ZZ Top, Rolling Stone, and Son House wait to be noticed by the Elf fleet, along with the rest of the ships.
The LRRSV Graham Nash, one of the 2nd battlefleet hospital ships, hyperspaces in behind the rest of the division, victim of hyperspace drive trouble and thus a few minutes late. Thehyperspace signature would probably be picked up by the Elf and Vernii ships....
"Incoming hyper transit Sir." Captain Reed, CO of Formidable reported to Admiral McKinley, "So far CIC think's it's an LRR capital starship. Sensors are also detecting other LRR starships inside the system. I would agree, since they've been conducting peacekeeping operations in other former Klonor systems."
"It looks like a bit of bad timing on their part to show up during our operations. Time for another ruse." McKinley accessed the ship's media files, selecting an Old Earth band, Led Zeppelin. He chose a file at random, opening up a music file named "Heartbreaker" and it began to play on the bridge speaker system. He ignored the confused looks given by his officers, "Open up a com link." He turned the volume up so the song could be clearly heard in the background of his message. He coughed nervously, "Begin transmission: Hey, LRR! Welcome to Pegasi! I'm sure you're here the same reason we are, keeping the peace, after all, what good are us military types if there isn't peace between the wars?" Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Reed trying to stifle his laughter, but continued, "Anyway, I'd just like you to know everything's cool about that border war we had. The President's mellowed out a bunch since then, imperialism is bad and all that, so we're cool, just thought you'd like to know. Well, talk to you later man. End transmission."
He clicked the stop button on his computer, and the music over the bridge speakers ceased. "I don't feel clean. Captain, the bridge is yours. I'm going to go take a shower."

Admiral Kreeog is suspicious.
"I can't see Vernii crews as the Led Zeppelin type. I'm suspicious. It just isn't like them to act like that."
"If they think imperialism is bad and all, it seems like they are trying to get a foothold in the area."
"Hey, we can loose the frigates probably, right?"
"Yeah. Those guys need a rest. All frigates, you can head back to Starchaser 4 or wherever."
"Roger that. Hyperspacing out."
The frigates hyperspace to the nearest big LRR base, starchaser 4. From there, they either stay or go to another LRR base, having tons to choose from.
Kreeog comes up with a plan.
"Let's try something."
"Ok. What do you have in mind?"
"Let's test their Zeppelin knowledge."
"Good one."
"Vernii ship captain, what is the name of the Led Zeppelin bassist? Fast fast fast!"
OOC: Sorry about the delay, had a power outage that lasted about 45 minutes.
"What should we do? It was the admiral's plan, and he isnt here!" exclaimed Reed. "I don't know sir, just stall for time." replied his exec.
"Begin transmission: LRR starship, this is Captain Reed of VNS Formidable I'm afraid that Admiral McKinley isn't able to answer your question right now, as he's taking care of a personal matter and isn't on the bridge. I can't either as I don't really listen to Led Zeppelin. If you can give us until the Admiral returns, I'm sure he can answer your question. End transmission."
Reed turned to his crew. "I want you people to dig through the records, find the name of that guy!"

"What? You think we're faking? That is an insult! Why, to accuse an officer of the People's Navy of lying?Well I'm sorry my musical taste doesn't extend to Led Zeppelin, as I said, it's Admiral McKinley's choice of music, not mine. And what do you think we're here for? We already told you." Reed shut down the comlink and dropped into his command chair.
"I found it sir! I found the bassist!"
"Excellent lieutenant!" He got up and hurried over to the lieutenant's station, then sent another transmission.

"Really, Vernii. What are you here for? You brought no freighters. We have three freighters with us, plus a hospital ship. You have a combat fleet. And you are dealing with what is essentially a rebel force. And if you were real Zeppelin fans, you would have known that a lot sooner."
"Well, that just proves the difference in planning between our nations doesn't it? I'd like to point out that this system has a population of over 1.4 billion, and was formerly of the Klonor Empire. Which means they have hospitals, and with three habitable worlds, they have farms to support that population. And of course we brought a combat fleet, it's war zone!"

"Ok, then. You could have told us that in the first place and avoided messing with Led Zep. So, yeah. We're delivering humanitarian supplies to Klonor systems, just in case of a catastrophe. Contact the Elves for us, and ask them if they need hospital ship services, if you would."

The Principality of Skeelzania will be closely monitoring this conflict. For the time being, we do not intend to deploy our military unless the safety of the human population is in immienent danger. Our citizens send their support to the Defenders of Humanity, and wish them victory against the elven aggressors.
"Acknowledged LRR." Reed sighed as that ordeal was over. "Contact the elven flagship. Begin transmission: The LRR admiral has asked me to contact you to ascertain if you need their hospital ship's services. Please send your reply back to them. End transmission."
Admiral Sakura watched the transmitions with a look of disbelife on her face.
"They. . . are arguing about. . . an old earth rock band?" she said, a sweat drop forming at her temple. "Bring us around to meet up with the Evangelion and its escorts, then fold us in while they prepare for a hot fold. See if we can't get the drop on the humans.
*************************************************************
Space shifted as the two kilometer long bulk of the cruiser slipped through the tear, a holographic image appearing aboard all the vessels involved as it presented broadsides to the human cluster.
"Attention humans" Sakura said, her slight frame appearing on the view screen. Her subdued pink hair covering her ears, hiding that missing peice of elven anatomy. "I am Lady Sakura, and by the power vested in me by the High Elven council of Taka, I have declared you to be enemies of the true species, surrender, or prepare for destruction."

"Ah, the Takans finally arrive. Inform Admiral McKinley immediately."
A few minutes later McKinley stepped out of the liftcar onto the bridge. "Status report?"
"The takan fleet has arrived and are preparing to engage the human colony's fleet."
"Good, inform the elven flagship that we will head out to meet the Takans and engage the enemy. Load missile tubes. Take us up to 425 Gs accel, assume wall formation."
The twelve immense battleships formed into two rows of six ships each, spaced out 600 kilometers from each other, the heavy and light cruisers forming a protective hemisphere 750 kilometers in front of the wall, while the battlecruisers moved into another wall between the two, but with 300 kilometer spacing. The formation began to accelerate to a rendezvous with the Takan ships. Once the formation was nearing the limits of effective energy range, they began to power up their energy weapons.
The EPHCD Aquitaine, moving in orbit around the human colony while the Harbinger Cannon was towed back in place (It might not have been damaged in the attack, but it was moved), slowly rotated and fired its engines (for the purpose of slowing it down, since the thruster fuel usually used for braking and minor course correction was growing scarce due to the war). The Chronor freighters were almost finished, only the minor speed boosts necessary for maintaining orbit were left to the Cannon.
However, before it could return to its normal patrol route, it received an extremely unwanted transmission
Attention humans, I am Lady Sakura, and by the power vested in me by the High Elven council of Taka, I have declared you to be enemies of the true species, surrender, or prepare for destruction
"Oh, ****. I swear, do these idiots have conventions and plan out their ridiculous actions in advance? We get attacked by the Elves, and suddenly we're the bad guys? Oy, this will not help my migraine. Sensors, do we have an origin of that transmission?"
"Yes, sir."
"Open a CoChan, let's se if we can make contact."
"Open, sir."
"Attention Lady Sakura, this is the EPHCD Aquitaine, Flagship of the Human Coalition. We have done nothing to you, or to the inhabitants of the second planet. Why have you joined them against us? What crime have we done? Are we worthy of destruction becasuse we didn't help them conquer a primitive nation in Old Sol? If so, then you have one seriously distorted view of what is right. We do not wish war with you, or even with the Elves already in the system, yet you seemed compelled to force it. Why?"

The commonwealth of the Wick takes a stance similar to Skeelzot's. We will not stand for elven aggression, we are organizing a Task Force now....
Sakura closes the channel to all ships save the flagship and pushes her hair behind her ears, exposing round, human ears.
"Divide and counquer. . ." she said, as her ship's broadsides opened in a full volley, lances targeting the Harbinger cannons while the railguns and laser mounts targeted the flagship, sending waves of fire to break against it. Torpedeo tubes opened, the long, silver tubes of death tracing against inky darkness.

"Alright people, time to get this operation started. Signal the rest of the fleet: Trojan."
Across the fleet new firing plans were locked into the fire control computers and executed. The six Triumphant As targetted the ERCD Bastion, and a let loose a salvo of 312 missiles, twenty of them carrying 25 megaton fusion warheads, and the rest carrying laser warheads. At the same time the six ships opened fire with each of their four 350 centimeter grasers. The other six battleships and the six battlecruisers opened fire upon the nearest Harbringer Cannon, firing 306 missiles, thirty of them carrying fusion warheads. Other vessels in the elven navy found themselves being targetted by other ships in the fleet, but none fired yet.
Fire control on the rest of the fleet targetted the cities on the planet below with their energy weapons, ready to demolish each of them with a withering orbital bombardment.
"Ships of the Elven Liberation Front Navy, this is Admiral McKinley of the People's Navy, Epsilon Pegasi Expeditionary Fleet. I demand your immediate surrender. My fleet stands ready to open fire upon your cities, but will only do so if you refuse. We do not wish for the destruction of your world, and ask that you do not leave us without any other choice. Accept my offer, and your world will be made a protectorate of both Vernii and the Proxima nations. Your ways of life will be preserved, and you will remain semi-autonomous. The LRR fleet immediately picks up the combat.
"All vessels, please stand down! This is madness!"
"The Vernii ships say they're ready to demolish the elf cities!"
"Vernii vessels, please do not go through with your plans! Do not kill innocent civillians, we plead to you!"
"Open up a tightbeam comlaser to the LRR flagship, just that ship though. Begin transmission: We won't bombard unless they refuse to surrender, and if they do refuse, we won't expressly target civilians. We will first target military and government structures, followed by industrial centers, then power plants and so on. End transmission."
Kapitan zur Sternen Prudmore watches as the comm traffic takes on a far more aggressive tone and watches the actions of the Takans and Verniians with a growing smoldering fire in his eyes.
"Send a signal back to Konteradmiral Delanovich, tell him that we need immediate assistance to pacify the Epslion Pegasi situation."
"Aye, sir."
Prudmore slides back into his command chair, rubbing his temples and waiting for the arrival of the additional reinforcements awaiting at the edge of the system.
**********
A few minutes later, three new exit points rip through space. From them spill forth the additional reinforcements for Prudmore's command. Four battlecruisers, six battleships, a carrier, four heavy cruisers, six light cruisers, nine destroyers, and eight frigates form up.
A second transmission comes out from the Valinor ships, and a man wearing the crisp space black uniform of the Star Armada with a Konteradmiral (rear admiral) fills the comm channels across the system.
"All forces of Pegasi native 'belligerents,' this is Konteradmiral Delanovich of His Majesty's Star Armada and the United Star Empire of Valinon. You are hereby ordered to concede with the demands already voiced by the People's Republic of Vernii and the Imperial Principality of Taka, with the knowledge they come with the backing of the Valinor. Resistance will lead to the immediate intervention of my own command and the resources of the Star Armada to resolve this conflict as expediantly as possible. We also strongly urge that the forces of the Takan Star Navy stand down against the inhabitants of the third planet of Epsilon Pegasi immediately or face the imminient displeasure of His Majesty and the United Star Empire of Valinon."
Sakura watched the Valinor vessels slid into orbit with noted distaste.
"More arrogant people have never lived" she said under her breath, turing to the helmsmen. "Keep us on course, but do not fire again unless they open fire on us. . . we will not allow them to wound us with impunity."
As the 95 torpedos, 760 railgun slugs, and 2280 high powered lasers fired from the Takan fleet target and move towards the Human fleet, caught off guard and undoubtedly about to be obliterated, a seldom used and long dormant emergency protocol in the Fleet computer banks is activated. An outsider spectator might have thought he'd been drugged, because suddenly the entire section of space surrounding the Human occupied world rippled and shimmered with the combined effects of hundreds of Sub-Space Nodes. Fortunately, for the humans, that spectator would not have been drugged. The Admiralty, long suspicous of attacks by allied nations, had long ago had a fail-safe installed on all Klonor ships. When any attack by an allied/neutral nation is detected upon Klonor ships/installations the Sub-Space Motivators are immedietly activated on an outbound course. Essentially, all Klonor ships go 'bye-bye' and appear billions of km away. Giving them time to prepare for war (Charging weapons, bring shields online, arming fighters, etc.) and time to prepare a devestating counter-attack.
The Takan attack aimed at the Fleet passes harmlessly through empty space, the ships long gone and out of danger. However, the Harbinger Cannons have no such defense (Damn them and their hugeness which negates the possibility of installing engines!) and the Lances speed in at stationary/massive targets. Unfortunately (for the lances) the Harbinger Cannons aren't without their own defenses. In the two seconds it takes for the Humans to detect the missiles the Mjolnir RBC's are brought online, the next second they target the incoming missiles, and in the final two seconds they begin to knock the Lances out of the sky. Unfortunately (this time for the Humans), two seconds isn't nearly enough time to destroy 50 missiles moving at .8 c
The remaining 30 missiles impact, detonating with the customary 10 mt explosion and massive destruction that usually accompanies such explosions. When the dust (or whatever happens in space) clears there first appears to be no damage, until one looks more closely. The Cannons are each 10 km long, and even massive damage is hard to notice. However, such damage does occur, and on a grand scale. Even as the seventeen operational Cannons rotate to fire the three damaged installations drift through space, unable to even move themselves back into position (one of these days I need to RP adding on some massive engines).
Unfortunately (This time for the Takan ship), seventeen Harbinger Cannons are still damn powerful. They rotate, target, and unleash a deadly salvo all in a bare few seconds. With deadly intent the Harbinger Warheads home in, about to strike back at the fools who had thought to challenge their power.
OOC: Vernii, I need to discuss some things with you before I post a response to you
Konteradmiral Delanovich watches as the Harbingers prepare to fire.
"Damn them, damn them all," he whispers under his breath. "And damn Forrest for being right about this. Comm! Signal the Special Liaison ships, give them a direct exit point between the Takans and the Human Coalition orbital defenses. Tell them they are to initiate Operation Spindle as soon as they exit jump space."
"Yes, Konteradmiral," Delanovich glares at the moving Harbingers.
"And let us damn ourselves for depending far too much on these psykers."
**********
A few minutes later, as the Harbingers are just beginning to finish their orientation toward the Takan ships, three seperate exit points appear in between the two combatants. From the storms of white and electric blue light emerge three ships, each slender and resembling a blade from a sword.
As the Harbingers prepare to fire, the Kommandant of the lead Special Liaison Service ship, more aptly known as the Myrmidons, looks at his sensor read outs.
Clear the final energy gates, bring the projectors full online.
Understood, Kommandant.
No words are heard on the small bridge of the ship, none are needed. But as the Harbingers fire a distortion seems to ripple outward from the Myrmidon vessels, as if a bubble is forming up in space. The bubble rushes outward, merging with the one from the other two Myrmidon ships, and rapidly encompassing most of the core formation of the Takan ships in close orbit.
Fire rages against the distortion as the Harbingers detonate, and for a moment one edge of the field flickers and breaks, allowing several of the massive warheads through, but it quickly reforms.
The storm ebbs minutes later, and the Myrmidon ships remain defiantly poised between the Takans and the former positions of the now dead Klonor Empire.
**********
A second transmission comes out from Delanovich.
"I repeat," he says voice cold as the transmission spills across the Takan and Human Coalition channels, "further actions of aggression will not be tolerated, and you are advised to immediately desist from further action."

Myrmidon vessel
"Sheilds online NOW, get those HEPDs up and running." Sakura barked, leaning over the railing to assure her voice would carry to all stations. Her eyes flickered back to the holographic display as the massive cannons swiveled towards her ship. . . though she knew they had nothing to fear from projectiles, she worried for her crew and her ship's safety. "bring in the Evangelion and order all remaining ships to enter into possition."
The wave of fire flew forth, and into the Valnor shields. She paused a moment, taking stock of what had just happened, when it sturck her.
"Saved by the Valnor. . . is there any worse disgrace than having those egotistical bastards step into every situation they are not welcomed into?" she muttered, opeing an open coms channel. Out loud, to both the Valnor and the Klonorian ships she sent an uncoded holographic transmition.
"The Star Empire of Valinon, and the Imperial Principality of Taka will not stand for furtherer agression, power down your ships and prepare to be boarded, and no further harm will come to you, if you refuse. . ."
as if to accent her point, the Evangelion, a six kilometer monster of a ship, appeared, along with two more cruisers and a collection of smaller support starships.
"if you refuse you will be destroyed. You will be allowed to keep your nation, and you will be allowed near compelte autonomous rule, but you will be watched by a Takian council to assure that this does not happen again. Surrender your planet now, or face the concequences."

"Those imperialist pigdogs!"
"All ships! This is the 4th patrol division of the LRRSF, we will not stand for this blatant imperialism! Don't you people have enough territory as it is? We call on all of you to wipe the notion of carving out sections of Klonor territory for yourselves. Further, we call on the elf and human factions to unite against the imperialist aggressors and repel their invasion of your homeland! We will intercept any missiles headed for or from the surface of any planet in the Epsilion Pegasi system."
Kreeog contemplates what he just said.
"They might kill us, Fred."
"I know."
The ships' crew man their battle stations. Weapons are not powered up, but shields are and damage control teams are put at the ready. The Graham Nash moves far away. Its carrier-like profile could easily attract fire.
Delanovich's eyes are cold and hard as he watches the LRR ships move across the tactical display of his flag bridge on board the HMS Juno, the flagship of his task force.
"What is the distance to the LRR carrier?" Delanovich says, his eyes resting on one of the gunnery tactical officers on the flag bridge.
The tactical officer looks at his admiral, "305,789 kilometers at range, Sir."
"Well within our powered missile envelope," Delanovich gives a curt nod. "I want a warning shot to detonate over their bow, a DS-37 warhead should do nicely. Then give me a channel to the LRR ships."
"Aye, sir," Delanovich turns back to the display. Not even a full minute later a missile counter seperates from the representation of the Juno, it races toward the LRR ship at 91,000 gravities.
Four minutes later a nuclear fireball erupts on the opposite side of the LRR, creating a glaringly bright new sun as the eighty-five megaton warhead attached to the missile lights off.
Delanovich nods, and the comm is activated, "LRR task force, that was your warning. Further interruption in this matter will not be brooked, and will be met with the due and proper force declared by this situation. At this time you may stand down and assume a neutral orbit around the fifth planet, or retire to the system's rim."
OOC: What is there to ask Klonor? If you need more info about the missiles, I can answer most questions. Some basics:
Here's how a bomb pumped laser warhead works.
X-Ray Laser Warhead
A warhead that uses a nuclear bomb to power up a set of lasing rods which each use the initial energy release of the nuke to create a powerfull x-ray laser. When reaching set range, a x-ray laserhead opens up and the lasing rods separate from the missile. The lasing rods use their own quick burning reactionary thrusters to reach a certain angle relative to the target and a certain distance from the warhead. This is when the nuclear bomb detonates and since most of a nuclear weapons energy release is in the first second of its detonation, the lasing rods survive long enough to create a powerfull beam. The advantage of a laserhead is that it does not need to actually hit its target physically or get within a few hundred meters. Its a stand-off weapon which allows it only to come as close as 10,000 to 20,000 kilometers from target in order to do damage.
Also, about the missiles I use. I use the Mk 38 Capital Missile, production rights purchased from Clairmont. Stats for it:
Model: MK-38 Capital Missile
Mass: 75 Tons
Length: 18.4 Meters
Diameter: 2.9 Meters
Volume: 91.2 m^2
Warhead: 100 Megaton Thermo-Nuclear Device or X-Ray Laser Warhead
Maximum Powered Envelope: 7,000,000 kilometers
Propulsion: Impeller Drive
Maximum Acceleration: 45,000 G's
Sensors: LIDAR, EM Detectors, Active Radar
~A heavy missile with a heavy suite of penetration aids and guidance systems. A large warhead, long powered envelope and good maximum acceleration. Used by Ships of the Wall ranging from Battleships to Superdreadnoughts.
A little tidbit about the max accel, I blended the plans with my tech a bit, the missile's acceleration can be increased to 75,000 G's, but that reduces powered flight time to only sixty seconds, and the range down to 1.5 million kilometers. Terminal velocity using the normal acceleration is 75,000 KPS, for the 75,00 G's acceleration, terminal velocity is "only" 50,000 KPS. Pretty much, any target within 1.5 million kilometers got the 75k G accel, beyond that they got the regular. Missiles don't take a straight flight course either, they bob and weave and such.
As for my energy weapons, for example, the battleships fired upon the elven flagship with 350 cm grasers. That would mean each beam (total of 24) is 3.5 meters wide. Also, the beams are powerful enough to not just inflict thermal damage, but also kinetic.
EDIT: Also, as I was just informed that you were wondering how I got my weapons online so quickly, I didn't.
Posted: Sun Apr 04, 2004 7:08 pm Post subject:
"Ah, the Takans finally arrive. Inform Admiral McKinley immediately."
....
"Good, inform the elven flagship that we will head out to meet the Takans and engage the enemy. Bring weapons online and load missile tubes. Take us up to 425 Gs accel, assume wall formation."
Two IC posts later is when I open fire.

-DOH Hippocrates, Earth Orbit-
*Surgeon-Director Bergenholm was reading over a report with some obvious degree of displeasure. the paper shook slightly in his chubby fingers, and his bald head was slightly red, and obviously sweaty. he looked up at the man who had delivered the message, and fairly exploded.*
-what in the seven hells is going on out there?! why was I not informed of this sooner? why don't we have a ship en-route already? ANSWER ME, DAMMIT!
-Doctor Bergenholm, the CHV Phlogiston is standing by, fully crewed, to respond to this situation. the message was brought to you as soon as we had it fully translated. give the word and we'll have a ship there.
-what's the estimated transit time?
-twenty-six hours at maximum resonance
-hrm... alright. send the Phlogiston, and have the Theresa on standby.
-as you say, doctor.
*not ten minutes later, the CHV Phlogiston, 700 meters of gleaming white Durachrome, emblazoned with enormous red crosses, detached from it's mooring at the hospital. her crew of doctors, surgeons, nurses, and support staffmade sure all was in readiness for the task ahead, studying all the information they could find onthe warring factions, and preparing the different areas of the ship appropriately. war might've been an unknown in the confederacy, but even they knew better than to put rivals in the same areas. the ship flashed from space as it's resonance drive kicked in, driving it with all speed towards Epsilon Pegasi.*
-26 hours later, outer rim of Epsilon Pegasi-
*the trademark blue-white lance of light that poured briefly out of space signalled the Phlogiston's arrival. trasmitters were already active, informing anyone on any number of channels that she was an unarmed ship on a mission of mercy. her captain was more than a little nervous as he looked out the wide plutonite viewports of the bridge.*
-what's the status on our screens?
-wall shields at 100%, first through fifth secondary screens at 100%. we're in good shape, cap'n. we'll be alright.
-... take us in, then.
*the mighty ship again flashed through space, appearing at the edge of the combat zone in a matter of seconds. her transmitters happily repeating their peaceful message at regular intervals.*
-This is the CHV Phlogiston, assigned to rescue duty in this area of space for the duration of hostilities. you may contact the captain on this frequency for further information regarding our mission, or anything else you may care to know. message repeats.

"Due and proper force, eh? We should be the ones nuking you! You can't just go in and steal these peoples' planet! Still, we will not fire on your ships! We will only engage missiles and other projectiles coming from and towards any vessels within range."
The LRR patrol division moves further away from the Valinon ships.
OCC: The LRR ships are not carriers, they are battlecruisers, 8 in total. The Graham Nash looks like a carrier but is a hospital ship converted from a carrier. LRR carriers are much smaller than the Fredereck Douglass class battlecruisers in the area.
The Human and Elven fleets form up, damaged and destroyed ships filling the void between the seperate Armadas. For once the two fleets weren't about to kill each other, the invading Valinon/Vernii/Taka/LRR fleets were the newest targets.
Aboard each fleet Flagship almost identicle orders were being given.
"Bring the Heavy Beam Cannons on-line! Charge the Laser Turrets and load the Missile Towers. Let's get ready to blow these guys back to whatever god forsaken system the come from!"
"Yes, sir!"
However, this is where things take a slight turn for the bizarre.
Alert! Alert! The time is 22:53, the Star Trek Marathon will begin in 7 minutes. Repeat, the Star Trek Marathon will begin in 7 minutes!
The Captains pause, unaware that it had grown so late.
Broad Beam Transmission: All Non-Klonor Ships in Epsilon Pegasi
Atention all vessels, this is the Human Coalition and the Elven Liberation Front. Uh, well..... we give up. See, the Star Trek Marathon starts in a little over 5 minutes, and we thought this whole war would be over long before then. We really need to get back. Sorry, but this fight has to end. You win. Bye!

The LRR fleet, equally, if not more surprised at the early beginning of the Star Trek marathon, hyperspace back to the nearest LRR outpost.
They arrive at DSO-43489373897^45 just in time to catch the opening of The Wrath Of Khan.

As the Valinor, Verniian, and Takan task forces begin to consolidate their hold on the Epsilon Pegasi system, four new Valinor ships arrive. The first is a Leo-class long-range fleet tender designed for dry-dock operations and mobile support. The second is a Magellan-class science vessel, bearing the markings of the Office of Armada Intelligence. And the last two ships are destroyers, sheparding the other ships.
The small task force makes its way rapidly toward the captured and detained ships of the human and Elven factions. The science vessel moves rapidly toward one of the captured Achilles-class battleships, while the fleet tender moves toward one of the orbiting Harbinger cannons.
Six shuttles depart the science vessel, and the tender begikns to deploy its extended docking arms and dry-dock systems around the Harbinger.
**********
Two days later, the science vessel moves away from the Achilles, now with modular Verner drives attached to its hull. And the fleet tender prepares itself to move as well, leaving the Harbinger with a similar but larger scale Verner system to carry it into jumpspace. Along with a modular engine core manuvering system.
Six massive engine blocks light off on the Harbinger, moving it out of planetary orbit and toward the planetary system edge. The Achilles, escorted by the science vessel follows it, and the two escorting destroyers take up flanking positions.
Twenty-seven minutes later the Achilles, the Harbinger, the science vessel, the fleet tender, and the two destroyers disappear into the blue-white rip of a jumpspace entry point. Leaving the Epsilon Pegasi system behind, two ships less of its former count.

A small LRR patrol group, consisting of 10 modified destroyers and frigates comes out of hyperspace in outer Epsilion Pegasi.
OOC: Hey, I just realised a freakishly large parallel with what just happened and a TV show I used to watch. Weird.
Anyway, Valinon, we need to talk. Wait, scratch that. I need some info (I made a bit of an ass of myself yesterday and want to avoid doing that again). The Achilles that you just took out of the system, did you do that by strapping your own engines to it and flying away or by using the Achilles's own engines?
