The newest variant of the Super Acolyte heavy fighter has been put into production by the fleet shipyards. It is the next step up from the Super Acolyte IIX, and builds on much learned from the experimental Super Acolyte III bomber. Since it is a somewhat complicated fighter, it will not replace the IIX, but will act as support for the smaller but cheaper IIXs.

The Super Acolyte IV will retain the heavy shielding and armor protection of the previous models, but will include several new features, such as:
Two fully independently tracking gun turrets, one mounted on each side wing.
Independently manouverable exhaust outlet, like on the IIX, to improve manouverability.
Addition of planetary flight capability, functioning as a gunship.
