The Copa 64 is a 64-team knockout, single elimination tournament which I flat ripped off from the NCAA's Final Four. If you're unfamiliar with American college hoops, think of it as a one-match F.A. Cup. If you don't know dick all about college hoops or English football, gather round and I'll explain.

The Copa 64 will use KPB World Cup rankings determined from previous World Cup competitions as of World Cup 13. Nations which haven't participated in prior World Cups are welcome to join and will be given an arbitrary rank of 150. Nations with a newb ranking in WC13, but participating in the competition shall be assigned a ranking of 120. The 64 teams will then be divided into four brackets of 16 and seeded from 1 to 16.

The four hosts of the regional brackets shall be Brazillico, TnUI, Rejistania and The Eagles' Nest. Nations hosting brackets will have their teams entered in other brackets to negate home field advantage and make it an even playing field for all. The winners of the four brackets will congregate in Rejistania to duke it out for the championship. Should Rejistania be in the final four, the event will be moved to TnUI.

I think this has been a decent introduction to the Copa 64, but feel free to inquire about any queries you may have, since I surely left some stuff out.

I'm not sure if I full understand your question, but scores will be generated in a similar fashion to the World Cup. The formula shall be a bit different though, for simplicity purposes since four people will be generating results for their respective brackets.

I've played 8 knockout games in the World Cup from WC2 to WC12 and I've won a total of 1. I don't expect to make it past the first round.

if you were going for an F.A. cup type feel, wouldnt it be best to have absoloutely no seedings? Thats the great thing about the F.A. cup, you can get Manchester United Vs Arsenal (something like Giant Zuchini Vs Europa Brittania) as early as the third round :)

For now, puppets won't be allowed in the Copa 64. However, in the event that it becomes difficult to fill all 64 positions, one puppet per nation will be allowed to enter.

That's true, one of the advantages of not using seeds is that teams like Sunderland or Millwood can make it to the finals. That being said, it doesn't mean that weaker teams still can't go far in the tournament. I can remember countless 12 seeds beating 5 seeds in the First Round of the NCAA tournament, and an 8 seed knocks off a 1 seed almost every year.
Also, older nations tend to be more avid RPers. As great as it would be to see GZ and EB for example, play early on, it would mean losing a dedicated RPer, while some non-RPing newb could slip through the cracks and go very far. That's just my two pennies.

Also, the powers that be of this tournament are contemplating holding the first two brackets as soon as we fill them up, and the remaining brackets afterwards. That way, in case we don't get 64 entries, we can work something out more quickly and easier.

If it is possible, the Republic of Airenguo would like to send a team to join this competition for sporting goodwill.
