Time. Timelessness. A year of NS.

This is an OOC thread.

March 23rd, 2003. A 16 year old boy was told about a place where you could make a nation and do what every person has, at one point or another, dreamed of. Being the leader of a country.

He logged on and created his first nation, Quarell. After growing tired in a few days with the New York Times Democracy he made, he created his most well known nation, Crimmond. A Psychotic Dictatorship, the perfect outlet for his crazed side.

A week or so later, he found a place called Midnight was being talked about in another region, so he looked at it and found a region brimming with action. During this time, he had a Compulsory Consumerist State named Baggera as his fourth nation.(The third shall remain unamed as it was conned out of me months later and is now dead.)

The first nation in that region he saw was Diamond Sabre. The second Walten. The third Steel Butterfly. The fourth... himself after he joined. Then came his intro to the forums.

Now... there is something I must tell you. During the first few months of NS, I had no computer hooked up to the internet. I had a WebTv. Now WebTv is the sukiest peice of suck you can use to get online. And I dealt with these suckiest peice of suck forums with that. THAT is how much I wanted to be a part of this site.

Fast forward. Three wars, one was WWV(or VII if want to include the RL ones), I was in the GDODAD and claimed the title of Fastest Growing GDODAD Member. I had the Pop Bug from HELL... EIGHT issues a day. And Baggera had six a day. I surpassed almost every other nation in the GDODAD and left my fellow Midnight members in the proverbial dust, much to Walten's chagrin. Then Salsua fixed it. And fixed me out of 400 million people. When I was 300 away from being one of the first 1 billion pop nations. One more week and I would have had it!

Fast forward again. The UWB incident. I leave the GDODAD. I make tons of enemies because I was beating the rats off the ship. For the next month and a half, I cut every tie I could to the COMA, the GDODAD and Midnight(having left a month earlier to spread the GDODAD to other regions). Then the whole thing blew up with the Dominion. Half the nations that were pissed at me saw I got out when the gettin' was damn good. I was in good stead with every enemy of the GDODAD except the Reich(I pissed off the leadership one too many times).

Once more. Crimmond leaves the Sol System. For one and a half glorious and Godmoddy months. Then I quickly move back to Earth, but I do NOT take the cowards way out and ignore the trip. I just move twice and hurt my booming economy. Enter the con of my third nation by the peice of... shem. Anyway... two months later and I strip my fleet of FTL. I do NOT ignore it. I simply remove it from my ships and downsize my fleet in the quickest way. I blow up 90% of the excess ships.

That would put us at late September 2003. Amazingly, I have little memory of the latest five months... probably because my nation did diddly squat for most of it and I CO-RPed most of it with Rave Shentavo and others.

Then I have Crimmond annex Baggera and boom. One year.

A year. 365 odd days. The last superpower is at war with a faceless enemy. The UN continues to grow in power(and not for the good in all cases), the greatest films of the century to date are made. My voice finally stops cracking. And now... this may be my last seranade to you all. I have my college applications and are about to fill them out. I am moving on with my life and my career.

I have outlasted nations for one year. I have done what Max Barry thought would never happen. A player stays one year with one nation. And loved every damn day of it!

But this May, that will all change. I start a twenty month course to get an FAA Mechanics licence for jet airframes and powerplants. Which means four days of school, three of study for the first semester. Then four of school, one of internship and two of study. NS will be a distant priority, but still a priority. I will say this now. I have proved my worth. I have lasted this living hell for a year. I will move on a better person for it.

Now, if you have read all that and not just skimmed, you get a cookie. :D

Ooh! What kind of cookie?

On a more serious note, good luck! I discovered NS in college, and am managing to find time for it. No matter how busy one's schedule, everyone needs a bit of entertainment...

Aw, that almost seems sad and half romantic, somehow..

..I didn't get the pop bug, and yet I was apparently so close!

..And my life hasn't moved on at all! Feck!
Maybe I *should* go to Australia, eh?

Jet airframes and powerplants, you say? Surely the envy of many for more than just your population.

Hm.

I almost wish I were sober.

Have fun, anyway..

I'm only a semi-skimmer. ;)

Happy birthday to you comrade... I can't believe we've made it this far for this long. You can't leave though... then it will just be me and these other idiots representing the March (26th) faction on NS. We are the best month out of all of these other ones... and you can't rob me of that... right?

There is more going on in my life than I mention or will mention, because frakliy it's none of any of you alls damn bussines, but it will cause me to be on less. I guarentee you that Crimmond will not be left to die, no matter what, though. I will just be seen less.

And another thing. Now we get to know the feeling of being confused as one day old uber-posting n00bs! And in the words, er word... of one of my oldest allies(Walten): W000T!

Congratulations and good luck. For the record, I'm a 3rd Year History Major at York University and I still have time for this- although maybe not as much as I'd like. Besides, once you get to college you'll learn the art of procrastination, and you'll need a diversion like NS to practice it!

...and I now demand my cookie. :D
Crimmond

One cookie delivered by USPS. It will be there after being bent, opened and sent to a lab for anthrax testing, shipped accidently to Ontario, shipped back through the USPS, retested for anthrax and then eaten by your mailman before being delivered.

Have a nice day.

WOOT! I get a cookie for not skimming...

Back to topic. Wow, a year, congrats. That is pretty impressive. The stuff that can happen in NS in one year. Yikes, my nation's existance has been relativly uneventful. Oh well, good job.

Oh yeah, good luck with the FAA course, that's going to be pretty tough.

OOC:

shipped accidently to Ontario

Well, considering I live in Ontario (in Alliston, near Toronto), this wouldn't be such a bad shipment. Unless this is Ontario, California (where I might like to be I hasten to point out...I hate winter).
