-Please consider this before approaching The People’s Commonwealth on related specifics.

The People’s Commonwealth of Beth Gellert considers itself a modern, evolved state with a good and clear conscience. It is with this in mind that the State Arsenals are authorised to conduct international proliferation of their assorted wares.

As a communist state dedicated to the international revolution Beth Gellert is unwilling to arm factions or individuals deemed counter-revolutionary or regressive by policy or nature. Armament dealing is by no means one of The Commonwealth’s major industries, and as such Beth Gellert can afford to be highly selective in its customer base. Socialist and communist states in which citizens enjoy good civil rights should have no difficulty in engaging the State Arsenals in negotiations, and by the same token regressive imperialist, capitalist and fascist bodies are likely to be rejected early on.

Nations or organisations deemed progressive enough may be eligible for military aid in discounts, technical assistance, or out-right gifts and donations depending on their situation. Beth Gellert budgets for well over a hundred billion dollars in aid annually and maintains a large reserve that may be lent in part to military causes. We too have struggled through lean times and often against difficult odds- the global revolution may depend upon Beth Gellert’s support.

The Commonwealth Final Senate reserves the right to veto any potential deal at any stage in its negotiation or fulfilment.

Oh, where does faithful Gelert roam? The flower of all his race! So true, so brave -- a lamb at home, A lion in the chase!

OOC: A few points- first and most obviously I am by no means an expert on modern warfare or military equipment, and I may make excessively silly mistakes. Feel free to point them out. Second, I would like these threads to contain a little worthwhile RP- hopefully relations can be built around negotiations or deals that may occur here, “gun-running: its a swell way to make friends!” I’m saying up-front so that I don’t later regret holding my tongue; I won’t feel obliged to respond to posts that read, “I would like 40 MT3 tanks please.” Who would, your nation’s ambassador to Beth Gellert? The player sat at a PC in Buenos Aires?
Hopefully there are out there at least a few players interested in heightened relations with BG, and so long as you make a decent post you don’t even absolutely have to buy anything. This is just for fun, after all!

Cheers.

Porthmadog, Beth Gellert

Quite a grand day it was. The rain was coming down (that fine kind, soaks you right through!) and the crowds were moderately large. CPCS comrade Graeme Igo had just concluded his latest speech on Beth Gellen responsibility to the international revolution, and after a few cries of, "we should be selling small arms!" the ceremony-heavy schedule moved on.

There was a brief and silent contemplation of the more than five hundred service men and women yet killed in the War of Malagasy Liberation, three cheers for those hundred-plus wounded or otherwise still engaged, and then medals were handed out. Loved ones accepted three commondations as Heroes of The Commonwealth on behalf of comrade Captain Orson and two of her junior officers aboard CS Penrith, lost along with Aubergine and scuttled Onion during the Argyllian ambush of the then peaceful BGEF to Madagascar.

The BGEF had fought on, its massive weight of numbers and strength of conviction boosted by the fine equipments now offered to other supporters of the global revolution. Argyllia had been forced to withdraw, and now Madagascar was within sight of liberation.

Attention turned to Gauntlet Class fleet defence frigate CS Daffodil, hit by two anti-shipping missiles, crippled but thanks to advanced damage control measures not sunk, and towed home on a skeleton crew. She was now ready to be relaunched, along with Beth Gellert's commitment to the revolution. The even was touted as symbolic and profound, and the frigate eased out of port to a veritable rapture as she moved to join Nibiru Class carrier CS Remiped, herself repaired only days previously.

Nearby Bodkin Class frigate CS Welshman loosed skywards two rounds from her quick-firing 76mm gun, the fleet was back to strength and the State Arsenals open to the world.

A (bump disguised as a) continuation of celebrations as the population of The People's Commonwealth of Beth Gellert passes two billion and the GDP goes beyond a hundred trillion US dollars.

The defence budget, according to the Commonwealth Professional Civil Service -even after falling by two thirds in percentage terms since Sopworth's removal from power- is now over three trillion US dollars. Budgeted international aid: US$200bln+, of which set aside for military aid: US$20bln+.

Roll-up, poor oppressed masses: we'll buy you a tank!

(Fine! We won't! See if we care, we've got our own revolution, we'll protect that!)
