Breathing was for mortals, and so when Honour - the name given to It by foolish mortals - felt the new presence (which was not so much new as faintly familiar), It did not suck in Its breath, nor heave a sigh of wonderment that anything could be nearly new. It had not encountered this before.

It reached out, sensing far and wide - and encountering the Kindred, to which It murmoured a dull apology for disturbing their 'rest' - and encountered a countless number of entities; most of them mortal...

...and some of them not.

It drew a sharp breath: Melkor - it could feel His presence. The Lord of All...

Rapture set in. It had not encountered Melkor in such ages without count - and so, without thought, It reached out, crying Its allegiance-

And Valour and Strength cried a warning unheard, recoiling from Honour as they had never done before-

And Silence, hidden from the other Three, of different and nobler import, wept for the fear of what was to come....
