Seryown's Prime Ministress Anya Diyosa turned down an official offer from the Serya Congress for reelection. The rule in the Serya constitution that allowed for this offer is uncommmon and little known around the world, however it allowes for a three-fourths majority of congress to reelect a Prime Minister(/ress) instead of holding elections. The rule has been repeatedly used instead of elections for the Serya Prime Ministress, who has ruled since the beginning of the Republic of Seryown.

Acting quickly, representatives from two political parties have announced that they are running for election. Of the Serya Socialist Workers' Party(SSwP) is Katya Lementi, formerly of the Calicitas feminist movement. building a platform of greater rights for workers and greater limitations on corporations and companies.
From the Free Party of Seryown(FPS) is Lance Vannorman, currently Plenipotentiary of Ministress Diyosa's government. A retired Army Colonel, Vannorman boasts an excellent military background as well as a campaign position built on freedoms not only for workers, but also for freedoms, with the right to life, one's body, and one's property being the most dear aspects of Vannorman's political philosophy. Vannorman has recently been hurt by a press leak that he was the second choice of the FPS, after the Deputy Prime Minister turned down the position, saying that he had seen the job take it's toll on Ministress Diyosa and didn't wish such a burden upon himself.
While neither of the candidates have announced running mates, they have both recently begun seeking out statements of support from foreign leaders, hoping to garner support within their nation by showing them the strides in foreign policy they can make if they hold power.

As days tick past, poll numbers consistently show a large undecided base shrinking steadliy. SSwP candidate Katya Lementi is showing a majority of the decided voters for her, after she issued a statement supporting the absorption of major industries by the government, allowing them to more properly regulate wages and grant rights to those now-federal workers. Industries expected to be involved in such a change would likely involve Pizza Delivery, Uranium Mining, and Basket Weaving, as well as a few others. Most businesses have rallied against Katya Lementi, which has only given her more support in the working class.
Lance Vannorman has meanwhile been exploiting strongly his experience in the military as well as his inside role in the government to convince voters that he intends to continue the modernization of the Serya military that current president Anya Diyosa has begun. He has already announced a new design that will quickly afford Seryown an easy defense of her archipelago nation.
However, a large number of undecided voters have noted that the apparent lack of willingness from any foreign nations to endorse either candidate seems to indicate that neither are particularly trustworthy and are hoping for a third candidate to emerge who is. Reports up to now make such a case seem unlikely.
