Semi-OOC: Your basic military strategy concepts?

I would like to hear what the basic concept or idea behind your military is. Do you have a small, elite, conservative, effective military? Or do you have an overwhelming, whole-number-percentage, virge-of-wanking, unstoppable force?

As far as Raysia Goes, we have an active military of 1,200,000 people, roughly 0.08% of our total population. Most of this active military isn't really active either... maybe half or less of it is active at any one time. Most of them man out massive defense systems that protect our fortress-like nation, while airborne instant-action forces patrol our remote territories and serve as strike forces, or even invasion forces, that can be called upon and deployed to anywhere in the world in less than 18 hours.

Pros and cons of having a small military:

Pros:
More funding per troop
More training time
Less specialization, more multi-role training
Better equipment
Harder target for enemies (you can target a larger enemy much easier than a smaller one)
Smaller Military = Lower Body Count

Cons:
If in a ground battle against an enemy force that numbers in the millions (an uberwanked enemy force really, but common in NS), our ground forces serve as nothing more than cannon fodder, holding off the enemy until air support attacks.

At the moment my military is about 0.34% of our population. We have a fairly balanced military with an emphasis on the ability to srike hard and fast with mechanized and arrmoured divsions. Our navy is also a focal part of our military
