Testing of orbital weapons

Somewhere in the Sigmala desert...

The transport settled down, blowing dust in all directions. Several soldiers in desert camoflage looked on, faces covered by one way reflective goggles. The transport turned off, and the miniature dust storm stopped.

The rear hatch of the transport opened, and several people walked out. Three of them were dressed in the all black combat armor of the SOET and the rest were military brass and scientists. A high ranking general followed them, with his own bodyguard of two SOET.

One of the soldiers walked up to the general,"Sir! We have everything set up. All you need to do is follow me to the bunker."

The general nodded, and followed the soldier.

Once inside the barracks, everyone there was at a wall with several large slits in it, to allow them to see the test.

A scientist tapped away at his keyboard, sending the confirmation code.

High orbit around Earth

The man sat at his terminal, waiting for the confirmation. His screen blinked and several lines of code appeared. He read them very fast and nodded. He signaled to another person in the room, who pressed a number of buttons.

Farther inside the station, there was the bustle of people preparing for the test. Many system checks were done, and when the supervisor of the event felt it was a go, he sent back the message to commence.

The man at the terminal tapped into his computer: [code:1:d92220e49b]Launch_Rail_Cannon_001_894R[/code:1:d92220e49b]

Back on Earth

There was a boom in the sky, and a hole in the clouds appeared. Everyone in the bunker was watching a single tank out on the field intently. The tank promptly exploded, throwing shrapnel and fire.

The general was impressed. He turned to the nearest scientist,"Impressive, what did you shoot at it?"

The scientist grinned,"A pinball."

The general looked sternly at him,"Seriously. A pinball did that?"

The scientist laughed,"It is a railgun. We could put anything in it, provided it fits. We could go as large as a small Honda if we wanted."

"Very good, but we don't want to strike our enemies with balls and cars. Do you have any ammunition for the thing."

"Oh yes general, several thousand rounds of ammunition of varying types."

"Good."

The general left the bunker and got into his transport. It lifted off and flew away across the desert. He looked back at the pillar of smoke rising from the impact. He muttered,"Impressive."

(OOC: This is completely confidential IC. No one could have known about it. Don't even try. Except that sensors probably could have picked up the rail gun firing.)

OOC: Or the fact that it could have been seen by God only knows how many survailence satalites and combat ships are already up there...With my incursion into Vietnam, I know I personally have a very sizable space force sitting in earth orbit...But, regardless, congrats on getting orty. Unfortunately, this is just post count +1, cuz I have nothing really IC to say...what a waste of time on my part...[/hijack]

( Ya, i sorta meant that by sensors. Im just really tired. Ya, no one could have been on the ground to see it. There's always some n00b with a spy.)
